Link to tutorial on VITs

I've been programming in LV for a couple of decades but have run across an new area I have had zero exposure to.  I am having to fix/support an application written to handle multiple data streams across a network.  It uses VITs.  Can someone point me to a reasonable tutorial/description of VITs and how you set them up, etc?
I am a bit stumped since the code has zero documentation.  There is a queue (been there and done that) but it appears that they are pushing a cluster into it and magically there is another instance of this VIT.  An example or link would do wonders.  I've done a bit of searching but maybe I'm not using the correct magic incantation (key words)
Thanks
Solved!
Go to Solution.

In terms of incantations I have found placing the entrails of an unspotted goat on the keyboard at moon-rise to be highly effective...
But seriously though folks... VITs are just VIs with a different file extension. The key difference is that when one is opened (manually or programatically) you get a copy of the routine in memory. Open it 10 times and you get 10 copies of the same code.
Now to your specific problem... Look at the code that is dequeuing the cluster. That is where to start looking for the code calling the VITs.

Jobinesh,
I am doing exactly what is described in here http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/mysql-and-bc-howto-082060.html
Expected Behaviour:
1. Create Following Association and VL, which is working fine.
PeopleCompanyFkAssoc1 and PeopleCompanyFkAsoc1Link >> 0..1 to * Cardinality Between Company.CompanyID and People.CompanyID
2. Do NOT Create any other non sense Association and VL, but it is creating
PeopleCompanyFkAssoc and PeopleCompanyFkLink >> 0..1 to * Cardinality Between People.PeopleID and People.CompanyID
What's the relationship between PeopleID and CompanyID ?

• ANyone have a good link or tutorial of words in 3d perspective for ps

I want to make a 3d word in perspective view. So that the closest point to the user is large and gets smaller.
I tried a couple of tutorials from Google search but cannot get pass the text transform part because all the buttons are greyed out and I can't select anything.
Thank you for the help!
gothamcrusader0101

Are you hoping to use the CS5 3D features, or use faked 3D (ala Transform> Perspective)? To use faked 3D on a type layer, try Layer> Type> Convert to Shape. Then Edit> Transform Path> Perspective. Now grab one the left side corner control points and drag the box taller.
If you want CS5 3D text tutorials, try http://psd.tutsplus.com/tutorials/3d/3d-logo-photoshop/ for a very comprehensive look or http://av.adobe.com/russellbrown/Basic3DTextShadow_SM.mov for Russell Brown's text centric tutorial.

• ISO link for tutorial about Master/detail

Late last night I ran thru a tutorial that I found at somewhere at the Oracle site and I want to run thru it again, but cannot locate it.
The tutorial had me download a file called apex30
The unzipped files were employees.sql and tasks.txt, and the tutorial was about master/detail pages, concerning employees, projects and tasks...
It was part of the series that had the little eyeglass icon for viewing screenshots. It is NOT Part Number E13363-02 from the advanced tutorials release 3.2
Anyone know where I can find that tutorial again?

• No FLV video in a linked SWF?

I’ve got an FLV video linked to an external SWF (a substage) that is itself linked to another SWF (the main stage) The FLV plays fine if I publish and run the substage independently but when the substage is loaded into the main stage at runtime I lose the video, all the other screen elements from the substage work fine. I thought it might be a path issue so I hardcoded a fully qualified URL as the video source with the same results; works independently, fails when loaded into the main stage at run time. Anyone know what’s going on? Thanks.
Flash CS5/AS3 using the video player component.

The FLV is linked to tutorial.swf via the standard video playback component. The video and tutorial swf are in the same directory, optimally the video should be linked with a relative path but a fully qualified URL is an option.
Tutorial.swf is loaded at runtime into the main swf using a standard loader class script. The main swf is in the parent directory of the tutorial & video directory (ie: it’s up one level).
Tutorial.swf loads properly into the main swf and plays audio & animations, the only thing it doesn’t show is the video, no error is thrown.
I’ve just discovered that I haven’t really tested the fully qualified URL option, my server didn’t have flv set as a valid mime type. If that works I’ll take it and move on, but I’d much rather a simple relative link.
flv -(video playback component)-> tutorial.swf -(loader class script)-> main.swf

• EJB Tutorial problem

Hi everybody,
I try to do the tutorial for "Using EJBs in Web Dynpro".
[Link to Tutorial|/docs/DOC-8061#20 [original link is broken]]
But on page 14 I got problems.
I have to implement the constructor that throws an exception called "CreateException". But this cannot be resolved from my NWDS. I tried it with organizing imports but nothing happened so I tried to import the class manually with the coding
import javax.ejb.createexception;
It failed again. I think the library for this is missing. Anybody did the tutorial and solved the problem?
I am using NWDS 7.1 SP1 with SAP ehp 1.

• Online tutorial,documentation to get simple servlet

Hi,
I am new to servlet.
I have J2EE 1.4 SDK in my pc.
I want to develop simple servlet,deploy and run.
will you please give me some websites ,link of tutorial,documentation to write a simple servlet and deploy in j2EE 1.4?
Thank you so much

Hello David,
The problem seems to be with,
MBeanServer mbeanServer = MBeanServerFactory.createMBeanServer();
This does not get the MBeanServer that weblogic server uses. Try getting
the MBeanServer from MBeanHome and register your MBean in this server.
Check out
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/jmx/basics.html
to lookup MBeanHome and getting the MBeanServer.
Thanks,
-satya
David Karr wrote:
Like other people reading this group, I'm trying to get started with JMX in WebLogic (8.1) despite the apparent lack of useful information.
I'll eventually be writing an mbean which is intended to run on each managed server (registered by a servlet) which will read and write a particular file on each managed server (contention problems are unavoidable).
In the beginning, however, I'm just trying to build a simple POC, with a servlet that creates and registers a simple mbean. That part was deceptively easy, but I'm not sure I did it right, as I'm not sure of the best way to look at the results of what I did.
I found the "wlshell" tool, which is a jmx client for WebLogic. After my servlet registers the mbean, I tried reloading the wlshell display, but I don't see anything new. I'm sure I'm misunderstanding something (probably in the "ObjectName" constructor).
The "init()" method of my servlet looks like this:
public void init()
MBeanServer mbeanServer = MBeanServerFactory.createMBeanServer();
Sample sample = new Sample();
try
ObjectName objectName = new ObjectName("Sample:name=sample");
mbeanServer.registerMBean(sample, objectName);
The Mbean and impl look like:
public interface SampleMBean
public void setFlag(boolean flag);
public boolean getFlag();
public class Sample implements SampleMBean
private boolean flag;
public void setFlag(boolean flag) { this.flag = flag; }
public boolean getFlag() { return (flag); }

Actually java.io.File functionality is now replaced by java.nio.file.Path functionality.
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/essential/io/legacy.html#mapping
I am looking for the relatively old java.io.File Class functionality tutorial.
Thanks.AFAIK there isn't a tutorial about the File class per se, it's simply not very interesting in isolation... its most common use is in concert with the other java.io.* classes.
I suspect that you're thinking the File class does a lot more than it actually does... so I suspect that you really would benefit from reading through the above linked [Sun tutorial on Java File I/O|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/essential/io/].
If you're still focused on the File class after doing the tutorial then read through the [File API doco|http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/io/File.html], and ask specific questions if you get stuck on stuff.
If you have a "real business problem" you're trying to solve then also describe that problem.

• Problem with David Powers tutorial -- updating a record.

This is a great tutorial, which I highly recommend, but I got to the section in Part 2, the part where you do the Update page. Link to tutorial http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_dynamic_site_pt2.html  Functionally , it looks right.  But the data is not updated to the database.  I followed the instructions as carefully as I can. Is there some common mistake that a lot of people have here that I've fallen into as well?

OK, I just threw the whole thing out and started over, as suggested by the moderator.  It worked.  I don't know what was wrong.   Probably a typo or something arcane. So there you have it!

• Installation Problem - Java SDK 1.4.1

I have a problem with installing Java on my machine at home that you may be able to help me with.
Here are the Details: 1) I installed the most recent java SDK on my machine. 2) I set the Autoexec file with the correct PATH statement. 3) Set the correct CLASSPATH statement 4) The "Java -Version" statement gives the correct reply that it is version 1.4.
Below is my AutoExec.bat file

SET COMSPEC=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM
SET PATH=C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~3\OFFICE;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\ATF

SET PROMPT=$p$g
SET TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
SET TMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
Problem: Trying to compile a simple "HelloWorld" Program with "javac Helloworld.java" produces the error "Bad Command or File name".
Issues: Command Line in Windows ME requires 8.3 format. Inserts tilde "~" and a number into the names of the files. even using a short name such as "HelWrld.java" inserts a tilde because of the "java" extension. Have tried using a "jav" extension but that does not work as the error is the same.
Question: How can I get rid of the "Bad Command or File Name"?

My First Java Progam (for Windows with Java 2 SDK v1.4.1)
Follow these instructions EXACTLY.
1. Download and install the Java 2 SDK, Standard Edition. You can find it here:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/downloads.html
Select the download for your operating system and be sure to download the SDK (rightmost column) and not the JRE. (The JRE is only the Java Runtime Environment, which does not include the Java compiler and other tools needed for software development).
2. Read the README and installation instructions! Read these instead of asking questions about installation etc. in the Java forums.
README for Java 2 SDK v1.4.1: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/README.html
Java 2 SDK v1.4.1 for Windows installation: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/install-windows.html
Things to note:
- After installing, add the bin directory of the SDK to your PATH environment variable. For example, if you installed the SDK in C:\j2sdk1.4.1_01, add the directory C:\j2sdk1.4.1_01\bin to your PATH. (If you don't know what an environment variable is and how to set it, read the documentation of Windows; if you're using Windows XP, this might be useful: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q310519& ).
3. Open Notepad and type in your first program:
public class HelloWorld {
public static void main(String[] args) {
System.out.println("Hello World!");
Save this program somewhere with the filename "HelloWorld.java".
Things to note:
- The case of text is important. Don't type "Helloworld", "helloworld" or anything else. Also the case of the filename is important (even though Windows has case-insensive filenames!).
- Watch out that Notepad doesn't append ".txt" to the filename. The file should be named "HelloWorld.java", not "HelloWorld.java.txt".
4. Open a command prompt and go to the directory that contains the file "HelloWorld.java" (with the CD command).
5. Compile the progam with the following command:
javac HelloWorld.java
Things to note:
- If you get something like "Unknown command: javac" or "Bad command or filename", you did not (correctly) add the bin directory of the SDK to the PATH (see step 2).
6. Run the program. If you didn't get any compile errors, you now have a new file "HelloWorld.class" in the same directory. Run the program with the following command:
java HelloWorld
Things to note:
- If you get: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld/class", you have typed "java HelloWorld.class". Leave off the ".class" at the end. You are typing a class name here, not a filename.
- If you get something like: "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: helloworld (wrong name: HelloWorld)", you have typed the class name wrong. Note that the case is important (i.e., don't type "helloworld" but "HelloWorld")!
- You don't need to set any classpath here. In Java 1.4, the current directory is included in the classpath automatically. For older versions of Java, you may need to add the current directory (".") to the classpath, like this:
java -classpath . HelloWorld
7. Congratulations with your first working Java program. Now follow these links:

• How to make an icon image using Photoshop

I found out how to do this recently so I decided that I wanted to make a tut for those who don't know how to make an icon image. This icon image is for the libraries tab on your computer. Under the libararies tab there is Music, Pictures, Documents, and Photos
First you will need the ICO (Icon image format) Format extension for photoshop which can be downloaded here:
http://www.telegraphics.com.au/svn/icoformat/trunk/dist/README.html
The download link and tutorial on how to install it is all in the link above.
Once you have that all set you can now launch photoshop to create your icon image. Once you have launched it, create a new document with the size as in the image below.

Create the image you want. I used a simple one by using the custom shape tool by pressing "U" on your keyboard and with the
basic blending options.

The reason why the image is pixelated is because it is an icon image. Since the image is only 256x256 pixels when you zoom in on it that will get you the pixely result. The reason why I zoomed  in is so you can see it. But don't worry this is no the end result. Just continue reading and you will see.
So once you have created the icon go ahead and press
file>save as>(under format choose the ICO)>and choose the name that you want to name it. And save it in your C: drive. You will see why to save it in your C: drive in a sec.

So now that you have created the icon and saved it now you can create the new library.

Name the library whatever you want I named it "Sample" for tutorial purposes. Notice how it gives you a default boring icon image for your library.

So now once you have created and named your library now it is time to get the icon image into place.
Go to computer/c: Drive/users/YOU/ And now once you have reached this area you will need to access a hidden folder named "appdata" to do so press "Alt" then a menu bar will show. Click
tools>folder options>and view. Find the option to view hidden folders then press apply then ok. Now we shall continue so AppData>Roaming>Microsoft>Windows>Libraries
Now you should see all the libraries including the one you just created.

Once you have reached your destination then open a new text document with notepad and drag the library you just created in notepad. The result should look like this:

once you have reached this point click at the end of the second to last line down then press enter and enter in this information
<iconReference>c:\"NAME OF ICO FILE YOU CREATED IN PS".ico</iconReference>
Example:

Once you have entered that information go to file>save and the icon image should appear on the library you created.

Now you are officially finished. Go and spread the news and joy. Bye for now
-Dusty951512

It is Windows only because all those screen shots are exclusively Windows, the file structure and paths do not resemble those of the Mac in the least.  As a Mac user, there's nothing I could take from your tutorial.  Sorry,
No drives named with letters like C: on the Mac, for instance.  No backward slashes either, ever.  No such paths either.  No "Notepad" on the Mac, we use TextEdit; but such a text editor is not remotely needed on the Mac to make and/or edit icons.  Etc.
Those folders are not even called "Libraries" on the Mac…  Nothing resembling your tutorial at all.
The icons in the Finder's Sidebar are not customizable at all in recent version of OS X.

• How to access data of all users in a page?

Hi all, I am new to APEX and have a query.
I have installed APEX on my local machine, created a workspace, and added a few users with roles.
I am creating an application, similar to a Library app, where I have a table that stores Books information (BOOK_ID, BOOK_NAME, etc). I'd like to create another table BOOK_USER with two columns, BOOK_ID and USER_ID. BOOK_ID would refer to the BOOKS table, and I want USER_ID to refer to the table that stores user details of the workspace that I am using. The data entry would happen from a page that has two LOVs, one for book name (using BOOK_ID as the value) and another for user name (USER_ID, or whatever field APEX uses to store user's ID). Can I do that in APEX? I've found ways to access and authenticate a user for a page, but how to get data of all users in the workspace? In other words, how to get all usernames in a LOV?
As I am new to APEX, I'd appreciate if someone can guide me through the steps, or post links to tutorial, etc.

Assuming that you are using the Application Express User Accounts for authentication, in that case you have to use built-in apex views
selet * from APEX_WORKSPACE_APEX_USERSAnd use USER_NAME column instead of user_id
