Linked Data Extraction Tool (Oracle or 3rd party) available?

We are looking for a way to extract a linked subset of data from the database. Our database schema is configured in such a way that entering a PK for one table (A) relates to many other tables (B1 – Bn) via one-to-many and many-to-one FK references, and access to the B tables have FK links to additional tables (C1 – Cn), etc. We have considered writing our own PL/SQL code to retrieve the linked data on demand by entering a PK for table A, and having the code provide all data related to table A as well as to the linked tables (B1 – Bn, C1 – Cn, … Z1 – Zn). Alternatively, functionality to retrieve a subset of data up to a certain number of rows has also been suggested (provided that the rows retrieved for each table are linked). However, before we begin coding this ourselves, we would like to know if there is any Oracle provided or third party tools/functionality that would facilitate this extraction. Thank you in advance for any information or suggestions you can provide.

Sybase provides the best data extraction utility called BCP. You can load and extract data. It is very user friendly. From your unix prompt if you type in BCP ? you will all the switches and
help messages you need to use. It is so simple.
Oracle dosn't have such a utility to extract data from table.
You need to write a Stored procedure and use UTF_FILE package to
extract data from table and write into a file.

  • DATA EXTRACTION FROM ORACLE & SYBASE

    Hello members...
Good day. This is my first posting in this site. I am new to Oracle and have a question regarding Data extraction from Oracle and Sybase.
My project has two applications one having Oracle as the database and the other has Sybase as the database. On the proposed production schedule, there would be a interface data update from the Oracle database to the Sybase database.
My aim is to check if the data update is in sync after the update. We plan to extract the data from the two databases (Oracle and Sybase) and compare in a Third Party tool. We have the tool to compare. Can any of you suggest a nice data extraction tool. I have to set this data extraction as a batch in the nightly batch schedule.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,

  • GUI data extraction tool for business users

    Hi,
I am looking for recommendations for a business user tool to easily extract data from an Oracle database. Our requirements are:
    - a user-friendly GUI point-and-click tool that will allow users to select columns, aggregations and filters and will automatically generate the SQL and retrieve a result set.
    - will support free-form SQL as an alternative.
    - can be hosted as a web application so that desktop install of software not required.
    - supports unicode character sets.
    - allows export of result set to Excel.
    - the ability to save and/or share queries would be nice.
If you're familiar with Hummingbird's BI Query, something similar to this might do the trick. Graphs and charts are not required, we just need data retrieval.
    Many thanks for your help,
    Peter

  • P7000 Tools not jogging 3rd party motor

I am trying to control a 3rd party stepper motor with P7000Tools but I can not get it to jog the motor.
    Setup:
    Pacific Scientific P70530 drive
    MicroKinetics 23HT175 stepper motor (http://www.microkinetics.com/stepper_motors/23ht175.htm)
National Instruments 780099-01Serial Programming Cable for P70530 & P70360 Stepper Drives
tabletop variable power supply (at 30VDC and max amperage)
P7000Tools correctly finds the drive and I have the custom motor setup as:
If I "Send All" to the motor and them Probe it, the motor makes some noises at different frequencies. I also see the power supply incrementally increase in supply amerage. P7000Tools then tells me that the motor has successfully been probed. However, when I then try to jog the motor, nothing happens. I also notice that the motor gets very hot. Its at this point that I shut off the power supply. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks,

    tir38,
I found the following article and copied the text below.  The second paragraph explains tooth count, and here's the link to the original: http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/10638
    Danaher Drives (P70530 and P70360)
Danaher refer to microstepping as step resolution. The step resolution can be configured through one of two methods. One is through the DIP switches on the side of the drives as shown in the P7000 Series Stepper Drives Getting Started manual on page 9. The other is through the Danaher P7000 Tools, a software interface to configure the hardware.
When configuring the drive using the P7000 Tools, verify that the Tooth Count is correct. This will be located under Stepper Motor»Properties. The tooth count is one fourth of the number of steps per revolution with no microstepping. If this number is not correct it can be changed in the Motor File Editor. Set the desired step resolution under Command»Command Signal Configuration»Step Resolution in Steps / Motor Rev. If the drive does not support the desired value it will coerce down to the nearest increment that is supported. All of the microstepping will then be configured on the drive.

  • Using barcodes with Oracle / no 3rd party

Is anyone aware of or doing barcodes with Oracle... be it sql/plus, reports, etc. without using 3rd party packages? I have been asked to research how we can produce documents that contain barcodes in pdf format. I have found 3rd party packages that do it but am tasked with finding if there is a way without those add-ons.

If this is on a mac, my guess is that you are choosing the obvious file as your external editor rather than the correct one. You want this one:
The file at the top level of the PSE 10 folder is just an alias to the welcome screen.

  • Oracle RAC/3rd party clusterware support question

Does anyone know if Oracle supports a Linux RAC system also running HP Ibrix clusterware? I was not able to find a list of certified 3rd party clusterware vendors that Oracle will support to run with RAC. If anyone has this information, please let me know. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the response, the versions would be RHEL5, 11g rac/rdbms, using HP Ibrix as 3rd party clusterware.
I'll open an SR if I can't find the information I need on this forum, but I prefer to reserve opening SR's for technical issues and after I've done dilligence to find the information.
If anyone has come accross this information, please let me know. Thanks!

    Hi Rosalin,
There are various ways to do so
    1.  Off line solution: You can write an ABAP report and download flat file or excel and that can becom the input for your
          application.
    2. On Line solution : Develop an Remote Enabled FM(this FM will provde the required details) and develop a web service
(using .net or java )  Call this web service through your application.
Idoc and XI's are some of the other alternatives you have.
    Hope this helps.

  • Data extraction from Oracle database

    Hello all,
I have to extract data from legacy database tables. I need to apply a lot of conditions on data extraction using SQL statements for getting only valid master data, transaction data, SAP date format etc. Unfortunately I don;t have a luxary of accessing legacy system data base table to create table views and applying select statements.
Is there anyother way round by which I can filter data on source system side w/o getting into legacy system. I mean being in BW data source side.
I am suppose to use both UD connect and DB connect to test which will workout better way of data extraction. But my question above should be same in either interface.
This is very urgent as we are in design phase.
    Points will be rewarded immediately.
    Thanks

Well I and eveyone know that it can be done in BI.
I apologize that I did not mention it in my question.
I am looking for very specific answer, if there is any trick we can do on source system side from BI. Or where we can insert SQL statements in infopackage or data source.
    Thanks

  • Data extraction from oracle

We need to pull data like material information, purchase order information from SAP to our local oracle database. How can we connect our application to download this data direcly from SAP's oracle database to our local database. We don't want to use BAPI calls. Is there is any way to connect to SAP's oracle directly?

There are ETL tools made for this that have add-ons for SAP R3/ECC, so that extraction of data uses native SAP functionality, and then loads to Oracle tables (including using native Oracle buik load functionality).
Two tools of this nature come to mind: Informatica and Talend. Informatica has an enterprise-class ETL tool that does exactly what you're looking to do, but the cost for Informatica is quite huge. On the other end of the spectrum, Talend also performs the tasks you're looking to perform and it's an open-source tool (free to download and use - cost for support and training).

  • Avoid using DB link when extracting from Oracle in OWB map

if i define a db table as a source to extract data in my OWB mappings, it will generate PLSQL code which utilises a DBlink to get access to the table.
my question is, if my source table is in the same schema as my data warehouse runtime schema, can i tell OWB to avoid using a dblink ?!

    Hi Duncan,
Yes you can. What you will need to do is configure the mapping, which allows you to specify physical characteristics of a mapping. So it allows you to specify where or better how to access and object in a mapping. By default it gets the database link associated with the module it is sourced from.
To change this, in the module editor highlight your mapping. Click configure, and look at "sources and targets". Open this node and find your source table (or view). Open this node and deselect the "database link".
Should your table be in a different schema but in the same instance, you can specify a schema qualifier. You can also combine schema and dblink to point to a different instance and schema. If you specify the schema be sure to specify this in the correct case. OWB double quotes to preserve case, so use upper case in the most common scenario.
    Hope this helps,
    Jean-Pierre

  • Data extracted from Oracle ASCP and presented in OBI

    Hello,
I work for a company using the Oracle APS suite and for demand management and supply planning. The ASCP (Advanced Supply Chain Planning) tool is the key tool for our end user planners.
What are the interfaces like between Oracle APS and OBI?
Are there any OBI users who have enjoyed success using OBI to present the detailed data out of ASCP? The users report that getting visibility to the data in ASCP using the out of the box ASCP functionality is very limited.
I am interested in general feedback and any suggestions on where to get more information or perhaps to read about how other companies are using APS/OBI together.
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Jim Shaughnessy

One way of doing this is setup Heterogeneous Database connections
    http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_heterogeneous_database_connections_sql_server.htm
I am sure there's other options out there.

  • Any way to back up data on an iPod touch (3rd party apps)?

I think I know the answer to this one but I'll throw it out there just in case. First of all, I'm apparently one of the lucky ones who has my iPod touch lock up at the apple screen several times a week during certain syncs (normally adding or removing apps) only to find it hot as a skillet and totally unresponsive sometimes hours later. At this point I'm pretty much used to having to completely rebuild the iPod touch regularly (at least it takes a little less than 6 hours now). What I'm wanting to know is: is there any way to back up ALL of the data on the iPod touch??? The data in all the built in apps is there after a restore and even some of the third party apps seem to keep their data (Shopper for instance has my shopping list). The problem is most apps just dump all their data and it's a pain to reenter everything and it's aggravating losing any scores or progress in games (yeah, I know. not really a major issue). Some examples include: Bloomberg loses all of my stock information, Units loses quick conversions, OmniFocus looses all settings (db is "in the cloud" so data can be retrieved) Chopper loses all scores and progress, Motion X Poker loses all scores and progress, all my weather apps lose the cities I normally load into them... I'm sure there are others but these are some of my most used and thus most missed after every restore.
Every backup completes and I never have any errors. It's just clear that "backup" really means partial backup in this case and I can't find any way to even do anything about it manually. Is this something the application programmers have control over? Or is this just something that I'll have to wait for another update to the software? On a related note is there any consistent way to lessen the crashes? I've searched quite a bit and it seems like it's fairly random. I've relegated myself to only adding and deleting apps through iTunes but that still leaves me open to crashes. Not to mention it completely eliminates the browsing and spur of the moment shopping on the iPod touch. As for a potential hardware problem, my 16GB before this with the same apps loaded did the exact same thing so I don't think it's the hardware.
Thanks for any help or advice. All in all I do love this thing I just wish it would become more stable. After all I thought that was the reason for the close control Apple was keeping over developers.

Thanks. I hadn't seen that before and I'll have to look into it a little more. The one thing that has me wondering is the part where they state that the iPod touch is now supported "for iPod to computer transfers only". I would think that given the nature of the product there would have to be some way to transfer the data back to the iPod... I might have a look at the demo version after work here. I guess the obvious question is; have you used this with an iPod touch and had success?
Edit: Just noticed this seems to be a Windows product only so it won't actually help me. Thanks though.

  • Mass Data upload in SAP from 3rd party system

    Hi Experts.
Can anyone help me how to do mass data upload in SAP. Actually, when any new joining is done, a form is being filled by employee(joining form), and that data is finally updated in SAP manually using various infotypes. Now, i m planning to make that form available in webpage. The employee will go to the webpage, fill the data , also the HR will fill the required fields, and once the form is complete, the data will get updated in SAP, in resp. infotypes. Like personal details in infotye 2, address in infotype 6, bank details in 9 and so on, in a single shot. Is there any BAPI or something like that, using which this can be achieved.
    Thnx
    S Kumar

You can try BAPI_BANK_CREATE for IT0009, BAPI_ADDRESSEMP_CREATE for IT0006 and BAPI_PERSDATA_CREATE for IT0002. Otherwise, you can also use FM HR_MAINTAIN_MASTERDATA to create any infotype.
Have a look also at the Life and Work Events functionality in SAP Portal (http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/f6/263359f8c14ef98384ae7a2becd156/frameset.htm)

THE NEW INSTANCE STATUS COME UP AS READY, UNLIKE THE PREVIOUS STATUS OF UNKNOWN!
My guess is the 2 TNSNAMES.ORA files on the machine, and the contents of the Registry 'Home' entries are causing the issues. But I'm not sure of what actions to take, and why initially the service instances come up as 'UKNOWN', and then the other 2 appear as 'READY'. ora92ee.mydomain has 2 instances of the service....baffling.
Is it to do with installing 9iEE on a single machine, rather than a Client/Server environment?
Any ideas upon how we can get our 3rd party tools to successfully connect to the Oracle database again will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
