Travel expense are integrated to payroll via wage types.
Hence you need to check what is the expense type mapping to wage types, then you can see in pc_payresult.

  • Simple Query in Oracle Linked Table in MS Access causes full table scan.

    I am running a very simple query in MS ACCESS to a linked Oracle table as follows:
    Select *
    From EXPRESS_SERVICE_EVENTS --(the linked table name refers to EXPRESS.SERVICE_EVENTS)
    Where performed > MyDate()
    or
    Select *
    From EXPRESS_SERVICE_EVENTS --(the linked table name refers to EXPRESS.SERVICE_EVENTS)
    Where performed > [Forms]![MyForm]![Date1]
    We have over 50 machines and this query runs fine on over half of these, using an Oracle Index on the "performed" field. Running exactly the same thing on the other machines causes a full table scan, therefore ignoring the Index (all machines access the same Access DB).
    Strangely, if we write the query as follows:
    Select *
    From EXPRESS_SERVICE_EVENTS
    Where performed > #09/04/2009 08:00#
    it works fast everywhere!
    Any help on this 'phenominon' would be appreciated.
    Things we've done:
    Checked regional settings, ODBC driver settings, MS Access settings (as in Tools->Options), we have the latest XP and Office service packs, and re-linked all Access Tables on both the slow and fast machines independantly).

    Primarily, thanks gdarling for your reply. This solved our problem.
    Just a small note to those who may be using this thread.
    Although this might not be the reason, my PC had Oracle 9iR2 installed with Administratiev Tools, where user machines had the same thing installed but using Runtime Installation. For some reason, my PC did not have 'bind date' etc. as an option in the workarounds, but user machines did have this workaround option. Strangely, although I did not have the option, my (ODBC) query was running as expected, but user queries were not.
    When we set the workaround checkbox accordingly, the queries then run as expected (fast).
    Once again,
    Thanks

    Please help me!
    Thanks!

    Hi ,

  • Query builder and multiple linked tables...

    Hi all,
    I have a database with a large table (50+ fields) and lots of tables (at
    least 10 tables) linked to the bigger one.
    I can link 7 or 8 tables using Query builder but after that, it gets slow
    and slower.
    I can't link other tables since it appear to hang.
    How can I solve this?
    Here is a sample of the large table (articles):
    - id_art
    - code_art
    - material_id_art (fk)
    - color_id_art (fk)
    - finishing_id_art /fk)
    - and so on... with other fields set as foreign keys.
    The color table is:
    - id_col
    - colid_col
    - name_col
    - language_col
    The table view is:
    id_col colid_col name_col language_col
    1 1 rosso it
    2 1 red uk
    3 1 rojo es
    The other tables follow the same color table specification.
    I would like to obtain all articles with color_id_art field equal to the
    color.colid_col field AND color.language_col equal to a session variable
    (language). This session variable contains 'it', 'uk', or 'es', depending
    on user selection on other pages.
    I can use query builder to do something similar with few tables but when
    the linked tables are 10 or more the query builder began to slow down too
    much and is totally unusable.
    Is there a way to create such a query manually?
    I'm not a SQl programmer so, I have not all the knowledge to do this.
    Can anyone point me in the right direction or point me to some tutorial
    about such a problem?
    I thank you in advance.
    tony

    Ciao Tony,
    Well, the main table is 4000+ records
    I´ve heard of other users having similar issues with this (or more) amount of data, what´s not surprising, because every time you´re making a change to your query, the Query Builder tries to refresh the browser
    I think that the problem is related to too much inner joins and too many WHERE clauses with AND condition
    maybe this might add to the problem, but I´m pretty convinced that the major bottleneck is the substantial amount of records your main table has.
    Günter, can I ask you how would you manage a multilingual product catalog where the main table (products) has lots of linked details tables (color, finishing, structure...) to be translated on a number of languages?
    this is indeed a little tricky by nature, however I think that storing e.g. all the international color names in a table is too complicated, when you could simply...
    a) check the currently running language session variable
    b) define a PHP if/else condition which will "virtually" translate the stored "id_col" values, example:
    if ($_session['language'] == "uk") {
    $pattern = array("1", "2", "3", "4");
    $replace = array("red", "blue", "black"', "green");
    $colors = str_replace($pattern, $replace, $row_queryname['columnname']);
    else {
    $pattern = array("1", "2", "3", "4");
    $replace = array("rosso", "blu", "nero"', "verde");
    $colors = str_replace($pattern, $replace, $row_queryname['columnname']);
    3. later in your page "echo" the alias variable $colors, which should return different results depending on the currently active language session variable
    Cheers,

  • Multiple Table Query

    Hey All!
    It's been a while since I last posted a message in these
    forums. But it looks like I need your help again.
    So here is the problem:
    I have to create a list of the companies' projects, yet to
    compile the complete list I have to query 4 tables, with a one to
    many and many to many relation ship.
    Here is what I have so far.
    the main table is the projects table, hence I start with
    that. Right now I can query the table, plus the companies table
    that each project is linked to. Also, each project may have a link
    to multiple companies, so I normalized the data by creating a
    companies link table:
    SELECT projects.project_id, project.project_name,
    compproj_link.company_id
    /* I only get the company id and convert it to an actual
    name when I output */
    FROM projects LEFT JOIN compproj_link ON
    compproj_link.project_id = projects.project_id
    /* here I also filter to get only active projects */
    WHERE project.status in(1,2)
    /* I group by the project id since there might be several
    companies linked to a specific project */
    GROUP BY projects.project_id, project.project_name,
    compproj_link.company_id
    ORDER BY project_name
    This works perfectly fine when I output with the group
    attribute, but now I have to link another table... called the
    airdates. The reason is that I want to order my list by the
    contents of this table (which may or may not be present)...
    this airdates that is linked to my projects is structured
    like so:
    airdates
    airdates_id - auto num
    project_id - the project it is linked to hence could be
    linked to many projects
    then there are the actual air dates
    airdateslist
    airdateslist_id auto num
    airdates_id - since for each air date record could be
    multiple dates
    airdate_date - date field
    airdate_backupdate - another date field
    airdate_current - this is a yes/no, and specifies whether
    this date is most current.
    Hence, by doing two more LEFT OUTER JOINS in my main query
    would work fine, BUT I need to get the most current date from the
    airdateslist that is set for a particular project. and when I do
    this I get no records because as of yet, no project has an airdate
    that is current.
    So my question is if I can somehow add those airdates tables
    to my main query, and be able to sort by the current date, IF it is
    present, and if not, still have all my projects displayed?
    PS. I think I have confused myself even more when writing
    this out, so if you have any questions please write. Thank you in
    advance!
    Vega...

    First, this:
    * I group by the project id since there might be several
    companies linked to a specific project */
    GROUP BY projects.project_id, project.project_name,
    compproj_link.company_id
    doesn't accomplish anything.
    Second, when I read what you posted about the two airdates
    tables, I'm not convinced that the table structure achieves what
    the comments and fieldnames describe as the objective.
    You say none of your projects have a current airdate. Do
    these tables have any data at all? If not, it's going to be hard to
    write a query when you can't ensure you got the correct
    results.

  • How to Bind a Combo Box so that it retrieves and display content corresponding to the Id in a link table and populates itself with the data in the main table?

    I am developing a desktop application in Wpf using MVVM and Entity Frameworks. I have the following tables:
    1. Party (PartyId, Name)
    2. Case (CaseId, CaseNo)
    3. Petitioner (CaseId, PartyId) ............. Link Table
    I am completely new to .Net and to begin with I download Microsoft's sample application and
    following the pattern I have been successful in creating several tabs. The problem started only when I wanted to implement many-to-many relationship. The sample application has not covered the scenario where there can be a any-to-many relationship. However
    with the help of MSDN forum I came to know about a link table and managed to solve entity framework issues pertaining to many-to-many relationship. Here is the screenshot of my application to show you what I have achieved so far.
    And now the problem I want the forum to address is how to bind a combo box so that it retrieves Party.Name for the corresponding PartyId in the Link Table and also I want to populate it with Party.Name so that
    users can choose one from the dropdown list to add or edit the petitioner.

    Hello Barry,
    Thanks a lot for responding to my query. As I am completely new to .Net and following the pattern of Microsoft's Employee Tracker sample it seems difficult to clearly understand the concept and implement it in a scenario which is different than what is in
    the sample available at the link you supplied.
    To get the idea of the thing here is my code behind of a view vBoxPetitioner:
    <UserControl x:Class="CCIS.View.Case.vBoxPetitioner"
    xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
    xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
    xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006"
    xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008"
    xmlns:v="clr-namespace:CCIS.View.Case"
    xmlns:vm="clr-namespace:CCIS.ViewModel.Case"
    mc:Ignorable="d"
    d:DesignWidth="300"
    d:DesignHeight="200">
    <UserControl.Resources>
    <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type vm:vmPetitioner}">
    <v:vPetitioner Margin="0,2,0,0" />
    </DataTemplate>
    </UserControl.Resources>
    <Grid>
    <HeaderedContentControl>
    <HeaderedContentControl.Header>
    <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" HorizontalAlignment="Right">
    <TextBlock Margin="2">
    <Hyperlink Command="{Binding Path=AddPetitionerCommand}">Add Petitioner</Hyperlink>
    | <Hyperlink Command="{Binding Path=DeletePetitionerCommand}">Delete</Hyperlink>
    </TextBlock>
    </StackPanel>
    </HeaderedContentControl.Header>
    <ListBox BorderThickness="0" SelectedItem="{Binding Path=CurrentPetitioner, Mode=TwoWay}" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=tblParties}" />
    </HeaderedContentControl>
    </Grid>
    </UserControl>
    This part is working fine as it loads another view that is vPetioner perfectly in the manner I want it to be.

    Dim e As tblParty = TryCast(detail, tblParty)
    If e IsNot Nothing Then
    Return New vmPetitioner(e)
    End If
    Return Nothing
    End Function
    End Class
    End Namespace
    And final the code behind of the view vPetitioner:
    <UserControl x:Class="CCIS.View.Case.vPetitioner"
    xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
    xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
    xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006"

    <ResourceDictionary Source=".\CompactFormStyles.xaml" />
    </UserControl.Resources>
    <Grid>
    <Border Style="{StaticResource DetailBorder}">
    <Grid>
    <Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
    <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto" />
    <ColumnDefinition Width="*" />
    </Grid.ColumnDefinitions>
    <TextBlock Grid.Column="0" Text="Petitioner:" />
    <ComboBox Grid.Column="1" Width="240" SelectedValuePath="." SelectedItem="{Binding Path=tblParty}" ItemsSource="{Binding Path=PetitionerLookup}" DisplayMemberPath="fldName" />
    </Grid>
    </Border>
    </Grid>
    </UserControl>
    The problem, presumably, seems to be is that the binding path "PetitionerLookup" of the ItemSource of the Combo box in the view vPetitioner exists in a different ViewModel vmCase which serves as an ObservableCollection for MainViewModel. Therefore,
    what I need to Know is how to route the binding path if it exists in a different ViewModel?
    Sir, I look forward to your early reply bringing a workable solution to the problem I face.

  • Inner Join of 3 tables is correct or not?

    Hi Guys ,
                 I have a requirement where i have to join 3 tables i  dont know whether the inner Join which i wrote for 3 tables is correct or not.I am not getting any Syntax error but whether the logci below which i wrote gets all the records or not.
    The Requirement is
    "c.     Select the BOL Number entered in the screen and query the table LIKP with the BOL number in the field LIKP-BOLNR.  Gather the list of ALL delivery documents (LIKP-VBELN) that is outputted.
    d.     Query the list of the delivery documents obtained into the table VBFA in the field VBFA- VBELV.  From the output that is displayed, select the Follow-On Document Field (VBFA-VBELN) for that item whose Subsequent Document Category (VBFA- VBTYP_N) is R and the Movement Type (VBFA- BWART) is 641.  Get the Follow-On document number for each of the above Delivery Document number.
    e.     Query the table EKBE with the Follow On document obtained above in the field Material Document (EKBE- BELNR).  Perform this activity for each of the follow on document obtained above.  Get the resultant Purchase Order (EKBE-EBELN) and Item Number (EKBE-EBELP) from the query.  After querying will all the Follow-On Documents, get the unique list of PO number and Item Number.
    The logic which i wrote is
                    Begin of t_PoolSTO_out,
                  BOLNR type LIKP-BOLNR,
                  EBELN type EKBE-EBELN,
                  EBELP type EKBE-EBELP,
                  VBELN type LIKP-VBELN,
                  VBELNV type VBFA-VBELN,
             End of t_PoolSTO_out.
          Data: i_PoolSTO type Standard table of t_PoolSTO_out.
      Select
            a~BOLNR
            c~EBELN
            c~EBELP
            a~VBELN
            b~VBELN
            from LIKP as a
            Inner Join VBFA as b on aVBELN = bVBELV
            Inner Join EKBE as c on bVBELN = cBELNR
            into Table i_PoolSTO
            Where a~BOLNR in S_LBLNE and
                  b~VBTYP_N = 'R' and
                  b~BWART = '641'.
              My doubt is whether the logic works or not i Mean does i getall the rrecords based on the requirement.?
                      If not please tell any alternative logic?
    Thanks,
    Gopi Anne.

    Hi Gopi,
    Your code is Good.
    But try to avoid Inner join with more number of Tables ...because this is a performance issue..
    try to use..
    select (primary key fields mainly,other fields) from LIKP into itab where bolnr in p_bolnr(paramater).
    next try to use for all entries option..
    select (primary key fields mainly,other fields) from VBFA for all entries in itab where (give the condition)....
    simillarly do for the other select ....ok this will try to reduce the performance issue....

  • I urgently need to find out how to apply behaviour to images in my webpage. Created with dreamweaver and linked J Query stylesheets.

    I have created a web page with a photo gallery of thumbnails that link to bigger images when you hover over them. When the bigger image opens there is an odd shape at the bottom right hand side , that when pressed, will take me back to the home page. But its not the correct sought of button or symbol. I dont know how to set this up properly. I have linked J.Query style sheets. But must have missed something. Can anyone help??? this is my first web page design. It is all done except for this.

    Very sensible advice. However, the second sentence in the following statement is incorrect:
    1.  Make sure that you have updated all recordsets to the latest (CS4) version. Older ones created before the GetSQLValueString function was introduced are vulnerable.
    The GetSQLValueString() function has always existed in Dreamweaver server behavior code. However, versions of this function prior to Dreamweaver 8.0.2 are vulnerable to SQL injection.
    Unfortunately, you can't update older server behaviors simply by deleting the old version of the function and replacing it with one from DW 8.0.2 or later. Other small changes were made in the server behavior code for compatibility with the revised function. PHP server behaviors created prior to DW 8.0.2 need to be deleted and rebuilt. Yes, it's a pain, but far less of a pain than being hacked.

  • Linked tables, stored procedures, and locking

    I'm working on an interface between two Oracle systems. I don't know if they're on the same server or not, but they are definitely two different database instances. The plan for this interface is that when a record is created on one of the systems, it will call a stored procedure on the other system to create the record there as well. I believe the relevant information will be passed via parameters to the stored procedure (not by querying the data in the first system). The ID number created on the second system gets passed back to the first system via an output parameter.
    A concern was raised about whether something like this might cause "rev-locking". Similar issues were raised on a different interface, but that interface used a linked table between the two systems. The original design for that interface had a stored procedure initiated from the second system, and it was to update data via the linked table in the first system. But this caused some locking issues. So a different interface was written, that only used the linked table as read-only.
    So the question is, do stored procedure calls between linked databases have the same issues as updates directly to linked tables? And a better question is, is there a document or white paper out there somewhere that describes the locking issues between linked databases, and presenting the "best practices" for this type of coding?
    Any help is appreciated!

    So the question is, do stored procedure calls between linked databases have the same issues as updates directly to linked tables? I'm not aware of any issues with updates across databases. can you post a more detail version of what exact issues did you encounter when updating tables across database using database links?
    when you update a row in a table, from the same database or another one, a lock on that row will be placed for the duration of the transaction. Others will be able to read that row but not update it till the end of the local (or the remote) transaction.
    What issue(s) did you encounter?

  • Linked Tables in Access DB

    I connect to a remote db using odbc connection. All the
    tables in the db are linked and I am able to write my CF code to
    read the tables and produce reports, etc. Now another person has
    gone directly into Access and created a query with some of the
    linked tables, and with data from an excel spreadsheet. Since the
    query is already built and runs, they want me to take the query and
    put it in a CF application so that CF can run it. I am able to
    create a table (not linked) in the db and import the data from
    excel to populate the table, but when I run CF with the query, it
    does not like the table that I created, which I named tblSS_PO.
    Here is the error :
    Error Diagnostic Information
    ODBC Error Code = S0002 (Base table not found)
    [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid object
    name 'tblSS_PO'.
    Does it not like it because the table I built is not linked
    and not part of the original db ? Anyone with any ideas on how I
    can solve this problem ? It seems like the data from excel will be
    a consistent thing, all I need to do is plug it in each time and
    run the query but I cannot get it to work. Thanks for any help.

    You have to have the same version of the access file on the
    remote server
    (one CF is connecting to) as you have on your local system.
    Just changing
    your local access file does not change the remote file. you
    have to upload
    your Access file just like you have to upload your site
    pages.

  • How do make link between query and UDF

    How do you link a query to your UDF after you created the query and the UDF?
    Also do you have to set the UDF as type "general", and "link"?
    Please take me thru step?

    oh good - a discussion about whether to use "link" or "image" when having an image connected to a product!!!
    Billy and Suda - We had fun with this one some time ago in a project collecting additional data and images for the customer's products on the market.  As we were ramping up the project, we tried both ways of connecting an image to a product and there was a few drawbacks we found with using the UDF type of "General" and "Image":
    1.  The image was placed directly on the UDF portion on the Item Master - they were working in large TIFF (?) formats and the picture just looked horrible.  The approving manager could not tell if the image should be approved for press or not.  When he double-clicked on the image in the UDF portion it brought up another SAP window that wasn't quite crystal clear.
    2.  The image took up so much room on the UDF portion of the Item Master that the data entry personnel had to constantly scroll down to enter the other data points (color, size, branded promo, mixture, etc - there were about 12 fields).  Talk about being ticked!
    3.  While using the "General" and "Link" it addressed those concerns BUT there was one extra enormous advantage with this General/Link method.  When the image was brought up, it opened up the image automatically in a standard picture editor/manager program.  If they liked what they saw, they continued foward with the approval of the image for press runs.  If they did not like the image, they were able to manipulate the image at the moment and then follow through with approval (time saver for sure!).
    I am sure it all boils down to what the customer requirements are, but some other clients I demoed this to wanted to switch immediately after seeing that!  But definitely something to think about if you are planning on connecting an image to a product...
    Oh and she really is correct, Billy - I have never heard of anyone linking a query to a "link" or "image" type...I don' t know how you would even do that as the "link" or "image" selection leads you directly into the attachment and/or storage path and location...
    take care - Zal

  • JOINING local table and DB Link table performance

    Hellou everybody,
    can somebody tell me how it is work in Oracle DB when you want to join some local table and DB Link table for example:
    Select a.col1, b.col2
    from local_table a , remote_table@dblink b
    where a.key = b.key;
    and when I use DRIVING_SITE hint and the all data from remote table is transforming (pushing) into my DB (in some temporar space), it will transform although Indexes from remote table?
    So when I use some JOINS, this joins will be fast enought? Will they using remote table indexes to query the data or not?
    Thank you for response.

  • Oracle 11gr2 ODBC - error updating linked table (Ora 01722 and 01461)

    Good day folks,
    My shop has just moved to 11gR2 client and server. We were previously using 11gR1 with no issues (and before that, 10, 9, 8, etc). After moving from 11r1 to 11r2, we began getting errors from some of our MS Access ODBC applications with linked Oracle tables. The error would occur when executing an UPDATE statement that had a table join in it. Here is a simple example:
    UPDATE TableX SET TableX.Fieldx = “valuex” WHERE TableX.Fieldx = TableZZZ.Fieldx AND TableZZZ.fieldzzz is not null
    Currently, after moving to 11r2 client, an update query like the one above will error out in one of the following ways:
    - odbc -- update on a linked table failed - Ora 01722 invalid number
    - ORA-01461: can bind a LONG value only for insert into a LONG column
    - Or it will say that the records were not updated because they are locked.
    In some cases, I have noticed some records being updated that were not supposed to be updated.. records that the where clause was meant to exclude. That is very unsettling.
    I understand that perhaps an update statement shouldn’t be joining table and perhaps it should be done over a couple calls, but the reality is – this code is out there in abundance and if there is a solution that doesn’t amount to my changing all this code or reverting to 11gR1, I would love to find it.
    Since the query runs fine using SQL Plus and also runs fine if I run it against a local table in Access rather than a linked Oracle table – I figured the issue was possibly with the Oracle 11r2 ODBC driver. So, I switched the Oracle ODBC driver (sqora32.dll version 11.2.0.1 with version 11.1.0.7), and the problem went away.
    I believe this verifies the issue resides with Oracle ODBC version 11.2.0.1. Can anyone help? I'm assuming it's not particularly wise to simply swap sqora32.dll files on all my clients machines, so I am searching for an actual solution here instead.
    I also did performed ODBC tracing to see what Access is handing to the Oracle ODBC driver. I then used database or SQLNet tracing to see what the ODBC driver was handing off to SQLNet/database.
    The results are in the following post:
    Thanks guys!!

  • MS Access Linked Tables

    I have an MS Access database that I have no choice but to use, and the powers that
    be won't move it to Oracle anytime soon. I'm working on my own workstation running
    a Tomcat 4.1.31 Server.
    The database is on a network share and links tables from another network directory.
    I defined a System DSN to the "main" access database to access it via the
    JDBC/ODBC Bridge. However, when I try access a query using a "linked" table from
    the other Access database, I get a ServletException:
    Access Driver The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file
    "\\share\database2.mdb".  It is already opened exclusively by another user, or
    you need permission to view its dataIs there a way to make this work? I cannot modify the current setup or configuration
    of either Access database (if I could have, I would already have taken the virtual axe
    to it).

    >
    Is there a way to make this work?You start by looking at the enviroment, not java.
    First are you running tomcat as a service? When a service starts up it starts up in an enviroment. Just as when you log in your have an enviroment. And you need to be in the same environment for you to verify access. Changing the service to use a user will often help this.
    Once you have looked at the above then log in as the user (on the same computer) that the service runs as. Using dir from a console verify that you can see the file. If you can't dir the file then tomcat can't access it.
    After that then use the MS Access GUI to access that file. Verify that you can view it and modify it.
