Lazy Line Painter in Edge Animate

Hello,
I'm trying to achieve something pretty simple, but it's not working for now...
I would like to trace a SVG dynamically, by code. To do that, I used Lazy Line Painter, which seamed to be pretty easy to use.
So I made my SVG, imported it to Lazy Line, and then paste the code into Edge Animate. But this is where it stops...
First, I integrated the script needed into Edge Animate (jquery.lazylinepainter-1.5.1.min & jquery-2.1.1.min), and then I've past the code from Lazy Line to the CompositionReady of the stage. But it's not working, so I guess there is something to change in the code. Does somebody has an idea to make it possible?
Thank you very much for your help, if you can help me with that it will be wonderful!
Here is my code in the CompositionReady:

A line path depending on how it is can be animated with the clip tool situated in the left panel.
Now if your path goes back and forth the clip tool is not appropriate. In this case I would use canvas.
Do you have an image of the path you are talking about.
Next, if you are thinking about animating an element along a path, then you can use the path tool. Select your element. Click on 'Motion Paths. Set the first frame, move the playhead to the amount of time you need. Selet the last frame. Then select the path and add points where you want them.

  • How do I animate say, dropping paint, in Edge?

    I have 4 PNG files, that show drops of paint from a brush at various stages.
    I want to display to the viewer a sequence of paint dripping off the brush, as if flipping a cartoon drawing book...
    I have imported all four images and tried to stack them on top of each other, and manipulate the timeline, to get the images to display in the sequence above, but I have not had the luck I was seeking.
    Any ideas?
    I am new to Edge Animate (29 days left on the trial), and I have had 5+ years of experience with Flash.
    Thanks!

    Opatel,
    Thanks very much for the video link. While a tiny bit hard to understand, and following the speaking of the host in the video was a tad rough at times, the actual Animate steps were very clear!
    Much appreciated.

  • How do I include 'Edge Web Fonts' into Edge Animate?

    How do I include 'Edge Web Fonts' (not Google Web Fonts) into Edge Animate?

    Have you tried to use google fonts? I have used them and they work for me.
    When you add your font for example:
    Copy paste:
    <link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Finger+Paint' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>
    and then for font family.
    'Finger Paint', cursive;
    then select addfont on the addfont screen

  • Installation Error (7) Adobe Edge Animate - Creative Cloud Desktop Application

    I would greatly appreciate help with this, I have scoured the adobe forumns and google and am unable to find a solution.  I am trying to download Adobe Edge Animate from the creative cloud desktop application (PC) and it gives me this error
    !Installation Failed - Learn More
    When I click on learn more it says
    Installation failed
    Errors encountered during installation.(7)
    More information
    However the more information button does not do anything when clicked.  I have had no problems installing my other application, updates and trials with the creative cloud desktop app.
    I have ignored this issue for weeks but I have reached the point in a work project where I need to use the program.  The Desktop application is up-to-date and I even tried disabling my firewall/antivirus but it made no difference.
    Few other details:
    I ran the adobe cleaner for CS6 programs before installing the creative cloud.
    The program fails at 51% Installation.
    Please please please help. Thank you for any information you have and any time you can dedicate to this issue I am having.

    Thank you Jeff, I followed your directions and may have found the issue yet I do now know how to resolve it.
    Some Background:
    When I first installed the Creative Cloud Desktop Application a couple weeks ago I had my main hard drive partitioned into  C: and  D:.
    Because of limited space of my C drive I changed the application install directory (in the Desktop App preferences) to D:.  Despite this it was still installing all the programs to the C:/default path.
    I had posted concerns about this on the forumn after trying restarting and reinstalling yet nothing worked. Despite it listing D: as the install directory it would not install there.
    So finally I just decided to unpartition the drive back to only C:  Prior to the unpartition I was transfering the conents of D to a seperate hard drive and I changed the preferences back to C: in the Desktop app.
    As I was waiting for the files to transfer I decided to start a trial install (as the transfer was taking a while.)  Pushing me over the line of frustration into amusment it then proceeded to install to my D: drive.  At this point it was just doing the opposite of what I wanted.  Regardless I continued with the unpartition and all the applications I have downloaded installed fine since then to my new larger C drive.
    When I looked into the error log for the Edge Animate I noticed this
    08/09/13 15:21:39:504 | [INFO] |  | OOBE | DE |  |  |  | 4300 |  - 0 fatal error(s), 1 error(s)

    This issue just wont leave me alone.
    As I mentioned before the install directory has been set back to C since before the unpartition and all the other programs have installed fine.  Are there somewhere that secret preferences are stored?  This is all the more unbelievable as I prior to reading your instructions I uninstalled the creative cloud desktop app, ran the adobe cleaner for any pre-CC applications as well as a registry cleaner and reinstalled the Desktop App and tried again.
    Thank you very much for directing me to the reason for the error, can you help me figure out why the CC Desktop App is doing this?

  • Constant crashes with Edge Animate and Yosemite

    I'm using Edge Animate running on a macbook pro and it is crashing every few minutes (like many others are reporting).
    The program is up-to-date. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it.
    Sometimes after a minute or two of working, the display features disappear. Old bounding boxes remain but, with some careful cursor action, I can still manipulate the image or symbol. . .  until the entire program freezes. Other times things just stop working (e.g., motion paths). The only solution is to force quit the program -- the button on the crash notice rarely works.
    Each time it crashes, it seems to create another Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014.1 Helper in the Activity Monitor (don't know what that means). I've tried deleting them but it doesn't help.
    In the console, I get
    2/18/15 9:16:30.612 AM Adobe Edge Animate CC 2014.1[4172]: *** Assertion failure in -[NSEvent subtype], /SourceCache/AppKit/AppKit-1343.16/AppKit.subproj/NSEvent.m:2427
    There are 43 lines (!!!) that are identical to the one above.
    This is obviously a known problem and needs to be acknowledged and fixed!

  • Typekit font not displaying in iPad DPS app (created by Indesign) in Web Content (Edge Animate)

    I think I have tried every permutation to make this work, but I am probably missing something.
    I am creating a single DPS iPad app with InDesign, and I am using a Typekit font throughout.  So far so good.
    I have created an Edge Animate project using the same Typekit font.  In preview mode, it is fine as well.
    However, when I place the Edge Animate project into a frame in InDesign and use the Web Content Folio Overlay (regardless of whether I use the .oam file or link directly .html output published by Animate), the Typekit font will not show up in the Edge Animate portion of the DPS app and will instead use a fallback font.
    Can anyone suggest a way to make Typekit fonts in Edge Animate work when embedded in a DPS app?  (For what it's worth, I have the same problem when embedding html output from Tumult Hype, so it seems unlikely that this is an issue with Edge Animate at all and probably has more to do with something in the way the DPS app is dealing with embedded html content.)
    Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Believe me, I understand the pain. Unfortunately there's only so much we can do at Adobe as the EULAs provided by the foundries for their respective fonts are very explicit in where you can and can not use them.
    For example, packaging an InDeisgn file and sending it off for pre-press with the fonts included in the package is in direct violation of most font EULAs. In a studio environment, you're only allowed to have a font installed on n number of computers and need to have multiple licenses to accomidate >n number of seats. When creating a PDF, fonts explicitly have to be subsetted before embedding into the PDF.
    That's just to paint a picture of the fragile state of using fonts in print, usage in digital mediums is just another bee in your bonnet when it comes to considering when you can and cannot use a font.
    Services like Typekit Desktop are trying to make this easier by removing a lot of those pain and condierations for you, by blanketing all these fonts under a single license you're free to use for print and the web. There's still some gotchyas, but we're aiming to greatly reduce how much you have to think about it where we can.
    So yes there's a bit of education when it comes to mixing embedded HTML content/fonts with DPS, but at least there's options

  • Are Adobe EVER going to make Edge Animate scale-to-fit (like Flash)?

    I've been following the progress of Edge Animate (formerly Edge) ever since Steve Jobs decided he wasn't having Flash on the iPad.
    With each new version I've been desperately looking for the feature that I consider the most important of all: Scale-to-fit
    There are a couple of discussions already on this forum where people have requested this feature - but both have been sidetracked by replies from people who haven't understood what 'scale-to-fit' is. So let me explain Scale-to-fit:
    I'm talking about the feature in Flash - where if the HTML dimensions are set to 'Percent' - then the resultant movie will scale-to-fit any browser window. Here is an example of what I mean:
    http://www.skippingschool.co.uk
    - try changing the browser size and you'll see the whole frame (graphics and images) scales without changing its proportions.
    When the latest version of Edge Animate came out with its built-in easy-to-follow 'Resize' Lesson, I thought Adobe had finally found an answer. But good though this feature is, it doesn't solve the problem. It's only possible to properly scale-to-fit images - not graphics.
    It's now more important than ever that Adobe finds a solution to this problem. The world is going 'Responsive' - its not just a fad. And 'Responsive' is not just about three columns being squeezed into one. All Responsive sites require images, graphics AND animations to scale-to-fit. So Adobe's tutorial showing how Edge Animate can be added to WordPress sites is of limited use because it won't work for Responsive web sites.
    So please Adobe, will someone tell me if scale-to-fit is EVER going to happen? I don't mind if it's 3 months, 6 months, 9 months down the line - but I need to know if it's worth me sticking with Edge Animate - or whether I should be looking toward HTML5 Canvas or something else for a solution?
    Alternatively, is there some fundamental reason why it can NEVER happen?
    Please tell me? Just put me out of my misery!

    Hi Sarah,
    I hope you don't mind but I played around with your code a bit and managed to get the kind of scale-to-fit behavior that I believe the OP was asking about.  I think the trick is to make sure that you also check whether the scaled height of the stage exceeds the height of the browser window and change the scaling so that it is responsive to changes in both the width and height of the window, whichever is the limiting factor. The code I changed in CompositionReady appears in bold below.  I hope this helps.
    sym.$("#Stage").css({ // Set the transform origin so we always scale to the top left corner of the stage
    "transform-origin":"0 0",
    "-ms-transform-origin":"0 0",
    "-webkit-transform-origin":"0 0",
    "-moz-transform-origin":"0 0",
    "-o-transform-origin":"0 0"
    function scaleStage() {
        var stage = sym.$('Stage'); // Set a reusable variable to reference the stage
        var parent = sym.$('Stage').parent(); // Set a reusable variable to reference the parent container of the stage
        var parentWidth = stage.parent().width(); // Get the parent of the stage width
        var parentHeight = $(window).height(); // Get the browser window height
        var stageWidth = stage.width(); // Get the stage width
        var stageHeight = stage.height(); // Get the stage height
        var desiredWidth = Math.round(parentWidth * 1); // Set the new width of the stage as it scales
        var desiredHeight = Math.round(parentHeight * 1); // Set the new height of the stage as it scales
        var rescaleWidth = (desiredWidth / stageWidth); // Set a variable to calculate the new width of the stage as it scales
        var rescaleHeight = (desiredHeight / stageHeight); // Set a variable to calculate the new height of the stage as it scales
        var rescale = rescaleWidth;
        if (stageHeight * rescale > desiredHeight) // Do not scale larger than the height of the browser window
                        rescale = rescaleHeight;
    // Rescale the stage!
               stage.css('transform', 'scale(' + rescale + ')');
         stage.css(  '-o-transform', 'scale(' + rescale + ')');
               stage.css('-ms-transform', 'scale(' + rescale + ')');
         stage.css('-webkit-transform', 'scale(' + rescale + ')');
               stage.css('-moz-transform', 'scale(' + rescale + ')');

  • How to adjust bullet points in Adobe Edge Animate?

    How to adjust bullet points in Adobe Edge Animate?
    when a bullet point is long and does not fit in one line it apears in the next line unaligned.

    Hi Elaine,
    Yes, the only way I have discovered so far is using HTML and force it on stage based on my text width size, otherwise bullet list won't be align vertically. This is how currently I do it:
    sym.$("text1").html("<br>● Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit<br>&#160;&#160;&#160;Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit <br>● Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit")

  • Responsive edge animate oam in fluid grid

    Hi, maybe my question is totally rookie one, but I cannot get the responsive Edge Animate package to do resize smoothly in the fuid grid of Dreamweaver.
    Either it is not wide enough or the height does not scale, which results in the footer to be far down.
    It probably has to do with the fixed size of the object tag when I insert the oam.
    <object id="EdgeID" type="text/html" width="960" height="510"  ....
    Changing sizes to 100% works fine for width only, the height behaves strange, showing only a small part of the animation in every view.
    Is this an issue of oam packages or just my poor knowledge of CSS ?
    Attached you find the screenshots:
    Thanks a lot for your help!
    B.

    I came across this problem when recording Adobe Dreamweaver CC: Learn by Video for Adobe Press. The way I handled it was by adding the following block of JavaScript just before the closing </body> tag on the page that contains the Edge Animate object:
    <script>
    function fixHeight() {
      var anim = document.getElementById('EdgeID'),
           w = anim.offsetWidth;
      anim.style.height = (w * .562) + 'px';
    fixHeight();
    window.addEventListener('resize', fixHeight, false);
    </script>
    This gets the width of the animation (the default ID is EdgeID). It then adjusts the height by multiplying the width by 0.562. You will need to fix the scaling ratio in the following line to suit the proportions of your animation:
    anim.style.height = (w * .562) + 'px';
    I can't remember all the details because it's more than a year ago that I did this. As I recall, Edge Animate generates the correct height for the animation, but it doesn't adjust the height of the <object> element used to display it.

  • Edge Animate CC Crashing

    Hey, hoping to get some help here. in the video below you can see how my rulers and and selection tools disappear. if i continue to work like this it will either crash or give me different errors. I've reinstalled several times and even wiped my computer and did a fresh install of mac OS X 10.10.1 kinda getting a little desperate lol. help me obi-wan adobe your my only help....

    My co-worker and I are both experiencing this exact issue. We just started using Edge Animate on our brand new macbook pros. Both machines are top of the line and have plenty of processor and CPU, and have the correct and up-to-date display drivers. Can we have someone look into this for us? We can't even use the product currently. My logs are pasted below. Thanks!

  • InDesign, Edge Animate and SVG import

    I created an Edge animation whose ultimate destination is for an iPad app authored in InDesign. To avoid any font issues and to make this viewable in all iPad flavors (retina), I imported three lines of text as well as a text logo as SVG files from Illustrator in to Edge Animate. All fonts were converted to paths:
    http://www.ampersandmiami.com/edge/
    The link above is what Edge created when publishing for web. It is indeed SVGs and they do appear as such in my desktop machine, on my ipad and on my iphone when I view it using Safari. When I pinch and zoom in, all is rasor sharp. Perfect.
    Here is the issue…
    I unzipped the .oam file Edge creates for import into InDesign. Just to make sure, all my SVGs are there in the images folder. Edge did not create raster versions of any of them. So far so good...
    But, when I place the .oam file in InDesign and preview the app on my ipad using the Aobe Content Viewer, the SVGs are rasterized. I zoom in and they are pixelated. Not good for retina ipads.
    Is there a way of importing my Edge animation and retaining the SVGs as vectors and not making them rasters? Is this an InDesign limitation?
    Any thoughts?

    Unfortunately not at the moment. This is a known issue with Edge placement in InDesign.

  • Is there any code hinting or debugging feature in Edge Animate?

    I notice that edge animate javascript and jquery syntax is somewhat atypical, and at times proprietary. Unlike in Flash and action script, I am unable to get any help from within the program when a block of code fails to execute. I don't know if the problem is with the syntax on one of many lines of code, or that I merely forgot a semicolon.
    I would think that help with coding with the application would be an integral part of the application since user interactivity is so common on many website and that interactivity requires, at times, some sophisticated scripts.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    What about Edge Animate -specific syntax (e.g "Sym.$("something")" vs "this.".) That syntax is not standard js or jquery. Correct? I was hoping that Adobe provided coding help within the program.
    It doesn't seem that this program gets frequent improvements. I've had the program installed on my computer for just shy of three months and there's been no updates whatsoever. To me scripting is an important component of any animation program that is used on the web, where interactivity is key.
    Thank you for your help.
