Licensing for RMS Client or IRM

Hi All,
We are trying to implement the IRM on top of the SharePoint environment which is up and running. My question here is do we need to buy the licensce for all the end users in order to use the AD RMS client services or else its a part of in built
Operating which just required an update?
My other question is I read that AD RMS client is not supported for the Operating Systems before windows XP, Is it true? If yes what is the alternative way to use the IRM for the users who are on the previous Operating Systems before Windows XP.
Thanks in Advance

Hi Ali,
The Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS) client is included with the Windows Vista, Windows7, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems and above versions. If you are using Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows Server
2003 as your client operating system, a compatible version of the AD RMS client is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center Web site.

  • License for XE Client and non-XE server

    Hi,
I want to use the XE Client to access a non-XE server. The license agreement states:
    Any use of the Oracle Database Express Edition is subject to the following limitations;
    1. Express Edition is limited to a single instance on any server;
    2. Express Edition may be installed on a multiple CPU server, but may only be executed on one processor in any server;
    3. Express Edition may only be used to support up to 4GB of user data (not including Express Edition system data);
    4. Express Edition may use up to 1 GB RAM of available memory.
Does that mean that I cannot use the XE Client for accessing a non-XE database?
Or can I freely distribute the XE Client together with my application?
    Thanks,
    Nils-Olof Wilske

Here's the way I'd read it:
The XE client is freely distributable, but the intentions are that you're using that with the XE-server.
If your non-XE server is licensed by the processor, I don't think Oracle cares which kind of client you use with it. If your non-XE server is licensed by the named user, you would still need to have licenses for those connections, no matter which client they were using, whether it be XE, Instant, Standard, etc.
You can't use the XE client to get around named user licensing requirements.
Was that the intended question, or was it strictly a question about distributing the client with your applications?

  • Licensing for Exchange

    Hello,
    I am Saw from Myanmar.
I would like to ask for CAL licensing in Exchange Server.
    1Q..
In Window Server, for Eg: If we have 50 clients in our network that we should have 50CAL licenses.
Even though we don't like to license for 50, only we license 30 that we can still use 50 clients. This is in Window Server.
The CAL license in Window Server is just paper.
In Exchange Server, Can we use like Window Server?
We would like to license for 30 clients firstly as testing, but we will use client more the licenses we have.
    Can we use like this?
After that we will license for all.
    2Q..
I have Exchange Server with many user and mailbox now, but all are Pirate Version.
My AD and Domain are not in good condition. So we want to deploy New ExEnt Server + same previous mailboxes.
Can I migrate all mailboxes to new ExEnt Server?
Can I pls get any recommendation from you and which steps we should follow?
    Best Rgds,
    Saw

First you can start with 30 CAL license and try to add more user and buy as need.
Since your are running with pirate version it is better to introduce on more AD server and transfer the role it
and remove the AD which is not in good condition and then check if the your pirate version exchange server is running fine, once confirmed then install new exchange server ENT edition and then start moving the mailbox

  • Office 2013 RMS Client Configuration - Your Machine is not setup for IRM

    Hi All,
I have successfully setup a test AD RMS farm but stuck at trying to configure Office 2013 to work with this. The farm configuration is as below
    DC: Windows 2003
AD RMS Server: Windows 2008/ SQL Server 2008 R2
Client: Windows 7 64 bit with Office 2013 32 bit, Domain Joined
Client is domain joined and SCP has been successfully registered ( I can see the SCP in AD RMS properties).
When I open word and select Protect Document -> Restrict Access, the only option is to Connect to RMS Server and get template, which eventually gives an error
Your Machine isn't setup for Information Rights Management (IRM). To set up IRM, sign in to office, open an existing IRM protected message or document, or contact your help desk.
Surprisingly, when I open a document protected by IRM (from a different machine), IRM is automatically configured for the user and starts working from that point. However any new domain user login into this client faces the same issue.
Can anyone help identify the required registry keys that need to be present for getting this working on the client.
    Thanks for your help

    Hi  Manoj,
To install Microsoft Deployment Agent, you must be a member of the Windows
Administrators security group on the computer where you will install it. You must also be a member of the
Release Manager role in Release Management.
From the log, the user you‘re using seems not in the local administrator group. Please make sure the corresponding users has the needed permissions to install the deployment agent. Please check this
page for more information about installation of deployment agent. If you have any other issues, please elaborate more details about your scenario.

  • REMOTE DESKTOP SERVICES CLIENT ACCESS LICENSES FOR MICROSOFT WINDOWS SERVER 2012 STANDARD AND DATACENTER

I am using a window 7 professional  service pack 1 and I purchase REMOTE DESKTOP SERVICES CLIENT ACCESS LICENSES FOR MICROSOFT WINDOWS SERVER 2012 STANDARD AND DATACENTER. but  the seller did not send me any installation CD or instruction
    on how to use it.
Please how can I use it on my window 7 professional  service pack 1.
    Thank you.

Though Bill is absolutely correct for most CALs, Remote Desktop Services does have its own special licensing server.  I haven't installed one on 2012, yet, but here is a step-by-step guide for 2008.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd983943(v=ws.10).aspx
Here is a lab guide for 2012 -
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj134160.aspx
But, the explanation of your environment begs the question - what are you trying to do?  You say you have a desktop OS and you are talking about Windows Server products.  In that light, your question does not make a lot of sense.

  • FMS Licensing - Can I host it for my clients?

    Hi everyone,
I'm looking at the licensing for FMIS 3, and I see this
    clause:
    2.8.4.
Prohibited Use. Except as expressly authorized under this
Agreement, Licensee is prohibited from: (a) using the Software on
behalf of third parties; (b) renting, leasing, lending or granting
other rights in the Software including rights on a membership,
subscription or hosted basis; (c) providing use of the Software in
a third party outsourcing facility or service, service bureau
arrangement, or time sharing basis; (d) allowing any person who is
not an Authorized User from using the Software; and (e) bundling or
integrating the Software with other products and services.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, with respect to the Interactive
Server and Streaming Server only, Licensee is permitted to host the
Software for use by persons other than Authorized Users.
Does this mean that I am not allowed to develop apps for my
clients and host them on my server? Do I have to get each of them
their own servers? Does anyone have any insight into this clause?
    Thank you!
    - Adrian

hrms. thats interesting. I honestly don't know but if you
find out let me know. Maybe that explains why hosts out there still
use FMS2 for hosting apps for their clients with.

  • RMS Client support for ADFS 3 with MFA

We are using Azure RMS. The Users are synchronized from on-premise AD onto Azure AD. If we configure the Relying Party Trust for Azure RMS authentication with MFA (Multi-Factor-Authentication like SMS, OneTimeToken...), the User couldn't login from a Windows
Client with the RMS Client installed.
The reason is, that RMS Client only ask for username and password. A another box for OTP, SMS Code and so on doesn't appears.
Because the login into Azure RMS to get access to protected documents is very sensitive, it should be able to using MFA with the RMS Client.
Are there a timeline to implement MFA support in the RMS Client (e.q. for Windows)?
    Thanks for your help.

Office apps have historically required app passwords since they didn't support MFA. Newer Office apps are now using modern authentication that allow sign-in through ADFS and/or Azure AD. If MFA is enabled in Azure AD for federated accounts, the primary
authentication should be done by ADFS, after which Azure AD will perform the MFA. The new Android apps came out later than the new iOS apps. There is a blog post put out by the Office team with details on the modern auth for their apps at
    http://aka.ms/officemodernauth.

  • How can I buy or license InDesign CS4? (I need to work in CS4 for a client, even though I have a CC subscription.)

How can I buy or license InDesign CS4? (I need to work in CS4 for a client, even though I have a CC subscription.)

There's no way to buy CS4 any longer through official reseller channels. If you can get the work done in 30 days you can use a trial, which you can download at Download and Installation Help

  • Logon Script for bootstrapping RMS client

    Dear all,
When a user first time use RMS, he needs to activate the AD RMS client by invoking the rights management feature in a office application, for example, try to protect a word document. But this process is somehow a little bit slow and somehow
might confuse user in a multiple forest scenario.
Is there any logon script we can use, to automatically check whether the logon user has RMS client activated or not, if not , do the bootstrap work? Can you share with me some idea?
    thanks,

    Hello,
not sure about but check AD RMS Service discovery in
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd772753(WS.10).aspx:
"Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) service connection point (SCP) automatic service discovery. This is the recommended way to deploy an AD RMS environment. In this scenario, an SCP is created in the Active Directory forest where the AD RMS
cluster is installed. When the AD RMS client attempts user activation on the computer, it queries the SCP to find the AD RMS cluster and download the rights account certificate (RAC). With automatic service discovery, no additional configuration
is required on the AD RMS client."
    Also templates should help you:

  • Apps for different clients with one creative cloud license

Can I publish apps for different clients with one single edition license on creative cloud?

Well, "should" is about as good as it gets, no one is going to enforce that, and it's certainly making me think very very hard about whether to bother with a pro licence again in August!
And yes I'm very much aware of the few advantages of the Pro Licence, I do need to see some much bigger differentiators to justify the extra cost though!
Just putting cards on the table :-)

  • BMC APPSIGHT for SAP client diagnostics - License

    Hi,
I downloaded the BMC Appsight tool for SAP client diagnostics and also blackbox. As i understood there is no license required to use this client tool. If i launch the appsight system and gave URL of solution manager :
http://<host>:<port>/sap/bc/srt/rfc/sap/AGS_CHECK_LICENCE_SEP?sap-client=<Solution Manager client number> but it is giving connection failed ... is it something related to license ? or could be some other issue...
    Thanks,
    Murali.

    Murali,
I'm having the same issues you had.  I believe I've saved everything correctly in WSCONFIG, yet the BMC Client is still getting the error "Solution manager connection failed".
Did you find any documentation for this part of Solman_Setup for Solution Manager 7.1?
When I put the URL to the AGS_CHECK_LICENCE_SEP in a browser, I get a blank page, which leads me to believe that the service is being reached.
    Any tips would be appreciated.
I've gone through all the BMC notes, and followed the documentation in solman_setup 20 times now, with no luck.

  • Licensing for Client

    Dear All,
We have Oracle Standard Edition Per Socket Based License.
We have downloaded Oracle Client Application from :
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
After installing the same, in registry key its getting displayed as ORACLE_BUNDLE_NAME="Enterprise"
Also the downloaded client is not having any version mentioned.
We dont have any license for enterprise edition.
Is there any seperate Oracle Client Application for Standard edition?
Will it matter if we are putting Enterprise Edition Client on End users desktop?
    - Ashish Kesarkar

Hi and welcome to the forums.
There is no "standard edition" client. I don't know about the registry key, but there shouldn't be a problem.
However, I have to say that no one here is an Oracle sales manager, so you might want to contact your sales manager to get a formal approval.

  • License for Oracle Virtual Desktop Client

I am trying to find a statement by Oracle as to wither Oracle Virtual Desktop Client is considered freeware or not. At one time I thought I saw a statement to the effect that OVDC was provided with a current support agreement but I can't seem to find that statement now. Does anyone know where there is verbage to this effect?

I am afraid it is a bit more complicated than that. You can buy licenses per device or per named user. If you license per "named user" then you can install and use OVDC an as many devices as you wish. But if your use "per device" licenses, you'll need a license for each Sun Ray DTU and also all devices with the OVDC installed.
I found this on iTunes concerning OVDC for iPad:License: Use of Oracle Virtual Desktop Client requires a valid Sun Ray Software or Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure license.Bjoern

  • Office files protected with AD RMS Client / SDK and Office

    Hello,
I'm facing a strange issue when it comes to open an office file that was protected with AD RMS Client (to be precise, with an application built with AD RMS SDK 2.1). I would like to understand the reasons behind this issue (maybe some missing or wrong configuration)
or if this is just a gui only problem that does not affect the correct behaviour of the whole suite.
    I'm not using templates.
If I protect an office file directly from MS Word (for example, but we have the same with Excel and Powerpoint) and save it, then I can close it and re-open it. The following infobar is displayed:
Now with AD RMS SDK 2.1 we have developed a standalone program that applies the same permissions on office files via the AD RMS Client. When the file is re-opened, the following infobar is displayed:
"Do Not Forward" is shown, no reference to email permissions was added by the client. The description is wrong too, as print permission has been granted, for example.
    Is this behaviour correct?
    How is this infobar created?
Is there a setting (either in client or in server) that may be wrong, and that leads to this issue?
    Thank you,
     Massimiliano

Thanks to Microsoft response, this issue has been resolved.
The license handle needs some additional properties to be set, in order for Office to display this information correctly.
    IpcSetLicenseProperty(licenseHandle, FALSE, IPC_LI_DESCRIPTOR, pIpcTemplateInfo);
The last parameter is a PIPC_TEMPLATE_INFO pointer to a structure of type IPC_TEMPLATE_INFO where
wszName and wszDescription are filled with valid values.
