Libsh.so appears unlinked under Solaris 7 after 4.15 upgrade
Hello,
I began upgrading our directory servers from 4.14 to 4.15 this morning.
I started with the backup server, a SparcServer 10 running Solaris 7.
Everything went ok during the install but the server would not restart,
with the following error message:
# ./start-slapd
ld.so.1: ./ns-slapd: fatal: libsh.so: open failed: No such file or
directory
Killed
Upon further investigation, I found:
# ldd /usr/netscape/server4/lib/libsh.so
ld.so.1: /usr/lib/lddstub: fatal: /usr/netscape/server4/lib/libsh.so:
mmap failed: No such device
Using the libsh.so library from older installs allows the directory
server to operate fine (although at what cost, I'm not sure).
I copied the libsh.so file from Directory Server 4.15 to our master
server (an Ultra 2 running Solaris 8 MU4) and ldd shows its linked
fine. I have not upgraded the master server until I'm confident that it
will go smoothly though.
Am I missing patches or packages for my Solaris 7 install? Can anyone
explain what the error message from ldd means? I'm not as familiar with
the Solaris linker as I am the Linux one.
I'd appreciate any help anyone can offer.
Thanks,
Kevin

I ran into the same issue with Solaris 8 and upgrading from DS 4.13 to
4.15. You need to apply the lastest Solaris recommended patch cluster and
then perform the upgrade. I tried patching after applying the upgrade and
that didn't solve the problem. I even re-ran the upgrade over top of the
first one, after applying the Solaris patches and still had the same
problem. So you will need to revert back to 4.1x and apply the patches and
then perform the 4.15 upgrade.

Firefox/Flashplayer under Solaris 11
A customer has pointed out that under Solaris 11/Firefox 17 there are no plugins for viewing videos online (educational user). Yet I have noticed that after approx 20 seconds, the video DOES appear and plays normally without the aid of Flashplayer. What exactly is happening please?
One probable cause is that the site that provides the video switched to HTML5 video mode.

I tried all kinds of things to get gss to run, but I finally realized that
it was really ifconfig that was the problem. The system has two
network interfaces, and during installation I gave both of them
a name. However, hme1 was not really connected to anything.
All I did to get it to work was
# cd /etc
# mv hostname.hme1 no.hme1
After that, I rebooted, and everything came up OK. I don't know
if the original problem was the same, but this solved my problem. -
Sparc Storag Array 102 needs to run under solaris 10
I need to get a Sparc Storage Array to run under solaris 10. The soc driver that is needed is not supportted under solairs 10. I took the packages needed off of solari 9 cd and installed them but no luck. I tried to to do a modload and modinfo but it was not there.
The package loaded a file into /kernel/drv/sparcv9/soc. I have solaris 9 onanother disk on the same system and looked at the system trying to copy and edit the files on 10 but not device paths show up in the system. I copyied a file called soc that was in /kernel/drv/ I edited the /etc/device_aliases and path_to_inst but no good.
There are no entries in the /devices/ dir that reference the soc path. I do not if than can work but really would like to get this working. The fibre interface on that beast is NOT a Gigabit connection,
such as is common on current systems.
It was a 100Mbps connection through an array controller,
running with a 40MHz microSPARC II control module.
You'd exceed its throughput capabilities in any attempt
to read or write data at or beyond that 100Mbps rate.
I don't anticipate much assistance in these forums for a technology that goes back a decade-and-a-half.

I want to know if I need to configure tftp under solaris 10,if need, how to configure it?
how to show directory and file after connect command, which command I can use? ls is not right command. when I want to put a file, why Transfer timed out. I am puzzled with it. Which directory is source directory and which directory is destinate directory?A detailed example is better.
ThanksYou cannot list directory contents with tftp. If you want any sort of interactive session, use ftp.

Hi,
I'm trying to compile the current svn release of mono (free implementation of .NET framework) under Solaris 10/x86.
After fixing some GCC specific code, I'm currently stuck with the GCC internal function __builtin_frame_address (and __builtin_return_address).
These functions return information about the current stack trace, e.g. the function that invokes the current function. They are used in the integrated debugger for single stepping and other functionality.
So far I haven't been able to find a workaround for these function within the Studio Compiler.
What's is the best way to implement these function? Does the Studio Compiler (or the libc or some other library) already provide the necessary functionality?
With best regards,
Burkhard LinkeI'm afraid you have to write assembly code for that sort of functions

Hi All,
Recently I upgraded SCOM 2012 SP1 CU5 to CU6 and facing following issue:
1. New menu item got grayed out that appears upon the right click on Monitoring node(root) under monitoring workspace.
2. When we click Monitoring in the navigation pane, the Monitoring Overview opens, which displays a summary of health states and alerts. if we click any of the numbers in the overview, it is supposed to open a state view of the selected category but
this function does not work now.
3. Views like Active Alerts, Discovered Inventory, Distributed Applications, Task Status, Unix/Linux Computers and Windows Computer do not appear under Monitoring workspace after upgrading to UR6.
Has anyone out there facing such kind of issue? Any help on fixing these issues would be appreciating. Thanks in advance.Hi,
Have you re-opened the operation manager console?
There are some known issues when intalling UR6, please go through it:

In addition, there is CU7 for SCOM sp1, why not installing the newest one:

Compile occi under solaris using g++/gcc problem
Hi Expert:
I got some link error when i tried to compile a demo occi code under solaris using g++. Please share experience.
Thanks.Namespaces are not supported in -compat=4 mode. The only effect of -features=namespace is to recognize "namespace" as a keyword, and disallow it as an identifier. You don't actually get namespace semantics.
The pupose of -compat=4 is to allow code written for C++ 4.x to compile and run until the code can be updated to conform to the C++ Standard. If you want to use features from the C++ standard, like namespaces, you must use Sun C++ in the default standard mode.
If you remove -compat=4, the code compiles and links. If you need to use -compat=4 mode, remove uses of namespace, and fix the code to remove name conflicts.
BTW, we recommend against using -features=bool in -compat=4 mode. It can cause odd behavior when part of the code expects boolean expressions to have type int and part of the code expects bool to be a different type.
It appears you are using C++ 5.0, a product that has been obsolete for several years and which is no longer supported. You should consider updating to Sun Studio 11 (C++ 5.8), at no cost.

If you're sure where your library is run this script iTunesXMLPath. The library folder is the folder that file is in. Your media folder is recorded under Edit > Preferences > Advanced and is usually a subfolder of the library folder.

Hidden parameters appears after Oracle 11gR2 upgrade

Upgrading to : Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
Issue : There are around 130 hidden parameter appear after Oracle 11gR2 upgrade.
Before upgrade I have commented the hidden parameters on the PFILE. PFILE only to start the database for the Oracle 11gR2 upgrade.
Before upgrade, checking the hidden parameter:

I am using client parameter file ( PFILE ) commented the hidden parameters highlighted above.
However after successful upgrade to 11gR2, creating SPFILE from the PFILE ( commented the hidden parameters) now i am getting 132 hidden parameters.
SQL> select count(1) from sys.V$PARAMETER where name like '\_%' escape '\';

usecolumn_stats_for_functionI just came across a similar case: 1 (just one) of our (RAC-) databases has 130-something underscore-parameters set to non-default values.
version is still 11.1.0.7 (e.g. not 11gR2).
All of those hidden parameters seem to be CBO related (list on request).
Weird is: Only one of our (very similar, supposedly same-config) databases have these hidden parameters set.
Colleagues justly wonder: Who, When, What has caused these parameters to be expliclty set for this one system?
Note: we do not have the complete history of this system documented (systems have been managed by 3 different parties already).
It is quite possible they came in with some patch or upgrade (catupgr?) somewhere between 11.1.0.1 and 11.1.0.7, but a confirmation would be nice.
Information welcome.

Connect to MS-SQL Server from a Oracle 10g running under Solaris
Hi,
I have the following problem. I want to access a MS-SQL server from an Oracle database (10g Enterprise licence) that is running on Solaris.
After googling a while, the following questions arise:
- Is it correct that the Oracle Transparant Gateway for the SQL Server is not available on Solaris platforms (but only on Windows)?
- Is it right, that the second possibility to solve this problem is to use an SQL-Server odbc driver for Solaris and access the SQL-Server over ODBC? And: Is this feature included in the Enterprise licence?
- If yes, which driver is good and cheap ;-)?
- Is there any other way to solve this problem?
Thanks
Aron

user583720I believe the Transparenet Gateway for SQL Server is available on Solaris. The problem is that you need a Unix based ODBC driver which you will also need to pay for.
We had this same problem and decided to run a windows based Heterogeneous Services gateway and routed through it instead of using the SQL Server transparent gateway. The Heterogenous severives gateway is NOT an add on product (as is Transparent Gateway). The drawback would be performance as I would expect the native MS SQL transparent gateway to perform better, but in our case it worked acceptably. -
hello all,
I am trying to launch Mozilla 1.7 under Solaris 10 with multiple Java versions, like Java 1.5, 1.4 and 1.6.
I am not 100% sure but from what I see its not fully supported by Mozilla?
some behavior patters that I noticed is that Mozilla tend to lock the session against the JRE its running under. so if you started with 1.5
it will remain under 1.5 until you kill/finish that session..
could anyone please help with this or if you have any better suggestion?
thanks a lot

Hi can anybody tell me if i can mount a NTFS partition under Solaris 10??
Thanks for ur help.<table border="0" align="center" width="90%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td class="SmallText"><b>korsabad wrote on Wed, 11 January 2006 06:23</b></td></tr><tr><td class="quote">
if you use solaris x86 and the ntfs-partition
Not possible. NTFS has those windows-security-id's (you know, those about-40-character-long-id's) for each object which cannot be read from solaris.
</td></tr></table>
I think writing to NTFS is nearly impossible (due to changes of the NTFS version, security stuff, and so on).
However reading from an <u>unencrypted</u> NTFS partition seems to be a possible thing. I do not know if a tool or a driver <u>already</u> exists but I think it is a possible task to write a tool that reads from NTFS partitions.
I think writing a tool that reads from UFS partitions under Windows is an easy task, too. I wrote such a tool for reading the EXT2 file system under Windows long time ago.

Lightroom 5 file edited in photoshop cc 2014 does not appear back next to original after save. Is anyone else having this issue? If so what is the fix. The edited image appears back in lightroom in a new folder.
I'm performing a normal "Save", not "Save As". Work flow I'm using is as follows: Select photo in Lightroom 5.7 >" Edit In" Photoshop CC 2014 > (after working on photo is PS) > Save > close PS. Photo returns to Lightroom 5.7 in a new folder rather than next to the original. Prior to purchasing the monthly plan and upgrading to PS CC 2014, I performed this same work flow using Lightroom 5.6 and Photoshop CS6 without any issues.
Just for fun... I attempted to move the edited file back into the original folder. I received a prompt that said the file already existed in the original folder, however I can't see it except the new folder that LR created. I tried several different sort orders, etc without any success.
*** Follow up: Was unable to resolve the issue using Photoshop CC 2014. Uninstalled PS CC 2014 and went back to using Photoshop CS6. Return trips from LR 5.7 to Photoshop is now performing as it should: returning edited photo back to the original folder in LR 5 and placing next to the original image.
Should anyone have a suggestion on getting Photoshop CC 2014 to do the same, I would love to be educated.
Thanks for the help, dj_paige.
