Line graph :axis problem.

hi all,
i am using dvt:lineGraph with subType="LINE_VERT_ABS"..in tabularData atrribute i am using EL to bind array list to populate the graph
tabularData="#{pageFlowScope.creditcard_helper.creditCardGraphList}"
creditCardGraphList is populated like this:
for first line on graph: creditCardGraphList .add(new Object[] { balance, "*Current*", noOfInstallment });
And
for second line on graph: creditCardGraphList .add(new Object[] { balance, "*New*", noOfInstallment });
now my graph is populated properly with Two Line
one for type "*New*" and other For type "*Current*"
problem is
on Y axis my noOfInstallment is getting plotted and for both line it starts from origin i.e 0.
but
on X axis my balance is getting plotted .problem on x axis is
for type Current say first point starts from origin and ends in half way on x-axis, for second type my balance should start from origin only which is not happening like it is for y-axis.
i.e for second line on x-axis should start from origin only and should take the same scale as of for first line's x-axis....
can anybody help..???
i really stuckked here

yes current is line1 and on same graph one line having the same x and y commodies.......
say line1 having the co-ordinated
(x,y):-----(10,2)(20,40)(30,50)
line2 having the co-ordinate:
(x,y):-(12,4)(24,30)(15,45)
now consider line 2nd's first point (12,4) this point on x axis should be between line 1st's (10,2) and (20,30)....which is actually not happening...(12,4) is after line 1st's (30,50)...
here on x-axis it is taking the values as group.every value it is taking at new point....
but on y-axis its taking as values...which it will plot 4 between 1st line's(10,2) and(20,40)...
morever current and New are the same commodies i am adding them i one arraylist...
for line1: graphlist.add(new Object[] { balance, "current", noOfInstallment });
for line2: graphlist.add(new Object[] { balance, "New", noOfInstallment });
something to do with this i guess...
<dvt:y1Axis/>

  • Combine output  from two data sources for a line graph.

    Hello Experts,
    I need your help in following scenario.
    Scenario - We have a line graph created in VC. We have a numeric field in the data seris and a date field in the Category axis.
                      This is working fine.
    Requirement - Customer wants month names instead of dates on the category axis of the line graph.
    Problem - The RFC which is providing the data to line graph doesnot have a output field giving month names instead it has dates.
    Options Tried - Tried using 'Union' and 'Switch' operator with a RFC giving month names. Unfortunately this doesnot work.
                             One close try was with 'union' operator but it ignores the numeric fields.
    Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Amit Kade

    Hello Sandeep,
    Thank you for the reply. I did try to do changes in RFC, I am calling a FM which gives me month names in my original RFC.
    But still the outpot of this FM is in a seperate table and anyways I will have to combine these two tables.
    Problem still remains the same.
    I tried using 'Filter' to convert date format but after applying filter my VC application is not deploying.

  • Problem in setting axis(x and y) in line graph

    Hi All,
    I have a database table student with two column score(number data type) and "no of student"(number data type). With this table I want a jsp line graph which will describe the student table.Score col would be in X axis and the other one in y axis.I am not able to set score in x axis. I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.
    By using scatter graph I am able to set score in x axis and "no of student" in y axis.But my requirement is line graph.So, is there any way to achieve a line graph where score would be in x axis and "no of students" would be in y axis?
    Can any body help me regarding this matter?

    Hi,
    If you are still looking for the solution to this, you can change the graph to display the way you require.
    If you have a graph def file like BIGraphDef1.xml you need to select it in the application navigator. Then in the Structure window select the top level (ex. BIGraph1). This will give you the options available in the property inspector.
    If you change the dataRowShownAsASeries from True to False, you should be able to display your data in the line graph.

  • Line Graph Problem when used with Series

    I am facing a problem with Line Graph in Oracle Reports 10g.
    I have made a graph having series of three curves.
    The graph is perfect when all series have similar X-Axis values. See the link
    http://www.sysautomation.com/ask/RPT_LINE_GRAPH_OK.PDF
    But same graph does not print curves properly, gives spaces in the curves, when all the series do not have similar values on X-Axis
    http://www.sysautomation.com/ask/RPT_LINE_GRAPH_NOT_OK.PDF
    Pl. guide me what to do to make this graph working.

    Thanks for reply.
    In my case, I have to plot curves.
    and some Series have different X-axis values.
    I have no choice, but to plot them.
    The same thing was working fine with Reports 6i + Graphics 6i.
    What is Scatter Plot?
    Thanks again.
    This is a limitation in the current line graph in
    Reports 10g (9.0.4). I can't recall whether this has
    improved in 10.1.2 or it was planned for the next
    rev.
    Would trying a scatter plot be better?
    Line graphs are normally meant for regular intervals
    on x-axis, so using the example of dates, Jan, Feb
    and Dec would be placed right next to each other,
    rather than scaled with the right distance between
    Feb and Dec.

  • Problems with Flash Line Graphs

    I have two problems with the new Flash Line Graphs in APEX 3.1
    1. I have created a query that returns a set number of rows. Sometimes the VALUE for a specific row might be null. When this occurs the LABEL data does not show up on the X axis. I want the LABEL data to show up no matter what. How do I accomplish this?
    2. Related to the above query. When the VALUE field is null for 3 records (or more) in a row, not only does the LABEL data for those records not display, the VALUE and LABEL data for the records that appear in the set after these 3 records also do not display. If one or even two null VALUE fields appears in a row, things are still OK. What do I need to do to get all my data to display?
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Line / scatter plot axis problems

    I'm trying to create a graph to show the percentage of revenue that is generated by some percentage of classes offered, a la an 80-20 graph. Sample XML:
    <DATA>
    <RevenueByClass>
    <REVENUEBYCLASS_ROW>
    <CLASS_NUMBER>1</CLASS_NUMBER>
    <PERCENT_OF_CLASSES>.24</PERCENT_OF_CLASSES>
    <PERCENTAGE>4.67</PERCENTAGE>
    </REVENUEBYCLASS_ROW>
    <REVENUEBYCLASS_ROW>
    <CLASS_NUMBER>2</CLASS_NUMBER>
    <PERCENT_OF_CLASSES>.48</PERCENT_OF_CLASSES>
    <PERCENTAGE>6.83</PERCENTAGE>
    </REVENUEBYCLASS_ROW>
    </RevenueByClass>
    </DATA>
    Ideally, I want a line graph (which I can make without any trouble) with PERCENT_OF_CLASSES showing up on the X-axis and PERCENTAGE on the Y-axis. My problem is that, because it's a line graph, BI Beans treats the X-axis as ordinal rather than a data axis, so the axis labels are completely haywire. I would like a way to change the line graph so that the axis labels are the same as the Y-axis, preferably every 10% or 20%. Skipping doesn't work, because the total number of classes can vary so the exact percentages can vary as well.
    If there is no way to do that, I could try to make it as a scatter plot; however, it's not built into the wizard and I've had little success trying to build it by hand. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Unfortunately it seems that while most chart types can cope with data in rows, 'scatter' needs data to be in columns. If you create a table the transpose of how you described it, then click Listings and command-click 200, you should be able to create the correct scatter chart. Note that you'll probably then want to click the numbers on the x-axis of the chart (e.g. 80) until a narrow box appears which contains just those numbers. Then, in the chart inspector 'Axis' dialogue enter the value 50 in 'Value Axis Format':'Minimum', and maybe chnge the number of steps to suit (here 3). You might want to repeat this for the y-axis with different values.

  • Simple line graph problem

    Hi there,
    I want to create a very simple line graph, containing 1 line. Therefore i create a Graph.LINE_VERT_ABS type Graph and add the data using myGraph.setLocalRelationalData(al ArrayList). This arraylist contains values in the form of
    setname jan 12.2
    setname feb 14.5
    setname march 8.1
    etc
    When i do this, I get the errormessage: "The data has an insufficient number of columns. This graph type requires at least 2 columns of data. The data provided has one column.".
    When i add another dummy value to the arraylist:
    dummy dummya 1
    dummy dummyb 2
    the graph displays correctly, but only with a additional line for the dummy values, also in the Legend.
    What am i doing wrong. Surely it is possible to display just one line in the Graph??
    Any help is appreciated.
    Linda

    In the arraylist, setname identifies a column. By default, columns are plotted as groups, or different points along the horizontal axis. In order to have a line or area graph, you need two groups. The data that you are passing has 1 group and 3 series. You should pass it as follows:
    jan setname 12.2
    feb setname 14.5
    march setname 8.1
    etc.
    Passing data like this will give you three groups (jan, feb, march) and one series (setname).
    By the way, what version of BI Beans are you using and how did find out about setLocalRelationalData? That API was never publicly released. It was replaced by setTabularData (same method renamed) and exposed in 9.0.3.

  • CR XI - Problem Setting Line Graph colors in the Chart Expert

    Post Author: desselle
    CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
    Hello,
    I created a Crystal Report (CR) of an existing Trend Analysis report. I have created a VB6 application that calls the .RPT file I created for the report in CR.  The VB6 app sets the report recordset via code that corrsponds to the .TTX file, and the parameters .  The report contains a Line graph that plots five pieces of data.  The report & graph work good.  CR determines the color of each line on the graph.  However, I need to set the color for each line to correspond to the colors used on our existing reports.  The users are accustom to a certain color representing a certain set of data on the existing reports.   I have tried everything I can think of and from all documentation I can find, and nothing changes the line colors.   I have tried all of the following:
    1.) From the Chart Expert, Option tab, I click the Format button next to Color and setup conditional color settings per each piece of data.   However, when I run the report these conditional color settings are not reflected on the CR graph.     I am using formula fields (based off database fields in the recordset) to produce the report.  However, I only see the database fields to use in the conditional color formatting screen and not the formula fields.    I thought this would possibly be the cause why the colors wonu2019t change on the CR, but I canu2019t find a way to make the formula fields show up in the list.
    2.)Also, I tried right clicking the individual lines of the graph and change the selected item color, but this didnu2019t change the color either.  I do this in Design mode and Preview mode and neither one changes the color of the lines on the graph.
    3.)I have also looked into the CR object model to see if I can change the line colors of the graph via code and it doesn't look like I am given this flexibility.
    Do you know what I am doing wrong here?   I just want to be able to set the color of each line on the CR graph to the color I want instead of using the default colors.
    Thanks,Steve

    CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
    Hello,
    I got the problem fixed w/ the line graph not making the data lines the same color on the report as on the frmPlot graph.   Compare the two screen shots below.   The problem was as follows:  When I created the graph (in the Chart Expert) the field u201CReadingDateu201D was not one of the Report Fields, and all the other fields were Report Fields (Reading, LowAlarm, UpperAlarm, LowerLimit, & UpperLimit). See the 3rd screen shot below.  ReadingDate does show up as a Report Field now but it wasnu2019t at first.   Originally, this field was only available in the Chart Expert as a recordset field.  When I changed this field to be a Report Field, the graph then allowed me to change the data series line colors.   This was not obvious at all.   From the beginning when I setup the graph and passed in the recordset from VB it graphed all of the data series fine.   The colors that the Chart Expert chose for each line just didnu2019t match what was on the frmPlot graph.   Anyway, it is working now.     I can at least say I learned (somethingu2019s to-do and somethingu2019s not to-do) a good bit about Crystal Reports in the process.
    Thanks

  • How to display no. of seconds in HH:MM:SS format on Y-Axis in Line Graph

    Hi All,
    I have two columns as No. of Seconds and Date.
    I want to create a Line Graph with Date on Horizontal Axis (X - Axis) and, on Vertical Axis (Y - Axis) I want to represent the No. of Seconds as HH:MM:SS format.
    For example, If the DB returns No. of Seconds as 93, I want to get it on Vertical Axis as 00:01:33 (00 hours, 01 Minute, 33 seconds), If it is 145 seconds , I want to get it as 00:02:25....etc.
    Can anyone please help me on this ?

    Srini VEERAVALLI I already used this code and I'm getting HH:MM:SS format in Table View, but my requirement is I need to represent the HH:MM:SS format on Vertical Axis in Graph View. In Graph View by default it's considering No. of Seconds only.....

    Standard syntax on the Mac is Object, Action. The order is always Select an object (in this case, part of a spreadsheet), then perform an action on or with tat object (in this case, make a chart).
    The same syntax applies to Copy or Cut (and to Paste, althyough it's not as obvious there—the object is whatever is currently on the Clipboard).
    I don't think there is information on printing charts/graphs in the online help. A chart is a graphics object, and is printed as part of the document that contains it. Printing the spreadsheet should also print the chart, provided it is on a page that contains data (AppleWorks's default is to print only the rows and columns that contain data). If you want to print the chart without any of the data, drag the chart over the data to conceal it, and choose the Print options that do not show column or row headers and the cell grid. (These are probably in the AppleWorks options in your Print dialogue, but their position will depend on your print driver.)
    Placing the object (the chart) in another document provides an easier method of printing only the chart, and the method you used (dragging the chart from the spreadsheet to the second document is a common and acceptable one. Dragging an object from one document to another places a copy of the object on the second document, and leaves the original on the original document. This is true in general, not just for charts.
    In the case of a chart, the copy is a static object, while the original maintains its live connection to the underlying spreadsheet—changing a graphed value in the spreadsheet will change the graph to match the new value, but will not affect the copy in the second document.

  • ADF11g: dvt, line graph x-axis (o1 axis) display issue

    Hi,
    In our application we are generating line graphs for a set of data.
    This graph is plotted in between 2 sets of numeric values. (one plotted on x-axis and other on y-axis).
    For better accuracy of plotted graph we are using these numeric values upto 7 decimal places. (for example 8.1234567)
    Now when graph is plotted, then on x-axis (that is o1- axis in case of Line Graph) the tick labels are showing upto 7 decimal places.
    Is there any way so that I could control the display of these tick labels to 1 decimal place instead of 7 decimal places?
    More Info:
    ++The tick labels for x and y axis are generated at runtime by some calculation logic.++
    ++If we set the tick labels for x axis to 1 decimal place instead of 7 decimal places when they are generated , then this will lead to build in accurate graphs.++
    ++So we can't control the decimal format of tick labels when they are generated. We need to control it when they are displayed.++
    Please help...
    Thanks and Regards
    Manav Ratra

    Hi Frank,
    this is not working :( . It holds good for the case where one has to display markers (tick labels) on the lines of line graph and not the tick labels on the axis.
    Moreover here i find out tag as *<dvt:x1Format>*
    where as line graphs does not support x1axis they have o1axis .
    In my case I need to control display of tick labels on the o1axis.

  • How do you switch the x and y axis in a line graph?

    I am fairly new with this program and I need to make a line graph for a science lab report. For the lab, we needed to use a certain amount of water, which was 20 ml, 40 ml, 60 ml, then 80 ml, and we needed to measure the mass of different substances if they had the given values of the volume, and compare their mass and volume in a line graph.
    Therefore, the graph that I need to create requires a constant 4 steps, which are always 20 ml, 40 ml, 60 ml, and 80 ml, for all of the four substances I used during the experiment. That needs to be on the y axis. I need to have the mass of the substances on the x axis, but no matter what I have tried I cannot seem to switch the x and y axis...how can I do that?

    Nevermind I figured it out

    For ex : X - axis dates are 01-jan-2011 to 10-jan-2011
    y - axis are amount and currency
    when i click particular currency line (on 05-jan-2011) how i will get the x axis value 05-jan-2011

    Check the range against which line is plotted, you may have to reduce that range to see accurate values.

    How to change this format.

    Hi,
    Basically you are trying to convert a date into date which is not advisable. Hence convert it to char and then equate it against a character value. Also do not use trunc as it will trim out the time part of the date.
    select * from test
               where to_char(dob,'RRRR/MM/DD HH24:MI:SS')=:p1Then pass the parameter
