Left margin for ALV print

Hi all!
How can we set left margin for ALV printouts through programming so that this'll be applied for this particular report only.

This is most likely some sort of error in your settings if printing to both PDF and to paper yield the same results. Can you post a link to a screen capture of the document, the PDF, and a scan of a printed page? Also give a detailed description of the various print dialog pages.
One thing that comes to mind, but most likely isn't correct because I don't think it would affect the PDF, is that you are printing in rotated landscape mode, with a bleed or crop marks enabled, and page positioning is set to upper left.

  • Left Margin for SAP Printer

    Hi all,
    one of our printer is printing with left margin 45mm. how can i reduce this margin to 15mm.
    i tried to put negative value in "Horizontal move" under output attributes in SPAD, but seems it does not work.
    please provide me the solution as it is very very urgent
    thanks in advance.

    lol thank you....but not helpful. I have one. All it says is first line should be flush with left margin and subsequent lines are indented. Already knew that. And with any other system other than MAC I could just click a box that says hanging line but since I have to input the amount myself in this pages system it makes it more difficult.

    The HUD Inspector in Full Screen View seems to position at the right margin of the image as a default(?)  If I toggle the button in the top right of the HUD it 'unlocks' and I can drag it to where I prefer -- at the left margin; (for over a decade) my dock has resided at the right margin so all my slider manipulation over countless editing sessions in Aperture has been ingrained to work at the left margin -- but, the vast majority of the time, the HUD overlaps the image I am editing in this 'unlocked' mode.
    Every occasionally I enter Full Screen View and it positions on the left margin *without* superimposition...(!) My great joy is modulated into aggravation, however, should my tracking cursor drift all the way 'out of bounds' -- to call in the hidden pane of adjacent images sequenced in the library... This dramatically shrinks the Full Screen display and re-locks the HUD; if I toggle the switch to re-xpand the image it re-positions at the right margin!!!!  I SOOoooooo wish I knew how to control the default 'locked' margin of the HUD in Full Screen View...

    Drag it over to the Left. Then lock it there.

  • How to find out minimum margins for a printer?

    Using J2SE 1.4 on Windows XP.
    I want to find out the minimum margins for a printer. If I do this:
    PrintService ps = ...;
    PrinterJob job = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob ();
    job.setPrintService (ps);
    PageFormat pf = job.defaultPage ();
    ...then pf.getImageableX() and pf.getImageableY() return 72.0 for every printer I've tried!
    On Windows, what I want is GetDeviceCaps (hDC, PHYSICALOFFSETX)
    Can I get this data in Java?
    Thanks
    - rick

    Just for reference, I believe I've found out how to do this. Not very intuitive, and I hope Sun will consider improving this next time 'round!
    To determine the minimum margins on a printer, create a PrinterJob & set it to refer to the PrintService for the printer. Then execute some code like this:
              PageFormat pf = job.defaultPage();
              Paper paper = pf.getPaper();
              paper.setImageableArea(0, 0, paper.getWidth(), paper.getHeight());
              pf = job.validatePage(pf);
    The Paper in the PageFormat now represents the maximum imageable area on the printer.
    Even if Sun fixes defaultPage so that it returns a PageFormat in this state, this code will still work.
    Cheers

  • Word to PDF conversion does not retain left margin (for thesis submission to a university)

    Hi everyone,
    I've searched through the more recent margin issues posts and haven't found anything that exactly matches my problem.  I'm currently trying to convert my thesis from Word to a PDF (I'm using Word 2003 in Windows XP and Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional) as required by my university and the left side margin is changed from 1.5 inches to 1.25 inches during the conversion process.  Since this is for submission to a university, the margin has to be exactly 1.5 inches.  I've already tried to change the paper and page layout settings in case was an issue related to scaling (if only at this point) and I've reconverted the file in case it was a fluke (obviously it wasn't since I found my way here).  I also tried to just shift the margin in Word over an additional 0.25 inches to see if that would put it at 1.5 instead of 1.25 in Acrobat, but somehow it was still at 1.25.  It doesn't seem to matter what the margin is set at in Word, it ends up at 1.25 in Acrobat.
    I would very much appreciate any input- it would be nice if now that I've finished all the work on my thesis I could actually get it submitted properly so that I can get my diploma!

    What method are you using to generate your PDF from Word?  What version of Word are you using?  (edit:  sorry, I see now you mentioned Word 2003)
    Are you using the Word's PDF convert-to icon or are you using Print>Adobe PDF ?

  • Method for ALV printing

    Hi,
    How can I print an ALV programmatically like the 'Print' toolbar button does? I couldn't find such a method in class CL_GUI_ALV_GRID.
    (I want to print the ALV as if the user had clicked the 'Print' toolbar button.)
    Thanks in advance
    Roland

    Hi,
    Handle printing adjustments is done  via a structure to be passed to the parameter “is_print” of the method “set_table_for_first_display”.
    The print output of the field “PRNTLSTINF” is not visible in the print preview of the ALV Grid. If you create a spool request first, you can check the final list layout in transaction SP01.

  • Safari won't use custom page margins for printing

    I'm using Safari 4.04 on Snow Leopard. Here's the problem in a nutshell: I'd like to print pages that I can put in a three-hole-punch binder, without the holes going through printed content. In other words, I simply want to set a custom left margin for printing. Should be simple, right? Apparently, not if you use Safari.
    OK, as far as I can tell, here's how it's supposed to work (and this is how it works for me in every browser except Safari):
    In the "Print" dialog box, click the "Paper Size" drop-down menu (which defaults to "US Letter"), and scroll down to "Manage Custom Sizes…". Create a custom paper size with the desired margins. Now you should be able to select this custom paper size when you print.
    This works fine in other browsers (of course you may need to select the custom size from the "Page Setup" menu, but in Safari 4 this is apparently integrated into the "Print" dialog). In Safari, however, the custom margins are completely ignored. A simple, but frustrating, bug …
    This has been a known bug, as I've seen it mentioned in other forums, such as:
    http://forums.macworld.com/index.php?/topic/117342-safari-4-0-3-printing/
    But Apple has yet to fix it.
    OK, for those who are wondering, there are two workarounds I know of, neither of which is totally satisfying:
    1) When setting the custom paper size, define the paper itself as narrower than 8.5 inches; for example set it to 7.5. Safari doesn't ignore the actual paper size, it just ignores the margins you set. But unfortunately this will result in an increase in both left and right margins, not just the left margin.
    2) As I teach Web design, this is the kludge I figured out on my own: Set a user-defined style sheet for Safari. First, create a plain text document consisting of this:
    html {
    margin-left: .5in;
    (Of course, set the margin to your desired width. I'm using a half inch here.) Save this style sheet, calling it something like "safaristyle.css". Now, in Safari's "Advanced"preferences, set this as your custom style sheet. This works great, but unfortunately if you leave Safari on this setting this will result in an increase in the left margin when you view Web pages as well as when you print them. So you can select the custom style sheet only just before printing, and then set it back to "None Selected" when you're not printing.
    Am I the only one who finds it odd that Apple still hasn't fixed this little bug?
    Does anyone out there know of a better workaround? Thanks for listening.

    Set them automatically based on what criteria?
    If you just want to set them programatically, then as the Help indicates, use the Printing:Margins property to set those values.

    How can I print with a wider left margin in Preview? (OSX 10.5)
    To punch Binder Holes.
    Should be easy ... Make a Custom page with a wider left margin ... easy to set up, but it does not actually work for any printer I am connected to.
    Info so far:
    Found an older post from 2002 ... "Make a custom page"
    Mac Help has a limited, simple, incomplete answer: "Make a custom page"
    Tried three printers. One Postscript Level 3 One Level 2 and one non postscript
    Switching between page types in the drop down shows a change in the print preview, and the floating information shows the correct page size and larger left margin... but the "Custom Page Size" does not show a larger left margin, in the preview, no mater how it is set.
    There also appear to be a relation ship between the radio Buttons for scale and the margin settings.
    Test prints have simply cut off the left side of the document, and scaled the document from the right side in and the top down.

    Thanks ... tried the Paper Handling, but no lock.
    Based on the fact that any scaling, "moves" the image down and to the left on the paper ...
    Th only "work around" solution is to ...
    Rotate the PDF page 180, then scale slightly (90% or so ...)
    This pushes the upside down page, down and to the left.
    While this is the opposite of what is desired, the print is then correct when
    it is punched and placed into a three ring binder.
    Assumption is the application that creates the documnt, needs to have the paper margins set. The reality is, an application like Preview, that does not "create anything", needs to handle existing documents PDF, JPEG and print to Custom Page configurations.
    ie: In Preview, Custom Page does not work correctly,

  • HP officejet Pro 8600 - Left margin on printer has shifted

    The left margin on my Officejet pro 8600 printer has shift approx 1".
    This is issue is not coming fro the computer it is in the printer.
    It happens when I copy or produce a test page from the printer control panel.
    Paper is set up properly in the paper cartridge (8.5" x 11" paper).

    There is a piece of paper stuck in the printer which is stopping the full motion of the print head.  Move the head/ink all the way to one side and you'll see the paper stuck in there.  Just fixed this for my wife's answer.

I have tried different inside and outside margins, the same inside and outside margins, facing pages, changing the master, and I cannot get the margins to alternate at print time. The larger margin is always on the left. Can anyone please help me on this, as I have spent hours and lots of ink.

    Set up as facing pages with a larger inside margin.

  • Prints with a 3 inch left margin 2hich losses imprtant data

    when printing data tables on line 5 columns wide, the left margin is about 3 inches wide which removes the fifth column on the right. (The Firefox printer page setup table is set to 1/4 " n the right and left sides.)

    Try the '''''reset''''' described here and make sure you reset all the prefs for that printer: <br />
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problems_printing_web_pages#Reset_printer <br />
    When you are done with all the resets, restart Firefox and see if that fixed your problem.
    When you get to the prefs for the right and left margins, you'll probably see some very long Value strings that are far greater than 1/4".

    Hello,
    There were some printer margin issues early on in the 6.0 and 6i releases. Try upgrading to the latest Reports 6i patch (version 6.0.8.15) and see if the problem disappears.

  • Setting a global margin for any documents to print

    Hello,
    On a Mac running OS X, I have a ruby/java script allowing me to open a Microsoft Word document and print it as a PDF (and extra stuffs, but that's not part of the problem). During the conversion from Word to PDF for most of my documents I get a dialog saying 'A footer of section X is outside of the printable area of the page...'. What I would like to do is not to write a script to click 'yes' when a dialog open but to try to set the default margin for printing to 0. In the 'page setup', there is an option to create customized 'paper size', with a giving width, height and margins (that I can set to 0). By default the paper size is selecting A4, but I would like to find a way to set this paper size as a default to my customized paper size for any document opened on Microsoft Word or printed as PDF!  If I select manually the customized paper size after I open the document on Word, I can print it without having the dialog.
    So my question is to know if there is a way to set a global margin for printing to 0 (let me know if I need to use Acrobat Pro, Distiller etc.), whatever the way is.
    Thank you very much!
    Vincent

    Alan,
    There is nothing specific with the SDK that you have to print a marketing document such as a Sales Order, PO, etc.  What you may want to look at in the 2005A SDK is the "PrintEvent" object.  This event lets you catch a print event in the SAP Business One application, get the relevant data that is sent to the printer and then edit it using a third-party editing tool such as Crystal Reports. The PrintEvent event provides an exit point that allows you to integrate third-party tools for reporting and document editing.
    You can look at the sample code for the PrintEvent here ...
    ..\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One SDK\Samples\COM UI\VB.NET\20.PrintEvent
