Lighting and crushing on a G4

Hello.
I'm wondering if anybody can give me some advise out there regarding a strange behavour that my PowerMac G4 is having since some time ago... the machine works fine, but, sudenly, the power button on the flat monitor starts to show more or less 4 flashes and then the computer turns off (!!!!). After that, it turns on by itself... it is now hapening almost daily!!!
I would really appreciate it if anybody could give me some technical advise regarding this problem...

Did you purchase your iPod Touch second hand or direclty from the Apple Store? I would recommend that you go back to the Apple Store and show them both devices in action so that they can advise you closely.

Self Assigned IP Addresses amber lights and no internet HELP!

Ok bear with me as I try to explain my prediciment!
I have an imac G5 with a Airport Extreme card properly connected and currently at full signal! The problem I'm having is that when i click safari (or IE) it doesn't load up any pages and a littke box pops up saying that it cannot find the server! so I go to network settings in system preferences and check the network status. I have an amber light and it says "airport connected to (my server) IP address self assigned your mac may not be able to connect to the internet" the problem is it is not self assigned it is done through DHCP.
I have had internet working perfectly at another house and it has worke don the odd occasion for a couple of days here so I don't think its a fault card (as i say it picks up a signal fine). I have tried putting in all info in manually but this has not helped (although on 1 occasion it did). I have baffeled the university technician with this problem. Im currently using ethernet to connect but this is no good as I need the computer in my bedroom and not the dining room (student accomodation) if you have any suggestions or have experienced this problem yourselves i would be delighted to hear of any answers and suggestions!

Duane is right in that if ACL's (access control lists) are set on the wireless access point, (as they are in my school) you will need your mac address of your airport card to add to the router.
Here's what I would do.... Open up Network Prefs in the System Prefs app. Create a "New" location and name it whatever you want ("Wireless at Home"). In the "Show" drop down menu, select airport. You should see 5 tabs in the airport window. Airport, TCP/IP, PPoE, Appletalk and Proxies. Click the airport tab and select automatically where it asks you what default network you want to join. You'll also find your mac address for your airport card in that pane. Next, click on TCP/IP and select DHCP from the IPv4: drop down menu, make sure no information is showing in this window. In other words, no numbers in DHCP or DNS servers, etc. If it's blank and ready to go, hit apply. The router should then hand off an IP address. Close system prefs and look in the menu on the upper right hand corner of your screen (by the date and time). See the airport fan? Does it have black bars through it? Or are they grey? Or, does it just look like a blank semicircle (airport is not turned on). If you don't see this menu, go back to network prefs and open the new location you've just made and go back to the airport tab. There is a check box in there that says, show airport status in menu bar. Turn that on. Now, go back to the menu and if the bars are grey, click on the fan and see if your network is listed there. Click on that to join. You have made a new location with fresh DHCP settings and told your airport card to connect automatically to whatever network is available.
Your tech guy at school is probably a PC head and that's why he's been stumped. He shouldn't be.

PLEASE HELP flashing light and playbook doesn't switch on!!

Hello,
I have my tablet won't switch on and when I try to turn on, the red light and green light flashing 5 times. And then nothing. Unable to turn on.
I tried a reboot by pressing power + volume - and nothing!
I tried to update with BlackBerry Desktop Manager (latest version) and when the update reaches the end error message comes to me and it there was a problem: "A connection to the tablet Could not be ESTABLISHED. Please connect your tablet and try again. "
I also tried to charge it with a 2000mA charger for several hours and still nothing.
I no longer guarantee
Please help me, I do not know what to do.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. After the error message, I plugged in the charger. It took quite a while but the tablet started charging. It reinstalled the update when it reached the 20% level. Another update error came up to change my setting. I checked my setting but didn't change anything and just reinstall update again which this time was a success. Hope this would help.

Why is the print lighter and the photos a little blurry when using Firefox?

It started on yesterday, Jan 4, 2012. With Firefox, the print is lighter and harder to read, and the photos, in general, seem unfocused/a little blurry unless you look real close. i didn't have that problem before switching over fro Safari.

I have a problem with color prints from photoshop elements 12. The pictures are too light and with strange colors. I have a Canon pixma mg615I0 printer and use mac os X yosemite. The pictures are taken with a coanon eos 550d in the color space sRGB. I have followed adobes recommendations and have tried both letting the printer respektive photoshop manage the colors. But nothing works. I see that there are different opinions about which is best to do so I tried both. I have the latest printer driver installed. Can anyone help me with this?

Do the following:
Print a test page from the printer. Perhaps the print head needs cleaning via its maintenance facility.
Let the printer manage colors, not PSE
Calibrate the monitor

What makes you so sure it isn't software?
The camera can be focused by take the point of focus on the touch screen.
If it is new as you said, it should be under warranty. Make a Genius Bar appointment or contact Apple with a repair request.

I have the same problem with my airport express – a blinking yellow light and it is not working. I have tried resetting it a few times.

Mini Mac, no light, and roaring fan!

Hi chaps please could you advise on my mini mac prob,
Basically unit was completely switched off for a couple of days, when switched on it booted up to a white screen with the apple logo and spinning timer which kept locking up.
I did a PMU which got me functioning properly (seems to be) but has left me with no indicator light and the fan keeps roaring away at an exaggerated speed.

IPhoto books too light and/or inconsistent???

Hello, Has anyone figured out if the general consensus is that the iphoto books are printing light? An order of 30 medium softcover came out light and also inconsistent from book to book. The hardcover seemed not too light and looked better.
What are others experience, as I would like to try a fix and make all the photos slightly darker and perhaps a bit more saturated....
Any thoughts??

I too have had this problem. I have ordered about 10 large books in the past and the photos were vivid and really looked pretty good. But the ones I received about 2 weeks ago were grainy and the images were really washed out. Funny thing is that I also ordered some single prints of the same pics used in the album and they are gorgeous and clear (very saturated!!). I realize the printing process is different with the books vs. the prints, but this was a tremendous difference. I did email support and they refunded me my $90.00 within 3 days of my email with no questions asked.
I have been reading a lot of these posts with a lot of suggestions for "tweaking" preferences, etc., but I'm convinced that there is a problem with the Apple printing or the software upgrades because I have not changed my equipment - the only thing that has changed is the version of iphoto I'm using. There is no other explanation for having 10 books look great and the newest ones looking so bad! I really like having the books and I hope Apple will resolve this soon.
So as to your question about making the photos slightly darker.........well, you still run the risk of receiving another bad book.

The challenge with sports is that you are REALLY pushing the camera gear to it's limits. Fast action requires fast shutter speeds. But fast shutter speeds demand a lot of light and only outdoor games played during the daytime have that. Indoor games or games played under field lighting at night generally do not have the kind of lighting needed to shoot with fast shutter speeds -- not the kind of shutter speeds needed to freeze action. So this ends up demanding a camera with excellent ISO performance and lenses with very low focal ratios so they can collect a LOT more light when the shutter is open. This gear is expensive.
You will want to consider a reasonable budget depending on what you can afford and the needs of the specific sports.
Are these indoor or outdoor sports? If outdoors, are these played during the day or are they night games?
The "best" camera for sports and low light is the EOS-1D X. It has phenominal low-light performance, has an amazing focus system, and can shoot at 12 frames per second. But it's about $6800 for the "body only" and then you still need lenses. I'm guessing this is probably not what you had in mind. But if money were not a constraint... this would be the one to go for.
The 5D III is another amazing camera for low light performance and and also has an amazing focusing system (largely the same as the 1D X) can shoot at 6 frames per second, and only costs $3500... again, that's the "body only". Still probably not what you had in mind.
The 70D has an extremely good focus system (though not as good as the 5D III and 1D X), not quite as good as low light (but pretty good and much better than a point & shoot camera) and shoots at 7 frames per second (1 fps faster than 5D III) and it only costs $1200 for the body only.
The T5i will be noticeably less expensive than the 70D... a good (but not extremely good) focusing system and 5 frames per second, but the body and 1 kit lens combined is about $850 but that wont a lens suitable for use shooting sports so you'll still need to invest in more appropriate lenses.
When shooting action photography in low light, what you _really_ want is a lens that can collect a lot more light than the average lens for that very brief moment when the shutter is open. Such a lens can allow you to use a faster shutter speed to help freeze those action shots. But *which* lens you use depends on the sport.
For low-light sports, these would ideally be f/2.8 zoom lenses... but f/2.8 zoom lenses are not cheap. Canon's EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM (ideal for most indoor sports and outdoor sports IF the action is happening close to you) is about $2500. Sigma's lens is about half that price. But if you're covering action on a large athletic field and the players are far away, they'll still be small. Sigma makes a 120-300mm f/2.8 zoom for sports... for the low low price of only $3600.
Scott Kelby does a video to talk about sports photography and he discusses the equipment used and why... and basically says if you want the gear for shooting sports, you basically need a suitcase full of money.

You probably don't really need 1080 at 60 for your finished projects but since you're just starting out with Motion, you need to lower your expectations. A long way. 1080 is about 2 million pixels per frame, DV is only about 400,000. That's not just five times as many pixels for the Mac to track; everything in video is exponential.
Explore the training tutorials available by Mark Spencer. You will get an idea of how his super powerful machine reacts with the software.
Adding a light roughly doubles the processing time over flat scenes. Two lights increases processing again. Reflections require processing the lights and then calculating the reflections so add another quarter of the time required for flat scenes. Add camera movement, motion blur, and depth of field and you need exponentially more processing time for every frame. The preload of renders into RAM is one of the cooler features of Motion, as comapred to After Effects, but that takes tons of time, to.
Try working in ye olde DV resolution for a few days. Get to know the software's limitations and what gets imposed by your Macintosh. Step up to 720p/30 and see how things slow down.
