Library indirect jump bug?

I wanted to get oratcl running and experienced "core dumps" all
the time. A bit of investigation indicated that the small code
snippets that essentially do jumps to the real code via
jumptables (in the client object libraries) will be relocated
with an incorrect offset into the jump tables (one off).
I patched the library binaries to handle this, and now it works
very well.
If this is a problem for other people, I do think that the Oracle
maintainers will easily find and fix the problem, based on this
info.
I am deliberately a bit unspecific about the details of my fixes,
in this mail, since the code is Oracle's, so I will not send
copies of my patched libraries to anyone, i.e: please don't ask
(unless you are Oracle Inc, of course...)

Sorry for following up on myself, but I just saw that there
already is a patch available (patch-2).
My only excuse is that I was in China when I discovered (and
fixed) the bug. Since I had some trouble connecting to Internet
from P.R.C. I missed the patch, and was too overcome by jet lag
to search carefully enough on this site, now that I'm back in
Sweden...

Metadata Navigation and Library Column Filter Bug

To whom it may concern,
When document library metadata navigation is enabled and a user clicks an item in the metadata navigation part, the library updates to reflect the selected filter. Subsequent filtering actions performed on columns in the library do not filter the list

My reason for re-posting this is 2 fold.
1. The answer to the thread above is not an answer, it is a work around.
2. Presenting the option for a user to continue filtering a view, but having that option do nothing is a bug. The option should be hidden, or it should perform the expect action.
Please either inform me of an expected timeframe for resolution, or point me to an exacting set of steps to take in order to escalate this issue to someone who will take action to fix it.

According to your description, my understanding is that column filtering cannot work after filtering on the managed navigation in SharePoint.
I tested the same scenario per your post in my environment, and I got the same results as you got.
We will help to submit the issue to proper pipeline for you.

Random iTunes library problem or bug with duplicates

iTunes (Mac) spontaneously creates duplicate songs and does some unusual things in the process. The duplicate songs only appear in my library, the music media remains intact most of the time. Sometimes iTunes moves one or two songs from the same recording to a separate folder and puts in outside the iTunes Media folder.
The duplicate songs that appear in the library appear randomly. Sometimes both dup songs play fine, even though there is only one source file for the song. Sometimes only one plays, so I have to delete the one with the exclamation mark. Often one of the 2 dup songs has the wrong artwork. This wouldn't be a big issue if I didn't have such a large volume of music and this wasn't happening to hundreds and hundreds of songs, which need to be dealt with manually one at a time.
I have several music folders (CD , Downloads) inside the Master iTunes Media folder on the ext HD
In iTunes Perfs I have enabled "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" and "Copy files to iTunes Media folder." This setup worked fine in the past, before 2010.
I've repaired permissions regularly and have repaired the Boot HD.
I first starting noticing this problem at some point in 2010 while using iTunes 9. Upgrading to iTunes 10 has not helped.
Any ideas on what's going on or what I might try to fix the problem?
Is this a bug in iTunes?
If I re-installed iTunes and could return to an earlier version which one should I use ?
Specs. iTunes 10.3.1 with 350 GB of music on an external HD

I need some clarification on your instructions. Once I have Exported my Library to the desktop and moved my iTunes folder to the desktop I can't proceed as you suggest.
When I open iTunes it opens the original library full of all my music. If I launch iTunes (while holding down C key) I can create a new empty iTunes Library inside the Music folder.
If I try to import (open) the original Library.xml file on the desktop nothing happens. If your saying I need to import all the music in my iTunes folder (inside the Music folder) I can't do that since all my music is on an external HD.
Are you saying I need to reimport the entire contents (all the music) in my iTunes Media folder?
I thought your solution was aiming to simply rebuild the directory structure while leaving the original music media alone.

Lightroom 6 photo jumping bug

So I'm trying LR6 and I have this really strange and quite annoying bug. Whenever I make some action in Development module. A previous photo momentarily shows up, then screen jumps back to proper. See the video... any clues as to what this may be???

Common Library HTML Combobox Bug in FW CS6

If you drag a Combobox from the Document Library > HTML folder onto your canvas and change the name of the 'Label' text from within Symbol Properties then the combobox artwork disappears! The label remains visible but the graphic symbol has gone.
EDIT: Its suddenly started working properly. No idea why!

I have now also tried this using an Object tag in a HTML page to load the SWF and I don't have the same issue, the problem only appears to be there using SWFObject and also another JavaScript solution that I found. In your opinion where is the most likely place for the bug to be? It would seem to me that the FlashPlayer should be handling the result of FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication, but the method of adding the SWF to the HTML page seems to have an affect as well. Looking at the FlexGlobals and spark.Application code, there doesn't seem to be any ExternalInterface type calls.
I am asking as I am finding it difficult to work around the issues I am having, and it would be better to find a fix rather than a workaround.

Library image swapping bug.

I have been developing a flash demo of my companies product for the past few weeks. I upgraded recently to Adobe CS5 from MM Flash 8 so that I could recover some newer Flash components that were developed in a newer version. This all seemed to go with out any issue. However, once in CS5, I noticed twice that an images switched to another image in the library. So I had two copies of the image and one image that went missing. I solved this by just updating the image that was corrupted.
I was on a crunch for this project and was working 16hr days, so I just left my computer on over night with CS5 open. I published the presentation and sent it for approval. Once everything was approved closed CS5.
When I reopened it many, (around 30ish) of my images have been corrupted the same way. I went back to my previous backups and the last 8hrs worth also have the corruption.
My questions are:
Is this a known bug?
Is this something I can easily and permanently fix in this demo or as long as I use it will it keep on screwing up?
Is this issue only with images or is my action script also likely to be corrupted?

I also noticed that the images that didn’t get corrupted were the ones that were added after I last moved my FLA. I believe the reason for this, is that even though the images are stored in the FLA, it tries to update them from the last known update path. If it can not find the image there it substitutes the next image in flash folder structure that has an image located in the update path. If I had time to play with it I would temporarily replace all the images on the hard drive with one not used in my project to see if they get used as well as doing other things to prove my theory one way or the other.
I did test the theory with the first image I fixed, which reloaded correctly when I restarted Flash, but I have not looked at the project since I fixed the rest, so I hope I am right. By the sounds of what you are saying I am very worried.
Another thing I would like to test, would saving as CS4. Closing and opening then saving as CS5 solve the issues. One thing I don’t really know, what is lost when saving as CS4?
Thanks again for your help, if any further corruption occurs I will follow your advice. I will also let you know if I find any more stable way to work around this bug. Or if I find the exact cause.

Image Trace with Document Library palette feature - bug?

I've been trying out the different palette options in Image Trace and I believe I've come across a feature that does not work as the designers intended. In Adobe's documentation, there is very little said about the feature, which I believe is intended to allow you to substitute a custom palette for the palette that would be created by the original artwork that is being traced. It's under the Palette drop-down menu and is available if you've selected the Color Mode. It's called Document Library. In Adobe's documentation, there are these two paragraphs:

Specifies a palette for generating a color or grayscale tracing from the original image. (This option is available only when Mode is set to Color or Grayscale.)

This would be a great feature, if it worked! I have a lot of artwork to trace, it's all in a set yellow-to-green palette, and it would be a big time-saver if I didn't have to change the palette after the trace. Unfortunately, the feature doesn't work as promised. Either that, or I'm doing something wrong.
I've embedded a video to demonstrate the problem, and would appreciate any comments.

Since the original experiment, I have tinkered with it and discovered that the more colors I have in my palette, the better. I had three colors; it only used one of the three. With some settings changes I could get it to use two. With six colors, it used four. I was unable to get it to use all six.
I apologize for the poor quality of the original rendering of the video. I have since re-rendered it. Embedded below, but if you still cannot see what is going on, I recommend you click on the direct link and go to YouTube, where you will be able to either use the Large Player feature or make the video full-screen. Hopefully that will make it possible to see more detail.

Replace LabVIEW Library (lvlib) (poss. bug?)

I'm, trying to use lvlibs for shared code. Now i have some issues in version management.
This is what I face:
a library in a construction folder, which is copied (including sub-vi's) to a read-only version specific folder:
-CurrentVerions\workspace
                             -libraryproject.lvproj
                             -library.lvlib
                             \subvi's
This tree I copy to:
Version xx
so this is the end:
Version 2\workspace\
                             -libraryproject.lvproj
                             -library.lvlib
                             \subvi's
This directory I make read-only.
Now if I upgrade the library to version 3, I want to upgrade my calling projects as well. So I remove the lvlib reference in the calling project, and inserts the new version (since replace is not an option).
So far so good.
Now if I open A VI with some controls/vi's from the library this is the message I get:

So what happens, he sees there is a part from the library (lookup table.lvlib) with a control (defaults.ctl) which is updated, but what LV does is take the old version (1.3 over 1.4), in addition the control gets the message that he is binded with the new library (1.4 over 1.3).
So it looks like the control in the VI is path-bound and not namespace-bound.
Does anybody have a solution (not a version control package), or is this like it is supposed to be?
I can manually track down where the control should come from but what if I expand my libraries to 50 or more VI's/controls

Hi Ton,
This is because LabVIEW identifies each VI based on it's location and the Library (.lvlib) it is part of. (LabVIEW stores a relative path to the VI, the VI knows to which library it belongs). If LabVIEW can't find a VI at that location which is part of the correct Library it will search for it in it's search path. If it still can't find it, it will ask the user for help (Ignore / Browse / Cancel dialog). If you choose to browse and select another VI, All Intanceses of the original VI will be replaced by this VI. LabVIEW does not replace the other references to the Library because it could be that juist one VI was removed from the Library.
You can workaround this issue by using a intermediate library. So you have the following for two versions:
\Library\v1.0.0\driver v1.0.0.lvlib {and files}
\Library\v2.0.0\driver v2.0.0.lvlib {and files}
\Library\Current\driver.lvlib {and current files}
In all the Applications that use this 'driver' library you include the 'driver.lvlib'. If you want to build a new version of this driver you duplicate the v2.0.0 folder in a v3.0.0 folder and when this version is ready for release you copy the library from folder v3.0.0 into the Current renaming it from 'driver v3.0.0.lvlib' to 'driver.lvlib'. This can be done easily using 'Save As' on the Library file or using the 'Save a Copy' method with VI Server (See attached Example).
A down side to this is that all application will be using the new version. Instead of using a current folder you could choose to copy the version you would like to use with a application to the application folder tree and maintain a copy there. This way you can choose per application if and when you upgrade to a new version.
In the attached example
Look at / run the 'Application.vi'. this uses version 1.0.0 for the Driver.lvlib. (in this case the copy is maintained in the applications own folder tree).
Close this VI and it's project file if you opened it.
Open the Replace Library.vi
Select '..\Application\Driver\Driver.lvlib' as the Library to be replaced.
Select '..\Driver Versions\v2.0.0\Driver v2.0.0.lvlib' as the new version of this library.
Run the 'Replace Library.vi'
Look at / run the 'Application.vi' again.

Misunderstanding library or a bug in AP 3?

When I installed AP3 I imported a number of photos into a project then created albums within the project and "copied" the photos into the albums to organize them. This was a couple of days ago. Today I imported more photos to the same album and tried to "copy" them to one of the albums - but they would not copy. I created a new album within the same project and the photos copied to that fine.
Am I misunderstanding something, is there a bug, or what? Thanks for any help.

Photoshop CS5 strange brush jumping bug

Strange brush bug with Photoshop CS5 Extended English (Updated to 12.0.2 latest).

When I first start (quick) brushing on top right, the strokes appear at bottom right.... No shape dynamics, no scattering, just plain soft round brush in black. If I stroke slowly, the behavior is OK.
This is very frustrating and appears very often for me if stroke quickly, so I can't use smudge which is often done quickly.
Windows 7 (Simplified Chinese). Nvidia GTS 450 but OpenGL has been disabled. Graphic driver updated to latest. No brush scattering, no shape dynamics.

This subject shows up here from time to time.
Unfortunately, I don't recall reading about any specific fix that works.
Usually the advice is update video drivers, check all other software running on the system for possible interference, change wireless mouse batteries, try a wired mouse, completely remove mouse or tablet drivers and reinstall, make sure nothing is moving over an unused trackpad, etc.
Perhaps it would help if you listed your OS and what input device you're using.

It sounds like your are correct and shuffle is turned on in iTunes. Please use the following article as a reference for turning shuffle off.

You can play music in iTunes in various ways.
Shuffle or repeat songs
Do any of the following:
Turn shuffle on or off: Click the Shuffle button. Shuffle is on when the arrows are blue.
Shuffle albums or groupings: Choose Controls > Turn On Shuffle > “by Albums” (or “by Groupings”). iTunes plays the songs in the order in which they appear on the album or in the grouping, and then chooses another album or grouping at random.

Itunes library no longer sticks to highlighted artist/album

this has happened only after the recent update. not sure if this makes sense but here goes... if i want to listen to a particular artist/album, i highlight it on the main library window. while listening to the artist/album, i usually browse the other windows/playlists/etc. when i switch back to the library, the artist/album is no longer highlighted and my entire itunes library is displayed. bug or new "feature"?

Sometiumes programmers put features in applications which are not documented or are not required.
If this is the case, it's neither a feature or a bug. It's just not there.

NWDS SPS 09: Jars not in external Library - Patch available?

Is there already a patch available? I searched throught Service Market Place but there is only a patch for Developement Infrastructure (DI Build Tool).

IPhoto 8.1.2 - Rebuilding Photo Library - Photo Library is unreadable

Hi,
I am using iPhoto 8.1.2 and have had no issues with iPhoto for many years. However, when I tried to access iPhoto yesterday I obtained the following message:
"You can’t open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto.
You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto. QUIT"
I then tried to restart and re-install the iPhoto 8.1.2 update. Afterwards I got the following message:
"Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable
Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup. QUIT"
I backed up my photo library and went ahead and restarted the computer again and then proceeded to try and rebuild my photo library. After looking at several discussion threads in this forum, I hoped for the best and checked the following boxes:
- Rebuild the photos' small thumbnails
- Rebuild all of the photos' thumbnails
- Recover orphaned photos in the iPhoto library folder
- Examine and repair iPhoto library file permissions
- Rebuild the iPhoto library database from automatic backup
It took a long time, however in the end it seems like iPhoto was once again able to access my photos. However, there are 3 things that make me feel concerned:
(1) I don't think all my photos were present. Originally, if I am not mistaken, there were around 22,000 photos and now only 20,000 are present.
(2) During the process of rebuilding the library, iPhoto gobbled up another 5GB of hard disk space. I don't know why, but I think iPhoto might have doubled at least some of my photos.
(3) Afterwards it seemed like iPhoto froze during "building thumbnails" (the blue bar was about 80-90% complete) - possibly because of lack of hard disk space - and after letting it work over night, I decided to force quit iPhoto this morning.
I then decided to throw away the new "rebuilt library" because of the missing photos and the extra 5GB. After throwing the library away, I placed once again my previous backed up photo library in the pictures folder. So, essentially (I think), I am back to square one.
I would appreciate any help and advice on what I should do. I am afraid of doing the wrong thing and irremediably doing damage to my photos and photo library.

Thank you for your quick reply and support.
My HD has a capacity of about 320GB. When I received the error message I had about 24 GB free space. The actual Photo Library is about 19GB in size.
I did the back up on my hard disk, after duplicating the Photo Library I had about 5 GB left over space during the Photo Library Rebuild.
However, after I did the rebuild, the Photo Library size jumped up to over 24GB! Leaving me with only 100MB of HD space left, at this point the thumbnail rebuild seemed to stall. This is when I decided to eventually force quit iPhoto.
Now that I have thrown away the bloated Photo Library and returned to the original one, I am back at about 25GB free space.
I think I know the source of my issue, I don't know if this will help you in advising me on how to get myself out of this mess. I foolishly did a clean up of my hard disk with a clean up / space freeing program. I think one of the little files that was accidentally cleaned up was linked to / related to my iPhoto library.
Thanks for the link to iPhoto Library Manager. I realize that this is definitely an option, but if possible for me only as a last resort (I would like to keep all the books, and calendars data, etc. if possible).
Are there any other solutions? Why did iPhoto double some photos during the rebuild? Why did my Photo Library bloat up in size during the rebuild?
Did I check too many check boxes? Can I attempt another rebuild and if so, what can I do to do it properly?

Photo Library Question

I'm confused about the photo library. I have a folder on my drive just called Pictures and when I tell Itunes to use this folder and sync it to my iPhone I end up with another folder called Photo Library with the same pictures? And no matter what I do I can't delete those folders.

@Roaminggnome, this is not how "Apple handles photos".
If you load a photo to iPhoto, it will sit in the generic library.
You can then create albums, which like iTunes playlists are essentially just "shortcuts" to the original file in the library.
This bug with the iPhone album in ios 5 is different.
In iPhoto, the albums depends on what is available in the library.
In ios 5, the library depends on what is available in the album.
In ios 5:
If you create an album called "test 1" in iPhoto, and sync "test 1" to iPhone throu iTunes, you will see a "test 1" album in iPhone along with all the identicle photos in "test 1" in "photo library".
If you then create an album "test 2" on your iPhone, and copy all photos from "photo library " to "test 2", you will now have 3 folders on iPhone displaying all the same photos.
If you then go back to iTunes and uncheck the original option to sync "test 1", and resync your phone, you will end up with an empty "test 2" album on your iPhone and nothing else, photo library gone included.
