License questions regarding CUCM/CUC upgrade from 9.1.2 to 10.5.2

Hi All,
I am set to upgrade CUCM/CUC cluster and have read the upgrade guides multiple times, just need some input from folks who've actuall done and survived the ordeal.
I have already installed a stand-alone PLM 10.5 and just need an idea what to expect with license migration once the CUCM/CUC has hurdled through the upgrade.
After CUCM/CUC has upgraded to 10.5, can I run the migrate license utility via e-fulfillment and UC instance license will automatically/electronically update its license. And if so, how long does this process take.
Or do I need to send a request to cisco licensing support via the generated request form from migrate licenses tool. Also how long does this process take.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
are u using standalone or co-resident ELM.Just refer the link
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/plm/10_5_1/releasenotes/CUCM_BK_P64D2D8C_00_plm-rn-1051/CUCM_BK_P64D2D8C_00_plm-rn-1051_chapter_00.html
For a standalone Enterprise License Manager deployment, use the Prime License Manager ISO:
To upgrade to Cisco Prime License Manager Release 10.5(1), use the following ISO file: CiscoPrimeLM_64bitLnx_10.5.1.XXXXX-XX.sgn.iso.
Where: X represents the specific branch and build number.
For a co-resident Enterprise License Manager deployment, Enterprise License Manager is upgraded to Cisco Prime License Manager along with your Unified Communications product upgrade.
You can upgrade a standalone Enterprise License Manager Release 9.1(2) deployment to a standalone Cisco Prime License Manager Release 10.x deployment.
For co-resident deployments, you can upgrade Enterprise License Manager Release 9.1 to Cisco Prime License Manager Release 10.x with Release 10.x of a Unified Communications application (Cisco Unity Connection or Cisco Unified Communications Manager) upgrade.

  • CUCM, IMP and CUC upgrade from version 9.1.1 (on VMWare) to version 10.5 (on VMWare)

    Hello,
    I have to perform a Refresh Upgrade to 10.5 for a client who has the following UC apps on a virtual environment:
    CUCM version 9.1.1
    IM and Presence version 9.1.1
    CUC (Unity Connection)  version 9.1.1
    A. I see on the CUC Upgrade document below:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/10x/upgrade/guide/10xcucrugx.pdf
    P.39 --> Change Guest Operating System after CUC Upgrade to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (64-bit). But nothing about the Network Adapter.
    B. I see on the CUCM 10.0 Upgrade Guide:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/upgrade/10_0_1/CUCM_BK_U4214F9D_00_upgrade-guide-cucm-100.pdf
    Page. 44:
    Step 3: Change the configuration of the VM as needed (Guest OS, ...) Step 4: Modify the Network Adapter to use VMXNET 3 Adapter type as steps before the CUCM upgrade.
    My questions would be:
    1. Do I need to change the Network Adapter for CUC as well? If yes, should this be done before upgrade or after?
    2. What would be the implication of not changing the Network Adapter from "Flexible" to VMXNET3?

    Hi csrlime,
    Not sure about future issues by remaining on the flexible adapter but best practice suggests going with what the OVA requires.  I performed a refresh upgrade from 8.5 to 10.5 in a virtualized environment.  For CUCM and CUC I changed the Network Adapter before beginning the upgrade.  The steps I took to make the network adapter change were:
    1.  Download a copy of the vmx file from the server(s) you are upgrading to your local machine.
    2.  Create a back up of that file incase you need to restore it in the future.  From cmd prompt in the same folder as the download .vmx.  copy "<virtual_machine_name>.vmx"
    then run the following from you cmd prompt
    copy "virtual_machine_namet.vmx" temp_file.vmx
    findstr /V /R "^ethernet0.virutalDev.*" temp_file.vmx > "virtual_machine_name.vmx"
    echo ethernet0.virtualDev = "vmxnet3" >> "virtual_machine_name.vmx"
    Upload the edited vmx file to your the datastore which will replace the current.   Then remove the vm from inventory and then add it back.  Check your setting and the network adapter should be changed to vmxnet3 now.
    Steps are from the Read Me file as an option to change it.  I don't why you can't make this change during a maint window.

  • Licensing for Unity Connection after Upgrade from 8.5 to 9.1.2

    I upgraded my Unity connection from 8.5.1 to 9.1.2. ( my CUCM is still on 8.5.1) . I have 200 CUWL-STD ( 2200 DLUs), and 50 CUWL-PRO (850 DLUs) . Now I am working with Cisco to get a license file for Unity Connection and apply that to my ELM. I attached my licensing page for when I was in 8.5.1 . Just want to make sure if I will be getting enough license with that license file, or possibly I need to buy more. Someone told me that if I want to have users with mailbox I need to order more licenses since every user take one CUWL license.
    Honestly i do not know how CUWL licensing work regardig to Unity or even CUCM.
    Thanks,

  • Question regarding MSCS post upgrade.

    We currently have ECC 5.0 ABAP only system (NO JAVA) running in MSCS environment. ( Windows-SQL server)
    Currently we have Two nodes such as  Node 1 and Node 2. At a given time we have all resources running either on Node 1 or Node 2.
    Now, we have completed upgrade of above ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0 ( again we do not have Java in ECC 6.0 ).
    Asper upgrade guide Page # 141 Section 6.2 some post-upgrade activities are necessary for an MSCS configuration, for this follow OSS note 941092.
    After reading these notes and as per OSS note 941092 / 1011190 / 919046 we have to install
    1)"ASCS" instance and
    2) Enqueue Replication server
    3) Additional ABAP dialog instance on other node.
    We will not be adding JAVA in future  OR we do not want JAVA isntance at all.
    So, my question is do we really have to do above step 1 , 2 & 3?
    Can we leave system after upgrade as it is? i.e not to install ASCS and enqueue replication.
    What is the necessity to install ASCS?

    in earlier version
    Central Instance = Message Server + Enqueue server + disp+work
    in newer version
    ASCS = Message Server + Enqueue server (only)
    you need to install CI (disp + work) + Enqueue Replication server in main node and DI (disp + work) + Enqueue Replication Server in additional node
    from my understanding only ASCS and DB Instance are clustered
    for example in my recent project
    BEFORE UPGRADE
    NODE 1 : CI Active + (DB INSTANCE passive)
    NODE 2 : DB INSTANCE Active + (CI Passive)
    AFTER UPGRADE
    NODE 1 : ASCS (Active) + (DB INSTANCE passive) + ENQ Replication Server (Active) + Central Instance (Active)
    NODE 2 : DB INSTANCE (Active) + ASCS (Passive) + ENQ Replication Server (Active) + Dialog Instance (Active)
    Dialog Instance is optional but please do remember without Dialog instance, once your CI down, you dont have Application Server
    Dialog Instance can be installed in additional node (node 2 in example above) or you can install in separate server
    all this information you can read from Upgrade Guide and SAP Notes

  • JTable question regarding Index/ID's from a VB guy

    Greets!
    So i am coming from VB6 where i use an ActiveX object table to display data from a SQL database table. When populating the table i include the 'ID' field from the database table as a hidden column. So when a user selects a row, i pull the hidden column's ID# and use that to do whatever (bring up another edit form, etc)
    So here i am in Java now, i've been playing with jTable for a while now and seem to be getting the hang of the basics, but when i replicated the above scenario, hiding the ID column had weird results (cursor would dissappear when i scroll over with the arrow keys). I also saw another post where another person said that along with populating the jTable i should also have an array that stores the ID that matches the RowIndex from the jTable itself.
    This is the table model that i am using:
    public class jTableModel extends AbstractTableModel {
        private double xTotal;
        private int colnum;
        private int rownum;
        private String[] colNames;
        private  ArrayList<Object[]> ResultSets;
        private Icon zIcon;
        /** Creates a new instance of FoodTableModel */
        public jTableModel(ResultSet rs,frmMain frm) {
          ResultSets=new ArrayList<Object[]>();
          Icon icon1 = new ImageIcon(getClass().getResource("/main/images/bullet_ball_glass_blue.png"));
          Icon icon2 = new ImageIcon(getClass().getResource("/main/images/bullet_ball_glass_red.png"));
          Icon icon3 = new ImageIcon(getClass().getResource("/main/images/bullet_ball_glass_green.png"));
          try{
            while(rs.next()){
                switch (rs.getInt("Type")) {
                    case 1: zIcon = icon1; break;
                    case 2: zIcon = icon2; break;
                    case 3: zIcon = icon3; break;
                Object[] row={zIcon,rs.getString("Name"),rs.getString("Description"),rs.getString("ID")};
                ResultSets.add(row);
            String[] zNames={
                "","Name","Description","ID"
            colNames = zNames;
            colnum=4;
          catch(Exception e){
              System.out.println("(jTableModel: There was an error: " + e);
        public Object getValueAt(int rowindex, int columnindex) {
           Object[] row=ResultSets.get(rowindex);
           return row[columnindex];
        public int getRowCount() {
            return ResultSets.size();
        public int getColumnCount() {
            return colnum;
        @Override
        public String getColumnName(int param) {
           return colNames[param];
        public double getTotal() {
            return xTotal;
        @Override
        public Class getColumnClass(int column) {
         return getValueAt(0, column).getClass();
        }Can anyone give me any tips in this area or point me in the right direction?
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • CUC upgrade from 8.5.1.11900-21 to 8.6.2.22900-9 Fails at post-install

    I have tried to upgrade a CUC 8.5 cluster to 8.6.2.  The refresh cop file was installed as per instructions including reboots.  When trying to upgrade the 1st server (primary/pub) everything goes well until installing the last unity connection component and i get "Error detected in post-install phase."  The system then restores to 8.5 and all is well (which is the good news).
    Looking through some of the logs i found the cuc-import failed to replace the db.
    Anyone else seen this?  I will open a tac case but thought i would check here first....

    I neglected, this is a VMWare on UCS ... memory/HDD/CPU is all in spec.

  • Question regarding Exchange ActiveSync migration from Exchange 2003

    Hello,
    I am a bit confused about info about requirements when migrating Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) from 2003 to 2010. Now this question is related to EAS only, forget about other services, such as OWA or Outlook Anywhere, for a while.
    Basically, all migration guides state that you have to configure and setup a legacy url for legacy services for co-existence. Based on that, I have had an understanding that Exchange 2010 CAS cannot proxy EAS users that are still on Exchange 2003, but issues
    a redirect command to EAS client.
    However, this article shows information that, based on my understanding, states that Exchange 2010 CAS DOES proxy EAS clients that are still on 2003: http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2009/12/08/3408985.aspx
    For migration from 2007 EAS to 2010 EAS the article shows redirecting, but not with 2003.
    So my question is: While talking about only EAS, do I need to configure legacy external url/namespace/name resolution or not?
    Thanks for answering!

    Hello,
    I agree with Rajith's suggestion.

  • Do I have to buy license for SharePoint 2010 to upgrade from 2007 to 2013?

    Hi, we have SharePoint 2007 (Enterprise) and now we want to upgrade directly to SharePoint 2013.
    I have been told that 2007 to 2013 is not directly possible and I have to go 2007 to 2010 to 2013.
    Does this mean I have to buy license for SP 2010 just for the upgrade process?
    Thanks in advance.

    No, the SharePoint 2013 key won't work for the SharePoint 2010 installation. Usually if you have downgrade rights (as part of your EA) or if you have a TechNet/MSDN subscription you'll have additional keys for older versions.
    If all else fails, you can use the
    SharePoint 2010 trial keys, provided you can migrate your data within 180 days.

    1) How do i design the jsp page such that the page will show perhaps a hyperlink for me to download the file?
    2) What about struts-config.xml? Do i need to modify any mappings there?
    It would be great if some kind developers were to provide some sample codes for me. Thanks alot. Your effort is kindly appreciated.

  • New question regarding iPod Video (converting from a DVD)

    First off...thanks again for those who helped me before. iSwuint seemed to work best for mac conversions for the new ipod. My new question is how to copy a dvd to make it compatible also using a mac. I know there is a program for pc that works, but I am using a g4 laptop. Thanks again in advance.

    The problem seems to be that it is seeing all the chapters as titles. The longest title is 22 min and it is like a hour and a half movie. Has anyone else had this problem.
    HandBrake sometimes has a problem listing all of the titles contained on a DVD. When HandBrake scans the title you may notice that it reads them all but when the list is generated, some entries in the list are omitted. This is likely what happened here. There are two approaches you can try. The first is to switch to an alternate application. The second would be to rip/extract the main title using a separate application like MacTheRipper and then use HandBrake's "browse" function to navigate to the appropriate VIDEO_TS folder files.

  • Interview questions on upgrades from 4.7 to ECC

    Hi,
    Can any one please post some potential areas/questions that will be asked for upgrade projects from 4.7 to ECC6.0
    Points will be awarded.
    Thanks

    Hi Frank,
      this is good question,  why because sap upgrades from 4.6b to ecc 6.0 is very risky.
      take one example , in 4.5b , me21n application having 620 screen where as in ecc 6.0 having 9000 screen . that time we will take care of it.
       check the obsolete function modules ,  4.5b , having ws_upload, ws_download.... use cl_gui_frontend_services , under these having differnt type of methods.
      once you change the code in ecc , go to tranx : SLIN check the error where it is exact.

  • Question on Upgrading from FCE to FC Studio2

    I'm currently using FCE HD 3.5, which I upgraded from FCE version 1.0
    I understand that no upgrade path exists from Final Cut Express to Final Cut Studio 2.
    However I have seen on ebay someone selling an upgrade to Final Cut Pro 5 HD from Final Cut express.
    I was wondering.... if I got this then could I then get a Final Cut Studio 2 Upgrade from FCP 5 HD?
    Does anyone see any problems with doing this? It seems to be a way to save money.
    Thanks,
    Steve.

    Tom,
    One other question: assuming that my upgrade from FCE to FCP5 is successful. Then how does the upgrade package for Final Cut Studio2 work (If I decide at some future point to upgrade again)
    Will it detect my FCP5 files or will I have to enter the FCP5 serial number, and if so then will I get into trouble at that point. Bottom line is will Studio2 accept the FCP5 serial number?
    Thanks Tom,
    Steve.

  • Upgrading from CS3. Should we go straight to CS6, or go to CS5?

    I work for a government agency, and we are considering upgrading from CS3 soon. We primarily use InDesign, with occasional uses of Photoshop and very rare uses of Illustrator. We also heavily use Acrobat Pro.
    We currently have Acrobat 8.3.0 and InDesign 5.0.4.  We are running Windows 7 on machines with 4 GB RAM and a 32-BIT Operating System.
    We use InDesign to create forms. There are occasional graphics, but not many. We also use color very rarely. We use paragraph styles heavily, but not object styles.
    My question is, should we upgrade from CS3, all the way to CS6?  Our main concern is that our thousands of forms make the conversion from one version to the next with as little movement as possible.  The placement of elements on the page is very precise, and changes in the documents needs to be avoided as much as possible.  I realize that some adjustments, especially in text, are going to happen.
    We also need to be sure that whatever we upgrade to will still work well with Acrobat. We are hoping that will also get upgraded, but we aren't sure about that at this point.
    Does anyone have any recommendations? Would we be better off going to CS5 or CS5.5 now and upgrading to CS6 from there later?
    My boss has no interest in going to the Cloud concept.  Continuous updates that could possibly affect form layout is something we want to avoid.
    I understand that at this point we can't actually upgrade to CS6, we will have to pay the full price for new licenses. I'm not so clear on whether we will be able to continue to upgrade in the future without going to the cloud concept. I believe you will be able to, but if anyone knows different please let me know.
    Thanks.

    IMO, the real question is "Why would we want to or need to change from InDesign CS3?"
    You didn't identify any possible reasons. If InDesign CS3 is a perfect fit for your current needs, the main compelling reasons are that you need to add more users, you need to exchange ID files with workers who are using later InDesign releases, and you can't purchase more CS3 licenses; or you're upgrading to new hardware and a operating system that doesn't support InDesign CS3.
    If you just need to obtain more licenses, it's likely if you have many users, your licenses were purchased under an Adobe Volume Licensing Plan (VLP.) I've read postings on this forum that VLP purchasers can buy more licenses for non-current InDesign releases. The idea is that all Adobe has to do is generate new license numbers, not retrieve and provide the older software. For details contact your VLP vendor.
    If the issue is needing to be compatible with newer releases, or being able to run on new incompatible equipment, then you need to buy new software or subscriptions at the going price. However, perhaps under VLP, there are attractive purchase options for multiple licenses.
    Perhaps someone on the forum can clarify the VLP?

    Thank you.  That was my own opinion, but I've been asked to look into it.
    Is staying in CS3 indefinitely an option, though (to avoid moving the files to CS6)?  I would think the further development of software would eventually make trying to use CS3 with ever advanced verseions of Acrobat really problematic.
