Link to an external website based on form item

Hello,
How to create a link to an external site based on the value of a read only item in a form?
I have a read only form (not a report because of layout issues) which presents address information. One of the items contains a site-address. Is it possible to present this field in a way users can click on it to navigate to the site?
Thank you,
Philip

Thank you Varad,
The data source for the item P21_WEB_SITE is a database column (a varchar2(100) ).
I created a second item where the data source is based on a PL/SQL Function Body:
declare
lv_return VARCHAR2(500);
begin
lv_return := '&lta href="http://'
||:P21_WEB_SITE
||'/"'
||'target="_blank"'
||'&gt'
||:P21_WEB_SITE
||'&lt/a&gt'
return lv_return;
end;
Property Display as = Display as text (does not save state)
So problem solved !

  • Why, after selecting it as a link to an external website, does the word disappear under a black box

    I would like to create a link to an external website.  But when I select the words and then type the url containing http:// in the "Link" field, the words disappear under a black box.  How do I correct this?

    Hello Nancy O:
        Without the link applied, the page looks fine in the browser.  But I am trying to figure out what is going on in the CSS file that would cause this.  When I move the mouse over the design view, I notice that outlines forming boxes appear.  They overlap the text that I want to create a link with.  I tried deleting a box that overlapped the text, but doing so didn't work. I tried increasing the z index, but that didn't work.  I tried applying an id instead of a class, but that also didn't work.  I'll keep working on the css file.  Thank you.

  • Link to Who-is-who from XML Form item

    How can I make a link from a user name to the user details of the who is who from a XML Form item? I see this functionality automatically in KM collection renderers but in the XML Form Builder I only see the option to link to the e-mail (Display name as E-mail link).
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Eric

    Eric,
    adding a link to user details in a XMLForm item is not possible at the moment.
    But this a reasonable request and maybe we can add this feature in one of the next SPs or release.

  • DDF LOV-Query based on Form Items

    Lets suppose if i queried one invoice detail which has 6 items, on every item row i displayed my DFF and when i click on it it displayed me previous purchase rates recpective to the item and vendor in DFF value set LOV.
    How can i do that ?.....
    Any idea and suggusions would be appriciatable ..

    Hi Anwar
    You can make your flex field on basis of form field. You can use it like :block.field in the where clause.
    I have done it in FORMS UI but I am not sure how it will work in OA Pages if you are displaying the same DFF there.
    For complete reference of this you can go through the FlexFields User Guide at following location.

  • Bookmark linking to external website

    Hi everyone,
    I have a list of bookmarks that were created automatically from a table contents when I exported an indesign file to pdf. I need to manually add another bookmark in the pdf which I was able to do but I also need this new bookmark to be a link to an external website.
    I wondered if it was possible to do this and if so how I'd go about it?
    Appreciate any advice.

    It is, but only if you do it using a script, not through the built-in "Open a web link"-action. Add a "Run a JavaScript"-action with this code:
    app.launchURL("http://www.google.com", true);
    Of course, you can change the URL to whatever you want.

  • Hyperlink from MY website to a specific area on EXTERNAL website

    i was hoping to use an HTML snippet to accomplish this on iWeb. i've spent several hours on google, and this forum too but found NOBODY addressing this:
    i need to create a hyperlink from MY website to an external url. the external page needs to open at a very specific area on the page. i see that this is done on hand-coded websites.
    most iWeb discussions were about hyperlinking to lower down on the same page or within the same website where 'anchors' can be used. obviously that can't be done when linking to an external website.

    Cyclosaurus i appreciate your quick advice.
    the external site i am targeting is:

    scrolling down the page, i want to land on this sub-headline beginning at "Rome, Italy"

    if that site is coded so that it can work, i would so greatly appreciate it if you can indicate the actual HTML to put inside the snippet --- i'm an artist, and the rigid 'science' of code is always a challenge. thanks again

  • Invalid parameters request by calling from an external website

    Hello,
    i have a problem calling a Bi-Publisher report via "Link" from an external website.
    I get the following error-message: *"Invalid parameters requested."*
    There are two parameters. The first one is a line_id and the second one is a head_id.
    Before calling the template there is a insert-Sql-statement on the database (initiated from the external website).
    Because of that there are new values in the table of the LOVs.
    I think the problem is that the LOVs of the parameters are inconsistence. The values are out of date.
    After waiting several hours the error message disappears and the report could be called from the external website.
    Is there a way to refresh the parameters before calling the report from an external website?
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks ahead for any ideas, solutions or workarounds!

    I found the problem: Its due to the menue-parameters and their List-Of-Values.. It seems like a cashing-problem or something like that...
    Changing the parameters to so called text-parameters solves the problem.
    Maybe this workaround helps guys with the same problem...

  • Links to External Websites Appearing in my Project

    Hi,
    Got a strange one here . . . it may be network related I guess, but I'm not sure.
    I recently finished work on a large WebHelp project. When I outputed it to HTML I noticed that certain words have been 'hikacked' and used as links to external websites - webopedia.com being the most common:
    <p class="DocsNormal" align="justify">Federated Instant Messaging (IM)
    <a href="http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/F/network.html"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none;">networks</span></a>
    allow communications across a variety of different IM <a href="http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/F/client.html"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none;">clients</span></a>
    and <a href="http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/F/platform.html"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none;">platforms</span></a>.
    A Federated IM network, has an open <a href="http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/F/directory.html"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none;">directory</span></a>
    allowing other IM networks to message their users. Federated IM networks
    often communicate using open standards, such as <a href="http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/F/XMPP.html"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none;">XMPP</span></a>.</p>
    It's almost as if Google Adwords or some other site has taken over my document. These are certainly not links that I have put in; I generally only link to other pages within the same document and hardly ever go out to other sites. The only external links I have added to the project are for legitimate sites (Adobe and Avaya).
    Has anybody else experienced this, and does anybody know how to stop it happening?
    Any help or advice would be appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Hello again Alex
    Okay, question here. The document you say is exhibiting the issue, did you create that document yourself? If not, then perhaps whomever created the document to begin with added these links.
    I suppose that you could troubleshoot this by creating a fresh document. If the fresh document doesn't have the mysterious links, you can rule out any automated and nefarious forces at play. But if creating the document DOES seem to contain the links, you have other issues at play here that warrant further and deeper investigation.
    By the way, is this content originating from a Microsoft Word document or is it just basic HTML pages?
    Cheers... Rick

  • Track PDF Downloads without having to click a link - external website

    We want to track how many people download a particular document (pdf) on our external facing publishing website.  The PDF url is contained within a paper-based invoice they receive in the mail.  They then type in the URL to download the PDF brochure.
    Therefore, they are not clicking a link anywhere on the website but going directly to the PDF.
    We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager on our external website but they only track link clicks and not direct downloads of PDFs.
    Is there any way to find out how many times a PDF is downloaded directly?

    Sure, check out the iis log files or write some code that does that and counts the specific pdf downloads. I've written something that reads iis log files, maybe it can inspire you:
    https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/The-SharePoint-Flavored-5b03f323
    Or, you can use the MS LogParser tool to analyze the iis log files

  • Command Link inside table to external website in popup window

    Hi,
    I am trying to have a command link inside a table which is on the tables id. I know that if I have control of the destination page I can use setCurrentRowKeyValue. However I do not have control of the external website. So I cannot add it into my faces-config.xml file? I have tried putting a GoLink and a GoButton but I get the following Illegal character in fragment error, when I put my destination URL in. An example of the format the URL is:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio?&music=#{row.PrimaryKey}&adf=123
    Where I am adding in #{row.PrimaryKey} which is the Id of the row. I would like to have the new page opened into a pop up window if this is possible.
    I am not sure if this can be done in the backing bean or whether my approach is the correct one?
    Many Thanks
    Steve

    something like...
    <af:goLink text="#{row.PrimaryKey}"
               destination="http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio?&amp;music=#{row.PrimaryKey}&amp;adf=123"
               targetFrame="_blank"/>Regards,

  • Business Catalyst | External Link | Hosting on BC | Original, "fake" URL | External website | Muse

    Hi everyone,
    I am hosting my Muse website at Business Catalyst. But of course I don´t want to my users to see where the site is hosted.
    Thus my real URL is like: "www.mywebsite-businesscatalyst.com" but I made an adjustmend in my BC account so the URL which shows up in the browser is "www.mywebsite.com" (example)
    Now – here comes my problem:
    I want to have a link to an other website on my homepage.
    When I click on the button, I am transferred to the other website, but the URL still shows "www.mywebsite.com"
    But in this case I want it to show the real URL of the other website "www.theotherwebsite.com" (example)
    Is this something I can change via Muse or via Buiness Catalyst?
    Or can I change it at all, if I want to keep the settings with "my fake URL" www.mywebsite.com
    I am so lost here!
    Please help.
    Thanks XOX,

    Hi
    You can hyperlink the button to external page url , which when clicked will take the user to external link.

  • Host/ Load form to external website

    Hi. We are trying to find a solution to load an Eloqua form on our existing website. Is this possible? Would it be done through using an iFrame? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply. I have manually implemented jQuery in APEX and using it for other functionality e.g. validation, show/hide item etc. it works fine without any trouble, I am guessing it might be some sort of security issue or bug in APEX that blocking external website post. Not sure though.

  • Post to authenticator from an external website / html form

    Is it possible to post to a authenticator from an html page containing the form located on an external website?
    I have developed a custom login module for the portal server, so I tried fiddling a bit and cheating with the states. Problem is the login module still expects to be called first for displaying the form... resulting in the fact that a form post to the authenticator displays the portal login form in stead of actually validating credentials right away.
    I am trying to achieve something like the login box topleft on http://mysun.sun.com/
    Anybody who has experience on this part and can help me out?

    What you might want to do is look at the way that the login provider has been built.(Usually available when using anonymous login).
    <INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME="arg" SIZE=-1 VALUE="newsession">
    <!-- For different auth methods, the below params must be modified -->
    <INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME="page" SIZE=-1 VALUE="1">
    <INPUT TYPE=HIDDEN NAME="Submit" SIZE=-1 VALUE="Login">
    This seems to almost just "pass" the credentials through to the authenticator. It also destroys the current session, and forces the portal to start a new session.
    You can find more info on this in the Release notes for SP3/SP4. See http://docs.iplanet.com

  • How to pass a report value to an external website URL??

    Hello,
    Clicking on one of the fields in a report needs to take me to an external website and should pass the value of the field to the URL
    Example:
    1. Let's assume external site is http://www.abc.com
    2. The values in a column in my report range from 1 to 1000.
    3. When I click on say value 21 in my report, the URL formed should be http://www.abc.com/21 and should open in a new browser. Similary, when I click on value 994 in my report, the URL should be http://www.abc.com/994
    Note: I have created reports before and linked them(passed parameters) sucessfully to other objects(forms,reports) etc.. But, haven't passed parameters to external websites before!
    Would really appreciate if anyone could point me in the right direction.
    Thanks

  • Browser based InfoPath form deployed on a Claims based Web Application calling a Secure Web Service via Data Connection

    hi,
    We have a Browser based InfoPath Form deployed on a Claims based Web Application. We are tyring to call WCF Services that are secure using Certificates via the Data Connections on Infopath Form.
    Earlier we used to get the Data in BCS External List via the WCF Services and the Data Connections used to get the Data from the BCS External List. Due to Performance Issues, we want to remove the BCS External List and straightaway call the secure WCF Services
    via the Data Connections.
    Have anyone implemented this scenario.
    Thanks
    Ram
    Thanks Ram

    Hi Ram,
    As these are browser based InfoPath forms, you have two options
    1) Deploy as sandboxed forms
    In this case you have to create a secure store application id and then set the credentials for that account.
    You then have to export the data connection to Data connections library and modify the .udcx file to utilize the newly created secure store application id.
    This may sometime give issues related to sandboxed code service. You have to give permissions on the secure store for the user account which the sandboxed code service is running.
    2) Deploy as administrator approved forms
    This would be ideal way of doing things as you have full control over the web request if you write code behind InfoPath forms.
    3) Deploy as a Hybrid solution
    a) Write a full trust proxy solutions (extend SPProxyOperation class and override execute method) and make the web request call inside this and return the response
    b) Invoke above operation from the sandboxed InfoPath form's code behind by SPUtility.RegisteredProxyOperation(four part assembly name, operation args)
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Srikanth
