Limiting JMS messges to Listener Proxy

Hi all,
I'm using JMS queue for asynchronous call. The flow goes like
Client Proxy -> OSB BS (JMS) -> JMS Server -> Listener Proxy
Client Proxy might send hundreds of messges per second. The Listener Proxy will pick the messges in the same rate. But I need the JMS server to send only 10 messges per second. It has to send all the messages batchwiese as 10 requests per second.
Can someone help me on how to configure this value in JMS server?
Thanks,
Mani

Thanks Atheek.
But while going through the ConnectionFactory settings of the JMS queue created (in weblogic server), I came across a setting called "Flow Maximum" in "FlowControl" Tab under "Configuration Tab".
It has the following explanation:
The maximum number of messages-per-second allowed for a producer that is experiencing a threshold condition. When a producer is flow controlled it will never be allowed to go faster than the FlowMaximum messages per second.
If a producer is not currently limiting its flow when a threshold condition is reached, the initial flow limit for that producer is set to FlowMaximum. If a producer is already limiting its flow when a threshold condition is reached (the flow limit is less than FlowMaximum), then the producer will continue at its current flow limit until the next time the flow is evaluated.
Note: Once a threshold condition has subsided, the producer is not permitted to ignore its flow limit. If its flow limit is less than the FlowMaximum, then the producer must gradually increase its flow to the FlowMaximum each time the flow is evaluated. When the producer finally reaches the FlowMaximum, it can then ignore its flow limit and send without limiting its flow.
MBean Attribute (Does not apply to application modules) :
FlowControlParamsBean.FlowMaximum
Minimum value: 1
Maximum value: 2147483647
Will this be of any use to my requirement?

• Error Destination in JMS Transport Configuration page (Proxy Services)

Hi, Can anybody provides me the sample of Error Destination in JMS Transport Configuration page (Proxy Services) .I need to know the format. I am using "jms://<host:port[,host:port]*/factoryJndiName/destJndiName>", but it does not work.
From Oracle webstie, http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/interopjms/transport.html, the detail description of Error Destination is " In this field you can configure the name of the target destination for the messages, which have reached the maximum number of retry count. "

Can you provide the JNDI name of the error destination alone there ?

• JMS as database listener

Hi, good day to you.
I would like to know how to implement JMS as database listener, so that any CRUD process to the database will send a notification to JMS listener.
Any tutorial or articles?
Thanks.

What you call a "database listener" is, in the database world, called a "trigger".
Check the documentation for your database to see if it supports triggers (not all of them do) and what languages they can be written in.

• JMS Distributed Destinations as proxy service endpoints

We have a cluster of 2 ALSB servers with a proxy service deployed
listening on a JMS queue which is a distributed destination (DD) on a
WLS 8.1 system.
The JMS DD is spread across 4 JMS servers and 4 JVM's.
When ALSB starts up - we only get consumers on 2 of the 4 DD members,
which makes sense as a JMS proxy service is essentially an MDB, and this
is normal MDB/distributed destination behaviour - it will bind to the
queue member where it first makes the connection to the JVM.
How do I make sure my messages are consumed from all 4 DD queue members?
There is a JMS option to forward messages to queues with consumers if no
consumers exist - is that the way to do it?
Someone must have come across this before and I'd be grateful for any
advice.
Also - how do you reduce the consumers on the JMS queue - seems to
default to 16. Perhaps you don't.
Thanks,
Pete

Update: I see your exchange with Tom over on the JMS forum, Pete. We just switched everything to WLS 9.2, so maybe the ALSB internal extension will work for us. It's not working by default, so possibly it's something that must be activated... I'll follow up with BEA.
http://forums.bea.com/thread.jspa?threadID=570001317
I'd still like to hear what you end up working with, if you don't mind sharing once it's running. :)
MeghanI only have 8.1 as an option - a JMS proxy service is essentially an
MDB, and if you deploy an MDB in the same way, it will only bind to a
single destination, so it's actually behaving as I would expect.
The forward delay on the queue probably won't be an issue for us, as
we're not talking about high volumes and large messages, but for some
sites there will be alot of moving around queues, access jms filestore
etc which you could do without.
I reckon the trick is (as Tom mentioned) to bind to individual
distributed queue members from the proxy service somehow.
I'll let you know what I find out.

Either I did not get an idea, but in your JMS proxy you are routing to File :)
If you don't want file, why route to 2nd BS ?

• Want to configure jms adapter to listen two jms topics

Hi,
i want to implement an scenario where the single subscriber has to listen two topics. i have created two jms topics and pushing message into that now i want to consume the messages in two topics using single subscriber. is this is possible using JMS Adapter. any suggestions??? Kindly help...
Thanks in advance...

This is not possible.
You can associate one subscriber to one topic only. You can have multiple subscribers listening on same topic but not the reverse.

• Limiting radio interference when listening to iPhone in the car

I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this semi-problem. I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee LImited - with both a cd and tape player. I used a cassette adapater with my former iPod- worked fine. I recently purchased an iPhone and the Belkin iPhone Headphone Adapter. The adapter works fine and I can listen to the iPod feature on my iPhone. However, every once in a while I will get radio interference in my speakers.
I know I can switch to airplane mode - but that sort of defeats the purpose! Any ideas out there to get ride of the interference? Thanks!

I get this when I listen to Sirius. You can never keep the same empty station on the radio when you travel between as many cities as I do.
There is a device that was made witch basically severs the connection between the radio and the antenna on your car. The device costs about $20-$40 depending on where you get it and sales. If you have Sirius or XM you can just install that device and solve the problem for both the Sat Radio and the Belkin transmitter.
The downside to this is that you will still need to have the satelite radio turned on to stop the antenna connection.
Basically without the full length of the antenna on the car, you can only hear the loudest and clearest stations. This will leave you with hundreds of choices rather than 2 or 3.
I do not know if they make a similar device with a switch rather than relying on the satelite signal, but it could be worth a check.

• JMS Timer into a Proxy or Business

Hello,
I have a JMS Queue and I wanna know if is possible to configure a proxy or business service to read the JMS Queue time by time, for example read the Queue each 5 minutes.
Is there any option in ESB to configure as a timer to read the Queue?
Thank you!

No I don't think there is such option. However you can define a delay when you post the message, before it get consummed.

• JMS messge content?

I use golden gate JMS adapter to monitor table changes.

<col name='ID1' index='0'>

<after>2</after>
</col>
Why before is missing, how can get the value before update and after update.
Thanks

z.wang wrote:

<before missing='true'/>
<after>2</after>
Why before is missing, how can get the value before update and after update.Be sure to "capture" the "before" values in your source "extract" parameter file:

Extract eora
UserId dbuser, Password dbpass
RecoveryOptions OverwriteMode
ExtTrail dirdat/aa
GetUpdateBefores
Table GG.*;

And also you must include "befores" in the prm file for the Java user-exit, e.g.,

Extract javaue
SourceDefs dirdef/aa.def
SetEnv ( GGS_USEREXIT_CONF = "dirprm/javaue.properties" )
GetEnv (PATH)
GetEnv (LD_LIBRARY_PATH)
-- CUserExit ggjava_ue.dll CUSEREXIT PassThru IncludeUpdateBefores
CUserExit libggjava_ue.so CUSEREXIT PassThru IncludeUpdateBefores
GetUpdateBefores
Table GG.*;

You can always include these paramters to "get" the "before" values in the pump running the Java user-exit. (So, a prm file for a user-exit pump can always be basically the same.) If the prm file is as above, then if the "before" values //are// in the trail, they will be passed to the JVM running the JMS handler. If the "before" values are //not// in the trail, then the pump will still run, but (obviously) the "befores" will be "missing".

• Trouble with a JMS proxy listening to a distributed topic

Hi all,
I've setup an ALSB cluster with 1 admin instance and 2 managed instances (m01 and m02).
I've also configured 1 distributed topic A and defined the two below proxies:
- proxy P1 is a http proxy that publishes a message into the distributed topic A. The proxy uses a business service with jms protocol and endpoint uri:
jms://wasdv1r3n1.dev.b-source.net:7301,wasdv1r3n1.dev.b-source.net:7303/my.ConnectionFactory/DistributedTopicA
- proxy P2 is a JMS proxy listening to
jms://wasdv1r3n1.dev.b-source.net:7301,wasdv1r3n1.dev.b-source.net:7303/my.ConnectionFactory/DistributedTopicA
that logs the received message and writes it to file.
The strange behaviour is that on the managed m01 log file I see the message received from P2 but also on the managed m02 log file I see the message received from P2.
So I'm sending out 1 message and receiving 1 x managed that is total = 2.
This strange behaviour is also confirmed from the fact that I see on the file system 2 files and not only 1.
I thought it was a problem concerning the config of business service that publishes message into the distributed topicA; but I tried with an external 'normal' java JMS subscriber that listens to t3://wasdv1r3n1.dev.b-source.net:7301,wasdv1r3n1.dev.b-source.net:7303 and it works properly: it receives only 1 message.
I'm trying to understand where is my fault.
Do you have any idea ?
Thanks in advance
Patrizio

If you publish a message to a topic, all the proxy that subscribed to this topic will receive the message. If you want the message to be processed by only one managed server you can publish to a queue instead.

You could double-check in the JMS newsgroup, but I'm pretty sure that a statically configured listener like this would have to be in the classpath.
If possible, I'd encourage you to consider using a MDB instead. That could be in your EAR file instead.

• Make jms queue forward messages to a proxy service

Greetings!
Here's my task. I have a pretty complex proxy service that routes the message to different web services. This proxy has a conditional branch. Now, what I needed to do was implement a JMS queue and fuse it with my proxy. I have successfully created a proxy and a business service that send messages to the JMS queue. However, the queue doesn't forward the messages to my routing proxy. My guess is that when the queue tries to send the message to my proxy, it encounters a conditional branch and doesn't know which branch to use. I have tried to put a log action in the default branch to determine if the message ends up there, but it doesn't.
If anyone knows a way to forward messages from a JMS queue to a proxy with a conditional branch, please advise a solution.
Thanks in advance,
Andrew

Hello Andrew,
To communicate with JMS (either to poll JMS for dequing messages or to connect to JMS to enqueue a message), you have to use JMS transport in Oracle Service Bus.
I am still not sure if this would have worked had I left the conditional branch in my Message Flow.It will work. You may try configuring it.
Could you please be more specific as to where I can enable message tracking for my proxy service? You may enable message tracing in "Operational Settings" of a particular proxy/business service. Please refer sections "Configuring Operational Settings for Proxy Services" and "Configuring Operational Settings for Business Services" on below link to know more -
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/consolehelp/monitoring.html#wp1028056
Should it be enabled for a specific proxy service or for all of them? You may enable it for all or for a particular service. It depends on requirement.

• JMS Listener classpath and EAR files

I am trying to deploy our application using the EAR file format on Weblogic
6.0 sp2.
In order to use JMS sessionPools, we call
SessionPoolFactory.getServerSessionPool() API (which takes our JMS
Message listener class name as a string), from our startup servlet.
Can any one tell me in which classpath this listener class should be defined
? System, EJB or Web application classpath ?
I have put the relevant jar file in the EAR as well as the EAR manifest
file, but I get
weblogic.jms.common.ConfigurationException: Listener class, <class name>,
not found.
Is there any way around this (apart from putting it in the System class
path) ?
Can anyone help out here ?
Thanks.
