Layout of folder portlets

When I display a folder portlet on a page a category linkon a banner and a link showing the path to where I am are automatically created. Is there any way I can remove these links/banner? I would really appreciate to get an answer ASAP. Thanks.

Unfortunately "page" or "line" layout options are the only ones available from the Sun RI. I found that out the hard way last week.
There are a couple of options. The MyFaces (tomahawk) checkbox component supports a "grid" layout. Although I did not use that option, it might be worth trying if you want to go that route.
I ended up extending the Sun RI renderer for both checkboxes and radio buttons. It's not too difficult, especially if you're using Facelets (no tag class required). Extending an RI renderer is risky because new versions can break your subclass, but it's a fairly easy solution if you're willing to put up with that risk.
I posted some brief notes on my solution. It's not complete, but it should be enough to get you started.

  • Link to Folder in Folder Portlet

We display our folder contents within a portlet. It's important that all of those links present their contents in the portlet. This typically works.
However, if an item is linking to another folder, the link presents its content on the entire page, not within the portlet.
How can I link from one folder to another and keep the result within my portlet?

    Luke,
For inplace display, use parameter passing. The only drawback is that the parameters will be seen in the address bar.
You will need to use an intermediate handler procedure, which accepts your folder display call and builds the page URL
with the parameters attached. In your folder portlet, use wwpro_api* to get the parameters.
Check out the parameter passing portlet for tips on how to implement parameter passing in plsql portlets.

  • Link to content area from a folder portlet

We have deployed a folder portlet and a perspective portlet on a portal page. Each portlet is part of a small region on the page and rather than navigate through the folders in the portlet, we want to open the folder in the content area. So when a user selects the folder link in the folder portlet, the folder in the content area is opened.
At present the sub-folders are displayed in the small portlet region until we select an item which opens in a new window...
    Thanks

Unfortunately, the only way to do this would be to not show the sub-folder region and add URL items in another region that link to the folder page in question.

  • Disappering content in folder portlets (3.0.9)

I built a page with multiple (3) levels of tabs. On the lower level of these tabs folder portlets and portlets of content areas folders are defined. When developing all looks well in that session and so all content is shown correctly.
When I log in later with any user, so also as the owner of the page and content, the folder portlets won´t show up! But when I edit the page and hide and unhide the portlets in most times the missing show up again.
Help me understand the problem and find a solution.
    Thanx, Dolf-Jan Mulder

May be a problem with caching. I suggest you report this problem to Oracle support for assistance in determining the problem. But first, make sure that you have applied all the 3.0.9 patch sets available on Metalink.

  • Oracle Seeded Providers Shared Objects Folder Portlet

    Hi,
I was wondering if there was an api, or some other way of setting the folder that will be displayed in the Folder portlet in the Oracle Seeded Providers: Share Objects area.
    Thanks,
    Tom

I was able to find the API for this. I was able to use the wwpre_api_value API. I have two issues still. The first is with setting the value for titleid though the API.
The second is when I login as the user I'm testing, there is nothing in the folder portlet. If I click on the customize link, the folder I try to set with the API is in the pop-up window. So it seems like I'm setting almost everything correctly since it is seeing what I set in the pop-up window, but I'm missing something because it's not making it all the way to the portlet.
    Any ideas would be great.
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • Rewrite Portal Folder Portlet

I am trying to rewrite the Oracle Portlet Folder Portlet to add the simple functionality of showing the last Update Time of each item/folder that the portlet is displaying.
Has anyone done this already? Any words of wisdom in pursuing this? Why the heck does Oracle have to wrap all their code? Is this a realistic thing to attempt?
Thanks for any comments or feedback.
    Daniel Wintschel

    James/Daniel,
Any luck finding anything on this? I'm about to do the same thing (we need to display just a little bit more on each item than the out-of-the-box components will let me do), so if this has already been done and I can just "borrow" the code, that would be great!

  • Folder Portlet will not display edit (or anything else)

    I am portal30.
I created a new content area.
I clicked the "Edit Root Folder" link of my content area, and published it as a Portlet.
    I created a new page.
I added my newly created content area as a portlet to the page.
    I saved my page.
WHen I view the page (as Portal30), the page is blank where my content area should be displayed.
Can you give me some hints. I have been playing around for a while and can't "get it right".
    Thanks!

    Hi
U got to check the 'Access' settings under 'Edit Root Folder', u have to give appropriate access rights to enable the users to view/edit the content area.
    Hope this helps

  • Personal Folder portlet

I'm trying to create a portlet that displays the personal folder of the user who logged in. I've been successful (up to a point) by using wwv_cornershow.show. Now I am aware the disclaimers that come with using non-published APIs, especially regarding content areas. Anyway, my problem is that the portlet that gets created does not use the stylesheet of the page where it is placed. I've looked everywhere, but I can't find where I can specify on the cornershow package which stylesheet should be used. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Cannot publish a folder in my content area as a portlet

    All,
Has anyone out there experienced or encountered the following problem depicted below. If yes, please let me know what you did or what steps/procedures you implemented to resolve this problem.
    1. Go to content area an click the "Edit Folder" link.
    2. Click the "Create Folder" link an select "container" as your folder type.
    3. Click the next button and enter your folder display name and internal name. Leave the Category combo box as is General).
    4. Click the finish button.
    5. Edit the new folder.
    6. Under the "Portlet Properties" section, set the "publish as portlet" checkbox.
    7. Click the "Apply" or "Ok" button.
When I click the "apply" or "Ok" button, I receive the following error message:
    Error: (WWS-00000)
Copyright) 2001, Oracle Corporation. All Rights Reserved
    Location: PORTAL30.wwv_main.main?p_language=us&p_cornerid=11470&p_edit=1&p_siteid=35&p_currcornerid=11470&p_calledfrom=1
I then click the "back" link on this error page that takes me back to the folder properties page. When I click the "apply" or "ok" button again, I am taken back to my content area page, which is the normal way for this process to work.
When I try adding a "URL" item to this folder, I get a blank page after hitting OK.
Next, I then try to add this folder as a portlet on my page. This folder portlet does not appear in portlet repository.
I subsequently go to the portlet repository and click the "refresh" link. I again encounter the following error message:
    Error: (WWS-00000)
Copyright) 2001, Oracle Corporation. All Rights Reserved
    Location: http://www.reeis.usda.gov/servlet/page?_pageid=52&_dad=portal30&_schema=PORTAL30&_type=site&_fsiteid=2&_fid=1&_fnavbarid=1&_fnavbarsiteid=2&_fedit=0&_fmode=2&_fdisplaymode=1&_fcalledfrom=1&_fdisplayurl=
Oracle support is currently working on this problem through metalink. But, if anyone out there has encountered this problem and had it resolved, can you please forward your solution to me.
    This is very urgent.

In the Catalog, select the folder for the report(s) you want to update in the Folders pane. It should then appear in the Tasks pane (bottom left) with some options.
Select 'Permissions' and make sure that 'Hidden' attribute is unchecked. That worked for me.
There's also a 'Show Hidden Items' check box at the top right of the Catalog area that should be checked to view the filters in the Catalog area (rather than when ediiting a report).

  • Portlet as item in content area folder?

I was wondering if anyone has thought of adding a new item type of type portlet to the folder container?
Is is possible now or coming down the road?
My problem is that I have 260 portlets that the user needs to navigate through in an artificial hierarchy of sorts. Tabs appear to work, but they are ugly when I do lots of nesting.
    Any ideas?

The folder portlet offers only a subset of edit actions. We did
this to conserve space. This will be changed in the next
release of Portal, planned for December.

  • Repost:Edit Folder link/Portlet Customize link

    All,
apologies if this has been asked already.
Need to hide the customize link in Portlet and edit folder link in folder/content area. Better yet, would like to give selective access to these, based on user group (or other acl). I am on 3.0.7. Currently, hiding the header (or banner) is the only way of not showing these links. Do later versions have the same problem ? or has this issue been resolved.
    Thanks
    Sanjay

I had similar problem in 3.0.9
I agree with Karthic that looks like a caching problem.
In the folder portlet, I enabled the Edit option. If a user originally had the privileges to do edit folder, then the folder shows the Edit option.
If later I remove the privileges so that the user only have view content privileges,
then the Edit option still shows up in the folder portlet and if the user clicks on the "Edit"link, then a message like insufficient privileges error comes up.
FYI i don't use any caching for pages.
    Karthic,
have you heard of this problem in 3.0.9?
    Tks!

  • Portlets layout - or pushing the portlets to the limit...

Hi! I am currently working on a projeet where we are planning in using the portlets feature of the pers. engine. The problem we have right now is the limitations related to the layout of the portlets.
So is there anyone out there that has used the portlets without ending up with a portal that looks like myYahoo.com or myGo.com
Any exemple, sample of code, advices would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Christian

There are many WLPS customers that have implemented a non-yahoo style portal. Maybe they can step forward to show you how they did it. If that doesn't work, try contacting your BEA sales rep to see if
they can set you up with our customers that have done this. Also, we recently created a marketing demo that uses WLPS in a very GUI creative way called the Mega Financial Corp demo. I don't know if we are
giving out the JSP source for this but ask your sales rep about it.
Since we ship you all of the JSP source in WLPS for the portal layout (portal.jsp, portalcontent.jsp, and friends) you can freely customize this layout to meet your needs.
    Hope that helps!

  • How to remove the 1st level folder under the main ones at each level

In the normal mode, either in the Content Areas section or in your Folder Portlet on your page -
all the sub folders are rendered in blue, and then under each one, its corresponding sub folders are also rendered in smaller font.
Is there a way to disable this feature, so that one would only see the current folder's children, and then you need to click on a specific child/node/sub folder to see its children and so on.
I would like to remove this default behavior of displaying the children of all the subfolders while you are in a specific folder.

go the layout tab, select the "Sub Folder" region and set the folder level display setting.
By default, it is set to "2".
Keep in the mind that this will no only the current folder, but all other folders attached to this style.

  • Folder region edit links disappear!

    All,
    3.0.7.6.2 + 8.1.6.2 NT 4.0
Created a custom tabset and added it as a portlet to the content area page. then moved the nav bar and folder portlets around. Now when I go to edit the folder style (to edit the folder layout), I don't see the edit links for the folder regions.
I did this twice and get the same problem. Also, when I click on the edit defaults for the content area folder (while editing the CA page), I get a no data found error. I am able to edit defaults for the nav bar.
    Any tips ?
    Thanks

    Jerry,
I tried this in multiple ways and have been able to narrow it down to the following case - "It occurs only if you have more than one regions in your page that is placed in place of the Navigation bar portlet". Please try the following steps and see if you can reproduce the bug...
    1. Create a page and
    a) select the Display No Banner option in the Main tab.
    b) add a new region to the page(Now there will be two regions). Don't place any portlet on the page.
    c) select the Publish as Portlet option for the page.
    d) save the page and go back to Navigator.
    2. Create a new content area.
    a) Edit the page of this new content area and remove the Navigation bar portlet.
    b) Now add the page created in step #1 (above) to the region where the Navigation portlet was.
    c) Save the content area page and go back to Navigator
    3. Click on the contents for the content area created above
    a) select the Styles.
    b) Click on the Edit link for the style
    c) select the Folder Layout tab.
.... do you see the "Edit Folder Region" icons in the folder portlet?
    null
