LibMagickCore-Q16.so.7 - Trying to understand what happened

Hi,
I'm relatively new to arch and I'm no experienced C compiler, but anyway I want to understand how my linux distro works under the hood and what went wrong, when I simply typed 'pacman -Syu'. Perhaps someone can help me The situation is as follows:
I was playing aroud with the upcoming release of rails, building an app, that uses the 'rmagick' gem (freakin cool ruby way to say 'package'; in case you don't know). But upgrading my arch as usual, for a few days now my rails server doesn't start anymore, instead saying:
/home/jan/.rbenv/versions/2.0.0-p0/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/activesupport-4.0.0.beta1/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:228:in `require': libMagickCore-Q16.so.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory - /home/jan/.rbenv/versions/2.0.0-p0/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/rmagick-2.13.2/lib/RMagick2.so (LoadError)
But:
$ ls -l /home/jan/.rbenv/versions/2.0.0-p0/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/rmagick-2.13.2/lib/RMagick2.so
-rwxr-xr-x 1 jan users 528487 Mar 9 04:22 /home/jan/.rbenv/versions/2.0.0-p0/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/rmagick-2.13.2/lib/RMagick2.so
So this file seems to exist at all.
And a quick search on my file system yields
$ sudo find / -iname "*libmagickcore*"
/usr/lib/libMagickCore-6.Q16.so.1.0.0
/usr/lib/libMagickCore-6.Q16.so.1
/usr/lib/libMagickCore-6.Q16.so
So (for me) it seems, that there is a naming problem with this so called .so file (compare to the " libMagickCore-Q16.so.7" part in the error above). I read in another forum concerning a similiar problem to do some magic with 'ldconfig' and I tried this, but this didn't help, too. I also read some stuff about symlinking files. But I don't want to do this since I don't know, what I'm doing with that. I'd rather like to understand what's going wrong here. Can someone help? Or can I provide further information that's helpful?
Thanks
Jan

the error message means that /home/jan/.rbenv/versions/2.0.0-p0/lib/ruby/gems/2.0.0/gems/rmagick-2.13.2/lib/RMagick2.so NEEDS libMagickCore-Q16.so.7 , and that is the file that doesn't exist.
the libMagickCore-6.* files belong to the imagemagick program.
A search for libMagickCore-Q16.so.7 shows that imagemagick changed the library naming , starting with version 6.8.0-8
These links will give more info :
http://www.cmake.org/Bug/view.php?id=13859
http://www.imagemagick.org/discourse-se … =3&t=22352
you can try building rails against the new version, but if ruby is build through CMake that won't work unless you use  a git version or CMake 2.8.11 is released.
A temp workaround would be to revert to the last version of imagemagick before the change was made.
Look at the changes for arch imagemagick to figure out which version that would be.
(pacman log can also help with this).

  • Trying to understand what are the parameter/output From debug SNMP timers

    Hi All
I am trying to understand what are the parameter/output
    From the debug SNMP timers
    Output SNMP timers :
*Dec 31 11:56:27: SNMP: HC Timer 632DDE28 fired
    *Dec 31 11:56:27: SNMP: HC Timer 632DDE28 rearmed, delay = 5000
*Dec 31 11:56:32: SNMP: HC Timer 632DDE28 fired
    *Dec 31 11:56:32: SNMP: HC Timer 632DDE28 rearmed, delay = 5000
*Dec 31 11:56:37: SNMP: HC Timer 632DDE28 fired
    *Dec 31 11:56:37: SNMP: HC Timer 632DDE28 rearmed, delay = 5000
*Dec 31 11:56:38: SNMP: HC Timer 70B54A70 fired
    *Dec 31 11:56:38: SNMP: HC Timer 70B54A70 rearmed, delay = 20000
    70B54A70 , 632DDE28 „² what this number means.
5000 , 20000 „² why I have different delay time ( does it means that I have delay for SNMP request )

The debug messages you are seeing are related to High-Capacity (HC) timers, which manage updates to 64-bit (HC) snmp counters as defined in RFC2233.
The "fired" and "rearmed" messages indicate when each of these timers
updates ("fired") the HC snmp counters, and when they should fire next
(the "rearmed" messages). Higher speed interfaces require updates more often than lower speed interfaces, so you see two examples of that in your debug messages - 5000 ms updates vs 20000 ms update.
The numbers that are in the messages (i.e. 632DDE28 ) are internal references to the timer that has fired.
These messages do not indicate any delay in SNMP message processing, but normal SNMP operation of HC counters.

  • Trying to understand what's going on with my line!

I wonder if someone could help me understand what's happening to my connection.
I've been on adsl2+ for over a month (since being on a very stable adslmax connection). I'm on a long line 62db atten' and connected at 2890 - same as adslmax which I expected.
A week ago my connection was reset ( I was unaware) and now connect at 2271 - noise margin is now 13db - always had a stable 6db with no drops.
The thing I don't get is every time I reboot my router constantly syncs at 2271. Why would it do this? Previously it sync'd at different speeds.
It's as if I'm now on a fixed rate - but still shows as adsl2+.
Spoke to bt but they say I have noise on my line and it's in 'acceptable levels' - which it isn't!
Just want to understand what's going on!
    Thanks

since the recent software/hardware updates at certain telephone exchanges, when you reboot the router or turn it off constantly, the exchange you are connected to sees it as a fault, and drops your connection to the lowest level possible. your connection then has to physically be  reset by an engineer at the exchange.
this is what hapenned top me. for the last 8 years i have been on bt, always turning my router off at night, when i had finished, or rebooting it if i had a poor line. since june, my connection speed have been abismal, i stopped at 2420 for about a month (half of that the month before) then over a weel, it dropped to as low as 340kbps - on a 20 meg line.  after going through the help desk, and "you need a new bt homehub router" event though i did not use theirs, phase, and 2 months of stress, i had an engineer come out on Saturday.
He tested everything (my line is capable of 18.3mb connections). my line was reset ay 8124kbps downstream... 27 hours later, it is on 572kbps, so needs to settle in..allegedly
to get over this, i am using a BTfon zone connection off one of my neighbours, as it is faster...technology - if you are on option 3, then sign up for it now, as things may get worse.
welcome to the world of last wednesday week.
there's now't wrong with 2 cans and a piece of string. at certain times, it is often faster.

  • Location of profile -- need to understand what happened here

I just resolved a data recovery crisis with my bookmarks. Although the crisis is over, I don't understand an important aspect of what happened, and I need to resolve this to be entirely confident of my data's safety.
Last week my computer contracted a virus. My attempts to remove it have been unsuccessful so far, so I fell back to an alternate version of Windows XP that I keep on my computer for that purpose. I have a separate data disk and configure all of my applications to store their data there, so this should be a nearly complete workaround -- all I lack is new software that I've installed since I created the backup partition.
As I checked out the system after booting, I looked at my Firefox bookmark file and was flabbergasted to find that its time stamp was over three years old.
I did some research and discovered that when Firefox went to version 3 it replaced the bookmark file with a database stored in a "profile" in the Application Data directory. I wasn't aware of that, so I never reconfigured Firefox to move the profile to my data disk.
This looked very, very bad. It looked like I'd said goodbye to all the bookmarks I've collected since I created the backup system until I got my infected system working again.
To make the best of it, I deleted the useless bookmark file and moved the Firefox profile from my system disk to my data disk, where it should have been all along.
Then I started Firefox (this system is running version 4) and found that all of my bookmarks were there, right up to the one that I added yesterday with instructions for removing the particular virus I'm dealing with.
    How did it do that?
I first thought there must be another profile on the data disk, but I searched the whole disk for one of the file names in the profile, and found only the one I had just created. Later I realized that even if there were another profile, that wouldn't explain what had happened. Firefox is now using the one that I just created -- I checked the timestamps to confirm that they were being updated -- and I copied it from a system drive in a partition that hasn't been used for months. I'm delighted to have all of my bookmarks, but they seem to arrived where I need them by magic. What could have happened here?

auscompgeek, I appreciate your effort to help. Either your response doesn't address the question, or I don't understand it.
Here's how it looks to me: places.sqlite is part of the profile, i.e., it is one of the files in the directory that contains the profile. I've explained what happened to that directory. The fact that the bookmarks are stored in this particular file is true, but doesn't explain anything.
I searched my data disk for this file on the chance that there was a stray copy of it somewhere, not in a complete profile directory that contained the file I originally searched for. I found it only in the new profile that I created after discovering the problem.
So this issue still appears to be unresolved.

  • ICloud family email account? Don't understand what happens to the other email addresses.

After updating my devices to ios5 I was going to move to iCloud. Got message that not all email accounts would forward (I have family plan with multiple email accounts), and I don't really understand what I need to do to get everything moved to iCloud.

You can move the master and sub accounts on a Mobileme Family Plan individually to iCloud: each account needs to move separately, going to http://me.com/move and will become an individual and separate iCloud account. This can be done in any order, but obviously if you move the master account first you can no longer use it to administer the sub-accounts; and if you move a sub-account first you can't create a new sub-account to replace it.
The master account will get the free extension to 20GB until 30 June 2012; the sub-accounts won't.

  • Trying to understand what "push" means

I love my 3g iPhone. I have mobileme too and an iMac and Macbook Air (all mac-ed out).
Here is my problem or at least what I'm not understanding.
When I change add an appointment on my calendar (or add a contact) to the iMac, it adds it to my iPhone (lol, somehow, without the iPhone being hooked up to the computer). However when I add or change an appointment on the iPhone it does not change it on the computer calendar.
How to I fix it so that regardless of where I change appointments its pushed to my iMac and me.com? Or is that not how push works?
    Susan

Real push (instant) works only between the MobileMe cloud and the iPhone. Between the MobileMe cloud and a Mac it's just a normal sync, which does (when set to automatic) occur every 15 minutes on 10.5 (every hour on 10.4).
If your appointments made on the phone do not appear on your Mac, first check if they got pushed to the cloud (login to me.com and check online in your browser). If the appointment is visible on me.com, start a sync on your Mac. The appointment should now be there, too.

  • Trying to understand what to report

Let at least one balance report and you'll be doing fine. Even if you muck that up it can be fixed by letting a balance report.

Im trying to pay down all my debt. I started at 606 and im currently around 660 on my scores. My utilization is at 33% overall without my Cap1 cards reporting 0 . They will report on the 4 and 6 of next month. This is usually done best by not adding new charges to the cards you are not able to pay in full, it makes it easier to get in front of the interest cost. Now that the CapOne cards are at zero, and you still need to buy groceries and gas, I'd use CapOne cards for those basic spend items and PIF. Since they have been reporting balances, it should be fine to continue letting them report these small amounts. Your scores will continue to climb with added months of no more negatives, as whatever negatives you have continue to fade into the past.

  • Panic(cpu 13 caller Crash. Trying to understand what is causing?

    Ok,
so I have a Mac Pro 8 Core Mid 2010 running 32GB. For some time now I have been having crashes when I run Adobe Media Compressor. This only happens when I run a very heavy load. I have removed my ram and reseated, cleaned out the motherboard. I have also removed a GTX250 video card and I though the issue had went away but it came back. I have also reinstalled my software from scratch and buildt a new array with new HDD. I am guessing either a bad memory stick? or Processor? Or I am just stressing the system too much by renderring large files?
So here is the crash report I get.
    Any ideas?

  • Trying to add FK_constraints but could not understand what happened?

    sg 547, Level 16, State 0, Line 1

ALTER TABLE [PartyAddress] ADD CONSTRAINT [FK_PartyAddress_Address] FOREIGN KEY(AddressID)REFERENCES [Address](AddressID)----N
    Msg 547, Level 16, State 0, Line 1
The ALTER TABLE statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_PartyAddress_Address". The conflict occurred in database "test1MDM", table "dbo.Address", column 'AddressID'.
ALTER TABLE [PartySport] ADD CONSTRAINT [FK_PartySport_Leagues] FOREIGN KEY(LeagueID)REFERENCES [Leagues](LeagueID)----N
    Msg 547, Level 16, State 0, Line 1
The ALTER TABLE statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_PartySport_Leagues". The conflict occurred in database "test1MDM", table "dbo.Leagues", column 'LeagueID'.

Well, the error is actually clear. It means that PartyAddressHistory table has values in the AddressID column which are not in the Address table.
You have the same problem in the PartyAddress table and PartySport has a similar problem.
    To find bad rows try
select * from PartyAddress PA where not exists (select 1 from Address A where A.AddressID = PA.AddressID) -- similar statements for other tables.

  • Executing Sql -  whats happening on the server

Hi, I am using Oracle 8.17 on a AIX box.
When i run queries that have to do full table scans of a large table it virtually cripples my system. (nmon shows lots of disk activity / paging) .
    Even when running
    Select count(col1) from large_tab;
Im trying to understand whats happening behind the scenes here. Why is there lots of paging. what is oracle doing?
Our database is set to rule based optimiser as the vendor providing the software does not allow for use of cost base optimizer / or compute statistics. :-0 :-(
Why would this be do you think?
thanks for any advice you could provide me.

have you set minperc & maxperc aix parameter ?No , please can you let me know what these are for? I
cant seem to find much on the web relating to them?sorry :
    minfree / maxfree
you can monitor this param with vmtune
minperm maxperm minpgahead maxpgahead minfree maxfree pd_npages maxrandwrt
    157079 628316 2 8 120 128 524288 0
One simple basic setting for minfree and maxfree is to calculate a starting point as follows:
    " minfree = ( 120 * # of CPUs )
    " maxfree to ( ( maxpageahead * # of CPUs ) + minfree )
on metalink you read this values :)

  • Trying to understand HD speed ...

    Hi,
I am trying to understand what is the real life speed of a hard drive.  I understand that a specific hard drive is limited by it's own specifications (RPM and buffer), by the interface it connects with (SATA 1, 2 or 3), by the enclosure's interface (USB 2 or 3, etc ...), by the computer's interface (USB 2 or 3, etc ...) and also probably by the cable it connects with.
Sellers publications and specifications seems so complicated for the newbee.  How can even a diligent customer understand and find it's way in this sea of often contradicting informations ?
I bought a Samsung 1TB HN-M101MBB 2.5" drive.  You can read the specs here.  With the speed specifications in mind, what should be the real life speed I can max out from this wired drive if all connections, interfaces and cables are «the best in the west» ?
Media to Buffer is slow (18MBps) and Buffer to Host is 300MBps.  How can I estimate the maximum speed of this drive just by reading the specs ?  I know I can test the drive's speed with some software like Disk Speed Test and Aja, but since my own configuration is probably limiting the drives output,  I wanted to read what the forum's wisdom would estimate.
    Thanks in advance.

You won't really be able to figure out real transfer rates from mfgrs. specs. You need to look at sites that test drives like Tom's Hardware report or AnandTech. Google will be a major help.
The closest you can come to any speed estimation for an external is the speed of the port. If a Firewire port has a transfer rating of 800 Mb/s or 100 MB//s, then data goes no faster than that but more likely will be slower.

  • Trying to understand "User/Role/Profile Synchronization" and Batch Analysis

    Hello,
Im trying to understand what exactly and from which tables these jobs are copying to which tables in CC. I have a understanding that these jobs are moving also deleted roles from backend. This is causing unnecessary delay to long lasting job.
I would appreasite if some one could explain the logic behind these jobs. What the fullsync and incremental is reading ? What kind of changes are causing a role/user/profile  to be included to the full and incremental jobs?
How the incremental analysis logic is built ?
    br Janne

    Janne,
In my current implementation we are going for an offline risk analysis due to the heteregoneus system landscape of our client (several SAP and non SAP systems and several SAP systems under 4.6C). Eventhough within our approach we don't perfrom the backend synchronization (we use CC data extractor to pull data from backend into CC) hope the following info could hel you:
The tables such jobs you mention access to, are all the SAP backend system tables related with users, roles, profiles, action and permissions. If you check the data mapping appendix of the "user and configuration guide for 5.2" you will see all the data that CC retrieves. For instance, in order to extract user info (UserID, FName, LName, Email, Phone, Email, Department) tables USR21, USR02, ADRP, ADR6 and ADCP must be accessed.
    In terms of CC tables:
VIRSA_CC_SYSUSR >> UserIDs and Systems ID relationship
VIRSA_CC_GENOBJ >> User, Role and Profile master data
    VIRSA_CC_GENACT >> User-action, role-action and profile-action data
    VIRSA_CC_GENPRM >> User-permission, role-permission and profile-permission
    VIRSA_CC_SAPOBJ >> Action-permission
VIRSA_CC_OBJTEXT >> Objects descripcions (ACT, PRM, FLD, VAL, ORG)
    Hope this helps.
