Lightroom 1.4.1  constanly crashes

I'm working on a G5 iMac 10.5.4. Lightroom was working just yesterday.
Today Lightroom appears as normal except for my identity plate is missing and then it crashes. It has been doing this repeatedly this morning.
I haven't to my knowledge installed software or changed the system in between today and yesterday.
The error report states: Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS) Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000008 Crashed Thread: 12 . Further down I think it reads Thread 12 is: com.adobe.ag.substrate 0x003d16e4 AgTempLuaState_end + 1304
Any suggestions?

Bruce-
Please look inside the LR folder inside of Pictures, and search for a file ending in .lock, with LR closed. If you find one, delete it, then relaunch LR. If no joy, try trashing Prefs (see Faq) and then double click on the .lrcat file that's your main (or only!) one.

  • NVidia video card- Lightroom freezes at startup, stalls, crashes when switching modules [Windows]

Issue: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom freezes when you start, crashes when you switch between modules, displays blank screens in Slideshows, stalls frequently or runs extremely slowly.
Solution: The nVIDIA nView Multi-Display Technology software (also known as nView Desktop Manager) is known to cause these symptoms. If you have this software installed, please see following  Technote for resolution of problem.

Okay, I ended up replacing nouveau with the nvidia proprietary drivers.  I did a full update of my system, which I hadn't been able to do in over a month because of catalyst's conflict with xorg, and managed to get X working (sort of).  The only issue is that once X starts, and brings me to slim, the keyboard ceases to respond.  If I turn the numlock on before X starts, it turns off as soon as X starts.  Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't do anything either.  Not really sure where to go from here other than to switch to vesa or something
EDIT: I tried installing the beta driver as well, but nothing changed.

  • Lightroom 1.4.1 keeps crashing

I have used Lightroom 1.4.1 for years with no problems. Now, after trying to download some pictures the other night, Lightroom "quits unexpectedly" and keeps crashing! How can I solve this problem and still save my catalogue?

When Lightroom is closed look in your My Pictures Folder> Lightroom, there will be several files there including your catalog file. If there is a file ending with .lock delete this file then restart Lightroom. See the attached screen capture. Make sure you do not delete the actual Catalog file.
When Lightroom it creates this .lock file next toyour catalog file, ensuring there is no other access to the catalog. The file gets deleted automatically when Lightroom is shut down. However if Lightroom is not shut down normally then it will remain in place and prevent Lightroom from opening.

Hi My computer crashed and I was forced to reformat my drives. How can I register my License as it is still active.  This prevents me from using Lightroom

    Hi Keith
A short desciption of my problem
    History
Installed Lightroom on my Zbook and activated my serial number
            Windows crashed and reciovery failed
            Format harddrive & re-install windows
Downloaded Lightroom via free abode cloud interface (Dec/Jan)
            Could use lightroom  until February
Lightroom develop is inactivated ( I can see all my pictures in the Library mode)
When I punch in my serial nr for lightroom I get the message that it is already active
I presume that the issue is that it seems that I am trying to active my license again ?

  • How to reinstall lightroom 4 after hard drive crash

My hard drive recently crashed and I have an all new one now.  My comp is running Mavericks and I need to reinstall Lightroom 4 (that was the latest version I was using, and I downloaded it, no cd).  How do I reinstall it??  When I go to "My Orders," the download option is not available.

I believe this might of worked after all. I did like you said and double clicked on the My Catalog file. PSA and it just put in the timeline and dates on the pictures but had a ? mark and no picture. I then chose to dowload files from the My pictures folder that the downloader was directed to for each download. It seems to restoring the photo's and putting them with the tags and all. I am so relieved because I had 37,500 pictures that would of been untagged and out of order. I learned my lesson to do a backup more frequently! Thanks for your help. If I would want to update to PSE 9 is it compatible with windows XP?

  • Lightroom 5.2\5.3 crashing after two uploads to flickr

    Hi all,
After getting a bit of a nagging from the in laws I got round to cataloguing the last few months photos to upload the pics of the kids.
When I go to upload to flickr it will publish two images then crash and the cycle repeats - having a few hundreds to upload there is no way on earth I'm going to babysit Lightroom while it does this.
I'm using jFlickr and have the most up to date version - although I was reluctant to mention this as I half suspect my issue will now be shelved using this as a get out - but frankly Adobe's offering is poor and presumes you've just started with Flickr.
The OS is Windows 8.1 64bit - LR 5.3 (same results on 5.1 and 5.2)
From the event logs I have the following errors:

It them repeats through one of these three for each failure.
Thanks for reading and I hope someone out there has found a solution.

    Any ideas anyone?
Jeff suggested checking the integrity or a re-install - I have completely rebuilt the PC - so clean install plus totally up to date versions - I also check integrity when I backup and it always passes, in addition I cleared the prefs file (again Jeff's idea) but it still crashes, but only with his plugin.
Is there a way to rebuild the catalogue without loosing the settings?
Could it be because I recently converted to DNG?

I think Lightroom 1.1 needs to be taken off the market until they fix these problems.
I just got a new Dell 690 Workstation. On my old computer I had my copy of Lightroom 1.0 and no problems at all. Installed 1.1 on my new computer and things cascaded downhill from there. Lightroom crashed Photoshop CS3, I could not open Lightroom 1.1 upon restarting my computer, got a MW32 Runtime error. Some of my newly installed plug-ins crashed. I finally called Dell Tech support, they had me do a restore my computer, that didn't fix it. I finally started working backwords to find out what was causing me this hell. I had not installed the 1.1 update until a couple of days ago and had not used the program until this morning. I am on Windows XP Pro and noticed upon reading the update info that there were Windows Vista compatibility fixes attached to this update. I don't know, but I did a system restore reverse and got back to this morning, uninstalled Lightroom 1.1, reinstalled 1.0, and everything is fine. I pity the people that bought 1.1 as their first version. I have been reading other blogs about 1.1 problems and MAC is having them too. It is crashing hard drives etc.

  • Lightroom 1.3 - Window XP crashes when shutting down LR 1.3

I am running Window XP SP2. Just installed LR 1.3 a week ago and every time I shut down LR 1.3 the system blue screened (CRASH). System rebooted itself immediately, therefore unable to see the error messages. Never had this problem with 1.2. Seem to be some file handing problem.
Anybody run into this problem with LR 1.3. Any idea what is the problem is.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    Thanks Don,
I've checked the FAQ folder and searched for anything describing where to find the Prefrences file in windows Vista for Lightroom version 1.3.1.
This (the lines below) is as close as I came, and I don't have an AppData folder in Users/My User Name/AppsData
Rename the Lightroom Preferences.agprefs file (for example, to Lightroom Preferences .old) in the Users/[username]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Lightroom/Preferences folder.
I really need to get this problem fixed since I'm a Commercial Photographer always being pressed for product. Could anyone tell me where to locate the Preferences file in Windows Vista for Lightroom 1.3.1?
    Thanks a bunch everyone,

  • Lightroom 5.4 64-bit crashes when switching to develop module (and during random other functions)

This seems to be a new issue that has developed over the past few days. I have been using Lightroom for multiple years without too many issues. Within the last 90 days I have upgraded to Lightroom 5. Today, upon loading up Lightroom (either 3.6 or 5.2) they both crash upon switching over to the develop module. I have upgraded 5.2 to 5.4, uninstalled 3.6, restarted my computer; still crashes with error message: "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Which upon clicking "Close Program" it simply closes the program. Any ideas as to why this is happening and a possible fix? • Lightroom 4 contact sheet print crashes with over 12 images - Please help.

Lightroom 4 consistently crashes every time I attempt to print a contact sheet containing over 12 images. Any less and the task is completed without error, any more and it inevitably crashes. Any thoughts?
My workaround has been to export the images and create large contact sheets in Photoshop CS6, but this takes twice as long.
This is a daily task and is significantly disrupting my workflow. Please help.
    Regards,
    Eliot

So, I had this problem tonight after experiencing no problems with Lightroom 4 previously. I noticed that in the print dialog box, where you can select to print "all" the pages or a page range, the page range radial was highlighted and the defined page range was "7" to "7". I was only printing one image so I changed the print range to "1" to "1". And it did the trick. Crazy, eh?

  • Can neither install nor uninstall Lightroom 5.7 after a crash. Win7-64bit

Yesterday I downloaded and ran the Lightroom 5.7 installer but my machine crashed during the install. After that I could not run the installer again, just got an error saying "Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.". I then tried to uninstall it from Control Panel but that also says the same thing. I tried to manually remove it and re-run installer but still the same thing.
Next I logged on to this site and ran the Creative Cloud, the updater there also gets me an error as below:

What should I do to get rid of Lightroom so I can install the 5.7 version?
(I tried using the chat support but as soon as the representative start chatting I get a message saying the chat is closed and I can no longer send anything.)

    Hi Jeff,
    Thank you for your reply.
No, I am not using Windows. I’m using Yosemite 10.10.2 on a MacBook Pro.
I ended up trashing (There was no “Uninstall" option) my old Lightroom (which was 5.7), reinstalling Lightroom 5 and then upgrading it to 5.7. Now seem to be working alright.
I uninstalled Creative Cloud 6 and went back to using CS5, using Lightroom to render the files, since I can’t use the latest Camera Raw versions with CS5, so I could work on them in Photoshop. Not an ideal solution. I wouldn’t mind upgrading to CC6 but not if it messes up everything else.
Quite honestly, I don’t understand why an Adobe user should have to depend on other Adobe customers for answers about Adobe problems. Adobe should have a strong customer support group to handle these problems, particularly when they are caused by Adobe. I have been an Adobe customer for at least 10 years. I like the products but the customer support needs to be improved. Apple does a better job.

  • Lightroom 6 (standalone) & Application manager crash on startup (Mac)

    Hi All,
I bought LR6 (perpetual licence, upgrade from LR5) yesterday and installed it flawlessly on my iMac Retina.
Since it's allowed to have it installed on 2 machines - though not running it at the same time - I tried to install it as well on my MacBook Pro Retina (2012) and........
The first time LR opened on my laptop, it managed to create a new catalog. Cool. Then...
When I closed and try to reopen LR multiple times, it crashed on startup.
I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and it wouldn't open any catalog or create a new one.
Crash happens before LR opens, so I have no way to update to latest version that's supposed to fix startup issues
More interesting: after reinstalling again, even the Adobe Application Manager wouldn't launch. Says that it doesn't have writing permissions to folder Library/Application Support/Adobe
This folder contains 3 sub-folders: AAMUpdater, Lightroom and OOBE. Dunno if something is missing there.
I checked the folder permissions in the Finder (they were correctly set, as I obviously am the admin of my computer) & ran the disk utility twice to check & repair permissions. No change.
I also extensively read this existing thread (Lightroom CC crashes) and this link (Lightroom doesn't launch or closes automatically after splash screen), but none of them worked for me.
LR5 is still installed and works fine.
OS is Yosemite 10.10.3 and all updates done.
Can any of you kindly help me with this?
Thanks a lot for your support!

Can you check to see if you're running the latest update of AE?
I'm assuming from your information that you can start the program, and see the AE workspace - but then if you try to create a project or anything it crashes? Is that correct? or are you not even getting the workspace?
Have you tried starting AE with ALL other applications closed? (make sure there is no conflict with anything else)
Did you install any third-party plugins?
