Liking a calendar to a date bind variable

I have created a report using Portal application component. I also have created a calendar component
The report has a date field which is a bind variable. I want to link this bind variable to a calendar so that I can pick up date values from a calendar.
1. Is there a way I can link the bind variable to a calendar component ?
2. If not can I link the bind variable to a javascript component.

Thanks for your help.
My question though is the bind variable in this case the calendar date is going to be part of where clause
e.g.
select sum(invoice_amount)
from ssi_invoice
where invoice_date =: my_date
How do I link this my_date bind variable into the calendar based on what you have explained?
So basically user would have to select date from calendar before running report.
(Also need to ensure that this value selected is returned back in my_date)

  • User Report data bind variable problems

    Hello,
    I am trying to build a simple report in SQLDeveloper, using a DATE bind variable. But it fails with the error message:
    Inconsistent datatype, expected DATE got NUMBER
    SELECT * FROM FLOW_COMP_REC_SUMMARY_RU
    where create_date = trunc(:TARGET_DATE)
    and type = 'D'
    ORDER BY MESSAGE_FLOW_ID
    Running this query in SQLDeveloper worksheet executes properly after a dialog box pops up and I enter: current_date - 1
    SELECT * FROM FLOW_COMP_REC_SUMMARY_RU
    where create_date = trunc(&TARGET_DATE)
    and type = 'D'
    ORDER BY MESSAGE_FLOW_ID
    I've searched but no clear solutions present themselves. If you have one it would be most appreciated.
    Thanks

    You'll have to convert the input to date yourself:
    SELECT * FROM FLOW_COMP_REC_SUMMARY_RU
    where create_date = TO_DATE(:TARGET_DATE, 'DD/MM/YYYY')
    and type = 'D'
    ORDER BY MESSAGE_FLOW_ID
    Have fun,
    K.

  • Problems with Date bind variable

    I'm trying to use a Date as a bind variable in a View Object, and I'm running into difficulties. I've got the bind variable type set to date, and the control hints for Format Type and Format set to "Simple Date" and "yyyy-MM-dd" respectively. When I run the application module test and enter the date in the correct format, the View Object returns the expected results. However, when I try to set a Query Bind Parameters property for a JHeadstart group in my application definition in order to set the bind variable's value from an dateField input control, I get the following exception:

    at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:595)
    However, it seems that the value of the bind parameter did in fact change, according to the debug message issued by the JhsApplicationModuleImpl.applyBindParams(...) procedure:
    30-Jan 08:46:23 DEBUG (JhsApplicationModuleImpl) -ViewObject ViewObj: value of bind param move_date has changed: old value=null ,new value=Wed Jan 07 00:00:00 CST 2009
    One thing I have noticed that may be of interest - if I run the debugger into the JhsApplicationModuleImpl.applyBindParams(...) procedure, a default date in my bind variable shows up as an oracle.jbo.domain.Date object when it comes out of the following line:
    Object oldValue = vo.ensureVariableManager().getVariableValue(key);
    as opposed to the new value that gets sent from the input value of the dateField control, which shows up as a java.util.Date in the following line:
    Object value = args.get(key);
    In the string of functions leading up to the following in the stack trace:
                   at java.sql.Date.valueOf(Date.java:104)
    at oracle.jbo.domain.Date.toDate(Date.java:348)
    at oracle.jbo.domain.Date.<init>(Date.java:279)
    it looks like the value of the java.util.Date is converted to a string, then passed to these functions to be turned into a java.sql.Date object. However, according to the java.sql.Date.valueOf(...) function, it's expecting date in "yyyy-mm-dd" format, per the header comments:
    * Converts a string in JDBC date escape format to
    * a <code>Date</code> value.
    * @param s a <code>String</code> object representing a date in
    * in the format "yyyy-mm-dd"
    * @return a <code>java.sql.Date</code> object representing the
    * given date
    * @throws IllegalArgumentException if the date given is not in the
    * JDBC date escape format (yyyy-mm-dd)
    When the input value from the dateField input control is added as a java.util.Date, the toString() is producing the wrong date format, which could be seen in the debug output I included above that said the bind variable has changed.
    Has anyone done this before that can let me know what I am missing and how to fix this? I've search all over the web, and all the articles I've seen relating to bind variables only refer to those of numeric or string types, which aren't giving me any trouble. Even the Developer's Guide (http://database.in2p3.fr/doc/oracle/Oracle_Application_Server_10_Release_3/web.1013/b25947/bcquerying009.htm) article "5.9 Using Named Bind Variables" doesn't reference using a Date type.

    I had the same problem about a year ago (using JHeadstart 10.1.3.2.52):
    15-feb 14:10:31 DEBUG (JhsApplicationModuleImpl) -Search item matches query bind param SubjectenKernPeildatum, value set to 2000-01-01
    15-feb 14:10:33 DEBUG (JhsApplicationModuleImpl) -Executing applyBindParams for BasServiceKern.AdresRollenSubjecten
    15-feb 14:10:33 DEBUG (JhsApplicationModuleImpl) -ViewObject AdresRollenSubjecten: value of bind param peildatum has changed: old value=null ,new value=Sat Jan 01 00:00:00 CET 2000
    15-feb 14:10:33 ERROR (ErrorReportingUtils) -java.lang.IllegalArgumentException
    at java.sql.Date.valueOf(Date.java:104)
    at oracle.jbo.domain.Date.toDate(Date.java:348)
    It appears a java.util.Date gets put on the criteria Map in the searchBean, this can't be used as input for a jbo.Date bindvariable.
    My ugly solution was to override public void applyBindParams(String voUsage,HashMap args)
    in MyProjectApplicationModuleImp (which extends JhsApplicationModuleImpl of course),
    check if value is a java.util.Date, and then
    value = new java.sql.Date(((java.util.Date)value).getTime());

    how to declare a bind variable with 'date' data type in command prompt?
    sql>variable q date;

    Hi,
    As Lokanath said, there are no DATE bind variables.
    You can use a VARCHAR2 bind variable, and convert it to a DATE in your SQL statment.
    If you're using SQL*Plus, consider a substitution variable. It won't be as efficient as a bind variable, but it will be as convenient.
    For example:
    DEFINE  first_entrry_date = "DATE '2010-06-20''
    SELECT   ...
    WHERE   entry_date >= &first_entry_date
    {code}

    I think in this case you would have to take an approach like this:
    alter session set set create_stored_outlines=true;
    run your sql-statement (with a date bind variable), using anonymous plsql block.
    alter session set create_stored_outlines=false;
    Not sure though. It's been a while since I played around with outlines.

  • How to Dene a Data Link Between Queries: Bind Variables

    This is an interesting topic and I cannot get it to work using Bind Variables.
    I have 2 queries: Q1 and Q2. Q2 needs c_id, account_code and account_type from Q1.

  • How do I use the Session State to manage bind variables & download xml data

    I have a Report Query with more than 30 queries; many have bind variables in them. I'd like to create sample xml so that I can develop my word templates. When I try to download the XML data Source for Layout, it doesn't ask for the bind variable values.
    How can I download the XML data without replacing the bind variable values in each of the queries?
    Thank you.

    If you are using the Standalone version, then first of all make sure to UNCHECK (BIP10g 10.1.3.4.1)
    "AUTO RUN" (it is under General Settings when you select your Report Definition)
    Next, you should define the parameters in the corresponding parameter Section.
    Its simplest form is of "Text" type so you will have to enter values at runtime.
    Then these parameters can be used in your query as bind variables.
    When you run the report it will prompt for parameter values. Enter these values
    and you would get a sample of your XML data.
    This should work and you should not find any issues.
    regards
    Jorge

    "What do you mean by 'Obviously my bind variable never gets updated' - are the sub queries not getting the trans_id from the first query ?"
    yes, that would appear to be the case. It only gets one value of the transid. To put it in a better perspective, I'll compare it to the Employee example in the user's guide. My Depts would all come out fine. But Dept 10, 20, etc would all show the employee data for dept 10 only.

  • Csv no data found when using bind variables

    Hi,
    I have created a report, that uses 2 date variables to limit the query and rows display as they should. But clicking the csv link opens csv having one row stating 'No data found...'. If I set static values in place of variables, I get the right result. How could I use bind variables and get the right answer in csv (without coding my own function)?
    Kaja

    I am having the same problem.
    The export link opens a new session without submitting the current page. The page item values are therefor not saved to cache before the export is undertaken.
    Any report using page item bind variables in the where clause will not export correctly as the bind values are either null or those of the previous page submit.
    Any ideas on how to get round this??

  • Report Query returning "No Data Found" with bind variables

    I put a simple query into Report Query:
    Select "bluefish". "name" as "name",
    "bluefish"."primary_flag" as "primary_flag",
    "bluefish"."status" as "status",
    "bluefish"."ID" as "ID" from "bluefish" "bluefish" where "bluefish"."ID" = :P3_XPRINTID
    When I test the query, data is returned; however, when I try to run the query using "Test Report" button, I get an error 01403 No Data Found. If I replace the bind variable with an explicit value, the report works.
    Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this problem? I am using the Generic Report Layout, with various output types. I AM editting the query and defining the bind variable before I test the report (otherwise, the query wouldn't run).
    Charles

    Sometimes if you create a form/report/whatever using the wizards, it will create an After Submit process called something like Reset Page - basically you want to make sure you don't have any After Submit processes that call a Clear Session state (it may say something like Clear Cache for Page).
    In your branch, there is also a box that says Clear Cache - you want to make sure that does not have page Number 8 in it or it will clear your session state.
    Put the page in Debug mode and read through it - check to make sure your value is getting saved and maybe you can see what is going wrong.

    Hi,
    There are rules using names in SQL. I think you could use dynamic SQL to achieve the goal in your case. It is not clear for me what are you going to do. Moreover bind variable are difficult to use some times.
    You could start with something simple as a report and a form.

    How ever after assigning the customer id to bind variable but still it is not showing on jsf page,even we refreshed the data control manually with the help of java code so kindly provide some solution for it.

    Hi,
    If i got your post correctly,you can filter your VO using defining view criteria see following samples

  • Calendar prompt for Date variable from bex

    Hi All,
    I have a Bex query where I have a variable on 0CALDAY
    - Customer exit (i_step = 1 to populate with current date)
    - Single value
    - Mandatory
    I created universe on this query and in webI selection screen i do see the variable prompt.
    I am not able to see the current date populated automatically since exit values are not populated to WebI at runtime.
    My problem is that in WebI selection screen we get list of date values from the info provider instead of Calendar prompt
    where user can enter the values directly.
    I am currently on BO XI 3.1 SP3.
    Is there any specific setting in Universe or bex query which is required to get this Calendar prompt instead of list of values for dates?
    Note: When we were on SP1 the universe created then had same variable from bex and it still shows us Calendar prompt but ever since we upgraded to SP3 for the query splitter functionality we not able to get the calendar prompt for date variable in new universe we create
    Thanks
    Ritesh

    Yep.
    Now tell me how you want to show that Prompt @ WebI report level.
    My problem is that in WebI selection screen we get list of date values from the info provider instead of Calendar prompt
    where user can enter the values directly. Exactly, i didn't get this??
    @Prompt:
    You have flexibility to show options like:
    Mono/Multi: User can select Single value or Multiple.
    BW Variable: Same we have (Single/Multiple)
    Free/Constrained: User can Enter his/her value directly or No change option.
    BW Variable: By defalut you will get this, once you made it to Optional input.
    Persistent/Not_Persistent: Refreshed report has to show last selected value means use Persistent otherwise Not_P.
    By seeing the Prompt syntax , I can say your Variable is after Customer Exit, Correct??
    Workaround for your Problem is:
    <FILTER KEY="ZV_DATE"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Date (Previous Day)','A','Date\LovDate (Previous Day)Base',mono,primary_key)"/></CONDITION></FILTER>
    You have to remove that Date class and objects from prompt syntax. Because of that it showing up LOV's not calendar.
    Like:
    <FILTER KEY="ZV_DATE"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="@Prompt('Date (Previous Day)','A',',mono,primary_key)"/></CONDITION></FILTER>
    Why, It should be blank??
    Because Date needs no class\object to show up, by default you will get Calendar on the fly.
    Hope you got my point.
    Thank You!!

  • I want to remove bind variables in my data like & and many

    I have a field that holds description of a code and this is having bind variables (special characters). I need to remove them and replace with no value.
    I was trying with following sql and the dialog box (Enter Substitution Variable)is opening when I tried to execute the sql.
    select regexp_replace('B VOC AC & HEATING (*[[:punct:]])', '') from dual;
    please provide me the SQL how to do this
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    It looks like your question is about Substitution Variables, that typically look like &start_date or &1.  Bind Variables are completely different.
    By default, SQL*Plus, and some other front ends, expect that & will be followed by a substitution variable name.  If you're not using substitution variables, and you want to treat & as a normal character, then use Pablolee's suggestion.  SET DEFINE OFF will make SQL*Plus treat & as a normal character until you end the SQL*Plus session, or you explicitly cancel it by saying SET DEFINE ON.
    By the way, did you mean to call REGEXP_REPLACE with 2 arguments, like you posted
    select regexp_replace('B VOC AC & HEATING (*[[:punct:]])', '') from dual;
    or with 3 arguments, something like this
    select  regexp_replace ( 'B VOC AC & HEATING'
                           , '(*[[:punct:]])'    -- Round parentheses, '(' and ')', are not doing anything in this case
                           , ''                  -- NULL might be clearer
    from    dual;
    ?  Also, '*' in a regular expression p
    attern, means "the last item can occur 0 or more times".  In your code, there isn't any "last item" before the '*',  What are you trying to do?  Post some sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements) for a few different sample cases, and the results you want from that sample data.

    I would like to initialize a bind variable with current date -7 days
    I saw the post regarding this request but it was for jdev11 and the solution doesn't work in jdev10.
    Have you any idea to do that in jdev10
    Thanks.

    It's the same problem discussed in this post : current date as default date
