Line and Rectangle shapes in VS 2013

I am trying to move my VB.net application from Express 2010 to Express 2013 for Windows Desktop. I have installed the latest PowerPacks. When I run the application, the lines and rectangles appear as they should. However, in design mode I cannot
see or select them. But if I add a line or rectangle, everything is fine. There must be some little thing I am missing.

Here's some images.
I created a new app and ended up calling it Test214.
Image 1 - Dragging line shape onto form.
Image 2 - ToolBox item manager showing I have both 9 and 10 rev powerpack items available.
Image 3 - powerpacks 10 is referenced in Reference Manager.
Image 4 - Solution explorer shows reference also.
Image 5 - Ref is displayed in applications properties under references. NOTE that copy local is set to false.
Image 6 - Explorer displaying Test214's debug folder. No .DLL's are displayed.
Image 7 - Dragged copy of Test214's .exe from debug folder to desktop. Ran it. It is running below its executable and displays a powerpacks line shape.
Image 8 - Back to apps properties in references. Selected reference for powerpacks.
Image 9 - Selected properties tab. Note it displays properties for the powerpacks reference rather than a control or something on the form.
Image 10 - Copy local set to true in properties tab for powerpacks reference. Rebuilt app.
Image 11 - Powerpacks .DLL now resides in debug folder.
So if I was to now install this app in some location on my PC I should copy that .DLL to the same location since the .Net CLR searches for .DLL's in a specific way. Although that may not be necessary as I didn't have to do that when I copied the apps .exe
to my desktop then ran it. Regardless those .DLL's that a PC the app was to be installed on should be copied with the app onto that PC in the same location your .exe resides when it is installed. Or install powerpacks rev you use for your app onto
that PC. I believe either method would work.
For the majority of namespaces you would use in an app they are contained in the .Net framework rev you build your app to. So that .Net framework would normally need to be installed already onto the PC you would install your app on. Powerpacks are seperate
from .Net Framework so they either need to be installed seperately or the .DLLs you use for whatever powerpack items you use need to be copied onto that PC in your apps folder that contains its .exe. Same as if you had third party .DLL's you were using with
your app.
Why your app wouldn't run from your x86 folder is beyond me. I created a folder called "Hello" in that folder and dragged, dropped a copy of Test214.exe from its debug folder into that folder then ran it from that folder and it displayed the line
shape with no issue.

  • Vertical pinstripe yellow lines and coloured shapes

    Can anyone help,
    i have a powerpc Macmini "2004-2005" running Tiger.  I am getting intermittent vertical yellow pinstripe lines on my display (HannsG).  It appears to be OK or better when the device goes into screen saver!  I also get coloured triangle and rectangle which are yellow shadows, when highlighting a folder on the desktop it turns striped blue.  It started 2 days ago,fired up the next day OK then back to stripes today. Any ideas please?

    If you prefer not to take it in, it's possible you could arrange a mail-in repair. I'm not sure if they do that for Mac Minis. It would definitely be out of warranty at this point.

  • How to get rid of a line from rectangle shape?

    usually my eraser tool works fine, but when i try to erase a line from a rectangle i made, it creates a black outline instead of erasing it. i took a video of what happens:
    the rectangle is over the image, which is made of regular lines. though i don't think that's causing the problem.

    Hi
    When you erase using the eraser tool the outline or stroke gets distorted creating a black outline. Try using the delete anchor tool or the Direct selection tool.
    You can even merge the triangle with the rectangle using the unite in path finder. (window -> path finder) shift ctrl+f9

  • Line and shape controls

    Where can I can the line and shape tools that are missing from my list of controls. Using Google and Microsoft site, I see there are "Power Packs". I found and downloaded the PowerPack 3, and the next time I start VS 2013 I get a long list of
    files flashing by on my screen, too fast to read. But I still don't have any reference to line or shape controls that I can find. I am uncomfortable about what this process has added to and changed on my system. Should I just re-install VS and try again?

    Possibly you didn't add shape tools from Choose ToolBox Items after you installed Visual Studio 2013 initially as all toolbox items are not automatically in the toolbox since they do not all need to be used commonly. Although you don't mention which VS 2013
    you installed and I've seen issues where Express versions either do not appear to come with PowerPacks or did not appear to come with PowerPacks at some earlier point in time which may have been resolved. It's also possible earlier releases of other versions
    of VS 2013 did not come with them. Because for some point in time people questioned about some VS 2013 Express versions as well as the Pro and I believe Ultimate versions not having powerpacks available so I used to provide links for version 12.0 for them
    which were at Microsoft but you couldn't find that link by searching at Microsoft downloads for some reason. I just happened to find it in some thread once when assisting somebody with that issue.
    Although as
    Jack-Zhai mentions PowerPack versions should be provided to Visual Studio which are for the version of Visual Studio you are using. It's probably a good idea to remove powerpack 3 although trying to find powerpack 12.0 doesn't seem very easy without a great
    deal of searching. And I'm not certain for a version of Visual Studio how to find out which rev of PowerPacks should be used with it.

    It's always a decimal point too.

  • Rectangle shape and add to controls to it:

    Hi,
    I've a requirement where I need to add rectangle shapes to the application and I should add text, image and button. I checked with Rectangle shape, but it will not allow us to add controls within that. Please let me know how can I do the same.
    Thanks,
    Santosh

    Just add the Rectangle and the TextBlocks and Image to the same Grid:
    <Grid Width="100">
    <Rectangle Width="100" Height="100" Fill="Green"/>
    <Image Source="pic.png" Width="10" Height="10" Margin="20"/>
    <TextBlock Margin="10 5 10 5">text...</TextBlock>
    </Grid>
    The TextBlock will end up on top of the Image that will end up on top of the Rectangle using the above sample markup. Use the Margin property to control the position of the elements.

    I would take your machine into a Apple service center. Its highly likely a hardware issue. The most likely issue being the display has failed. If there is no external damage to the machines display they will replace the whole display under warranty for you.

  • Drawing with a pencil = circles and rectangles

    When I am drawing with a pencil, the line looks like the shape I want to draw, but when I stop drawing, the shape reshapes to another shape whick looks like circles and rectangles = it does not look like the shape I wanted to draw. What is the problem?

    at the bottom of the tools panel click the pencil mode icon and choose ink or, use the brush tool if you want no adjustment to your drawing.

  • Drawing an arrow between two rectangle shapes

    i am trying to draw an arrow between two rectangle shapes. the arrow will start from the center of one rectangle and end with the arrow tip at the edge of the other rectangle. i actually draw the arrow first, and draw the rectangles last so the effect of where the arrow starts will seem to come from the edge and not the center.
    i have code using some trigonmetry that works for squares, but as soon as the shape becomes a rectangle (i.e. width and height are not the same), the drawing breaks.
    can i detect where a line intersects with a shape through clipping and use that point location to draw my arrow head? if so, how?

  • How to cut of rectangle shape to create bracket in Photoshop?

    I want a layer like this:
    I've drawn the rectangle then I made a selection with the marquee selection tool to delete a part of the rectangle but it deleted whole shape. Can anyone please help me out with this.

    Thanks to Trevor.Dennis and @station_two for helping me . I have more a stupid question because I'm not good at Photoshop. Please take a look at image below
    Make your rectangle shape.  If you want it to be perfectly square, hold down the Shift key while you drag.
    Make your two text layers using the centered text alignment option.
    Select the entire canvas — Ctrl a (Cmd a )
    Select the Move tool and then select the rectangle shape and both text layers.  You should see matching ants at the edges of your image.
    Click on the Align horizontal centers icon in the Options bar. The rectangle and text layers will now be centered vertically in the image.
    If you want the box centered width wise, select just the box layer, and make sure you still have the matching ants at the image edges.
    Click on Align vertical centers second icon from the left in the strip above.
    You will need to align the text layers to intersect the horizontal lines manually, but if you hold down the shift key while dragging, they will not move sideways.
    Nearly done.
    You still need those marching ants at the screed edges (Ctrl a).  Go Select > Transform selection You will now see handles on the selection.
    Hold down the Alt (Opt) key, and drag either the central handles on the vertical sides towards the middle of the box. Both sides will move symmetrically.
    When the select is a couple of mm clear of the wider text, click on the tick icon on the Options bar to OK it.
    Make sure just the box layer is selected, and add a Layer mask. This will actually hide the bits you don't want hidden, so last step.
    Invert the layer mask Ctrl i (Cmd i)

  • How to get events with a line drawn by shape is selected ?

    HI,
    In my application I am drawing different lines by following
    way. I have added a sprite within UIComponent and
    then using shape in sprite to draw lines.
    sh = new Shape();
    sh.graphics.clear();

    sh.graphics.moveTo(startX,startY);
    sh.graphics.lineTo(endX,endY);
    this.addChild(sh);
    I want that whenever i click on any line, there should be an
    event related to that line which should enable me to select that
    line. I have tried a lot but i could not found any way. Whether it
    is possible, please suggest any solution if it is.

    that's a much better explanation, you didn't have to create another thread, you could have replied to my reply in the original thread.
    we use the "\r" character to insert a new line and we can use "\t" to insert a "tab" for the spaces, or the actual spaces in a variable
    var sixSpaces = "      ";
    areaText.contents = "This is an Area\rText in a rectangle." + sixSpaces + "See\r" + sixSpaces + "how it" + sixSpaces + "flows to the\rnext line.";

  • How do I set default colors for XY chart series (lines and legend)

    I am implementing a line chart and need to override the default (caspian style) colors for the line colors and the legend symbols.
