Link a Column on a Report to another column on report on another page Drill

I would like the user to click on a column value on a report which then should open another page and filter the report to show the related value which was clicked. Basically I would like to create a hyperlink between two reports as in Drill Down Report.

Hi your question is about APEX (other forum)
but you have to read this turtorial http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e13363/rprt_drill.htm#CIHGBADI

  • Radio group in classic report based on another column on the same row.

    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production
    Application Express 4.1.0.00.32
    How can I have a radio group column based on an LOV utilizing another column on the same row of the report?
    For example: what if I had a survey application and depending on the likert scale that was assigned to the question there would be different possible answer choices:
    Question 1 on row 1 of the report: The class instructor was friendly?
    Likert scale choice is Agreement.
    Choices on Radio Group: Strongly Agree, Agree, Undecided, Strongly Disagree
    Question 2 on row 2 of the report: The class offered good materials?
    Likert scale choice is Quality.
    Choices on Radio Group: Excellent, Below Average, Average, Above Average, Excellent
    The radio group can change per row depending on the Likert scale assigned to the question which is assigned to a different column on the row.
    Can LOV utilize the column? :
    SELECT scale_text
    FROM scale_choices
    WHERE scale_category_choice_id = 2 <<= this would be the Likert scale identifier
    ORDER
    BY display_order

    Two ideas I can think of:
    1) Create multiple pivot tables and then display them one under the other
    2) Create multiple measure columns such as "male_amt", "female_amt", "white_amt", "asian_amt", "black_amt", etc. for all the columns you need. Then you could simple stack them in a single pivot table.
    Option #2 might give you the prettiest results - but also requires a lot more maintenance (for instance, if you reclassify ethnic groups, you'd have to go through the reports to add additional metric columns).
    Hope this helps,

  • URGENT Printing a BI publisher report from a column link in APEX

    I am developing an APEX report with a column link that will call a BI publisher report, the case is the link column in the APEX report will pass the item number to the BI publisher query.
    At the moment this is what I am doing:
    1- Create a hidden item on top of page zero. (e.g. PARAM1_VALUE)
    2- Create a report query and a report layout (For BI Publisher) in the Shared Components. (e.g ITEM_REPORT)
    3- Include the state session in the report query and reference that item in the query. (e.g. SELECT * FROM items where item_number = :PARAM1_VALUE)
    4- Create an APEX report displaying orders with the item number as a link column.
    5- In the Link column I set the report URL request to be "PRINT_SERVER=ITEM_REPORT".
    6- In addition I set the PARAM1_VALUE to be #ITEM_NUMBER# on the link.
    When I press on the link the BI publisher report prints but it doesn't display anything except the Headers, my understanding is that PARAM1_VALUE is not set with the item_number value when I press on the link and thus the query returns no results as when I remove the condition from the query i can see the report printing.
    Please help as this is urgent

    I opened the session and it is there with a proper value, it appears that whenever I enable the inclusion of session state in my shared components query the query returns no rows even if I am not using the item in the query.
    So if my query is "SELECT * FROM items" it will display nothing, the only way to get the report data back is to untick the inclusion of the session state and remove any reference to the item from my query, then I will get the report with all my data (which is NOT what I am trying to do).
    Thanks alot

  • Manipulating report column based on another column value?

    Here is what I am trying to do.
    1.     I have a report region which has 2 columns.
    2.     Both the columns are setup as links to navigate to a different page. I am using <img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#e2.gif" alt="Edit"> for link text report item attribute.
    3.     The value can be either in column 1 or 2 but not in both the columns at the same time.
    4.     If the value is existing in column1, the column 2 should display as null, which I have trouble with. I can see the images even though the value is null.
    Appreciate if you can let me know how to achieve this?
    Edited by: user552288 on Jul 15, 2009 7:45 AM

    Could you please post the current query which you are using?
    Instead of using the image display attribute in the report attributes column, can you include that part of the query.
    Something like:
    select
    (case when col1!=NULL then <img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#e2.gif" alt="Edit">) else 'NULL' as Column1,
    (case when col2!=NULL then <img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#e2.gif" alt="Edit"> ) else 'NULL' as Column2

  • Report Attributes: Add column link and derived column

    On the Report Attributes page (4000:420), under the Tasks list on the right side of the page, there are 2 links, "Add column link" and "Add derived column". This is the first time I am noticing them.
    The usage is clear, they add columns to the report to function either as a drill-thru link column or just a read-only derived field.
    Doing it this way does NOT modify the source query for the report region.
    Is there any benefit to using this feature versus adding a "null column_link" or "null derived_col" columns to my source query then setting attributes for those columns?
    Thanks

    Well, one disadvantage I can see of using the 'Add Column link' is that if I have more than 1 of such columns, they all show up as '[column link]' on the Report Attributes page with no way to tell what the underlying links are. Instead, if I were to manually add these dummy columns to my query itself, I would give them meaningful column aliases that indicated where they link to.
    Suggestion: Maybe a tooltip could be added to the Report Attributes page for such columns which indicate what the underlying link is without actually going to the Edit page for that column.
    Thanks

  • Auto calculate column item when another column items are changed in report

    Hello,
    I have a report which consists of some editable text items. These editable items correspond to different columns in the table. Now in the report I want to make one column item to be automated so that it can perform some calculations based on other columns data entered by the user in the report. Like, for example if the user changes text item data for col3, col4 then it should automatically perform the calculations for col10 ; similar to onchage event. Consider a situation where in a user comes and enters data in the report throught the text item for col3, so whenever user changes the data for col3 it should perform the calculations for col10 automatically.
    Can anyone please help me with this issue.

  • FSG report not printing column values on same line but sequentially

    FSG report problem:
    We have defined 2 FSG reports 'Balance Sheet - Total' and 'Balance Sheet - Detail'. Both reports have 3 column values, namely the value in Euro (our Functional Currency), the value in MUR - Mauritian rupees (our reporting currency) and the rate of exchange.
    The report 'Balance Sheet - Total' displays these values for assets e.g.:-
    EURO MUR Rate of exchange
    Non-current assets
    1. Intangible assets ? ? ?
    2. Other investments ? ? ?
    (note: ? represents a certain value)
    The report 'Balance Sheet - Detail' displays values as follows :-
    Account EURO MUR Rate of exchange
    1. Property & Equipment
    A10101 Building Cost ? 0.00 0.0000
    A20105 Motor Veh Accum Dep ? 0.00 0.0000
    TOTAL ? 0.00 0.0000
    A10101 Building Cost 0.00 ? n/m
    A20105 Motor Veh Accum Dep 0.00 ? n/m
    (note: ? represents a certain value)
    What we don't understand s why the 'Balance Sheet - Detail' report repeats the display of column values in MUR FOLLOWING the display in EURO, instead of displaying column values for EURO and MUR on the same line, just like in the case for 'Balance Sheet - Total'.
    Is there anything in the definition of column set, row set or report set should I change?
    Can anybody help. Thanks.
    null

    The problem is related to defining the column set properly. It is OK with the first report and needs modification for the second. Formatting is also important so that they appear in the same line(row). The columns need to be linked to the fileds and assignment to set of books is also important as mentioned by Rajsekhar

  • Hyperlink to another bi publisher report in 10g

    I am using Bi Publisher 10g.
    I want to build a bi publisher report that makes a link to another bi publisher report. I created a Hyperlink in my template and it works fine, however the url that I am using is the full path to the xdo resource and their parameters, that means my url is http://myserver:myport/xmlpserver/~Myuser/MyReport/MyReport.xdo?parameter1={parameter1}&parameter2={parameter2}. The problem is that I want to call my report from dashboard and then when I follow the link the publisher link is opened and it worked fine but I want to see the output in the same window or other window but I don't want to see the complete Bi Publisher product.
    How can I build the hyperlink in order to see the detail report on a new window but without calling the complete Bi Publisher product?

    Hi,
    You can use this code.
    I have written the code assuming that your YTD includes the month of the date that user enters.
    CASE I_VNAM.
    WHEN 'YCUR_MONTHS_YTD'.
    IF I_STEP = 2. "after the popup
    CLEAR L_S_RANGE.
    LOOP AT I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO LOC_VAR_RANGE
    WHERE VNAM = 'YCALDAY'.
    CURDAY = LOC_VAR_RANGE-LOW(8).
    concatenate curday(4) '01' into start_month.
    end_month = curday(6).
    CLEAR L_S_RANGE.
    L_S_RANGE-SIGN = 'I'.
    L_S_RANGE-OPT = 'BT'.
    L_S_RANGE-LOW = start_month.
    L_S_RANGE-HIGH = end_month.
    APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.
    ENDLOOP.
    ENDIF.
    WHEN 'YCUR_MONTH'.
    IF I_STEP = 2. "after the popup
    CLEAR L_S_RANGE.
    LOOP AT I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO LOC_VAR_RANGE
    WHERE VNAM = 'YCALDAY'.
    IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
    CURDAY = LOC_VAR_RANGE-LOW(8).
    current_month = curday(6).
    ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.
                L_S_RANGE-LOW  = current_MOnth.
                L_S_RANGE-SIGN = 'I'.
                L_S_RANGE-OPT  = 'EQ'.
                APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.

  • Using Column Value in CSS Style for Column in Report

    I am trying to apply a CSS style (background color) to a column in a report based on another column.
    So for the Column attributes for a specific column, I would like to be able to add this to the 'CSS Style' Field under the group, "Column Formatting":
    background-color:#BKG_COLOR#;
    It doesn't seem to be taking my column value, which is #daf2ea
    In the CSS Style Field, if I change it to: background-color:#daf2ea - then it works.
    So it doesn't seem to take my column value of #BKG_COLOR" in the CSS Style field.
    Any ideas? Do I need to use the 'HTML Expression' field instead, and how would I do that?
    Thanks,
    John

    Hi,
    that's correct, custom report templates will do.
    I find them sometimes quite limited, though. And I always ask myself "how would I do it without APEX", because there's often a lean jQuery solution that affords less coding.
    If you employ a so called "marker class" that depends on your colour value, you could begin like in the previous answer and enter the follwing into HTML Expression:
    &lt;span class="#BKG_CLASS#"&gt;#THE_COLUMN_I_WANT_TO_SHOW#&lt;/span&gt;
    That means you would not query a plain color, but some name that can act as a CSS marker, like
    select THE_COLUMN_I_WANT_TO_SHOW
          , case when THE_COLUMN_I_WANT_TO_SHOW > 100 then 'hotColor' else 'coldColor' end as BKG_CLASS
      from my_tableIn the page's Function and Global Variable Declaration, you'd enter
    function colorMyReport () {
      apex.jQuery('.hotColor').closest('td').css('background-color','#FAA');
    }And under Execute when Page Loads, you enter:
    colorMyReport();There's only one challenge, of course, when the report is paged via AJAX, because the script would only run once (on the first page shown).
    But if this is a solution for you, I'd be pleased to show you how to overcome this. Just let me know.
    Hope there is no typo in my typing, because I have to catch my train now :-)
    Bye!

  • Print out a column value only if another column has a specific value (CASE Statement)

    Hello all,
    I tried many hours to find a solution for the following request but wasn't successful. Maybe you could help me.
    I've using the already existing SQL Views in Microsoft Service Manager to do some basic reporting about my tickets.There is no closed date in the activity tickets so I decided to print out the lastmodified timestamp when the status is "closed".
    That's my query:
    SELECT DISTINCT
    dbo.DisplayStringView.DisplayName AS Status,
    CASE WHEN dbo.DisplayStringView.DisplayName = 'Closed' THEN dbo.DisplayStringView.LastModified ELSE 'NO CLOSED Date' END AS ClosedDate
    FROM dbo.MTV_System$WorkItem$Activity$ManualActivity LEFT OUTER JOIN
    dbo.DisplayStringView ON dbo.MTV_System$WorkItem$Activity$ManualActivity.Status_8895EC8D_2CBF_0D9D_E8EC_524DEFA00014 = dbo.DisplayStringView.LTStringId
    Unfortunatelly I'm not getting the value from dbo.DisplayStringView.LastModified. SQL outputs that it is not possible to convert the string to date/time.
    I think there is a problem with the CASE statement in combination with a value select.
    Any ideas how to print out a column value only if another column has a specific value?

    I think it is the other way if you want the missing date shown as a string.
    CASE
    WHEN
    dbo.DisplayStringView.DisplayName
    =
    'Closed'
    THEN
    Convert( varchar(10),dbo.DisplayStringView.LastModified
    , 101) ELSE
    'NO CLOSED Date'
    END
    AS
    ClosedDate

    number of columns are not fixed...they may be 20...30....etc

    Requirement is...
    I have a table scn ... where i can make entries any time....assume they are some rules...
    I have another table called t1 ... where i need to calculate values of t1 again some specific rules are table scn.
    So for each t1 there will be one row with columns as scn entries which I select on interface.

    t1...................xx...... xx..........xx..........xx........ xx........ xx
    t3...... .............xx...... xx..........xx..........xx........ xx........ xx
    t4....................xx...... xx..........xx..........xx........ xx........ xx
    selection of these scn columns will be dynamic....so i cant create n number of columns in the report template and hide them as per requirement....it will not work.
    Wat is a feasible solution to create such kind of report ?
    Can we create template in C# or .net ?
    IF yes...do we have to save every time in order to render report ?
    e.g.   one report may contain 4 columns and other 10 ... so do i have to create new rpt file each in order to render the report ?
    Please if any1 have approach to create this kind of report then it will very helpful....

  • How to create report with dynamic columns with static row labels

    Hi All,
    I am creating one report as per attached format. I have labels on the right side of the report
    and data in 3 columns. The data is taken dynamically from the command query.
    It gets data from 3 different result sets/command queries.
    I tried creating the report horizontally instead of vertically, but the logo image I am not able to rotate in 270degrees.
    Can anybody tell me how to create the report...??

    Hi Abhilash,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
    Actually the problem is with the image, as I am not able to rotate 270 degree. Crystal report cannot support the rotation of image.
    i have another problem, I have to create a report in which
    Lables are fixed on the left side of report and 3 columns per portrait page. Those columns are
    dynamically created and shown in the report.
    The format is like the above. Can you please help me in doing this report, as I tried it doing
    with CrossTab. I am really stuck to this report.

    This is a presentation problem so the correct place to solve it is in the presentation layer using CSS. CSS3 introduces multiple column layouts, but this feature is only supported in recent browser versions—in particular requiring IE10+ in standards mode, which I suspect will be a problem as (a) you're not likely to be using IE10, and (b) APEX 3.2 themes aren't HTML5 and won't trigger standards mode (and aren't likely to be fully compatible even if forced to).
    Nonetheless, I think it's a technique that's worth demonstrating (if only for me to get some experience of using it), before considering an alternative option using interleaved row ordering and CSS floats that might be of more immediate use to you.
    Start with a standard report using a basic query on the [OE]HR EMPLOYEES table:
    select
        first_name
      , last_name
      , phone_number
    from
        oehr_employees
    order by
        last_name
      , first_name
    The appropriate structure for a single column report with a predefined sort order is an ordered list, so we create a custom generic row report template, as a copy of the Standard report template with the following modifications:
    Before Rows
    <table cellpadding="0" border="0" cellspacing="0" id="report_#REGION_STATIC_ID#" class="pagination-container">
      #TOP_PAGINATION#
    </table>
    <ol class="single-value-list" #REPORT_ATTRIBUTES#>
    Before Each Row
    <li>
    Column Template 1
    #COLUMN_VALUE#
    After Each Row
    </li>
    After Rows
    </ul>
    <div class="t17CVS">#EXTERNAL_LINK##CSV_LINK#</div>
    <table cellpadding="0" border="0" cellspacing="0" class="pagination-container">
      #PAGINATION#
    </table>
    This report template is generic enough to be used in both solutions, and although it appears you don't need pagination in the solution, I've retained it to provide more flexibility and because it involves an interesting problem in creating balanced columns on the last page in the interleaved row order option.
    As the template only displays one column per row, and to exercise the column layout break properties, all of the table columns are hidden and we create a derived column that uses an HTML Expression containing some hCard microformat markup to make the list item content span 2 lines:
    <div class="vcard">
      <span class="fn n"><span class="given-name">#FIRST_NAME# <span class="family-name">#LAST_NAME#</span></span>
      <div class="tel">#PHONE_NUMBER#</div>
    </div>
    We can then implement some basic list/hCard formatting using CSS:
      Basic list/hCard formatting common to both CSS3 multi-column and interleaved rows/CSS float solutions
    ol {
      margin-left: 0;
      padding-left: 0;
      width: 44em;
      white-space: nowrap;
      list-style-type: square;
      ol li {
        margin: 0 0 0.5em 2em;
    .vcard .family-name {
      font-weight: 600;
      text-transform: uppercase;
    The CSS3 multi-column rules used in the first report region are pretty straightforward, although they have to take account of the current level of browser support by using vendor-specific properties where appropriate:
      CSS3 multi-column formatting
    .multi-col ol {
    /* Safari/Chrome/Opera */
      -webkit-column-count: 2;
      -webkit-column-gap: 0;
      /* Firefox */
      -moz-column-count: 2;
      -moz-column-gap: 0;
      /* IE10+ */
      column-count: 2;
      column-gap: 0;
      .multi-col ol li {
        -webkit-column-break-inside: avoid;
        -moz-column-break-inside: avoid;
        break-inside: avoid;
        /* Workaround for FF as break-inside doesn't work. */
        page-break-inside: avoid;
    For the interleaved row ordering workaround used in the second report, the query has to be modified to calculate the page each row will appear on, and the position in each column on the page it will occupy:
    with emps_ordered_unique as (
        select
    -- If you need distinct rows then just restrict them at the start
            distinct
            first_name
          , last_name
          , phone_number
          , row_number()
              over (
                order by last_name, first_name) row#
        from
            oehr_employees
        order by
            last_name
          , first_name)
      , emps_interleaved as (
          select
              first_name
            , last_name
            , phone_number
            , row#
              -- 30 is overall number of rows per page
            , ceil(row# / 30) page#
              -- 30 is overall number of rows per page; 15 maximum number of rows per column
            , mod(row# - 1, least(ceil(count(*) over (partition by ceil(row# / 30)) / 2), 15)) col_row#
          from
              emps_ordered_unique)
    select
        first_name
      , last_name
      , phone_number
    from
        emps_interleaved
    order by
        page#
      , col_row#
      , row#
    The trick here is to interleave the rows, with those that have the same position in each column appearing in pairs so that they can be laid out side-by-side using element widths and CSS floats.
    The CSS for this report is:
      Interleaved rows/CSS float formatting
    #interleaved .pagination-container {
      clear: both;
    #interleaved ol {
      #interleaved ol li {
        float: left;
        width: 20em;
    The drawback with the latter option is that although the list entries are visually ordered down and across the columns, they are not semantically ordered thus in the HTML markup, so any user perceiving the list without this CSS (for example via a screenreader, or a mobile device with an alternative style sheet) gets the list in a weird order. For that reason I probably wouldn't use this approach. At present I'd implement the CSS3 multi-column approach as a progressive enhancement for users with up-to-date browsers, and allow it to gracefully degrade to a basic 1-column list in legacy versions.
