Link in report region

Hi,
I have report region(type=sql query). In that report region i want to add a hyperlink(View all). When user clicks on the hyperlink it should bring them to another page. Can anyone help me in this issue. i am using apex4.0.

Where can i find button classIn the button template
Usually(depend's on the theme) redirect buttons template are link tags with some class that styles them like a button. Else you can create such a button template(by copying it from another theme) without any styling
For example a button template like
<a #BUTTON_ATTRIBUTES# class="" href="#LINK#">#LABEL#would render the button like a plain link

• Cannot create link in report region!

Hello Everyone,
I have developed a region in Page 0 which holds the page items of a JQuery Dialog Box and javascript fuctions( dispAudit_p(), dispAudit_r()) to pass value between the page and the dialog box.
Now! In my actual page i have a master detail page regions.
I created a button in the master region which calls the dispAudit_p() function and works perfectly.
In the detail region i modified the query to have a dummy column - i want this field as a link or an image which calls the function dispAudit_r().
I tried the display element as Text Field for the dummy column and in the Element Attribute i called the js using onfocus, it just worked fine.
But when i tried link column option it shows the dialog box but the values are "undefined".
Please let me know hoe to solve this. The following is the JavaScript:

I have added the region of tpye HTML and entered the query in the source section.
How do link this detail region with the master region. That is join the detail to query after the master based on the master row selected.

• Make header links in PPR report region

I have a tabular form, and for several headers, I created a popup help page, and call the popup with a javascript function in the header. The html for my headers in the Report Attributes is as follows:

<a title="Click for RAC Explanation" href="javascript:RAChelp();">RAC</a>

However, when I hover over the link, the following shows up on the info bar at the bottom of the browser:

javascript:html_PPR_Report_page(this,'R3784527397717439',javascript:RAChelp();')

So when I click the header, I get this error message:

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
mod_plsql: /pls/htmldb/f HTTP-400 Missing '=' in query string or post form

What the heck is going on? Is there a way to get around this or do I need to abandon using a PPR Report region for this tabular form?

thanks!

PPR or not, the standard UI convention for clicking on a report heading is to sort by that column!
Besides, unless you have enabled column header sorting by checking the Sort checkbox under Report Attributes, the column header is not even a clickable link, so I dont see how it would show that html_PPR... link.
If you have enabled column header sorting, the #COLUMN_HEADER# substitution string in the report template automatically embeds the sorting link markup around the column header you specify. So, you cannot specify a A tag as your column header since that would nest A tags (not allowed)
Note this has nothing to do with PPR, it is a (undesirable) interaction between column header sorting and your wanting to have column headers show your own help window.
Simple solution: Just turn off column header sorting for those columns and you should be fine.
Hope this helps.

• How to - link from HTML Region to Report Column?

Dear Apex gurus,
Ok, I'll go straight to my question. I have a file upload page with Report Region (conditional) which comes up after file uploading process. Under Report I have a column to delete uploaded file (column has an image in link, target in application, item name: P2_DELETE_ID and value: #DOC_ID#). Basically the Report picks up just uploaded file ID and allows me to delete the file by having Hiden Page Item (P2_DELETE_ID) and Before Header Process:
BEGIN
DELETE FROM EBA_ASSET_ORDER_TEMP_DOCS
WHERE doc_id = :P2_DELETE_ID;
END;with condition: Value in Expression 1 is Not Null, and Expression 1 set to:
P2_DELETE_IDI have and another conditional Region (which is HTML) and it comes up after file uploading process as well. The region Source is:
<div id="FinalMessage"></div>
<br />
<div ><a href="javascript:confirmFileDelete(htmldb_delete_message,'f?p=&APP_ID.:2:&SESSION.:REMOVE_ID:::P2_DELETE_ID:#DOC_ID#');"><img >src="/i/delete.gif" style="position: relative; top: 1px;"/>Remove Uploaded File</a>
</div>where id="FinalMessage" - is the Sucess/Error message from JS
and .....href="javascript:confirmFileDelete....... - is my actual question. So, I am trying to hide my Report Region and show only my HTML region where I will be able using this (.....href....) link delete file from my table. I am able to dele file using report colum link but my .....href.... link dosnt want to delete my file, doen't even want to pick up file ID. Is there a way where I can link my .....href.... link to pull from Report Column????
Thanks

I am getting crazy now:
It gives me an error message whan I am trying to add RETURN to my process, here is my process, seems to be fine and I can fined what is going on, may be I am blind:
DECLARE
n_size NUMBER;
v_filename VARCHAR2(500);
P2_FILE_INPUT VARCHAR2(1000) := v('P2_FILE_INPUT');
BEGIN

SELECT ID, P2_FILE_INPUT, BLOB_CONTENT, mime_type, CREATED_ON, DOC_SIZE, FILENAME
FROM apex_application_files
WHERE NAME = P2_FILE_INPUT
RETURNING DOC_ID INTO :P2_DELETE_ID;

• Classic report regions not executing queries after clicking in a chart link

I have a chart region with a link to page passing values to select list items, but report regions are not loading.
This is the link generated at chart series:

All page items passed are filled correctly, but report regions don't show any data.
Please notice I am using two LOV where second one is showing values according the first one selected and doing the submit event where report regions are showing the result of the queries executed.
Report regions shows data when I do the select of page items manually, but not when I pass those values thru link url

• SQL Report Region

Hi,
I am using apex 4.0.1 and I have a page with several SQL Report regions. The user can edit the data in the report regions by clicking a column that uses a href link to open a DML page in a modal window. The user can then amend some data in the modal window, press save which closes the modal window and uses the partial page refresh process to refresh the SQL report region. (Using apex.event.trigger('#SOME_REGION'),'apexrefresh')).
If I navigate through the report to show rows 31-45 and then click on a href to edit a record. On pressing save, the report is refreshed but the rows displayed goes back to 1-15.
How can I get the report to stay showing the rows 31-45?
Cheers
Paul.

I believe this answers my question

• Link in report with SSP enabled

Hey everyone, I have a question here involving programatically generated links in reports from the sql query behind them. How do I make a link to the page (from the report's sql query) that will allow me to change the value of a hidden and protected item (P16_PERSON_CONTACT_ID) without having APEX Session State Protection get angry at me and still protect me from having the user muck with the URL?

David,
Well bind variables are more performant and safer to use in queries. It shouldn't really be a debate on when to use them, you always use them when you can. Here's a quick break down (not a complete list, and should probably be expanded, but should get you going)...
Use bind variable syntax when you're referencing an item:
1. In a report query
2. In PL/SQL code that is stored in the application (as a page level process for example)
Use substitution variable syntax when you're referencing an item:
1. Outside of SQL and PL/SQL but still need the value - this is not always an option (in the HTML Header region of a page or title of a region for example)
Use V and NV functions when you're referencing an item:
1. In PL/SQL code stored outside the application (in a package for example)

• How to create a report region which the first colomn is row selector column

I want to create a report region and its first column is a row selector column. I have used select sentence to select some columns. But I do not know how set the first column to row selector column. I mean I want to do as follow. When a radio which is first column is chosen, it will return it's value of the column in the chosen row. Please help me! Thanks

Hi unnamed,
Suppose you have an id that identifies your record.
Go to Report definiton, tab report attirbutes.
Select the id of your record.
Create a link to the page you want to go to.
Hope this helps.
If not, I suggest you to create a from with report, and analyze the way the wizard has generated it.

• How to display the items in a Report Region

Is it possiable to have the fields in a report region based on an sql query be display in somthing other than a row? For example if I have a Report Region with four columns it will look something like:
<Field 1, row 1 value> <Field 2, row 1 value> <Field 3, row 1 value> <Field 4, row 1 value>
<Field 1, row 2 value> <Field 2, row 2 value> <Field 3, row 2 value> <Field 4, row 2 value>
<Field 1, row 3 value> <Field 2, row 3 value> <Field 3, row 3 value> <Field 4, row 3 value>
etc
Is it possiable to tell ApEx to display the Report Region like:
<Field 1, row 1 value> <Field 2, row 1 value>
<Field 3, row 1 value> <Field 4, row 1 value>
<Field 1, row 2 value> <Field 2, row 2 value>
<Field 3, row 2 value> <Field 4, row 2 value>
<Field 1, row 3 value> <Field 2, row 3 value>
<Field 3, row 3 value> <Field 4, row 3 value>
etc
Maybe there is a nother way to do this that uses somthing other than an sql based report region. Thanks very much for the help.

This can be done using a SQL query report region with a [custom report template|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e11838/themes.htm#sthref1744].
Unfortunately the documentation is not particularly helpful on this topic, and as use cases tend to be very specific, reusable solutions are rarely shared in the community ("custom" reports after all...) See [this thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1569996] for a good discussion of the technique, with a link to an example on apex.oracle.com.
A response to [another recent thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1012690] showed another example on page 1 of the [Online Store demo app|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/packaged_apps/packaged_apps.html#STORE], which you can download, install and examine. This uses a custom report template in conjunction with the report HTML Expression feature.
(I'm not totally clear on the display you're after: it might help to repost it using some example data rather than the abstract <Field 2, row 1 value> approach. Wrap the sample in \...\ tags to get fixed width characters that can be made to align, if that will help.)

• Current value of a column.row in a Report region

Hi
I have a report that I want to display a single row per page. No problem there. I also want to show, in a separate region below the value of two specific columns for that row (they are large text items that I want to show as text areas).
My problem is how to have the source of the text area data items match the current report row above. What I want is sort of;
SELECT TEXTFIELDNAME FROM TABLE WHERE KEY = value from column1 in the report above above (like the #EMPNO# notation when linking a report column to another page)
Or maybe there is a better way ?
Any pointers much appreciated.
Jules

Hi Jules,
As always you've some options to achieve what you would like to do.
If you know AJAX, you could do it that why, if not an "easier" why of doing it:
1) Create an hidden item
2) In your report make a link to the same page, but give as parameter the hidden item with the pk as value
3) In your where clause of your select to fill in the text area, you search for the hidden item (WHERE key = :HIDDEN_ITEM)
Hope that helps,
Dimitri

• How to remove hyperlink in Reports Region

How to remove hyperlink in a Report region (Based on some filter condition)
Example : In Report Region, I am getting value as 10, 20, 30, 0, 44, 55, 0
In the above value, I need to remove the hyperlink for 0 values.
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Balaji S

If you want a link column for values other than 0 and a blank for those with 0 then the best way to do this is to use a case or a decode to return a LINK image or text to a hidden column; I usually return the Edit icon only. You can then use the 'column link' region on a different column to create a link in the usual way and set the Link Text to the hidden column (e.g. #EDIT# in the example below). If you have set the target page to require a Checksum this will then be added without having to code it into your sql. E.g.
SELECT some_columns,
CASE WHEN numcol != 0 THEN ''
ELSE null
END "EDIT"
FROM your_tableIf you want the same column value, but those of 0 to not have a link and those other than 0 to have a link then you need to code the link into your sql. e.g.
SELECT some_columns,
DECODE (numcol,0,numcol,''||numcol||'') "EDIT"
FROM your_table# = your URL e.g f?p=&APP_ID.:11:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:11::
If you require a checksum on the link you need to add the apex_util.prepare_url function to the URL.
Cheers
Shunt
