Limit to how much characters we can concatenate?

HI is there a limit to how much characters we can concatenate using concatenation operator in Pl/SQL?
i have following piece of code
FETCH mm_comp_cursor INTO mm_comp_rec;
                    WHILE(mm_comp_cursor%FOUND)
                    LOOP
                    lv_count:=length(lv_sql1);
                             lv_sql1:=lv_sql1||' UNION ';
lv_sql1:=lv_sql1||' SELECT company_id FROM company WHERE active_status_id=''A'' CONNECT BY PRIOR company_id=parent_company_id START WITH company_id='
                                     ||mm_comp_rec.tc_id;
                    FETCH mm_comp_cursor INTO mm_comp_rec;
END LOOP;               the variablelv_sql becomes undeclared after lv_count crosses 1000 .
is there a way to overcome this?
please help.
Thanks

Is there a limit to how much text I can put in the scrolling sidebar widget in iBooks author? I have recently tried putting about 3,500 words into a scrolling sidebar widget, and I can't seem to get all of the text into the widget. Thoughts? ideas?

There are button limits in the DVD spec (not just Encore).
    DVD, 4:3 menu = 36 buttons
    DVD, 16:9 menu = 18 buttons

  • Size limit for how much video can be included in an AIR file?

I'm making an AIR app to play a video locally.  It is on a PC with no internet connection, so the video (fv4) is  included with the air install file.  Is there a size limit for how much  video can be included in an AIR file? I seem to get the "...file is  damaged..." error when I include a video over 200mb. I use Flash CS4 to  create and AIR is v 1.53.

I'm authoring in CS4 on a MAC with the latest OS and 4GB ram.  It plays fine on the Mac.  On a WIN7 PC with all updates and 4GB ram I get the errors if the air file that contains a video file over 200mb.  I heard that AIR 2 should solve the issue and that it is just a PC issue.. Maybe...   I have not tried using ADT to package the file.

  • Is there a limit to how "long" a portlet can be?

Have created a spiffy portlet with a country map at the top, and a long text list (from the CIA's public databank) beneath it of details and statistics of geography, economy, language, business, etc. Above the map are internal hyperlinks to jump down to any of the 8 text regions below.
The portlet previews beautifully as either a Page or an html portlet to add to a region.
However, when hit Apply, and go to view the completed page/portlet, the text is truncated partway down. Go back to view the html, and it's just GONE past that point. Have tried a number of workarounds, no joy.
Is there a limit to how much data, or how many lines, a portlet can have in it??
    TIA!
    Sheri
    Oracle 9iAS rel 1, ver 3.09

    I've seen something like this.
When I add a huge HTML portlet I get a false error message when I try to apply it. It's sure that the error message is false, cause I tried it with very simple code as well(i.e. lot of comment lines can effect this problem as well).
So I think it is very possible that it has a line or character limit for a portlet. 8-(

  • How much video footage can be in movie for Best Quality

I made an IMovie with about 1 hour of video and exported it to IDVD.  I added a slideshow with about 150 photos and music - about 15 minutes long.  When I went to burn it to a DVD - it would not allow best quality.  Why?
Is there a limit to how much video can be procesed as Best Quality?

    iDVD encoding settings:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/11417.html
    Short version:
Best Performance is for videos of up to 60 minutes
Best Quality is for videos of up to 120 minutes
Professional Quality is also for up to 120 minutes but even higher quality (and takes much longer)
That was for single-layer DVDs. Double these numbers for dual-layer DVDs.
Professional Quality: The Professional Quality option uses advanced technology to encode your video, resulting in the best quality of video possible on your burned DVD. You can select this option regardless of your project’s duration (up to 2 hours of video for a single-layer disc and 4 hours for a double-layer disc). Because Professional Quality encoding is time-consuming (requiring about twice as much time to encode a project as the High Quality option, for example) choose it only if you are not concerned abo
In both cases the maximum length includes titles, transitions and effects etc. Allow about 15 minutes for these.
You can use the amount of video in your project as a rough determination of which method to choose. If your project has an hour or less of video (for a single-layer disc), choose Best Performance. If it has between 1 and 2 hours of video (for a single-layer disc), choose High Quality. If you want the best possible encoding quality for projects that are up to 2 hours (for a single-layer disc), choose Professional Quality. This option takes about twice as long as the High Quality option, so select it only if time is not an issue for you.
Use the Capacity meter in the Project Info window (choose Project > Project Info) to determine how many minutes of video your project contains.
NOTE: With the Best Performance setting, you can turn background encoding off by choosing Advanced > “Encode in Background.” The checkmark is removed to show it’s no longer selected. Turning off background encoding can help performance if your system seems sluggish.
And whilst checking these settings in iDVD Preferences, make sure that the settings for NTSC/PAL and DV/DV Widescreen are also what you want.

I have a lion server set up to host storage for time machine backups. Is there a limit to how many different computers can back up to the single server to back up. I am only backing up the users folders . The backup drive is an external Drobo with 6 TB. Right now it seems to back up my users all day long. I set their time machine interval to every 5 hours but it still runs all day long and is very slow. Server is on a new Mac Server mini.

AFAIK, there is no user limit.. it is simply a question of the network load. AFP is a fairly clean protocol.. but TM is not.. it does a lot of testing of the backup.. infact your setting of 5hour gap could well make it worse.
I would sort out the clients that are doing 100GB backups to a different backup location.. no matter how fast your network.. 100GB takes time to backup.. and over wireless forever.. it will never end.
I guess some of these clients are on wireless?? I would separate the TM of wireless to those that are wired. No more than 4 or 5 wireless clients to a target device. Otherwise you are saturating your network with backup data. And use 5ghz.. so close by.. it is much faster than 2.4ghz and you will get much better transfer rates.

  • Is there a limit on how many times I can install my CS5?

I own CS5 and have it installed on 2 computers. I need to upgrade my computers and am wondering if I am going to have any trouble installing CS5 onto new machines. Is there a limit on how many times I can install the program? Do I have to verify ownership first or what?

I believe the limit on how any times an application can be installed has been removed, but, as it stands, there is no limit to the number of installations you can have... just the number of activated installations.  For what it sounds like you are doing, there is should not be an issue of hitting a limit even if there is one.
If you are reinstalling on new machines then you probably want to deactivate the current installations before you attempt to activate on the new machines.

  • How much storage units can be added in the single bin.

    Hi all,
Can anybody tell me how much storage units can be added in the single bin.
    Dev

    Hi Dev,
AS Prashant & Abhijit mentioned above the maximum storage units in a single bin is based on various factors such the putaway strategy & capacity check you have set for your storage type as well as palletization data.
Now in case of Bulk Storage which you have mentioned above, please go through the below F1 help for the block structure.
In bulk storage, you need to define for each block (or row) how many
storage units fit into the block.  For this purpose, you must define
both the number of columns as well as the maximum stack height.  *The*
product of these factors usually gives the maximum number of storage
+units and is determined automatically by the system.  However, it is+
possible to change the maximum number of storage units to a lower number
if the storage bin or the material features require this.
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks & Regards,

Want to upgrade RAC 10.2.0.2 database (2 instances) to 10.2.0.5. DB size is 4 TB. Contains mostly .pdf files, reports. I do not have test/upgrade environment. How much time I can expect it will take?
How much the upgrade process depends of database size, in this case?
    I have fast boxes  IBM AIX 5.3 , 64 b.

    Appreciate your comments ...
Yes, sound stupid, regarding test environment, but in reality, is not that much:
-I do have "preprod" environment, (2 instances RAC) same releases of OS, OCW,RAC ... but DB size is 40 GB!!!  It has all the objects as production, but (again but) it does not have physical standby, as production has. This is not that unusual, knowing that production DB grows very fast, and very large, and business do not want to keep preprod, dev, test databases same HUGE size as production is. Savings ...
-My DB upgrade depends if application  running on top of it is certified for higher RDBMS release ... looks like they have some problems.
-Very encouraging sounds comment that DB upgrade does not depend that much of the DB size ...
    - i do not recall from where this info came, but I have heard that R 11.* treats PDF files in different way that R10 did it ... and because of that, process of upgrading big databases which have many items of that type (pdf) can take very long. Any idea about this?
-Brian, thx ... I'm trying hard to provide DB simmilar size in UPG environment and face all possible pitfalls before I go in production...thx for youe advice. I'm relly interested in how upgrade to 11.* from 10.* traets my pdf-s ... All my TBs comming from pdfs. Everi advice will be wellcome ...

  • Is there a limit to how many times u can restore itunes from DVD-R?

I have had to restore my whole itunes library twice this week due to hard drive probs. Do DVD-R's have a limit to how many times u can restore from them, or does itunes itself have a limit to how many times u can restore. Should I start over, with whole new back-up onto new DVD-R's?
    Thanks
    Tracy

You shouldn't have to. DVD-Rs are supposed to be good for about 50 years or so...

  • Is there a limit to how many Podcasts you can post to iTunes

I've been trying to post our most recent podcast to iTunes, and I haven't been able to. I've checked everything over and over and tried to repost, and have not been able to. I'm wondering if iTunes has a limit to how many podcasts you can post. Currently there are 83 podcasts that we' ve put up to iTunes. Each one is about 5-6 MB in size.
Does anyone know if I've reached my max and need to remove old podcasts to make space for the new one?
    thanks. collintowne

Thanks for the info. You're right. I never thought about it. That's what the whole RSS feed is all about. Telling iTunes where to get the info it needs. So iTunes doesn't store the actual files. Got it!
I will try out that link you gave me. What I've been doing in the past to update my RSS/XML feed is just simply copy/paste the previous weeks info, update the new info, post it, and that's it. I never changed any of the information on the top part before you get to all the weekly posts. I did however for the first time attempt doing all of this on my Mac rather than use the PC that I have always done the Podcasts on and RSS feeds. So that must have caused a problem somewhere.

  • Is there a limit to how many songs you can have on the offline mode?

I am trying to get all my albums to sync with my phone and be available offline but It keeps on saying that I have selected too many tracks for the offline mode. Is there a limit to how many songs you can have? Thanks :)

Spotify applies a limit of 3,333 tracks but everything is dependent on your phones on-board memory
as Spotify actually copies the tracks to it so you don't need internet connection.
My Galaxy S2 has 11 odd GB and I filled it with 1800 tracks (albeit some were 20 - 30 mins).
Also check if you use on-board memory for photos etc. 'cos Spotify will use a lot of it.
I have asked them to look at this and maybe give warnings about Spotify's memory usage rather
    than the number of tracks.
