Ldapbind problem in OVD

Hi all,
I have installed OVD 10.1.4.2 in order to consolidate two set of users( AD users, LDAP users).
I have setup two adapters (1 AD adapter and 1 LDAP adapter) with same root DN.
Now, I found that under the root DN, there are two group of users with different DN format
AD users: cn=user1,ou=Users,dc=mycompany,dc=com
LDAP users: uid=user2,ou=Users,dc=mycompany,dc=com
The difference in the DN format cause my application difficult to authenticate with these users through OVD. Any idea? Anyone try to consolidate different data sources users by using OVD?

Have you tried to apply the inetOrgPerson mapping for the AD Adapter ?
That allows to simulate a UID attribute.
cf documentation or have a look to Plugin in Admin console
Patrick.

    Hello experts,
In our project, we are facing some latency and load problems on OVD, for that we have to perform daily restarts, can u please suggest me what are the effects of this daily restarts, and is there any way to manage this problem.
    Kindly suggest.

This is related to another thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1201281
Note that my temporary workaround to the crappy full screen Quicktime player video quality is to drop my screen resolution from 2560x1600 to 1920x1200. This is still high enough resolution to play the 1080P videos without loss of resolution. The video performance is fine in this mode.
Note that when I have the resolution maxed out at 2560x1600 the playback is divided into two distinct regions. The left third of the screen is very clear and smooth. The rest is jerky. I think this is an issue with the use of the Dual Link DVI that has been introduced as part of the update to Quartz Extreme with Leopard. I can confirm that this is purely a Leopard related issue as I am dual booting Tiger and Leopard and things are still perfect in Tiger (full screen at 2560x1600).
    Hope this helps.

  • Ldapbind to database adapter users in OVD with email

    Hi!
Can anyone tell me howto ldapbind to database adapter users in OVD with email or uid?
Ldapbind with full DN work just fine.
    Thanks!

    >
Also I can bind to users in database CRM OVD-DB table using
    ldapbind -h ovd.mydomain.com -p 6501 -D "cn=extcustomername,cn=customers,cn=users,dc=mydoamin,dc=com" -w %custpwd%
But I getting "ldap_bind: Invalid credentials" error trying to bind with:
    ldapbind -h ovd.mydomain.com -p 6501 -D cn=extcustomername -w %custpwd%You can bind with UPN to AD because AD is special.
You won't be able to bind with cn=extcustomername using out of the box adapter. If you write your own plugin that will look up the DN based on cn=extcustomername, then have the plugin do the bind with the DN for you, it'll work. Then you would have to make sure this plugin will work with the database adapter, I haven't tried it so I don't know.
If you're trying to make this bind with cn=extcustomername work for OAM to OVD, then you don't need to do it. Leave the adapter as is (bind with full DN). External users will login to OAM-protected application with their username or whatever is the value of cn. OAM will then look up the DN based on the cn or any other attribute, this is configured in authentication scheme in credential_mapping plugin. Take a look at the OBE example: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/fusion_middleware/im1014/ovd-oam/index.htm

  • OVD: Database Adapter Query Problem

    Hey Everyone,
I am using a database adapter in OVD 10g and am not able to get the proper results from a query. We have created a view in the database and have pointed OVD at the view. We then set up 7 objectclasses using the DB Attribute Mapping Wizard. When doing a query on the base of the DB adapters we are not getting back all of the proper results one would expect. For instance if I query for objectclass=* I only get back 2 of the 7 objectclasses. Another example would be a query for mail=[email protected] will only return the attributes from the mailRecipient objectclass when normally in LDAP the entire record would be returned.
Does anyone have an idea as to what could be going on? Does anyone have additional resources (beyond the OVD manual) for creating a database adapter?
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    Sorted this out:
Used custom URL and made sure that the OVD Manager IDE was not appending any additional information following the closing bracket of the URL.
The full successful URL was as follows with no values in any of the other fields:
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(LOAD_BALANCE=on)(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = host1)(PORT = 1540))(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = host2)(PORT = 1540))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=SNAME)))

  • Authenticate database users in OVD 11g

    Hello,
This is what I am trying to do:
I have a database with a table having usernames and passwords
I want to authenticate these users in OVD
    e.g. When "ldapbind -h <ovd host> -p <ovd port> -D <any user name in database> -w <password> " is fired, it should get authenticated
I have created an adapter for this database in ODSM and written a java plugin for authentication (operation bind)
however, I am not getting my plugin displayed on console even after restarting the OVD server
    Please help
    Thanks

    Hi,
I recently came across same problem and I have managed to resolve it.
    1) Edit the MANIFEST.MF file as follows:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    vde-package-name: jarfilename
    Created-By: 1.4.2 ("OctetString Inc")
    vde-package-ops-add: false
    vde-package-ops-delete: false
    vde-package-ops-bind: true
    vde-package-version: 1
    vde-package-ops-modify: false
    vde-package-ops-rename: false
    vde-package-ops-get: false
vde-package-description: this is my first plugin
    vde-package-classname: classname
    vde-package-type: 0
    Name: any name
    2) Copy jar file at $INSANCE_HOME/OVD/ovd1/plugins location.
    ex: /home/Oracle/Middleware/asinst_2/OVD/ovd1/plugins/lib
    3) Restart the OVD ( ./opmnctl stopall and ./opmnctl startall)
    I hope this helps,
    Cheers,
    Sunil Kumar

Can anyone help me why this problem occured and how to solve it?

    Hi
    Try to increase socket limits
Normally you can do this within the admin console , Servers -> Configuration -> Tuning -> Socket Readers
For you, since you can't login, set the ThreadPoolPercentSocketReaders in the config.xml to a higher value than 5
    kind regards

  • Error while creating DB Adapter in OVD

when I try to create a DB adapter in OVD for Oracle Database 11g, I always get an error "java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException" on pressing Validate Connection.
I have checked all the values, they are correct. I have installed the ojdbc drivers using the Manage Server libraries.
Has anyone faced similar problem before?
    Regards,
    Monica

What steps did you followed to create the OVD DB adapter. Check with the following documentation and it should be good to go.

  • How to copy OVD configuration from one machine to another?

We have two machines with OVD servers on them. The configurations should be identical from one machine to the other. We suspect there is a problem with the configuration on one of them. We need to know how to copy OVD configuration from one machine to another.
Can you tell us how to do that?

well i have this in mind which may help you.
You would need to have a public ip address to the machine you have consoled to and on internet.
Download the tftp software from below link.
    http://tftpd32.jounin.net/
This software does not only act as the tftp server but also you can select the interface of you ethernet card as tftp server ip address.
For ex if you are connected to a console and have a wireless card which is connected to internet also you connect you eth lan card to the eth or fast eth of the router.
you can select which ever interface you want to act as the tftp server.
you will need to add ip addres for you lan card and also config the router port as same if needed.

  • OVD 11.1.1.5 Schema Change Not Appearing in Adapter

I updated the schema in 11.1.1.5 of OVD. I need custom attributes/object classes available for database adapter mappings. The schema screen shows the attributes and object classes as does the schema.user.xml file. The schema.user.xml file is included in the schemas under Server Settings.
The problem is that when I go to select the object class for the attribute mappings in the database adapter, the new object classes don't appear. I rebooted OVD using opmnctl and the schema changes are still not an option to select in the dropdown menu.
Any suggestions for fixing this would be great.

    Hi Hamm,
The fact that you are saying that "hfm text appears using hfm url" can mean that you have not configured the workspace web server after you configured the HFM. Have you done that?
As another test, have you tried toy connect to HFM via smartview to an existing app?

  • Problem register Oracle Virtual Directory to WebLogic - urgent ... pls help

    Hi,
I'm a new to Oracle product and would like to install and run Oracle Virtual Directory for the following purpose:
Using LDAP client that connects to OVD and to issue ldapsearch command line based on the attrbiutes and filters of each one of the two Directories behind the OVD..
    |-- Tivoli LDAP directory
    LDAP client -> OVD ---|
    |-- MS AD
I have downloaded the identity management package 11g and install only the OVD on Windows 2003 standard machine.
I then realized that I have to install the WebLogic package to have WEB UI to the OVD admin.
So I downloaded the WebLogic 10.3.1.0 package and install it.
I followed the installation instructions of
'Installing and Configuring Only Oracle Virtual Directory Without a WebLogic Administration Domain' at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/install.1111/e12002/ovd.htm#CIHFFAFH
    and complete the installation.
Notice that the OVD and the WeblOgic SW are installed on the same Windows machine.
After that I had to register Oracle Virtual Directory with the WebLogic Administration Server.
Running the command-line I got the following error:

    Details are logged in C:\....\provision.log

    Any thoughts ?

    Hi,
I am also facing the same problem. I have oracle internet directory 11.1.1 installed without domain. I then installed weblogic 32bit exe on same windows server.
while registering getting the same error. I think it is because of bit compatibility. OID is 64bit and weblogic is 32bit. Not sure.
    thanks

  • How to connect ODSM to OVD?

    Hi,
I have OID, OVD, and OIF installed, running on one machine. OPMNCTL shows that ovd appears to be running:
    Processes in Instance: asinst_1
    --------------------------------------------------------------+---------
    ias-component | process-type | pid | status
    --------------------------------------------------------------+---------
    ohs1 | OHS | 1552 | Alive
    ovd1 | OVD | 1560 | Alive
    oid1 | oidldapd | 3088 | Alive
    oid1 | oidldapd | 3048 | Alive
    oid1 | oidmon | 1568 | Alive
    EMAGENT | EMAGENT | 1532 | Alive
I've been able to configure a connection of ODSM to the OID, on port 3060.
But I can't figure out how to do the same for OVD.
I've tried creating a connection to OVD in ODSM, but so far, no success (I get various popups, depending on which port, username/password, etc.).
So, assuming all defaults, which port should I be using when creating the connection to OVD? And, do I use the "weblogic" user for that connection?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Ambarish,
    Thanks for that info.
FYI, I was able to resolve the problem.
You are correct that the port to connect to is 8899 (default), but I also had another problem, for which I found a solution here:
    http://oracleintelligence.blogspot.com/2011/02/ovd-11g-vdeadminservicesoapbindingstub.html
As for the user to use to connect ODSM to OVD: After originally installing 11.1.1.2 awhile ago, I had re-configured things so that I was logging into ODSM using "cn=orcladmin".
So, for the record, after installing the 11.1.1.3 patch today, I was then able to create the ODSM-OVD connection using:
    user: cn=orcladmin
    host: <host_for_OID_server>
    port: 8899 (non-SSL)
    and it worked!!
    Thanks!!
    Jim

  • OVD\OID Adapter - Not working with SSL

    Hello,
    We have:
    OVD 11.1.1.5
    OID 10.4.3
We've successfully setup an OVD adapter using non-ssl\389 to OID. However, when attempting to configure the adapter to use ssl\636, we get the following error when trying to use the adapter to browse OID from within ODSM:
    LDAPException: MalformedRequest (2) Protocol Error
    LDAPException: Server Message: Protocol Error
We've configured the keystore and imported in the key chain from the OID server. We've tried changing the adapter to use No Auth or Server Only\ Mutual Auth, neither makes a difference. We can LDAP bind on 636 so I don't think our firewall is a problem.
Nothing of substance (to me anyway) is logged in wls_ods1.log or diagnostic.log.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ariel

    Hi,
have you followed the steps described in the Oracle® Fusion Middleware Administrator’s Guide for Oracle Virtual Directory 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) E10046-06
If you haven't just go to the chapter 12.1.2.
I face a problem with AD adapter
can you please describe the steps to configure AD adapter to use SSL?
I have followed the steps described in Administration Guide
    1) Create ldap adapter for Active Directory named "User Adapter AD"
    2) In LDAP server details use port 389
    3) Create changeLog adapter for Active Directory named "ChangeLog Adapter AD"
    4) In LDAP server details use port 389
5)Import Acitve Directory certificate to OVD keystore: adapters.jks
    6) Change both ldap server details to use ssl, port 636 ,SSL Authentication Mode: No authentication
When i click to verify host the message is "SSL communication previously confirmed" and the status is Warning: Trusted Certificates
    Thanx,
