User Report data bind variable problems

Hello,
I am trying to build a simple report in SQLDeveloper, using a DATE bind variable. But it fails with the error message:
Inconsistent datatype, expected DATE got NUMBER
SELECT * FROM FLOW_COMP_REC_SUMMARY_RU
where create_date = trunc(:TARGET_DATE)
and type = 'D'
ORDER BY MESSAGE_FLOW_ID
Running this query in SQLDeveloper worksheet executes properly after a dialog box pops up and I enter: current_date - 1
SELECT * FROM FLOW_COMP_REC_SUMMARY_RU
where create_date = trunc(&TARGET_DATE)
and type = 'D'
ORDER BY MESSAGE_FLOW_ID
I've searched but no clear solutions present themselves. If you have one it would be most appreciated.
Thanks

You'll have to convert the input to date yourself:
SELECT * FROM FLOW_COMP_REC_SUMMARY_RU
where create_date = TO_DATE(:TARGET_DATE, 'DD/MM/YYYY')
and type = 'D'
ORDER BY MESSAGE_FLOW_ID
Have fun,
K.

  • Report data binding error unknown column name

    Hi,
    I am having a problem with the new 7.02 update of Report
    Builder. The issue is it's not finding my SQL query.
    I have wrote my query initally in the advance mode, and it
    doesn't seem to reconize it. Is there an issue with this?
    I did manage to fix one of my reports by using the basic mode
    and selecting all my tables and seting my linkage and criteria.
    I have other computers that i have not updated to 7.02 and
    they do not have this issue. Below is the error:

    Please try the following:
    Check the ColdFusion documentation to verify that you are

    This report works in 7.01. So all query variables match with
    a variable in the SQL select statement.
    Anyone have any Ideas??
    Thanks,
    Daniel

    Thank you very much for help.
    The "Unknown column name " is a field still used in my
    report, so I can't remove it.
    After I clear the query in the report and reopen the report
    and apply the same query back to it, I get different error message:
    Element TASKNUM is undefined in QUERY.
    The error occurred in : line 1
    -1 : Unable to display error's location in a CFML template.
    I know for sure this "Element TASKNUM is undefined in QUERY."
    is defined in query. each time it complains something different. I
    get really confused.
    Thanks again.

  • Report data binding error

    I have created a banded report split into departments. Each
    recore has a value associated with it. The report runs fine if I
    dont try to sub-total each departments vale, but if I add a
    calculated field to the banding, I get the following error:
    Report data binding error Error evaluating expression :
    textField_2 Source text : calc.Department_Total.
    Variable calc.Department_Total is undefined.
    The calculated field is simply the sum of the values, with an
    initial value of 0 and set to reset when the group changes on the
    department. I am using the same data type for the calc field as it
    automatically gave for the original Value field (Big Decimal)
    Any ideas?
    Dave H

    Does anyone have any ideas about this, Its getting a bit
    critical now. Has anyone else been able to do sums that calculate
    on group changes?? The sum total works for the report, jusyt not
    the bands. I desparate here, pulling my hair out.

  • Report data binding error with date values

    I have CF7.02 with a Microsoft Visual FoxPro 9.0 SP1 Database
    that I connect to using ODBC (FoxPro Driver 6.01.8630.01). I send
    my sql results to a CF Report Builder 7.02 PDF report and it works
    fine. If I dump the date values before I change them, they look
    like the following: {ts '2004-12-20 00:00:00'} . However I have
    tried a number of ways of manipulating the date before sending it
    to the report, but I continue to get errors. I don't care what
    format they go to the report in, since the report reformats them
    anyway. I checked to make sure that none of the dates were null.
    For example <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] =
    CreateODBCDateTime(#ldCFPrcInputDate#) /> yields values in the
    {ts '2004-12-20 00:00:00'} format when I dump the query results to
    screen. Where:
    ldCFPrcInputDate = 12/20/2004
    CreateODBCDateTime(ldCFPrcInputDate) = {ts '2004-12-20
    00:00:00'}
    ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] = {ts '2004-12-20
    00:00:00'}
    I get the error:
    Report data binding error Unable to get value for field
    'prcinputdate' of class 'java.util.Date'.
    coldfusion.runtime.OleDateTime -> Date
    Not using the CreateODBCDate function for example <cfset

    get:

    Here are some of my failed attempts:

    <cfset ReportQuery.PrcInputDate[lcCurRow] = '05/07/2006'
    />
    I also did some googling without success. Any help is
    appreciated.

    You may want to make sure that the column is not included in
    the query variable list in your report cfr file.
    The newest version of the Report Builder, which may be
    installed on the server, no longer tolerates vars appearing in that
    list of they are not in the query itselft.

  • Report Data Binding Error with CFREPORT

    I'm getting this error on my production server but not my
    testing server when I try to print a report:
    Report data binding error Unknown column name :
    PK_RegistrationID.
    The thing is, the column PK_RegistrationID is not in the
    query I'm passing to the cfreport file. And it's not in the
    cfreport fiile itself. It is used in other cfreport files in my
    application. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the
    version of cfreport on the production server.

    You may want to make sure that the column is not included in

  • User defined report with bind variable

    How can I create an user defined report using a bind variable?

    We currently do not support bind variables in User Defined Reports. We are looking at adding that function before production but I can't promise.

  • Problems with Date bind variable

    I'm trying to use a Date as a bind variable in a View Object, and I'm running into difficulties. I've got the bind variable type set to date, and the control hints for Format Type and Format set to "Simple Date" and "yyyy-MM-dd" respectively. When I run the application module test and enter the date in the correct format, the View Object returns the expected results. However, when I try to set a Query Bind Parameters property for a JHeadstart group in my application definition in order to set the bind variable's value from an dateField input control, I get the following exception:

    at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:595)
    However, it seems that the value of the bind parameter did in fact change, according to the debug message issued by the JhsApplicationModuleImpl.applyBindParams(...) procedure:
    30-Jan 08:46:23 DEBUG (JhsApplicationModuleImpl) -ViewObject ViewObj: value of bind param move_date has changed: old value=null ,new value=Wed Jan 07 00:00:00 CST 2009
    One thing I have noticed that may be of interest - if I run the debugger into the JhsApplicationModuleImpl.applyBindParams(...) procedure, a default date in my bind variable shows up as an oracle.jbo.domain.Date object when it comes out of the following line:
    Object oldValue = vo.ensureVariableManager().getVariableValue(key);
    as opposed to the new value that gets sent from the input value of the dateField control, which shows up as a java.util.Date in the following line:
    Object value = args.get(key);
    In the string of functions leading up to the following in the stack trace:
                   at java.sql.Date.valueOf(Date.java:104)
    at oracle.jbo.domain.Date.toDate(Date.java:348)
    at oracle.jbo.domain.Date.<init>(Date.java:279)
    it looks like the value of the java.util.Date is converted to a string, then passed to these functions to be turned into a java.sql.Date object. However, according to the java.sql.Date.valueOf(...) function, it's expecting date in "yyyy-mm-dd" format, per the header comments:
    * Converts a string in JDBC date escape format to
    * a <code>Date</code> value.
    * @param s a <code>String</code> object representing a date in
    * in the format "yyyy-mm-dd"
    * @return a <code>java.sql.Date</code> object representing the
    * given date
    * @throws IllegalArgumentException if the date given is not in the
    * JDBC date escape format (yyyy-mm-dd)
    When the input value from the dateField input control is added as a java.util.Date, the toString() is producing the wrong date format, which could be seen in the debug output I included above that said the bind variable has changed.
    Has anyone done this before that can let me know what I am missing and how to fix this? I've search all over the web, and all the articles I've seen relating to bind variables only refer to those of numeric or string types, which aren't giving me any trouble. Even the Developer's Guide (http://database.in2p3.fr/doc/oracle/Oracle_Application_Server_10_Release_3/web.1013/b25947/bcquerying009.htm) article "5.9 Using Named Bind Variables" doesn't reference using a Date type.

    I had the same problem about a year ago (using JHeadstart 10.1.3.2.52):
    15-feb 14:10:31 DEBUG (JhsApplicationModuleImpl) -Search item matches query bind param SubjectenKernPeildatum, value set to 2000-01-01
    15-feb 14:10:33 DEBUG (JhsApplicationModuleImpl) -Executing applyBindParams for BasServiceKern.AdresRollenSubjecten
    15-feb 14:10:33 DEBUG (JhsApplicationModuleImpl) -ViewObject AdresRollenSubjecten: value of bind param peildatum has changed: old value=null ,new value=Sat Jan 01 00:00:00 CET 2000
    15-feb 14:10:33 ERROR (ErrorReportingUtils) -java.lang.IllegalArgumentException
    at java.sql.Date.valueOf(Date.java:104)
    at oracle.jbo.domain.Date.toDate(Date.java:348)
    It appears a java.util.Date gets put on the criteria Map in the searchBean, this can't be used as input for a jbo.Date bindvariable.
    My ugly solution was to override public void applyBindParams(String voUsage,HashMap args)
    in MyProjectApplicationModuleImp (which extends JhsApplicationModuleImpl of course),
    check if value is a java.util.Date, and then
    value = new java.sql.Date(((java.util.Date)value).getTime());

  • Liking a calendar to a date bind variable

    I have created a report using Portal application component. I also have created a calendar component
    The report has a date field which is a bind variable. I want to link this bind variable to a calendar so that I can pick up date values from a calendar.
    1. Is there a way I can link the bind variable to a calendar component ?
    2. If not can I link the bind variable to a javascript component.

    Thanks for your help.
    My question though is the bind variable in this case the calendar date is going to be part of where clause
    e.g.
    select sum(invoice_amount)
    from ssi_invoice
    where invoice_date =: my_date
    How do I link this my_date bind variable into the calendar based on what you have explained?
    So basically user would have to select date from calendar before running report.
    (Also need to ensure that this value selected is returned back in my_date)

  • Report with bind variables

    Hi,
    I apologize in advance for the newbie question.
    I would like to create a report report_b with a "vertical report exclude null values" template which will show only one record. This report will be called from another report with a default template or perhaps an interactive report - report_a.
    The order of actions is:
    A user logs in queries report_a and gets a result of a few rows.
    She presses the link column of a specific record with id 123 in the report and report_b is called displaying the relevant information of id 123.
    I haven't been able to figure out how to use bind variables to achieve this.
    The use case is: I have a table with dozens of columns. Both reports are based on the same table but report_a only displays 3-4 columns to allow the user to figure out which row he wants to see and then she gets to see all its columns in report_b.
    Many thanks,
    ~ronen

    At a very high level, this is what needs to happen:
    Let us say report_a is on Page 10 (P10), and report_b is on P11.
    When the user clicks a link on a column in report_a on P10, this should a hidden item on P11 (say P11_ID).
    When P11 is displayed, the SQL would use the value stored in P11_ID. For example, Select col1, col2, col3 from table_a where id = :P11_ID.
    If you need more and specific example, please let us know.

  • Bind variable problem in a procedure

    Hi,
    Is there any way I can pass a parameter in a procedure as we do in sql plus (for example where date = &date).
    I have a procedure that is somewhat similar to this...
    select (field 1, field2...
    from table1, table 2....
    where ....
    and ..
    and v_fiscal_year (here I want the bind variable)
    UNION
    select (field 1, field2...
    from table1, table 2....
    where .....
    and ..
    and ..
    and v_fiscal_year (here I want the bind variable)
    I need to register this procedure in oracle apps as a concurrent program where a user should be able to provide value for fiscal_year and then write the file out in a text file.
    Thanks
    A/A

    What you've shown isn't a procedure, but is a query.
    I assume your "field1", "field2" within the query means that you are expecting to be able to create a dynamic SQL from parameters passed into a procedure.
    For that you will need to use DBMS_SQL package to create and execute a dynamic query or use the EXECUTE IMMEDIATE statemetn to execute a query built up in a string. Note however, that dynamic SQL is inherently bad practice and should only ever be used as a last resort. What exactly are you trying to achieve as there are likely to be better ways of doing it?

  • Child reports and bind variables

    I'm working on a user defined parent/child report. What I'm having an issue with is using a parents bind variable value in a child. To simpify my example:
    The master query is:
    select count(*), document
    from download_audit
    where activity_date > sysdate-:DAYS
    group by document
    which returns a count of downloads for each document in the last :DAYS days. I want the child report to then list the person that downloaded a selected document:
    select document, user_id, activity_date from download_audit
    where activity_date > sysdate - :DAYS
    and document=:DOCUMENT
    This does not work because the initial :DAYS bind isn't sent to the child.
    If I add the :DAYS as a selected column to the master sql it works. e.g.
    select count(*), document, :DAYS days
    from download_audit
    where activity_date > sysdate-:DAYS
    group by document
    My question is, do child bind variables all have to be selected columns in the master query or is there a way to have a "global" bind variable that gets carried from master to child?

    I agree whole heartedly :)
    If you want to make things even more interesting, create some 3rd generation child reports and carry the bind variables throughout the multiple levels - here's an example

  • OBIEE Integration with ADF - Reports with bind variables

    Hi,
    I've managed to integrate obiee with ADF by following the steps described in:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-publisher/adf-bip-ucm-integration-179699.pdf
    This is all fine and all but what about reports with complex queries where bind variables are needed?
    In short I need to send specific values from ADF application as parameters to the query of the report before building it, then create it and download the file as pdf.
    I don't have problems with building the file and downloading it when the query in the report has no bind variables, but when it does I do not know how to send them to the report.
    I can't seem to find such an implementation or example anywhere and I am stuck.
    Could anyone please point me in the right direction, eighter by providing a solution, or a link to such an example?
    Thank you!
    P.S.
    I'm using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0 and JDeveloper 11.1.2.1.0

  • Report Using Bind Variables

    Hey Everyone,
    I'm having a bit of trouble creating a report. I need the FROM part of the code to use bind variables. I have come up with this peice of code below but im getting the following error:
    failed to parse SQL query:
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 8:
    PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "" when expecting one of the following:
    begin function package pragma procedure subtype type use
    form
    current cursor
    The symbol "" was ignored.
    ORA-06550: line 2, column 24:
    PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "" when expecting one of the following:
    begin function package pragma procedure subtype type use
    form
    current
    Can anyone see where im going wrong?
    Thanks in advance,

    Code*
    DECLARE
    x VARCHAR2 (4000);
    BEGIN
    x := x || 'select *';
    x := x || 'from ';
    x := x || :p13_schema;
    x := x || '.ddl_log@';
    x := x || :p13_db_name;
    x := x || '_DBAAPEX.TNTEWW.COM';
    RETURN (x);
    END;

    Hey Roel and Daylocks,
    After getting frustrated for a while i deleted the page and started again. I put in the exact same code and it worked just how i wanted in the first place :S
    The only thing i did different is when i was creating the report region the first time around i used a normal SQL query, For Example:
    select sysdate from dual;
    Then i modified it to
    DECLARE
    x VARCHAR2 (4000);
    BEGIN
    x := x || 'select ';*
    x := x || 'from ';
    x := x || :p14_schema;
    x := x || '.ddl_log@';
    x := x || :p14_db_name;
    x := x || '_DBAAPEX.TNTEWW.COM';
    RETURN (x);
    END;
    Whereas on the second attempt i used the peice of code in question straight away. Its been a bit of a frustrating morning because i used a similar peice of code for a different application, nevermind tho :)
    Thanks for your replys, much appreciated.
