Library Service Poartl 9.2 Sql Server 2000

I am trying to add a repository and enable the Library Services. I have a XA driver datasource. I am using the MS sql driver. The connection all checks out. I can add the repository. I can add content, folders, types, but as soon as I turn on the Library Services I get an error
<Aug 17, 2006 3:50:45 PM MDT> <Error> <PortalAdminTools> <BEA-415097> RepositoryException was thrown: Your repository does not support this operation.
com.bea.content.RepositoryException: Your repository does not support this operation.
at com.bea.content.manager.internal.WorkflowOpsBean.getWorkflowOps(Workf
etc.....
Does anyone have the library service working with a MS Sql server 2000 DB?
Thanks
Jeff

Standard RepositoryImpl does not implement some advanced features(workflow, nested type, ..etc) in 9.2 content management. You should use the extended repository impl as you can.
ExtendedRepositoryImpl is an implementation class of com.bea.content.spi.ExtendedRepository. The implmentation class is probably not exposed to the public, but you should find the javadoc of ExtendedRepository.

  • Intermittent error establishing socket on SQL Server 2000

    I have a suite of 130 JUnit tests. Recently, they started to give me intermittent "error establishing socket" errors when trying to connect to a local instance of SQL Server 2000 via JDBC.
    Each test creates one or more connections. I've used wrappers to prove that I'm closing all of the connections, statements, prepared statements and result sets. The first 70 or 80 tests succeed. After that every test gets the "error establishing socket" exception. Sometimes (but not always) SQL Server continues to refuse connections when I re-run the suite. When that happens I have to let it sit for 30 seconds or so (or restart the server) before it will accept connections.
    I've tested this with both Microsoft's and WebLogic's JDBC drivers with the same results. There's nothing in the SQL Server logs when this happens. There's nothing in the Windows event logs, either.
    If I sleep for 5 seconds between each test the problem goes away.
    I installed the latest service pack (SP3a) for SQL Server 2000 with no change in behavior.
    All of this leads me to believe that something is wrong with SQL Server. Has anyone else run into this problem? Any ideas?

    I am not overly familiar with the SQL Server network architecture, but there are scenarios that could explain your intermittent failures.
    When you connect to a database one of two things can happen, you can start your own process on the server that acts as communication to from the server locally, or you are put in a queue for a static (shared) process that does the same thing.
    Assuming that most databases are initially setup with singular processes per connection, and you have established a connection then you disconnect from the database you do not automatically or instantly kill your process running on the server. There are two primary reasons for this as far as I know. First, the database puts more priority on doing something then doing nothing. Cleaning up and removing your process would be considered doing nothing, accepting incoming connections would be considered doing something. Second, the process may have to stay around to ensure all commit or rollback is completed properly (not always true in every database).
    So, I would expect that there is a connection limit (perhaps between 50-80) that you are exceeding because you are firing these connections rapidly and even though you close the connection in your remote program, the database simply doesn't keep up. Most databases will "cleanup" reasonably quickly if they have the resources to do so, so if you were to put a 30 second delay between every connection it would probably work just fine. It would probably work fine if you put a 30 second delay between after every 20 connections too. It's a bit of balancing act.
    There would be a couple of ways to alleviate this constraint. Putting in delays can demonstrate that this is in fact a work load problem (constrained by total count of connections), but doesn't really help in production instances. You can change the maximum number of connections allowed by the database, however this threshold may be caused by hardware resource (memory) limitations as much as it is a parameter in the database. You may have to add memory to accommodate this many connections. You may have to constrain how much memory each connection gets (again controlled by database parameters). You may have to accept this as a resource constraint and write your code accordingly. This often manifests itself by taking advantage of transaction managers (or transaction manager logic) that will queue up requests until database resources are available.
    Again, I'm not a SQL Server expert, but I'm reasonably certain that most of what I said applies if not specifically at least generally.
    Good Luck.

    Hope this is the right thread to post on! We have been given the challenge of connecting to and reading data from a SQL Server 2000 database.

    Hi SMV123,
    We can find the collation settings for Analysis services in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Connect to the SSAS instance from within SSMS->Right click on the instance and select Properties->An Analysis Server properties page will appear. And then
    on the left hand side is a Language /collation option.
    Besides, here is a link about how to install SQL Server Analysis Services 2000 for your reference.

  • Error Using the SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC Service Pack 3

    Hi,
    Im using the SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC Service Pack 3. The connection is succesfully, but when I use de statement.executequery() method, there is the follow exception:
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]Invalid object name 'PEC_COUNTRY'.
    This is my code:
    ResultSet resultSet;
    Statement statement;
    Connection connection;
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver").newInstance();
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://S0MALMUERTA:1433;user=sa;password=");
    statement = connection.createStatement();
    resultSet = statement.executeQuery("SELECT COY_INX, COY_NAME, COY_ICO FROM PEC_COUNTRY
    ");When I make the last instruction, occurs the above exception
    Thanks in advance
    Luija

    The way you are connecting, the default database used will be 'master' and i guess that the table PEC_COUNTRY was defined in another database.
    If it is the case you need to specify the database name.
    connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://S0MALMUERTA:1433;DatabaseName=yourdb;user=sa;password=");

  • MS SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4 upgrade

    Hi,
    I need to upgrade my actual SAP DataBase SQL Server 2000 from Service Pack 2 to Service Pack 4 in order to be more secure as a MS consultant is requesting, but following the comments on the SAP note 1026116 attached file, which references this MS article:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/B/D/1BDF5B78-584E-4DE0-B36F-C44E06B0D2A3/ReadmeSql2k32sp4.htm
    Referenced Text:
    "If your instance of SQL Server 2000 is being used by an application, first check with the provider of the application whether there are any SQL Server 2000 upgrade considerations specific to that application. "
    So following this instructions is there any SQL Server 2000 upgrade to Service Pack 4 considerations for a SAP Database of an ERP R3 ECC 6.0.
    Could anyone can help me please with this question?
    Best Regards,
    Erik Espinosa

    Hi,
    Service Pack 4 is supported and recommended for SAP ERP ECC 6.0. There are currently no known issues with upgrading to this service pack. The mentioned collation change don't have to be performed as long as you are not planning to upgrade to SQL Server 2005.

  • SQL SERVER 2000 - REPORTING SERVICES DATABASE ?

    Hi!
    A very basic question, how to know where reporting services points to the database and server ?
    miga

    For versions above than SQL 2000, you can refer to sql reporting services configuration tool.
    For SQL server 2000, reporting services view the database deatils as mentioned in below thread
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/e4263367-600d-4bb1-94e7-6b66e5df295d/how-do-i-find-configuration-details-on-sql-server-2000-ssrs?forum=sqlreportingservices
    To find the SQL Server name that host the report server database, please check the server name of the “ReportServerURL” in the RSWebApplication configuration file. The configuration file is located in the following folder:
    <drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Reporting Services\ReportManager
    By default, the report server database name is ReportServerDB, and the report server temporary database name is ReportServerTempDB. To check the report server database name the SSRS 2000 uses currently, we can try to join a report server
    instance to a Web farm by using different database. If the target database is not validated during the setup, it cannot be the report server database. Besides, we can also expand the tables of the databases; a report server database has different tables with
    common databases.
    For more information, please see:

  • JDBC connection to SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4

    Hello Everyone,
    I'm trying to do a simple application which save some values into a MS SQL Server 2000 Database's Table.
    The source code I've written is:
    package Logging;
    import com.brekeke.net.sip.sv.session.*;
    import com.brekeke.net.sip.sv.session.plugins.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class Logging extends AccountingBase {
    public int eventSessionStart( EventStat evstat, String[] argprm )
    int ris =0;
    int line=999;
    try {
    EventStat a;
    a = evstat ;
    String username;
    username=a.urlCaller;
    String callee;
    callee=a.urlCallee;
    Statement stmt = null;
    try {
    line=1;
    Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver");
    line=2;
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://BSSQL:1433;DataBaseName=Test;User=sa;Password=biesse");
    line=3;
    // Create and execute an SQL statement that returns some data.
    String SQL = "INSERT INTO log VALUES ('" + a.urlCaller + "','" + a.urlCallee + "')";
    line=4;
    stmt = conn.createStatement();
    line=5;
    line=stmt.executeUpdate(SQL);
    line=10;
    catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    finally {
    if (stmt != null) try { stmt.close(); } catch(Exception e) {}
    File f = new File("c:/prova.txt");
    FileOutputStream fos=new FileOutputStream(f);
    PrintStream ps=new PrintStream(fos);
    ps.println(line);
    ps.println(a.urlCaller);
    ps.println(a.urlCallee);
    fos.close();
    catch ( Exception ex ) {
    return ris;
    The problem is that into the Table no value is written, no problem compiling it and into the file prova.txt I can see only the value line=1 written!
    So there should be something wrong in the connection.
    I've already installed the JDBC drivers for SQL Server 2000 and I've addedd into the libraries the "msbase.jar, the mssqlserver.jar and the msutil.jar".
    But nothjng written into the Database :-(
    Can you help me please?
    Thank you very much in advance,
    Best Regards

    Hi,
    Yes i am able to connect from ISQL. Only connecting from JDBC is a problem.

  • Update kernel steps for IDES 4.7 - Windows - MS SQL SERVER 2000

    Hello,
    Concerning updating the kernel - for IDES 4.7, Windows, SQL SERVER 2000 - is there a way to locate exactly the.SAR files - for the database dependent & database independent parts - which are compatible with the used SAP version.
    Also, does updating the kernel involve only the following:
    - Downloading the .SAR file.
    - Taking a backup copy of the exe/run folder's content.
    - Stopping the SAP system and all related services.
    - Unpacking the .SAR files using the SAPCAR utitilty,
    i.e. are there any specific steps to be done after the unpacking ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Reda Khalifa
    IT Department - Almansour Automotive Group - Egypt

    Hi Reda,
    I guess You want to upgrade kernel from 6.20 to 6.40.
    Go to service.sap.com -> downloads -> SAP Support Packages -> Search for SP and Upgrades -> enter "kernel 6.40" and follow the link "kernel 6.40 32-BIT".
    On next window choose from location :SAP KERNEL 6.40 \ Windows Server \ Database independent following SARs (title):
    -       enq
    -       disp+work package
    -       dsrlib
    -      enserver
    -       librfc
    -       MMC (optional)
    -       Kernel Part I (for Basis 640/620/610) Q1/2007 (very important)
    -       saposcol
    From location:SAP KERNEL 6.40 \ Windows Server \ MS SQL Server choose following SARs:
    -      Database Library
    -       R3LOAD
    -       R3load Control
    -       Kernel Part II (for Basis 640/620/610) Q1/2007 (very important)
    Unpack it to newKernel directory and copy it to \exe\run directory.
    Next step  Frank Deijkers  already wrote.
    On the end of upgrade go to \exe\run catalog and run sapstartsrv.exe program for registering new service and COM library.

    Hi Sireesha,
    Some insights.....while using JDBC connector .
    For JDK 1.1 environments, access to the "current working directory" mustbe granted.
    For Java 2 environments, access to the temporary directory specified by the VM configuration must be granted. The following is an example of permissions being granted in the file java.security.policy for the C:\TEMP directory:
    // permissions granted to all domains grant { // Permission to create and delete temporary files. // Adjust the temporary directory for your environment. permission java.io.FilePermission "C:
    TEMP
    -", "read,write,delete"; };
