Link colour problem when previewed in IE

I'm using DW CS4 on a PC.
Problem:   I have successfully (thanks to this forum!) changed the colour of some links on my site (two different types) and it works great in all the browsers except for Internet Explorer. The main links throughout my site have been changed to blue (active) and orange (hover), and the links in my footer have been changed to white (active) - they are on a dark blue background - and orange (hover). In Internet Explorer my main links appear as a purple colour (active) instead of blue and the hover is orange. The links in the footer haven't changed to white (active). Again, hover has changed to orange.
Because I'm still building the site I haven't got it on line yet so I can't provide a link, but I have attached the code. Can anyone help me fix this??

John,
Thankyou so much for your reply - it worked! Now I have all my links working beautifully and I couldn't be happier!     All I have to do now is tackle the next task, i.e. forms, and then hopefully the site will be complete. I must admit, if it wasn't for the help I get on this forum I wouldn't have been able to do half of it.
Many thanks once again.

  • Text Problems, When Previewed It Has Moved And Changed Font

Hi, i have written boxes of text using layers, and on all of
my pages, the font (apple chancery) and font size are changed when
previewed in Safari. Im new to dreamweaver so havent got a clue of
the problem, but illl prosume its basic. Can anyone help?!
Ill give you the code if that makes things easier to
    understand, please help!
    Thanks very much, Ashley

    > Hi, i have written boxes of text using layers
This is trouble right from the start. See
    http://www.great-web-sights.com/g_layer-overlap.asp
to see why I say that.
While you are learning, your best bet would be to avoid
    layers altogether
and concentrate on using tables (not layout mode!) for
    placement on the
    page.
Also, you need to use only fonts/font families that are 'web
    safe', i.e.,
those that you can be certain everyone has installed on their
    system. Apple
Chancery is not on the list -

  • "Speed bump" problem: when previewing on the iPad, the first page of each new chapter or section sticks and loads slowly.  How can I fix it?

I am building a book with text and photographs in iBooks Author, basing the design on my publisher's layout for the hard copy version.  Whenever I introduce a new section or chapter, I hit a "speed bump" when previewing on the iPad.  As you read, the first page of the new chapter or section is very hard to turn and sticks as it loads.  Within each section the pages flow very easily, but when you reach the next section you hit another speed bump. I have experimented with many possible solutions to no avail.  It does not seem to matter whether the new section has images or just text; the speed bump occurs regardless.

    Joel Pickford wrote:
However, I am finding that using fewer sections with more content in them minimizes the problem (i.e. fewer section-transions means fewer speed bumps).  This is contarary to the support page's suggestion of keeping chapters and sections smaller.  I am not having any problem within each section, even with lots of full page photos.
That recommendation was made, presumably, to reduce the length of the delay for each chapter. More content in the chapter means more delay when changing chapters. Of course, if you have lots of little chapters, the delay can still be annoying because, even if only four or five pages in a chapter, the delay is still noticable. Just pick something that works for your book and don't worry too much about the delay. Your readers will be familiar with it if they've seen more than one IBA book.
Will the choice of color space, s-rgb or Adobe rgb 1998, affect file size?
Should I try to compress them more- say, level 5 or level 4 in Save For Web?
Should I size the images for the iPad 2 instead of the iPad 3 retina display, since there are more 2s out there?
Which color space you use does not affect file size. Apple recommend to use sRGB, so I would stick with that. As to compression and sizing, only you can decide. Try and borrow an iPad 2 to make a judgement at what level of compression and resolution you think the images start too look bad. Your high-rez images for the new iPad will be down-sampled for display on the older models, which will introduce additional artifacts.
For my book, I simply used images at 1024 x 768 resolution. When viewed on a new iPad, they look just fine. The lower resolution is basically unnoticeable (at least for my purposes). You can view a sample of my book here: "Djembe Construction: A Comprehensive Guide". If you think the images there are good enough for your purposes, you could down-size your images to half their resolution, which will reduce file size about around a factor of three.

  • Colour problems when printing - Photoshop image

I have created a small header image in Photoshop. It consists of a background with a number of layers using blue and grey (the grey colour is RGB: 202, 202, 202). I placed the image in InDesign and then converted to press quality PDF for printing. In InDesign I have also created a number of shapes (rectangles with rounded corners) which I have made the same grey colour (202, 202, 202). On the screen everything looks the same grey, however, when I convert to a PDF and print, the grey in the image I placed from Photoshop looks a completely different grey colour to the rectangular shapes I created in InDesign with the same background colour. The grey colour I am using is all 202, 202, 202.
I ahve checked colour synching in bridge and it is correct across the creative suite. I have checked output preview in Acrobat and they are the same. I have also checked profiles (assign profiles) in both PS and ID and they are the same.
The printer is an HP Colour laserjet 3800DN and when i do a etst print, the colours all appear to be okay.
Why when I print are there completely different shades of grey?

    Hi,
Just did all that. I converted imager mode in Photoshop to CMYK and created a rectangle shape with the same grey colour underneath it and printed it directly from Photoshop. I then converted image to PNG and placed in InDesign, created a grey rectangle underneath the banner image and printed and finally I converted to press quality pdf and printed. All still have the same colour difference between the grey colours.
The weird thing is the Photoshop grey looks weird - kind of washed out with some magenta in it.
I am beginning to think it is printer problem.

  • Spry Collapsible Panel problem when previewing in web browser

    Hello.
I have inserted a spry collapsible panel into my website, made ZERO adjustments to any of the scripting or even css styling, and previewed the panel in my Safari browser. It does not seem to be working correctly. I've attached a couple of images showing what the panel looks like in the browser. My site is not published yet, so I cannot give out the url.
Is something wrong with the js file? I tried the panel earlier on a different site on the same computer and it was working fine.
the "Tab" menu text does not fit inside the grey box. Everything collapses fine, however, the gray box is too thin for the text. I've tried adjusting it in the CSS sheet, but it doesn't seem to change anything.
This is the panel in the collapsed state. It looks bad. I know it's not supposed to work like this.
When I preview the site in "live view" everything works fine...

I have inserted a spry collapsible panel into my website, made ZERO
adjustments to any of the scripting or even css styling
That is good, that means that I have a local copy of the scripting and css files eliminating the need to attach the code to a post.
Is something wrong with the js file? I tried the panel earlier on a
different site on the same computer and it was working fine
The fact that it works on a different site means that something is correct. My assumption is that the scripting and css files are doing their job correctly and to answer your question regarding the js file, no.
Having eliminated the Spry original JavaScript and CSS files as being the culprits, there must be a problem with the rest of the site, incorrect HTML, other interfering JavaScript or CSS.
I can keep guessing, but only those persons that are privy to your code can give you any positive input. Please find a way to upload your files so that we can see the code in context.
To this end, screen captures do not assist in solving the problem, they only add to others' amusement at seeing the problem.

  • IPhoto problems. When trying to print a book I am getting corruption problems when previewing in pdf.  Please help !

I am having repeated problems producing a photo book on Iphoto v9.2.1
When i preview my photo book in pdf before sending to be printed, some of the photos are corrupted even though they are ok in iPhoto.
I have tried changing the photo but then the corruption seems to move to another page. I have also updated my software and restarted the computer as directed by the help section, but to no avail.
    All ideas gratefully received !

Try booting into safe mode and previewing -
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
if it looks good order while in safe mode then reboot to get out of safe mode

  • Colour problems when opening PEF files in ACR

I have the problem that when I open a (Pentax) raw image in ACR the colours (particularly blue it seems to me) go awry.
If I open  the image in Pentax Photo Browser the image is displayed correctly.
If  I convert the image to jpg in Pentax Photo Lab the image is displayed  correctly.
If I open this jpg in Photoshop Elements 8 the image is  displayed correctly.
It's only when I open the raw files directly in Photoshop  that the colours are wrong.
Opening the raw file in Elements opens the  'Camera raw' window, which has various adjustment tabs with sliders.   What ever adjustments I make in this window, I cannot seem to  replicate/keep the correct colours.
I have tried resetting and then using the Camera Raw Defaults.
I've also tried some other adjustments, i.e. setting the white  balance to 'Daylight' (as this is how the camera is usually set) and the  camera calibration to 'Camera Standard' - I can get the blue somewhat  close, but then the yellow is out.
So, at the moment, I have to process  the raw files in Pentax Photo lab, then open and edit them in  Photoshop.
It would be nice to be able to bring single PEF files into PS without having to convert them first.
What  on earth am I doing wrong?  Or is this a genuine limitation with ACR?
    Any help/guidance would be appreciated!
    Regards,
    Dingo.

    Jim Hess,
That's helpful advice, thank you.  Sadly, I've been unable so far to make adjustments in ACR that are anywhere near (IMHO) the images as displayed in Pentax Photo Lab.  Even the (truly awful) MS Office picture manager provides more consistent colour.
I'm still convinced that I'm doing something wrong.  I know that Elements is much cheaper than full Photshop (something that I simply can't afford to buy) but to be so wildly out is unbelieveable.
For example, I took a photo of a jet passing overhead, with (out of focus) leaves on a tree, then went in and loaded this onto my computer.  IMHO the Pentax Photo Browser showed the scene pretty much as was. After converting to jpg in Photo Lab, I loaded into PSE 8 and Office picture manager - both display consistently with the raw image displayed in Photo Browser.
However, when I loaded the same raw file into ACR the blue sky has a greenish tinge that I can nearly adjust out, but either way, the green leaves look muddy and the colour is weak.  If I get the leaves good, then the blue is very over saturated.  When I compromise both the blue and the green, the aluminium fuselage on the jet has a red/purple tinge.
Some more information:  Monitor is calibrated (I borrowed a colleages Huey).  Camera and PSE are both set to Adobe RGB.  I print to a Epson R1400, with colour management handled by PSE, and the colour matches the screen very well.
    Any further advice much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Dingo.

    Hi Preran,
Sure, I can share with other users but I am not sure this solution was the best, but it works for me.   Somehow something about Dreamweaver is very complicated to use and understand- just in my opinion.  All I did was to add another div box outside of the 3rd text box which I created as div box (also did it for the 2nd text box since they aligned close to each other).  I know it shouldn't be needed since the text box is already a div box itself and my 1st and 2nd text boxes were okay.
Preran- please see my other question posted and maybe you can help?  Thank you.

    Question
I have one problem and I think it is a settings issue. When I google the web I get results. Now, I visited some website and then I want to return to my search results and pick another search result. And there is a problem: I don't have any markers (diffrent link colour for visited sites in IE) that would help me to distinguish visited and not visited sites.

Why start a new and very similar thread to your other one which you have not responded to (have you read the replies?)
I suggest that no response is made to this duplicate thread.

Yes, it will be a problem. Convert the images in Photoshop using the printer's color profiles or a standard CMYK profile.

  • Link problem when converting MS Word to PDF with Acrobat Professional

    Hello all,
    I have the following problem:
When I have a MS Word document with links to other files inside and I convert it to PDF the links are converted from relative paths to absolute paths.
The problem is created by Acrobat as the links in the MS Word file are relative (I have checked this by moving the different docs to another directory and confirmed that the links still work after the move).
How can I make the paths in the PDF relative again? I know there is a plugin from Evermap (and I can confirm this works) but I do not want to use this plugin (=read: spend another $190 dollars) as the license for the Acrobat Professional is expensive enough . Is there a way I can convert the paths within Adobe Acrobat easily? Or better: can I adjust the settings in Acrobat to a new standard when all converted documents contain relative paths?
    Backgroundinfo:
    - Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
    - Windows XP (SP2)
    - MS Word 2002
    Thanks in advance!
    Bart

    Dear Steve,
I have tried what u suggested: I put all the documents (word + linked documents) into the same folder on the local-drive (C). Then I recreated the links  in the word document to be sure they were matching. After that I converted the word document to an PDF and confirmed the links were still working in the PDF document.
Then the biggest challenge: copying the pdf and linked documents to another drive&directory. As you can guess: Unfortunately the links did not work anymore.
    Any other suggestions?
If I use the Evermap-tool (30 day-trial) I can look at the links and this is how it is 'coded' in the pdf.
    first link: ../../../../test/link_a.pdf
    second link: ../../../../test/link_b.pdf
and yes this will work if you put the documents in the directory test in the root of the local-drive but not in a different subdirectory.
    Anyone ideas?
    Grtz,
    Bart
