OVD: Database Adapter Query Problem

Hey Everyone,
I am using a database adapter in OVD 10g and am not able to get the proper results from a query. We have created a view in the database and have pointed OVD at the view. We then set up 7 objectclasses using the DB Attribute Mapping Wizard. When doing a query on the base of the DB adapters we are not getting back all of the proper results one would expect. For instance if I query for objectclass=* I only get back 2 of the 7 objectclasses. Another example would be a query for mail=[email protected] will only return the attributes from the mailRecipient objectclass when normally in LDAP the entire record would be returned.
Does anyone have an idea as to what could be going on? Does anyone have additional resources (beyond the OVD manual) for creating a database adapter?
Thanks,
Stephen

Sorted this out:
Used custom URL and made sure that the OVD Manager IDE was not appending any additional information following the closing bracket of the URL.
The full successful URL was as follows with no values in any of the other fields:
jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=(LOAD_BALANCE=on)(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = host1)(PORT = 1540))(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = host2)(PORT = 1540))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=SNAME)))

  • OVD Database Adapter w/ JDBC Thin Driver to 10G RAC DB Resource

I'm looking for feedback as to whether anyone has successfully consumed a RAC database resource through an OVD database adapter? If so, I am interested in what your host value in the adapter ui looked like.
I am successful with this connection only if I go against one of the RAC nodes directly, thus losing redundancy.
    This is OVD 10G 10.1.4.3 on RHEL4
    RAC DB 10G
    I have tried:
    (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(LOAD_BALANCE=ON)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=10.26.4.203)(PORT=1540))(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=10.26.4.204)(PORT=1540)))
    (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = myhost)(PORT = 1540))(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = myhost2)(PORT = 1540))(LOAD_BALANCE = yes)(CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = SCHTESTS)(FAILOVER_MODE = (TYPE = SELECT)(METHOD = BASIC)(RETRIES = 200)(DELAY = 5))))
    (DESCRIPTION=(LOAD_BALANCE=on)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=myhost)(PORT=1540)) (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=myhost2)(PORT=1540))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=SCHTESTS)))
OVD Manager seems to anticipate this format because it then rejects inputs on the host and port form fields which I take as a positive indicator.
Otherwise, this feels like taking shots in the dark...
Any assistance or feedback is much appreciated.

  • Use of current time for polling Database Adapter query

I am writing a simple BPEL process with a Polling Database Adapter and a Recieve. The idea is that we are polling an XE database for any entries in a TRIP table which have an expiration date/time field that has passed.
The Adapter was build using JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 (with Oracle Application Server patched to 10.1.3.3.0) as a "Poll for New Changed Records in a Table" Operation type with a STATUS field (0 for live, 1 for expired) as the Logical Delete Field.
I was unable to find a way to generate a SELECT query expression with the wizard that would allow me to use current/system time as an attribute, so I finished the wizard and edited the Toplink Descriptor to use a custom SQL expression for the query. This resulted in the following code in the toplink_mappings.xml file:

To test I used the above custom SQL at the command line and it filtered the records by EXPIRY_TIME as expected.
When deployed, the polling process updates the STATUS file dof table entries, but all entries with status 0 regardless of EXPIRY_DATE. My modification appears to be being ignored. I was unsure as to whether the QUERY was being determined in some other way so I modified the descriptor (with the toplink expression editor) to compare against a literal time value, producing the following modified toplink_mappings.xml:

On deployment, this version of the BPEL process behaved as expected - only modifying the records with EXPIRY_TIME less thatn the literal time specified. (Also, I can't really pass in the time as a parameter as this is a polling model).
Can anyone shed any light on what is happening or suggest how I might go about polling in the desired way?
    Cheers

Please take a look at this article which states SYSDATE is not supported in a
    where clause.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/bpel_cookbook/qualcomm-bpel.html
    Excerpt from the article:
Here are three important things you should do in implementing the above design:
Have the status of the record being processed stored in the database. The status includes the process state, next process attempt time, and processing attempt count.
Create an updatable view that exposes only records that are ready to be processed. A view is needed because the database adapter cannot handle a where clause that compares against SYSDATE.
Design logic that determines if a process instance that has faulted should be retried and when the retry should occur. This information will be updated in the database by use of a stored procedure. This can also be done with an update partner link and additional logic in BPEL.

  • OVD database adapter and WHERE clause

    Hi all,
We're using OVD 11g, and have a database adapter defined against a table in an Oracle schema. The adapter correctly maps columns to LDAP attributes and creates a virtual directory.
However the table contains users we don't want to appear in the directory. We have no control over the data in the table hence we cannot remove the unwanted users from the source.
Is there any way we can specify a WHERE clause in the database adapter which limits the users pulled out of the table and created in the virtual directory? Something like WHERE organisation = 'Company A'.
    Thanks
    Alan

You can specify LDAP filters in Routing Include/Exclude in Adapter configuration which will eventually translate into where clause for the database adapter.
For example if you want to exclude users from organization A all you have to do is Add an LDAP filter for that organization in Routing Exclude...
Same is the case for Routing Include.
    Hope this helps,
    Saggu

  • BPEL process initiated by a database adapter causing problems in HA environ

We are having a High Availability architecture configuration(active - active) for the BPEL System in our production environment.
The BPEL servers are clustered in the middle tier of the architecture and RAC is used in the database tier of the architecture.
We have a BPEL process which is initiated by a database adapter.
This BPEL process polls a source database, reads the data, writes it into a JMS Topic and marks flag as read back to the table.
A Message Driven Bean(MDB) listens to the JMS Topic, and writes the data in the destination database.
We have the polling process and the MDB deployed to both the nodes of the BPEL server.
We have noticed that some records are getting processed by both the nodes.
This is resulting in duplicate records at the destination tables.
Kindly advise how we can resolve this issue.

The BPEL servers are configured with active - active topology and RAC is used in the database tier of the architecture.
BPEL Servers is not clustered. Load Balancer is used in front of the two nodes of the BPEL servers.

  • Database Adapter Polling problem

    Hi All,
The polling option is processing all the rows in a table at a time instead of using polling frequency. I have used an option of update a field (logical delete) where I have initialized unread value='N' and read value='Y'. Now ,the problem is i have to poll a single row from the table for every 60 seconds ( second row should be processed only after 60 seconds), but all the rows are processing at a same time. Can somebody let me know what could be the problem?
The options that I set in db adapter are:
    Polling Frequency: 60 seconds
Database &rows per XML Document: 1
    Database Rows per transaction: 1
    JDBC options , Query & Timeout: 60

  • OVD database adapter

    Hi,
I have created two database adapters and one join view adapter to combine the data from the two adapters in OVD. Now i have written a custom authentication plugin in C for OAM 10g, wherein i am doing an ldap search on the join view adapter. When i invoke the plugin the first time during the day i get an error LDAP Operations Error for the ldap search query. After this it works fine and i don't get the error again. Can anyone let me know the reason for this.

  • Database adapter correlation problem

    Hi,
I have to create process with this scenario:
Started by db adapter polled table 1 for update.
    Invoke asynchronous webservice
Waiting for message from db adapter polled table 2 for update.
    How to correlate this.
I create process started by db adapter and I have problem to correlate it with soap wsdl operation.
When I replace db adapter operation with soap operation based on adapter xsd correlation works fine.
    Thank you in advance

I tried to add another adapter which works fine and there was no correlation problem.
After hours of testing I decide to remove malfunctioned adapter and create it again.
    Fortunately works without problem.

  • Database Adapter: Insert, relationships, sequences and problems of course

    Hello Everyone!!
I'm trying to do an insert in an Oracle Express Database with a database adapter. I'm trying to do the insert in two tables: SOLICITUDES with a column called NUMSOLICITUD that is also the primary key of the table and it's populated from its own sequence and the other table whose name is DOCJUST with a field NUMSOL. SOLICITUDES has a 1:M relationship with DOCJUST and the fields used in this relationship are NUMSOLICITUD and NUMSOL. The problem is that when the adapter do the insert, the first insert made on SOLICITUDES is correct, but when it tries to insert in the DOCJUST table, when it's supposed to insert in NUMSOL the same value inserted in NUMSOLICITUDES instead of that, a NULL value is inserted in NUMSOL so the process fails. Is it because the NUMSOLICITUDES column is populated from a sequence? How can I resolve that?
    Thanks!!

    Hi,
OK, I found the following article: http://soa-bpel-esb.blogspot.com/2010/04/understanding-catch-and-catchall.html
Using the info from that article I have created a test flow, which contains the same insert database adapter as the production flow. I have placed the Invoke within its own scope and attached a "CatchAll" block to this scope. To this block I have added a "empty" step (do nothing).
In my tests, I see the desired results i.e. the second time I initiate the flow with the same data, the CatchAll block executes, which does nothing, and processing continues after the scope.
So far so good - my query is how would I catch the specific error of unique index violation rather than general catchall?
As before, and assistance/comments greatly appreciated.

  • Database adapter vs sql query

Hi all, I am developing a small SOA application using a synch BPEL and Database adapter. But I have some problems getting the database results this is the query
    SELECT t1.Location, t1.ID, t2.quantity, t1.Name
    FROM tblitem t1 JOIN tblorderitem t2 ON (t1.id = t2.itemid)
    JOIN tblorder t3 ON (t2.orderid = t3.ID)
    WHERE (t3.id = #Order_id)
    ORDER BY t1.Location
which get a sorted list according to the Order_id parameter, this query works perfectly on sqlplus, but not in database adapter, Anyone knows why?

Hi Arik, I have managed to solve the problem. I don't actually understand why, but it is now solved. I am going to explain how I fixed the problem and I hope you or someone else can understand why.
I am using three tables each one contains this information
    tblItem
    ID NUMBER
    Location NUMBER
    tblOrderItem
    ID NUMBER
    ItemID NUMBER
    OrderID NUMBER
    Quantity NUMBER
    tblOrder
    ID NUMBER
And I changed the previous query to this
    SELECT t1.Location, t1.ID, t2.quantity, t1.Name
    FROM tblitem t1 JOIN tblorderitem t2 ON (t1.id = t2.itemid)
    WHERE (t2.OrderID = #Order_id)
    ORDER BY t1.Location
I think that I had redundant information adding tblOrder which is filtered by OrderID, when that field is already in tblOrderItem. I don't think this matters, because I can match as many tables as I want to make a bigger query. Anyway, If you know the answer, please let me know.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Problems while compiling a project that uses Database Adapter

    Hi,
I am working on a small WebService that uses the Database Adapter to connect with the Oracle-Lite database. The process is a synchronous process which has client and DatabaseService as the partner link. The goal of this project is to get two inputs from the user and send it over to the DatabaseService for it to select the rows from the table based on the inputs sent. The process activity has an invoke function which had two varibles Invoke_1_inputVarible and Invoke_1_outputVarible. I have included the *.xds that contains the database schema. When I compile the project i get the following error
Error(38): [Error ORABPEL-10035]: wrong messageType [Description]: in line 38 of "D:\OraBPELPM_2\integration\jdev\jdev\mywork\Workspace1\Login\Login.bpel", messageType "{http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/db/ds/}EmployeeRole_msg" of variable "Invoke_1_dsSelect_InputVariable" does not match the expected messageType "{http://xmlns.oracle.com/pcbpel/adapter/db/ds/}dsSelect_inparameters" in <invoke>. [Potential fix]: make sure the correct variable is used in invoke.
My question is how do I assign correct messageType for the variables.

  • Build dynamic SQL query in Database Adapter.

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to build dynamic sql query at Database Adapter.
My BPEL process is getting search spec as input from siebel. I need to process this searchspec in BPEL and need to build the SQL query dynamically at Database Adapter to fetch the records from DB.
    it goes like this....
    1. Sieble Search Spec: city1 OR city2 OR city3 OR city4 .....
I need to build query as
select * from S_ADDR_PER where city like 'city1' OR city like 'city2' OR city like 'city3' OR city like 'city4' ......
    2. Siebel Search spec: city1 AND country1 AND state1....
I need to build query as
Select * from S_ADDR_PER where city like 'city1' AND country like 'country1' AND state like 'state1' ....
    3. Siebel Search spec: state
I need to build query as
    select * from S_ADDR_PER where state like '%state%';
Is it feasible in Database Adapter? if its Yes.
    Any guidelines to achieve this?
    Thank you

    Hi,
Tried that too. No luck. Gives me this.

  • Problem with database adapter on plsql procedure with in/out parameters

running BPEL 10.1.3.1 and using the database adapter on a plsql procedure with in/out parameters I get errors
    the plsql procedure:
    create or replace procedure proc_with_clob_inout_parameter(

    is

    p_clob := p_string;
    end proc_with_clob_inout_parameter;
In BPEL I call this procedure. When I only assign a value to the p_string parameters (in a BPEL assign) all is well. When I also assign a value to the p_clob parameter the error occurs:

In BPEL 10.1.2.0 this isn't a problem. I tested it against a 10.2.0.1 and a 10.2.0.2 database and in both situations I get the error with BPEL 10.1.3.1 and no error with BPEL 10.1.2.0
it appears to be a problem in the database adapter...
anyone with the same problems and/or a solution?

Not of any use to you, but we had exactly the same problem on Friday when we applied AS 10.1.2.2 Patchset on top of BPEL 10.1.2.0.2.
The clob in our pl/sql proc wan't declared as in/out but for some reasons JDeveloper had created a clob on the Output Parameter type in the db partner link xsd. I removed this and it worked. This code had been untouched , and working fine, for months.
I'll be raising an SR today.
