Layers visibility on loop

After my first production work in Edge cc 2014.1 I had some issues I'd like to report, to understand if it's my workflow problem or something is not working properly.
Despite the infamous c++ error that made working with keyframes a nightmare, these are the issus I've encountered:
The animation is a 30 seconds banner (looped), very simple with 10 layers (pngs, text).
- When published, after looping some layers didn't disappear. I had to force the "display:off" and "display:on" keyframing the property when I wanted the layer to be correctly displayed. I had 10 banners of different sizes (same project duplicated with "save as") and this happened to different layers in a random way (the same layer in some projects stayed visible as the opacity was set in timeline, in other I had to force it using the display property).
- In Chrome the text "line height" property was displayed correctly, in Safari for some texts I had to put a keyframe for this property at the beginning of the timeline to have it displayed correctly.
- When editing a symbol and pressing cmd+s the layout is flashing and symbols are changed of position (only as displayed, going back to main stage the position is still ok). Sometimes it goes back to main stage.
- When I load the published .html in the browser (happened both in Chrome and Safari) and then changed tab then came back to the animation, the texts (webfonts) sometimes are missing or misplaced.
- Some of the glitches above (disappearing or wrong "display" property of layers, line height different from value set in project), sometimes were not present in the preview but only in published version.

sharif's screenshot shows that the other layers are not in outline view. And regardless if they are or not Ctrl/Cmad + Y will toggle all on or off which is the fastest solution for sharif but my first reply was intended to help sharif with understanding the reason for the situation.
edit: Oh, actually you could be right Jacob, they are nested layers

Toggle Visio layers visibility in SharePoint 2013 services

We have a Visio diagram representing system topology. Systems are mapped to different processes that can be visualized with Active X control buttons and some VB to toggle layers visibility. Works great in Visio.
Doesn't work in SharePoint.
I am posting that to Sharepoint 2013 but I am loosing the functionality.
Is it possible to achieve that with this approach?
If this is not supported is there another approach?

According to your description, my understanding is that you want the hyperlink of visio service to open in the same windows tab.
I create a rectangle with hyperlink in a Visio document and set the NewWindow property of the hyperlink to false using VB coding as below:

However, this hyperlink opens in new tab in my SharePoint 2013 as your scenario. It is by default that SharePoint 2013 Visio Service deals with the hyperlink of Visio document. There seams to be no approach that Microsoft Visio keep the same location
when it follows a hyperlink to open a Web page.

AutoCAD layers visibility

I convert models from AutoCAD with unlocked retained layers to pdf. In pdf i get the model with all layers. All layers hase its visibility checkbox, but if i uncheck them they all remain visible. I want to make a pdf with the functionality making layers visible or unvisible. Can anybody help me, how to do it?

I have analysed your issue, this is a limitation of the prodcut we are working on improving this for a future version of APEX, but nothing has been scheduled yet and I am not able to provide a date or version for the implementation of the fix
Actually, layers visibility are not properly managed when converting AutoCad model files using 3D conversion parametres.
Workaround:
1/ Open dwg file
2/ Import optiond dialog box get displayed
3/ Uncheck option " Convert Model Space to 3D
4/ Check layout and layers options: (select All)
-> file will be converted as 2D entity and visibility of the layers is working well
We will keep you update when a fix will be available.

How can I find all locked layers (visible or not) and then Unlock All at once?

OK, for anyone who cares here's the scenario.
I was on a tight deadline. I got a massively layered, -- nested folders everything -- .psd
I'm using Photoshop CS 5.5
I only needed the visible layers. So, I go to "Delete Hidden Layers" right? Ooops it was grayed out, I could not use it -- Ahhh that was because of the locked layers...
No problem. Ugh wait.
Then I realized -- in the complicated layer structure I had to go through every single folder, open it, look for a locked layer and unlock it (nested folders inside of nested folders etc.). If the layer was not visible and it was locked, I had to first turn it to visible, then unlock it, and then turn it off again.
Aaaarrggghhh I was on a deadline, and I just didn't have time -- but I had to do it anyway.
This was a painful experience... I'm telling designers from now on NEVER SEND ME A PSD WITH LOCKED LAYERS AGAIN
It would have been so much easier if I could just search for "locked layers", and "unlock all."
Does anyone know of a solution? Probably something I should have known years ago, or maybe a feature request?

How to Make all Layers Visible in Final Photo?

Hello, I'm new at PS and CS5. While retouching a portrait, I've created 5 layers. When the eye is open on all layers in the layers palette the only layer that seems to be active is the one on top of the list. If I move a different layer to the top, then that layer is active and the others, even though marked active, are not visible in the actual photo. I tried merging all the layers and there was no difference. What am I missing? Thanks.

If you're duplicating a layer to make changes, then you are duplicating all the pixels on that layer. I don't know why a tutorial might suggest that, except perhaps to give you a point to go back to if something goes wrong. It's important to note that such a layer, assuming you keep it at 100% opacity, will completely occlude all layers below it.
A similar technique which builds upon lower layers and does involve all layers being visible is this:
1. Create a new, completely transparent layer.
2. Use tools such as Clone, Fill, Paint, etc. to draw on the transparent layer (setting them to sample from layer(s) below).
In this fashion you can have the entire original image intact, yet create a derivative work that involves layers that have just the changes on them.
Again, the key here is opacity. If a layer is transparent (or partially transparent, or parts of it are transparent), you can see through it to information from layer(s) below.
If a layer is 100% opaque and there are no "holes" erased in it or masked from it, then any layers underneath are not participating in the look of the image. But they may still be there to provide you a handy reference for what the image looked like before changes, etc.

Make layers visible/unvisible

We have a flash project, and it is related to some
modifications of the text.
Unfortunately, I'm not working only for myself, I'm just a
coder. Designer prepared all the staff, everything in MC as needed,
but inside movieClips there are more than 10 layers, and sometimes
not all of them needed to be shown.
Unfortunately, objects in that movieClips are just drawings.
Because, there are hundreds of that staff, is it possible to
make the total layer invisible/visible programmatically?
("make everything mc" is not a solution :( )
Digging in help, found this:
The following example makes all objects in the first layer
invisible:

but it is working only in mx version. Need something similar
in as3 or at least as2.

Table ctrl - no screen-name - hav groupid but not visible in Loop at screen

In pa30, for a pernr, of infotype 0008, we have a table control.
In that table control, i hav to hide a field. ex: bet01
it has value..by default it will appear on the screen...
Now I want this value not to appear on the screen.
in loop at screen, i am not able to find the sceen-name(Q0008-bet01 or no Q fields...)
It loops for all the p fields..and exits the loop.
How can I hide the q fields..
I have tried with groupids...but, in loop at screen unable to find the groupids...so no use..
screen name and groupid are there for this field...
Any solution???????????

How can I create a PDF with cad layers visible and switchable?

I am producing CAD drawings in Vectorworks 2013 on a Mac OS X 10.6.8. I can export these as Autocad .dwg files and read them in E-Drawings viewer but do not have Autocad. I want to create a PDF of a drawing for a client to use which will display Vectorworks classes (Autocad layers) and they will be able to turn these classes (layers) on and off. I understand the client has received such files from other parties (probably using Autocad).

Try exporting any other word file to PDF and check if this could be a document specific issue.

Toggle Layers Visibility Animation in Pre-Comp

Hi, I want to make a pre-comp with 2 mouse-pointer images, the one has the normal state, the other image has teh pressed pointer state. Now in a parent layer it'd be wonderful if I could use this pointer-pre-comp and when ever I want to show a pressed-pointer, I set a keyframe set (pree / unpress) to the pointer-pre-comp within the parent-pre-comp ... is such a thing doable ? Because rt now I'm animating out every single step.

If you know anything about expressions you could do it with a Slider Controll. Because the pointer and the over state are different sizes you'll have to change opacity of both layers. I'm calling your pointer comp "pointerComp" (this name doesn't matter) and attaching adding the expression slider to a null named PointerController (not important) in the mainComp i'm naming "Main Comp" (and that name matters a bunch). I also named the slider Opacity Slider by selecting it in the ECW and pressing return the same way you rename layers in the timeline.
Here's the expression for the over layer's opacity:
comp("Main Comp").layer("PointerController").effect("OpacitySlider")("Slider");
for the second or normal layer we'll do something a little different. I'm going to subtract the value of the slide from 100 because opacity can only be in values from 0 to 100.
The expression looks like this:
100 - comp("Main Comp").layer("PointerController").effect("OpacitySlider")("Slider");
The only typing I did to create these expressions was to type in the 100 -
The rest was created entirely with the pickwhip by separating the two timelines and locking the null's Effect Controller window.
The last part of the solution is set keyframes and animate the Opacity Slider between 0 and 100. You can set pairs of keyframes a couple of frames apart if you want a little fade, or you can set the keyframes to Hold Keyframes using Animation>Toggle Hold Keyframe or using the keyboard shortcut Alt/Option + Cmnd/Ctrl + H.
Here's what the project looks like. It took longer to explain it than to do it.

Layers visible on opening PDF

I have a PDF form which uses layers, with instructions on how to reveal the layers by clicking on the layer icon. Some of my clients seem to find the simple instructions difficult.
Is there a way of inserting hidden instructions in the PDF form so that is opens the list of layers on opening the form.

I think you should consider this very seriously. If you are showing the file on a web page, most users now will NOT use Adobe Reader. All of the following now include non-Adobe PDF readers:
- Chrome
- FireFox
- Safari in Mac OS 10.10
- IE in Windows 8 (runs Microsoft Reader)
- Browser in iPad, iPod, iPhone
- Browser in android
- All Mac systems (Preview) and Windows 8 systems (Microsoft Reader).
Because many of these will have no UI for layers at all, I cannot recommend the way you are working.
JavaScript can control layers, but catch#22 - these viewers mostly won't support that either.
Indeed, most of these won't fill forms correctly or at all.
We are coming, very fast and surprisingly, into interesting times for PDF forms.

Turned off Layers visible on PDFs in Mac Products

I have several documents with what I call "reference layers" in them that I turn off when making a PDF. When I view the PDF on a Windows based machine, it is fine in both FireFox and IE. When viewing the PDF on a Mac product (iPad, iPhone, Mac desktop), the layers I have turned off are showing up in the PDF. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

If Mike's suggestion doesn't fix your issue, try this. When you save as a PDF with Create Acrobat layers on, the hidden layers can appear on older versions of Acrobat that do not support layers, and possibly other apps as well. Try un-checking this option. I believe a PDF saved with hidden Acrobat layers can have the hidden layers turned back on in Acrobat, so if you don't want anybody to see them, don't include them. On the other hand, if your PDF is complex and uses transparency, including layers should help prevent stitching.

Layers visibility issues

The top three layers as shown have information completed but it seems that I must have turned off the visibilty in these layers yet they still display that the information is still there in the layers panel. And the work document is now in wireframe. I hope its not erased. Any ideas? Thanks for your time!!

Code snippets no longer visible, and looping no longer works. This tool is becoming useless.

I can no longer get the animation to loop.

Save the visibility state of layers?

When designing layouts for a web site with a lot of different pages, I like to keep everything in one psd document, so that all the fixed graphics stay where they belong. Toggling the visibility of various layers to "change between pages" becomes quite a task, when there's lots of material.
So, what I'm after is a possibility to name and save the current state of visibility of all the layers in the psd document. In other words, I could have a "visibility state" called "main page", for example, which means I have all the relevant layers visible: "main page title", "main page header", "main page menu", "main page content" etc., and the rest of the layers would be invisible. Then I could have another saved state called "news page", which means all "news"-related layers would be visible and the rest invisible.
Is there any possibility to do this in Photoshop? If not, I'd really appreciate such option!

Thanks Eric. It appears that I was a couple of steps behind from the Adobe crew, though. Such feature indeed exists, since cs1 actually, it's called "layer comp".
