Layout headings with 0FISCYEAR in data columns
We have a layout with 0FISCYEAR in the data columns as well as a key figure.
We want the column headings to read "2006, 2007, 2008, ...". To achieve that we inserted 0FISCYEAR into the heading column in the layout builder. Unfortunately the result is "Calendar year, 1 spec. period 2006" and so on. I know you get the same result in a query unless fiscal year variant is restricted in the filter. We have included fiscal year variant in the planning level selection, but that doesn't seem to help.
Hi,
U can choose the key only in layout to display the year only.
Thanks,
Debasish

FR Layout issue with large number of columns
Hi!
I'm developing a report in FR 11.1.1.3 with over 30 columns.
The issue is that when I run the report in web preview, the dropdown of dimension in page goes to the far right and disappears from the display.
If I reduce the number of the columns I don't have this problem.
I've already tried to maximize the workspace to the maximum without any result.
Can anyone help me to deal with reports with large numbers of columns?
Regards,
Luís

According to the supported platform matrices (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/oracle-hyperion-epm-system-certific-2-128342.xls), check tab EPM System Basic Platform, row 70, in order IE8 to work, FR and Workspace should be patched.

SUB Totals within a Dynamic Data Column
Has anyone ever calculated SUB Totals in a Layout with a Dynamic Data Column?
The TOTAL for all data is expressed on the Data Column tab of the Layout as C(1):C(1) - 0FISCPER / Posting Period is the Dynamic Characteristic. When the system actually displays the 12 columns of data for the Year, the formula for TOTAL is also adjusted - no problem here. But the user also wants SUB Totals, by Quarter, within the Year.
Any insight or suggections are appreciated !
Thanks,
LyleHello,
use variables Q1, ..., Q4 for the quarters and create
data colums as follows
1 Q1 dynamic = X
2 Total C(1)
3 Q2 dynamic = X
4 Total C(3)
5 Q3 dynamic = X
6 Total C(5)
7 Q4 dynamic = X
8 Total C(7)
9 Year Total C(2)C(4)C(6)+C(8)

OSB business service transforming a date column 1936 to 2036 ( 1950)
Hello, I'v a database view with a normal date column "geburtsdatum".
Data Dictionary:
GEBURTSDATUM DATE
Now with JDeveloper I create a db-adapter. This works fine.
On OSB I do generate a business service on the just created jca file. Also this works fine.
XSD for db adapter:
<xs:element name="geburtsdatum" type="xs:dateTime" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
I can test this business service successfully, everything is fine, but not the date interpretation when birtdate <1950
Sample geburtsdatum (birtdate): 29-JUL-1934
DATABASE: 29.07.1934
OSB Business Service: 29.07.2034
Why or where happends this date conversion?
This is very strange, anyone had the same problem?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Best regards,
RetoAfter all I found the solution. Again the problem has been caused on DB side.
I'm using a view. On this view I had a DATE column with a decode. I think I did a clean TO_DATE casting, but it seems as the OSB DB Adapter did not interpret this correctly.
(on database side with SQL I did not have any problems here)
My solution was:
Using a date returning function (which does my decoding) in my view :
CREATE VIEW xyz AS
SELECT ...
, myPackage.removeMaxDate(n.geburtsdatum) as geburtsdatum
FROM ...

Date Column Defaulting to 12:00 AM When It Shouldn't
I have a column called 'Archive Date'. All it is is a date field with a timestamp in the format dd/mon/yy HH:MI AM. When I added the table with this Archive Date column to my business area it looks fine. If I look at a list of values in today's date range, I see: (17-Nov-09 10:15 AM), (17-Nov-09 10:18 AM) and (17-Nov-09 10:23 AM). All still looks fine.
But, when I create a report, the Archive Date column for all records from November 17th looks like this: (17-Nov-09 12:00 AM). Regardless of whether the list of values shows it should be 10:15, 10:18 or 10:23, they all show 17-Nov-09 *12:00 AM* in the report. It makes me think the report can't see the 3 distinct times and it's just plugging in 12:00 AM because it doesn't see a value. But, why would that be if the business area can see all 3 distinct times? Discoverer can even see the 3 times when I'm editing the workbook. It sees 17-Nov-09 10:15, 10:18 and 10:23 when I'm looking at the list of values from Edit Worksheet. But, when the report is run, it only shows 12:00 AM (which isn't even an option).
Any ideas as to what's going on with this date column?
Thanks! That didn't work either. I'm still getting the wrong timestamp.
But, I did try something else, with more unexpected results. Just for the heck of it, I exported my workbook to excel (the workbook showing the 12:00 AM timestamps). When I opened the Excel file, it has the Archive Date with the correct times. Very strange. I export the workbook with all 17-NOV-09 12:00 AM timestamps in every Archive Date row, and in Excel it opens with the correct dates (17-NOV-09 10:15, 10:18 and 10:23 AM). So weird.
That seems to reinforce that Discoverer can at least see the dates as they exist in the data warehouse, but for some reason, it insists on displaying 12:00 AM. And exporting the 12:00 AM results to Excel actually produces the correct times. Is this like some Java bug or something? I seem to get bit by Java problems more often than not.
***EDIT***
I shouldn't say your suggestion didn't work entirely. It worked in that I am no longer getting 17-NOV-09 12:00 AM. But, it's returning a timestamp that does not exist for the given record. For example, all 3 Nov 17th timestamps (in the Discoverer report) are now showing 17-NOV-09 10:11 AM. 10:11 AM isn't even a timestamp available in the database for any record in the table. Why did it arbitrarily pick 10:11? It seems like your suggestion to create a TO_CHAR calculation from the column is on the right track, but the 10:11 AM thing is odd.

How show 0FISCPER3 and 0FISCYEAR description in title of BPS data columns?
I have a layout with 24 months and each month have 3 columns (Volume, Price and Faturament). I'm using 0FISCYEAR and 0FISCPER3 in data columns with variables and off-set. In title of columns, just display the year. How to do to show the month and the year in the title of columns? (like 001/2006, 002/2006...)
Hi,
Edit the layout - under Data Column Tab, You can type in anything you want in the 'Heading' field after you have typed in the variable, so Variable (dynamic) and then you can type in any text after that, So if your variables (dynamic) is periods 001 to 012, you can then type in /2006.

Not able to save date column with custom date format. in OBIEE 11g
Hi,
I have migrated one report from OBIEE 10g to 11g. There is a date column with customized date format(i.e. Default format is 'dd-MMM-yyyy' and I have used 'MMM-yyyy').
But when I use this custom format and try to save the report in 11g its giving this below error.
''Catalog object privilege validation failed for user to path /shared/ALM BI/Finacial Results/History Income Statement Detail.
You do not currently have sufficient privileges to save a report or dashboard page that contains HTML markup.

Please let me know what changes I need to do for this.

BPS Planning Layout - Data Column issues
My basic question is: is it possible to configure a characteristic in the data column such that it contains a range of values, instead of just a single value. We have requirements to produce a series of comparison columns for things such as "Year-to-Date" (sum of a range of fiscal periods), "Prior 12 Months" (again, sum of a range of periods), and so forth. Unfortunately, the BPS layout configuration of data columns only allows you to specify a single characteristic value. If you configure it with a variable that contains the range, the system only uses the LOW value of the range, not the full range. The ability to provide such comparison columns is critical to our users' ability to see prior information and make a determination of new plan values for the plan year.
Any thoughts or suggestions on how I should approach this, or alternative approaches to take?John,
This has been an issue with BPS since you can only display data columns of the granularity you specify rather than a range such as YTD similar to what you can do in BW restricted key figures.
The work around is to create and store the numbers in
1) YTD key figure in say fiscal year current year fiscal period current period and/or
2) Prior 12 months Key figure and store the number against fiscal year current year fiscal period # or first period period of the year...
Hope this helps and assign points if you found it useful.

Hi everyone, again landed up with a problem.
After trying a lot to do it myself, finally decided to post here..
I have created a form in form builder 6i, in which on clicking a button the data gets exported to excel sheet.
It is working fine with a single table. The problem now is that i am unable to do the same with 2 tables.
Because both the tables have same number of columns & column names.
Below are 2 tables with column names:
Table-1 (MONTHLY_PART_1)
Table-2 (MONTHLY_PART_2)
SL_NO
SL_NO
COMP
COMP
DUE_DATE
DUE_DATE
U-1
U-1
U-2
U-2
U-4
U-4
U-20
U-20
U-25
U-25
Since both the tables have same column names, I'm getting the following error :
Error 402 at line 103, column 4
alias required in SELECT list of cursor to avoid duplicate column names.
So How can i export the data to excel which has 2 tables with same number of columns & column names?
Should i paste the code? Should i post this query in 'SQL and PL/SQL' Forum?
Help me with this please.
Thank You.You'll have to *alias* your columns, not prefix it with the table names:

Facing problem with a date column in select query
Hi,
I am facing problem with a date column. Below is my query and its fainling with " invalid number format model" .
Query: SELECT *
FROM EMP
WHERE trunc(LAST_UPDATED) >= to_date(to_char(22-05-2009,'dd-mm-yyyy'),'dd-mm-yyyy')
LAST_UPDATED column is "DATE" data type.
Please help me ThanksRadhakrishna Sarma wrote:

You do not need the TRUNC here in any case.
I don't think so. What if the user wants only data for 22nd May and the table has records with date later than 22nd also? In that case your query willl not work. In order for the Index to work, I think the query can be written like this I think Sean is right though. Use of TRUNC Function is quiet useless based on the condition given here, since the to_date Function used by OP will always point to midnight of the specified date, in this case 22-05-2009 00:00:00.

Jo
Edit: I think Sean proved his point... ;) -
Algning new folder with other data columns in a document library
Hi All,
I have created an InfoPath form that used to create a new form & a new document library and the description to that folder.
Now my InfoPath form has some text boxes to store data. Also there is an attachment control to upload documents. These documents should be uploaded to the newly created folder.
The new folder should display at the document library as in the same row with other data columns that were inserted to the data library. I have the problem with the new folder aligning in the same row with other data.
So if someone can know how to solve this matter please enlighten me.
Thank You,
Chiranthaka. Can you provide more detail on what exactly you need to achieve and how your system is functioning at the moment? It sounds like you have an Infopath form that can have documents attached to it, you then store these documents into a new folder and wish to
have the folder represented in the list view for the form in the form library you are using? -
Data column in Manual planning Layout
Hi,
I have a KF in data column and year as a dynamic in the data column. Year is restricted to 2006 and 2007 in the planning level. When layout is executed is displays 2 columns 2006 and 2007 other then lead cols which as expected. Now at this stage I can enter data for both 2006 and 2007. What I want is that when layout is executed the col for 2006 should be display only and the user should be able to enter data only for the col 2007. How can this be achieved?
Thank you,
samGoto the planning area and create a data slice. When you get to the data slice screen on the right hand side in Bps0, you will see list of characteristics and go to the fiscal year and in that in from column, enetr 2006. Save the model
Execute the layout and you will see the cell for 2006 greyed out.

APEX_UTIL.IR_FILTER with BETWEEN operator for date columns
Hi,
when I run my application I can set a BETWEEN-filter for date columns. I can't find a way how to use it with the APEX_UTIL.IR_FILTER function. Maybe I miss something?
Documentation: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/apirefs.40/e15519/apex_util.htm#CHDDDFBF
TobiasTobias,
If you think about it, a "Between" is nothing more than a single line way to say
WHERE :X >= :Y
AND :X <= :Z
So you should be able to apply two filters to the report using the LTE and GTE operators
Hope this helps
