Is Acrobat Pro right for us. We have an Employee Handbook that needs editing. Some is current pdf, some from an older version. Want to get all into one handbook, have the table of contents automatically adjust and link to specific pages from the ToC.
You can download the trial version (http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html) to convert the PDF back to WORD if you do not have the original. The conversion may not be perfect, but it is typically better than starting from scratch. You may be lucky and get a good result. You might check the settings (in the save screen) to try retain format versus retain text flow. The format version can be a pain to edit since it creates a bunch of text boxes. The flow version may require you to reformat in WORD, but you likely would want to do that anyway.

Linking to a specific frame from JSP page
I am trying to link to site that has frames. I want to load a specific jsp in frame 3. Does anyone know how to pass the target and source values? I have been looking for tutorials unsuccessfully.
You can not point to a specific frame ina document from an external document.Your best bet might be to pass the parameters using URL and on the recieving end write some javascript to parse the url adn if it has a parameter then process that else just load standard document.

Linking to a specific frame from html?
Hello all:
Does anyone know if it is possible to have an html page that
links to a swf file, but ALSO goes to a specific frame or label
within that file? I'm trying to avoid having to start the Flash
file from the very beginning, but I can't say that I've ever seen
this done.
Thanks,
WayneThe simplest way:
in the HTML you expand the two occurences of "movie.swf" (in
the object and embed tag) to "movie.swf?jump=50", where "jump" is
the variable name and "50" is the frame somewhere in the middle of
your movie.swf that you want to start with.
In the first frame of movie.swf you have actionscript
if(this._framesloaded<jump) {
this.gotoAndPlay(1)}
else {
this.gotoAndPlay(jump)}
Of course, this doesn't check for error conditions and has
other weaknesses, but I hope you get the point.
Good luck

Linking to Movie Frames with URL Variables
Is there a way to link directly to a specific keyframe of a
SWF using code in the URL? We have build a Flash portfolio
slideshow for a number of artists and we would like to link to the
main page for each artist within the main movie. So the URL might
look something like this
http://mysite.com?artist=joebob.
As an example, we would want this URL to point to Joe Bob's
portfolio page instead of the home page for mysite.com. Joe Bob's
page would be on the 200th frame of the main movie, for

Link to specific text from another web page
Hello all
Is is possible to link from one page to a specific piece of

It depends on your settings for how you copy/paste. See your
PREFERENCES
for those. I don't get such things because my settings are
'tight' in that
they are restrictive to what stying is carried into the page.
> How I do this in a nav bar?
Change this -
.nav {
font: bold normal 14px/normal Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
text-transform: none;
color: #003300;
font-weight: bold;
a.nav:link {
font: normal 12px/normal Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
text-transform: none;
color: #003300;
text-decoration: none;
a.nav:visited {
font: normal 12px/normal Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
text-transform: none;
color: #003300;
text-decoration: none;
to this -
.nav {
text-align:center;
.nav a {
font: bold normal 12px/normal Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
color: #030;
font-weight: bold;
text-decoration:none;
margin-right:35px;
and then change this -
<div align="center"><a href="index.html"
class="nav">Home</a> <span
class="nav">About
Us</span> <a
href="impact_HE.html" class="nav">Impact of HE
Proposal</a> <a
href="purpose_ED.html"
class="nav">The Purpose of
ED</a> <a
href="procedures.html"
class="nav">Procedures </a> <a
href="what_can_we_do.html" class="nav">What Can We
Do?</a></div>
to this -
<div class="nav"><a
href="index.html">Home</a><a
href="about_us.html">About
Us</a><a href="impact_HE.html">Impact of HE
Proposal</a><a
href="purpose_ED.html">The Purpose of ED</a><a
href="procedures.html">Procedures</a><a
href="what_can_we_do.html">What Can
We Do?</a></div>
But an even better way would be to make the menu an unordered
list, like
this -
<ul>
<li><a
href="index.html">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="about_us.html">About
Us</a></li>
<li><a href="impact_HE.html">Impact of HE
Proposal</a></li>
<li><a href="purpose_ED.html">The Purpose of
ED</a></li>
<li><a
href="procedures.html">Procedures</a></li>
<li><a href="what_can_we_do.html">What Can We
Do?</a></li>
</ul>
And use this CSS -
.nav {
text-align:center;
.nav ul {
list-style-type:none;
margin:0;
padding:0;
overflow:hidden;
.nav li {
float:left;
width:150px;
margin-right:5px;
border-right:1px solid green;
.nav a {
font: bold normal 12px/normal Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
color: #030;
font-weight: bold;
text-decoration:none;
If you want to make the current page look like it doesn't
have a link, then
do this -
<ul>
<li><a href="index.html"
id="home">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="about_us.html" id="about">About
Us</a></li>
<li><a href="impact_HE.html" id="impact">Impact
of HE Proposal</a></li>
<li><a href="purpose_ED.html" id="purpose">The
Purpose of ED</a></li>
<li><a href="procedures.html"
id="procedure">Procedures</a></li>
<li><a href="what_can_we_do.html" id="what">What
Can We Do?</a></li>
</ul>
and add this to each page (use the proper ID) -
a#about {
cursor:default;
/* any other styles you want to make the current page show

Linking to .hlp topics from RoboHelp HTML 6
We have a comprehensive help file for our CADD systems built
in RoboHelp 6 for Word that has been compiled to WinHelp 2000
(.hlp) format. We now want to link to specific topic from a project
being built in RoboHelp HTML 6. This is easy to do in RoboHelp 6
for Word but I cannot find out how to do this in the HTML version.
Any help is greatly appreciated, and please dumb down the
responses, I will be appreciative not offended.
Thanks,
KellyHi Kelly and welcome to our community
Whether you may do this will depend on whether you are
creating WebHelp or a Compiled .CHM output. I don't believe it will
work with WebHelp. If you are creating a compiled .CHM, first off
make sure your primary layout is configured for Microsoft HTML
Help. If it isn't, you won't see the option I'm about to point you
to.
Once you cross that hurdle, click inside a topic and choose
Insert > HTML Help Controls > WinHelp Topic...
Hopefully that helps some... Rick -
How link from html page to a specific frame in flash cs5 as3
Hi!
I'm kinda new around here. I am interested in knowing how to link from a specific html page to a specific frame in flash cs5 as3.
I have a website that I originally began to design in flash but later started developing new pages for it in html. The flash part of it has several pages on different frames and I have created links from the flash part to the other html pages, but, I can only link the html pages back to the main flash home page, and not the other pages in the flash part of the website.
I have read that in cs3 it was possible using the flashvars skip variable, but I don't know how to do it. I have not yet seen any working examples and I could not find any instructions / tutorials online for cs5.
Can someone help here?add a query string, to the swf's embedding html, with variable/value indicating the frame you want to display in your swf. add a javascript function to return the query string (or entire url), call the javascript function from flash using the externalinterface class. and finally add code to your swf to parse the returned url or query string, parse it and then direct your timeline to the appropriate frame.

Is it possible to open an folio at a specific page from external link using URL scheme?
We want to link into a folio from another app we are creating. We can open the Viewer app with the URL scheme we define in the app (e.g. com.name.app ). However this always opens the app on the home screen.
Ideally we'd like to link into a specific folio or even page within the folio. Is this possible by using some sort of querystring/identifier/anchor on the end of the URL scheme?Yes, its possible but officially not supported and is not fully tested. Check DPS Tips App by Bob Bringhurst (https://itunes.apple.com/in/app/digital-publishing-suite-tips/id436199090?mt=8)
Download the Advanced Overlay folio and check "Buttons & Linking" - Slide 2 -
The way to open 3D pdf with specific model selection from url link
I guess this feature is not supported, but let me ask one thing.
I am looking for the way to open 3D pdf with specific model selection from url link.
For example, if the following link is opened, is it possoble to open 3d.pdf with automatic selection of "abc" model in the model tree?
http://example.org/3d.pdf#model=abc
If it can be done by javascript, it's really helpful.Impossible. There are only very limited command-line options for the Acrobat Family and you cannot change them.

"Create links from URLs" preference no longer working in sticky notes
I work with reading other people's sticky notes in Adobe Acrobat X Pro (now version 10.1.1). When they wrote URLs in the sticky notes it used to recognize them as links; now they're just plain text. My Preferences > General > "Create links from URLs" option is checked ON. I aso tried View > Tools > Document Processing > "create Links from URLs" and it added two links but only outside of the sticky notes. I am on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Thanks.
AFAIK, URLs inside annotations were never converted into actual links. I'm not even sure it's technically possible to do so.
It might have happened if the annotations were flattened and the text in them became a part of the static text of the PDF. Then the URLs in it could have been converted into "live" links, but not before. -
Button link to a specific frame in time line
Ok I have created my buttons and the content for the specific
frames. I have named the button and given it an instance name. I
have also given my specific frame a name and set that label type to
Name.
Whats the code for turning getting my button to link to a
specific frame?
I've also done the stop() code in each frame as I want it to
stop at each frame until the button is clicked again.
I have more than one button and each will link to a different
frame.
Thanks.I've duplicated an FLA with exactly the assets you have in
the same places, with the code on the main timeline. And mine
didn't work, just the same problem as you had. The solution I
proposed above works, but it is not the only way (See #2 below).
On Frame 1, select the UIScrollbar. if you look in the
Parameters tab of your UIScrollbar component, you'll notice that
the
scrolltargetName refers to
Instance_0. This is a default instance name assigned by the
Flash compiler, because you did not give your dynamic textfield an
instance, and your UIscollbar is referencing that. Now go to Frame
4. You will find that your dynamic textfield has the same instance
name, and the UIScrollbar is referencing the same instance. Problem
is, you have more than one textfield on more than one frame using
and referencing the same instance name, your UIScrollbars will get
confused as to which textfield is actually "Instance_0". The moment
you click to another frame, you've confused the UIScrollbar(s), so
they never work again.
The solution is simple.
First, put a stop() action on the first frame, if you have
not already done so, so your timeline stays put until you click on
a button.
Then you can solve the problem in one of two ways:
Give your textfields different instance names, and make sure
the
scrolltargetName property of each UIScrollbar refers to its
respective textfield.
Or set the text dynamically, which after all is what a dynamic
textfield is for. Have only one textfield/UIscrollbar combo, on the
first frame, and place code on a keyframe for each section which
changes the
text or
htmlText property of the textfield.
That should work. It did on mine. -
Asigning Reports, specific tables and Url links to the Role
Hello Gurus,
could you please tell me the procedure of asigning Reports, specific tables and Url links in the role.actually i know the process of assigning T-Codes to the role but i dont know the procedure for reports and url links and tables...
i hope u people will respond positively.
Cheers.......
srinivas.korvaHi Srinivas,
"i want to add only one particular table not all tables", you can do this using a Custom Transaction Code, the following are the steps to do it:
1) goto se93, give a unique name, say zxxx
2)Enter SE16 into the transaction field and select the flag the skip initial screen field:
3)On the lower portion of the screen, enter the following information:
Name of screen field: DATABROWSE-TABLENAME
Value: Enter the name of the table you want to browse with
4)save it.
5) Now add the transaction zxxx in th role, and assign it to the user.
With this, when user executes the transaction, he/she will be able to see only the perticular table you added.
"in PFCG what is the use of Exper mode for profile generation. what is the difference between general profile generation and expert mode profile generation".
Expert mode has 3 options:
1) Delete and recreate profile and authorizations---This will completely delete the old profile and add only the new once.
2) Edit old status----It will edit the old values
3) Read old status and merge with new data----This will add the new values aithout actually disturbing the old ones.
Hope it helps.
Please award points if it is useful.

HTML link from external html page to link to a frame in swf
Hi
I am trying to set up something to should be fairly basic to
do .. but I cannot get it to work.
Need a link from another website to link to a frame label or
number in my flash movie.
Something like this ..
<a href="mySwfPage.php?label=labelnamehere&">Click
here</a>
My guess it will not work because I have several stop
functions and a preloader in the 1st frame not allowing the href
link to jump to the frame name I want.
Here is the page I am trying to apply this to -
http://www.mloudesign.net/tampico/index.html
We need for an external link to link to the espanol label so
that would start first, otherwise the english version plays 1st.
In case this helps this is the preloader I am using in frame
#1 ..
onClipEvent (load) {
total = _root.getBytesTotal();
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
loaded = _root.getBytesLoaded();
percent = int(loaded/total*100);
text = percent+"%";
gotoAndStop(percent);
if (loaded == total) {
_root.gotoAndPlay(2);
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
~mlouhe! I'm not alone in my desperation. Take a look at my problem:
I've got a JEditorPane (not editable) inside a JFrame. The JEditorPane is loaded with the HTML text and all the links to anchors are working properly when I click on them.
BUT
If I try to go to an anchor from outside this JFrame I can see how the JEditorPane scrolls to the right anchor and suddenly it scrolls back to the place where the caret was located!!!
The "funny thing" is that my code is working in jdk1.3.1 but this is happening in jdk1.4.2. Is it a bug?!?!?!
How could I figure out what position I have to set the caret to for every anchor in order to get the scroll working correctly???
My implementation of hyperlinkUpdate (working properly, here isn't the problem):
jEditorPane.addHyperlinkListener(new HyperlinkListener() {
public void hyperlinkUpdate(HyperlinkEvent e) {
if (e.getEventType() == HyperlinkEvent.EventType.ACTIVATED) {
MiEditorPane src = (MiEditorPane)e.getSource();
src.goToAnchor(e.getDescription().substring(1));
});My object jEditorPane is an instance of this class:
class MiEditorPane extends JEditorPane {
MiEditorPane() {
super();
public void goToAnchor(String anchor) {
super.scrollToReference(anchor);
}And this is the method I call from outside the JFrame containing the JEditorPane:
public void goToAnchor(String anchor) {
jEditorPane.goToAnchor(anchor);
}Any help greatly appreciated ... -
How to disable - General preference - Create links from URLs. Using Acrobat Javascript
http:\\www.sdss.com should not be suggested as a link. We have manual option to uncheck -> Create links from URLs, but I need to achieve this through the script.
Please help on this ASAP.That is an end user preference only. Not accessible by JavaScript. If you control the installation, then you can turn off that option for the installation but the user could still turn it back on.
