Link for field in tabular form

Hi everyone,
How can you create add a link (which opens a pop up screen) next to a field in a tabular form, in order to set the value in that field with the value
selected in the pop up screen.
I already know how to set the values.
In the tabular form when you add a link, you see the id and row also. How can I remove that or is there another way to set the values.

I think you can accomplish what you want by changing the the field to update from text to a popup lov. You can do this by going into the report attributes of the tabular form and then clicking the pencil next to the field who needs the lookup values. Change the 'display as' box from text to popup lov and supply the values.
You can also hide fields by going into the report attributes and unchecking Show.

Query for create manual tabular form using apex collection add row button functionality

My requirement is i created a tabular form manually using apex collection but if i click on add row button then previously selected data refreshed and added new row in this form it is fine.but i don't want to refreshed previously selected data and click on add row button then add new row .how it is possible? plz help

Validate field in tabular forms apex 4.2

Hi.
i need help doing next validations :
1.- i have a product_item field (wich is a lov and user choose one value), so i need to call a function (sending it the selected value product_item) that will return me some data about the product i selected, for example :
if the function return 'A' then
disable the next item on tabular form, lets say quantity
else
enable the next item on tabular form, lets say quantity
end if
2.- i need to determine the result of two items operations:
total := final_quantity - start_quantity
the user will introduce start and final quantity and i will determine the total.
any ideas ?
i am new on apex and need to do this on tabular forms.

Is this a standard APEX tabular form validation, or a custom PL/SQL based validation? It might be easiest to diagnose what's going on there, if you could replicate this issue on apex.oracle.com, and point us to an example.

Initializing the date field in tabular form

i m creating one time sheet application. in that i hv created one tabular form to take timesheet entries. current_date attribute is one of them. the problem is that i want to initialize the current date with the sysdate as the form loads and then afterwards the user can edit the date using the calendar if he wishes to. the current_date type is date picker.
but the before header for computations is not showing thhe item and process is not allowing to create any pl/sql block..can any1 help me?

In the source of the column use PL/SQL Expression or Function and put there
SYSDATE (include some formating if you want). This will set the default value of the
field to what you want once you add new rows.

Display null text field in tabular form

Seems too simple to ask in this forum but I know how to display null for a select list but how can I have a text field display blank instead of '(null)' in a tabular form?

Go edit report attributes and check that attribute "Show Null Values as" do not have any value.

Updating fields on Tabular Forms created with wizards

I have created a Tabular Form using the creation wizard in version 2.0.
When we update database records, we always place a date and a user ID into the record to track the last time updated.
In HTML-DB I typically create an "After Submit" process called "Set Hidden" which updates my items LAST_UPDATE_DATE and LAST_UPDATED_BY.
This works great on non-Tabular forms when I am dealing with one record at a time.
How do I do this on a multi-row tabular form?
Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I assumed a basic familiarity with Oracle and HTML DB development concepts
1. "v" is a HTML DB function to read session state
2. v('APP_USER') will give you the authenticated username of the current session
3. For some reason, if that is blank, the NVL will evaluate to USER which is a builtin Oracle keyword just like SYSDATE. USER evaluates to the userid for the currently connected Oracle user (typically HTMLDB_PUBLIC_USER)
4. FOO is the function which will take the username and convert it to the internal id you seem to want.
5. NVL is a function that evaluates both its arguments and returns the first non-null expression.

I understand that the add row button is currently doing a submit.
To not submit the page you need a dynamic action on the page.
Does the javascript function addRow do what you want?
Otherwise have a look at the following two threads Add row in manual tabular form using dynamic action and Accessing Tabular Form & Add Elements to Collection without Page Submit.
You're process could be something like:
Add the new values to the collection using the idea's in the second thread and at the same time add the new row.
And as second action refresh your tabular form.
If you get stuck set up what you have done on apex.oracle.com using the tables from the demo application.

Select list null value issue - for filtering the tabular form report

hello,
I have a tabular form created on emp table and in the table their are entries for the employees who don't have a location, like it is null for some of the employees.
Now I have created a select list item - for filtering the results based on location.
my select query for select list item is
select distinct location_name d,location_id r from emp order by 1
-- so my select list contains all the distinct location_name including the null on my tabular form.
so based on the selelcted value(in the select list), I am able to filter the results in my tabular form.
but the thing is that when i try to select an null value from my select list - i am not able to filter my report - like its displaying all the records, its not filtering.
can anyone help me out with this.

Use Javascript to disable fields in tabular form built by wizard

i know this type of disable question has been asked before and i have searched the forum thoroughly but the solutions always seem to be for items i.e P1_NAME and i do not have these as my form is built by a select statement
i have worked out the syntax (i think)

to disable and think it goes in the html header or a html region before footer but i cannot work out how to disable the field because i cannot work out how to reference them

the CENTRE_NO field has to be unique , and when i am doing my validation check ,if the user amends the field by accident and then replaces the value it gets an error when it shouldn't
wish it was as simple as forms just change property to update_allowed = false !!

Filling of S table fails for fields with free form text or description

Hello Everyone,
We are trying to rollup a new InfoCube into our BWA system and it fails with a short dump CONVT_CODEPAGE with exception being CX_SY_CONVERSION_CODEPAGE when filling up S table for a description field.
The only difference between the new InfoCube we are trying to load and the other existing InfoCubes is that, the new InfoCube we are trying to load has a field/InfoObject which is free form description for a line item field.
Also, when I checked the application log the system gives out the message "A Character Set conversion is not possible".
Did anyone encounter this issue when trying to create BWA indexes for InfoCubes which have text columns in the InfoCube.
We are currently at revision 52.

It's an interesting and new BWA case for me, so sorry no direct answer. I'll try to replicate it in free time I hope you opened a message with SAP Support for this.
From pure BW modeling perspective I normally model this in a way that this "description" Characteristic A is marked as "Attribute-only" and then used as a display attribute of another Characteristic B, e.g. Line Item Number. From BWA perspective it means that A is not indexed into the accelerator and joined only for display during OLAP time.

Resizable Fields on Tabular Form ?

Hi,
I have a requirement which needs a form to have resizable fields i.e. allow a user to drag and drop or resize the field width with a mouse. Is it possible ? ; and if so, can anyone please explain as to how it could be done.
I was searching the forum and understood that this could be done but could not quite understand HOW !!!

In Client Server you can use the mouse triggers to do this. Check out the forms 6i demos for the drag and drop sample.
On the Web you might be able to do it with a PJC.

Configuring link for draft Adobe Interactive Forms

When a manager fills in an Adobe Form in MSS and clicks on the 'Save Draft' button, the form will appear in the Worklist. How do I find out what iView is called when the link on the draft is clicked when the manager goes to it later?

I did some investigation about the licensing for Adobe forms and i figured out from our SAP Rep that first 20 forms that you change..are free and after that its chargable..You might need to check your SAP Rep to get more insight into it.

Can I make a web link for Imported PDF forms?

I imported a PDF form onto formscentral. When I click the distribute tab I do not get the same options as if I created the form on formscentral. Can I create a web link for my imported PDF form?

No, the Import PDF feature allows you to save a new version of your PDF form that has a "Submit" button that submits the data back to FormsCentral which is available for you to view, analyze and manage on the View Responses tab. It does not provide a "web" version of the form.
In order to make the PDF form available online you will want to create a link to download the PDF and instruct users to fill it out using the free Adobe Reader (or Acrobat), you do not want to allow the PDF to be opened inside of a web browser as that will not work for most users. Select list enable / disable in tabular form

I have created report on (ACT_COA_SEGMENT_MAS) table and this is master table , and created link on this report, when i click on report link, control moves to tabular form that is based on detail table (ACT_SEGMENT_VALUES_MAS)
In master table there is column,
SEGMENT_ID number primary key;
QUALIFIER varchar2(1);
If in master table qualifier column value is 'N' then
then in detail table (ACT_SEGMENT_VALUES_MAS) column account type cannot be null and column should enable.
If in master table QUALIFIER column value other than 'N' then Account column in detail table should disable . and value should not be enterable.
and ACCOUNT_TYPE column in deatil table is a select list.
How i can do this?

How i can do this?One way - sadly a bit of work - would be to use APEX_APPLICATION_ITEM to generated the detail items as a manual tablular form where you can control the disabled property when generating the tabular form fields using CASE statements, writing manual PL/SQL processes and the built-in APEX_ITEM collection to manually perform insert/update/delete operations on submit. Check the documentation for the full syntax of using APEX_ITEM functions to generate HTML items.
An example from the Oracle docs looks like
