I am currently working on BW 3.5. I want to delete a request from Infocube 0FIGL_C10. The request was in green status, which i manually turned to red and then tried deleting the request.But the Deletion job is getting failed in SM37 with following job log:

Hi Amit,
I think deletion job is active better. kill the active job from sm55 and try to delete the request again. if you face the same issue then delete the content from the cube it will delete all the request.

I'm just guessing, since I havent done Java for a long time... but if you want an empty row... what pops up in my mind first is like putting in an empty JLabel/Label... for that row... but then if you wanna fill it in... i dunno...

Numbers sort feature leaves 10-20 rows unsorted

I am new to Numbers and having trouble with the sort feature. I have approximately 150 rows I need to sort by descending number in column B. When I choose sort descending from column B, only rows 20+ sort properly. The first several rows (sometimes 10, sometimes more) are repositioned, but are not sorted in descending order.
It appears to be a random number of unsorted rows each time. These rows are not being counted as header/footer rows. What am I doing wrong?

Is it possible that some of these cells are formatted as text and others as numbers?
The table above has the cells formatted as text and sorted descending. It is correctly sorted in descending order based on first character: 9,7,7,6,1,1 and then the second character, etc.. A mix of numbers and text would look all messed up with the topmost cells being numbers sorted numerically and the bottommost cells sorted as text.
I am not sure this explains your problem. The sort you are showing doesn't seem to fit the pattern unless some of the text "numbers" have leading spaces or something.

usually the number of records is not an issue ... we have successfully condensed requests with 40 to 50 million records.....
What you need to make sure is :
1. Make sure that archive logs are not full
2. Make sure that PSAPUNDO table space has space for your request...
3. No loads happen to the cube / attribute change tuns are not happening....
THings that might be more useful are :
1. Time log for the job in SM37
2. Version and SP for your BI system.

Error while Data Store Object activation

    I'm new to BI 7.......
    I'm trying to load data to Data Store Object from PSA through DTP and it was successful upto newdata table. But while activating the request to active table the total status of the request turned as red and in DETAILS all the messages were in green.
    Kindly let me know what could be the problem.

Issue with Compression of Cube 0IC_C03

Dear Mates,
Before initiating this Thread, i tried to search on SDN but couldnot get something that will work in my case.
Issue: Compression scheduled in Process Chain starts, runs for a long time and then gets cancelled,as i can see in Process (right Click) >> Display messages.
Compression was running fine since last one year. It started with the above mentioned behavior since Nov 2010.
One Area which i feel fishy, is in November we had a Database movement to DB2. But i really couldnot relate the Issue with compression to Change in Database.
We are currently working on SAP BW 3.5
Please share your Comments/ Suggestion. Below is the Log observed after Compression cancelled.

I handled inventory scenarios, actually total stock qty is non *** Key figure with cumulative key figures of Issue qty and receipt qty, receipt - issues gives you the the total stock qty, and in inventory cube you can capture daily movments as well as monthly since you do have the calmonth as Time char in the dimensions.

Compression failed - Inventory Cube - 2LIS_03_BX

HI Experts,
the compression of the initial request from datasource 2LIS_03_BX failed. The compression will be done with "no marker update".
On the development system it works fine, but on the test system the compression failed. The time dimension is with 0FISCPER and 0FISCYEAR.
All checks with RSDV are successfull.

When I substitue it with 0CALMONTH and so on it works!

Delete of Requests in PC takes a long time

I have a process chain where the old request is being deleted out of the cube after the new request has been loaded. The requests are full loads from CCA.
Sometimes (not all the time), the delete step just sits there and hangs for hours on end. There is no I/O activity and very little CPU time being consumed via SM51. We see no locks in SM12. The last message in the job log that we see is "Leave RSM1_CHECK_DM_GOT_REQUEST in row 70; REQ_State " (whatever that is supposed to mean). CPU and Database utilization is very low. If I were to cancel the job and restart it, it runs to completion successfully fairly quickly.
We are on BW 3.5
Any suggestions would be welcome

Hi Wardell,
I guess too many process are ruuning when the deletion job is trigerred. Just check this: When the process chain moves to the deletion step check how many jobs/processes are active in sm37 and sm50. May be you can have a wait time for the deletion step and trigger it later.

Frequent failures of BI_REQD* jobs

nowadays BI_REQD* jobs are failing frequently for d one or two cubes. 20-30 jobs failing every day (those two cubes are loaded with many infopackages)

Hi,
I suspect that you have defined the ODS also as export datasource and you have deleted the related PSA (i.e. the change log of the ODS) so is not possible to delete a single request.
If the change log is empty you cannot delete a single request.
If you need to delete some data, you must take other ways like selective deletion or upload of data with negative image, but these methods doesn't give you any assurance to delete the same data of the request
If that is not true I think the problem is about the programs, check for OSS Notes.

Not able to delete Cube & DSO data

I am trying to delete data request from upper & lower Data providers(cube & DSO respectivly).
Frst I tried to delete cube data using context menu option DeleteData.It generates dump "Time Exceeded". So I manually selected the request in cube manage & deleted.
Later when i try deleting DSO(that updates abv cube) data with context menu option gv similar dump so i manually tried deleting topmost req & it fails with following log.

Compression Jobs are failing

I am facing issue in compression job, below is the whole scenario.
As a part of enhancement, we changed the cube design and promoted the changes.
After data has beed loaded, some of the compression jobs are running fine and some are failing consecutively.

does cancelling the long running compression job at first place is a reason - compression jobs are not at all progressing now?

Hi,
Trying checking the job in SM50 with the PID, and check with basis team why the job is getting stuck you would likly be able to identify tables whcih are taking longer time.
also try compressing request one at a time and check, might be because of huge number of records.

The issue still seems to be the same and your compression is affected by the tablespace.

all that happens during a compression is a table merge operation and during this the UNDO tablespace is used and after the compression is complete the tablespace is released.
Not sure what might be using your undo tablespaces - check the size of your fact tables and then set the undo tablespace to the same and then try. If the tablespace issue still persists I think you might need to raise an OSS.

Marker update

I have inventory cube and i am compressing the cube with Marker updates.
I want to know, which request is compressed with marker update and which is not compressed with marker update. is it possible?

Can not Delete request

Hi all,
Recently we have upgraded our BWQ sys from 3.3 to 3.5. i am trying to delete request from the ODS object but it did not get deleted.
In the logs it shows the Message below.

2. In an ODS object, you cannot delete one or several requests.
In the monitor, the system issues error message RSMPC 141.
This error can occur only in database systems that support range partitioning. Currently, these are Oracle and DB2/390.

This problem is caused by a program error.
As a side effect of having implemented Notes 738245/760502, data may be lost in the PSA/CHANGELOG. This loss of data is triggered by the changed RSTMPL81 template, which was introduced with Note 837275. The error occurs if you then delete data from partitioned PSA tables (for example, old requests from the ODS change log). When you do this, data from new requests may also be lost as the error causes the system to write the data to the wrong partition without any checks.
All data that is written to the incorrect partition (partition 0) is deleted during a deletion run on the PSA/CHANGELOG.
The loss of data is triggered when you start the deletion.
