Linked resources in .project

I am using linked resources to avoid using absolute paths in
a source-controlled BlazeDS application. I have set the
${CATALINA_HOME} linked resource in Eclipse and am using it
successfully for compiler argument paths. I have also set the
output folder in Project->Properties->Flex Build
Path->Output Folder to use ${CATALINA_HOME}.
However, in the .project file, a linkedResources element has
been created specifying the output folder location as an absolute
path, rather than using ${CATALINA_HOME}. When I try to edit the
.project file to use the link token, after saving the file, Eclipse
resets the path back to absolute.
So, while my .actionScriptProperties and .flexProperties use
the linked resource properly, the .project file does not, and makes
it difficult to share the project.
Any ideas on why this might be happening?
I also don't understand why in my .actionScriptProperties, in
the compiler tag, why there is both a outputFolderLocation and
outputFolderPath attribute. What is the difference? The
outputFolderLocation attribute uses the linked resource, while
outputFolderPath is set to "bin-debug" and seems to be referencing
the .project file where the linkedResource is giving me trouble. I
believe this to be the case because nowhere else to I specify
bin-debug to be the name of the output folder.

Eclipse won't pick up Path Variables from Environment variables. You
can define your own Path Variables in the popup for linked resources.
Click on the New button and browse to the file system location. Each
developer then needs to define this variable in their own workspace.
You are able to get relative paths using special variable names that are
internal to Eclipse. You can setup the relative links using Drag and
Drop. Open up a system file navigator window (Explorer, Dolphin,
Nautilus, etc). Drag the external folder and drop it on the project in
the Eclipse Project Explorer. A dialog box will ask if you want to add
the folder to the project. Select Link to Files and Folders. You can
then select if the link should be relative to the project, workspace, or
a variable you create yourself.

    Log Message:
Modifying framework projects to not depend on the FLEX_SDK linked resource. Instead, we use the $ token (relative path to frameworks/) to point directly to the required swcs in the libs folder. This greatly simplifies the files, since there is now no need to exclude swcs from the SDK.
Also, modified the projects such that the spark and framework projects may be imported together to FB without any other projects by having them depend on the swcs in the libs folder rather than the projects. However, other projects that depend on spark and framework will depend on the projects still. Thus, you must import spark and framework projects before importing the others.
A developer working on the textlayout and osmf projects will have to replace the swcs on the build path in the spark/framework projects with their respective projects.

  • Creating Linked Resources

    Hi All,
we have a J2EE project set up in SAP Netweaver Developer Studio 2.0.12 which is stored in the DTR.  When trying to create a linked folder we get the error "Project 'projectName' is mapped to repository type 'com.tssap.dtr.client.eclipse.DAVTeamProvider' which does not support linked resources."  We are attempting to create a link to a folder on the same file system where the actual webapp is found but obviously not in the webapp's own space.
*How we are creating a new linked folder: File --> New --> Folder --> Clicked 'Advanced' button --> Check off 'Link to folder in the file system' --> Specify path ... that's the way we've done it in eclipse before.
Has anyone been able to achieve this?  Can it possibly be done through the web.xml?
    Anyone at all?

    Hi Jan,
This report SOLMAN_UNUSED_DOCUMENTS will help you identify the documents which are not linked to the project.

  • Link to other project - CAPS error

Using Captivate 3 and publishing as htm/swf files
I have created a menu - each button links to another Captivate project (that is a .cp file)
One of the 5 buttons was linked to Create_send_email.cp.
To publish in our LMS I renamed the file create_send_email.cp. (It prefers all lower case)
Captivate won't allow me to change the link.
Every time I delete the Create_send_email Project, and browse to select the create_send_email.cp project it simple reinstates the upper case C.
Btw I havbe browsed the KBase and the forums... and I gether there is an issue with linking to other projects. Also read about the cache in Captivate 5 but perhaps not relevant here??
    Thanks

This error appears have to sorted itself after I republished everything - perhaps the upper case C displayed in the Button properties was removed by the publish process.

  • "not a valid location for linked resource" in Flash Builder 4.7

    Hi,
I'm constantly running into the problem, that Flash Builder simply won't let one create a linked resource that points to a location on the same drive?
    I'm getting the infamous
"...not a valid location for linked resource..."
    error message.
I'm using FB 4.7 with Flash Professional CC.
Is that supposed to work at all?
I've 1 workspace where I've successfully created a linked resouce - but it fails for all others. Even when I'm setting up a new WS.
And it's totally unclear to me why it had worked there but not in all others that I'm trying to create.

  • In ECC 6.0, can I link a CTS project id to a transport target group?

In ECC 6.0, can I link a CTS project id to a specific transport target group?
I configured two IMG projects, namely, Phase1 and Phase2.  In SPRO, I tied them to CTS project ids, DEV_P00001 and DEV_P00002, respectively.  In STMS, I configured two transport target groups called /PHASE1/ and /PHASE2/ that I want to link with the corresponding project ids.  The intention is that Phase1 transports will go to the clients specified in the /PHASE1/ target group and that Phase2 transports will go to the clients specified in the /PHASE2/ target group
I want to link the CTS project ids to the respective transport target groups so that (e.g.) if a team member creates a transport in SE01/SE09/SE10 and chooses the DEV_P00001 project id from the Project dropdown, then /PHASE1/ will appear as the default transport target.  Likewise, if the team member instead chooses the CTS project id DEV_P00002, then /PHASE2/ will appear as the default transport target.
Right now, the user has to remember to choose the correct combination of CTS project id/transport target group.
Solution Manager is NOT involved in this scenario.
Does anyone know of a way to do this in ECC 6.0?

    Hi,
Try this it worked for me though,
    1. Goto SPRO_ADMIN
    2. Select the Project
    3. Choose Change
    4. Go To Transport Requests TAB
    5. Activate CTS Functionality
    6. Save it after the Pop Up
    7. Go to Se10 and check if the Project Field is getting Populated with the Desired Project or not.

  • Link to another Project folder

I need to link to a module in another project folder. I used
the click box and in the On Success chose Open other project and
picked the swf file using the elipsis. However, when I ran it, it
was looking for the file in the same folder as my current course
not in the other project folder. Can I not link to another project
folder using Captivate. We want to reuse components from one
project to another without having multiple copies in every folder.
    Thanks for all your help.

With JavaScript, you're limited primarily by your
imagination, so the example I offered was intentionally generic.
In practical use, you would probably want Captivate to pass
only the destination folder & filename and let the JavaScript
function create the full path. Assuming the relative folder
structure is the same on each server, you'd only need a single
    generic function.
For example, if you wanted to launch a file named
"introduction.htm" in an adjacent folder named "course02", you
could add the following to Captivate:
    javascript: goToMovie('course02','introduction.htm');
and add the following to your standard.js file (so it gets
automatically propagated to each published course):
    function goToMovie(strFolder, strFile)
    var arrPath = window.location.href.split('/');
    arrPath[arrPath.length-2] = strFolder;
    arrPath[arrPath.length-1] = strFile;
    window.location.href = arrPath.join('/');
The Captivate function passes the folder and file name as
quoted string variables and the JavaScript function then uses those
variables to create a new URL. You can get as fancy as you like,
such as adding logic to go up more than one folder level, but
hopefully you get the general idea.

  • Project Server 2013 for Resource Planning & Project Portfolio Management

We are looking to  use project server 2013 for resource and project portfolio management.  We are an IT department of approximately 600 growing to 1,000 within the next several years.
We would like to us PS2013 to do the following :
    Manage Portfolio of Projects
    Manage Resources against this Portfolio
Calculate Project Finances using resource roles and rates
I would be grateful to have both comments on experience , both positive and negative.
    Thank You

Many teams within organizations are turning to Project Server to help them control resources, deliverables and costs better.    It does resource management very well with work & cost resources, baseline costs, material costs, budget costs and
out of the box earned value analysis (EV).  The Strategy (portfolio) component is very powerful and it will help you identify project that align to your objects then do what if analysis to find the right mix of projects.
Here are a couple of things you should think about when moving to PS2013:
    1) Who will be using the tool?  If it is a mix of onsite staff, remote staff, vendors, contractors etc. you may want to think about a hosted solution.
    2) Training.  Don't assume everyone will just magically 'know' how to use the tool.  Train everyone (team members, PMs, Executives) then train them again.  It's the only way to truly get the value out of the tool.
    3) Who will manage the system?  This is not a typical application.  The right administrator needs SharePoint, Project Server, SQL Server,  MS Project, Analysis Services and SQL Report writing skills.  Please note that much of this can
be learned by the right person but DEFINITELY find the right person.
    4) Don't start customizing right out of the box.  You will get frustrated.  Adjust your organization to the tool early on.  I know that is easier said than done but you need a realistic approach to get tool acceptance moving early.
    5) Use workflows but don't use them right out of the gate.  Workflows are great but I suggest you wait until phase 2 or 3 to start aligning them to your business processes.
    6) Lastly and most importantly, you must first establish your own business processes THEN  align them to the tool.  DO NOT assume the tool will create business process for you.  You must think about how you are going to initiate a project,
how are you going to track deliverables, how will time sheets be managed, etc.  Get to a whiteboard, crack open Visio and start building and establishing your processes now.  PS 2013 is pretty flexible and usually will align well with existing business
    processes.
And don't forget to hire a good consultant.  They can be brought in during key phases of your roll-out to add value, help you avoid risks, and provide you with best practice advice.
    Good luck.

  • Link to other project

    Hi!
I am a Captivate beginner. I am trying to link to another project from a button. I selected:
    If user clicks on button:
On Success - Open other project
    Project - (Name of project)
When I try to project it to test it out, I get the following message: "The project (Name of project).htm, (Name of project).swf is launched at this point but is unavailable from this preview."
What am I doing wrong? Thank you for your help!!!!

    Hi there
You aren't doing anything wrong. You are testing from a Preview. The message is telling you that you will need to Publish it to see it in action.

  • Uploading Linked Captivate 2 Projects into Sum Total LMS

I've been trying to upload a series of media-rich linked
projects to our Sum Total LMS. Although there are several projects,
they are linked to play seamlessly to the end user. The problem is
when each project is published, it creates its own zip file. In
order to upload the files to the LMS they must be in one zip file
or they will upload as separate, independent learning modules. I've
encountered numerous challenges in attempting the upload.
Does anyone have any experience/suggestions about:
    - Publishing each project into the same zip file
    - Uploading linked Captivate 2 projects to an LMS, especially
    the Sum Total LMS
    - Uploading a project with flash videos to an LMS
I greatly appreciate any feedback you can provide.
    Thanks!

I always link between Captivate files to ensure that my files
are not too big. I have done this many times; however, I have not
tried it when there is a quiz involved. What I do is link them
inside Captivate, publish the files (non-zipped, which you can do
if there isn't a quiz involved) and then zip them up together with
Winzip. When you load it into the LMS, you need to choose either
"Knowledge Document" or "General Document" and there, you can
choose the launch file (whatever file you want to load
    first.)

  • Linking solution manager projects with CHARM implementation project

    Hi Guys,
Currently i am working in CHARM implementation project, i have created one CHARM implementation project with urgent correction and i am able to create the Transport request and release the transport request succesfully and i am able to move it to quality system successfully. But my customer is asking to link the solution manager project to CHARM implementation project.
Earlier before implementing CHARM they have implemented project managent in solution manager, during that project they have created so many projects which are currently running, now they want those projects to be linked CHARM implementation project.
When ever they create a transport request through CHARM they want the TP to be saved under a respective project which they are using currently. but according to my knowledge the TP can be saved under CHARM implementation project only.
Now i want to know whether the projects created in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN can be linked to CHARM implementation project. Pls give ur valuable inputs as it is very urgent.
    Thanks&Regards
    Raju

    Hello,
We have implemented this with two systems landscape where in we have in place a Solution Manager Dev system and Solution manager Production system both are SOLMAN 4.0 with SP12. So the path for us to move the changes is from Development Systems to Production system.
We have ChaRM between the Dev and production. We reapplied the satellite system concept. For us the Solution manager Prod is a satellite systems all the changes that we move from Development system to Production systems is tracked with necessary documentation in the ChaRM process.
Yes, I agree with you that this is not any big magic. Working with two SOLMAN implementation, I strongly feel that SAP needs to have well rounded ChaRm processes. We have robust Change Management Process, but when we moved to ChaRM we were limited functionality of the ChaRM processes.
I had approached and did some research on how other companies are implementing the same process. Most of them have almost the same process for tracking SOLMAN changes. I am still look out for improved process to manage SOLMA changes.
    Hope this helps!!! Thanks

  • Duplicated resources on Project Online

Creating a user when a respective resource already exists, results in a duplicated resource.
This is a Project Online implementation based on Project Server permissions mode.
    Consider this scenario:
There are 40 employees in the organization: 2 executives, a few project managers and the rest are team members. License for Project Online is purchased for only 10 employees.
The PMO creates users for the 10 employees on Project Online:
SharePoint users are created: Web AppàAdminàOffice
    365àUsers and Groups
Project Online users are created: Web AppàProjectsàPWA
    SettingsàManage usersàNew useràUser
logon account: type SharePoint user; Mark: "User can be assigned as a resource"
The PMO creates the other 30 employees as resources on Project Online on Enterprise Resource Pool.
At this point, all 40 employees are resources on Project Online.
After a while, additional 5 licenses are purchased. Steps 2.a and 2.b are performed for the respective employees.
In this scenario, there are 5 employees who are duplicated on Resource Center, i.e. appear twice: one is a non-user resource, and the over is a user who is also a resource.
How can I avoid the resources' duplication?

When employees are already present as ressource in Resource center then you need not to create new user for same employee.
    To avoid this situation
Open Resource center from PWA then Click on Resource to whom you want to make user then Click on Edit and then click on Associate Resource with user account then give AD account for reosurce and add to the group and click on same.
Once you will do this your resource will also work as User and there will be not duplication.

    Hi,
I also strongly recommend you to read the following material. It is long, I know, but covers almost everything, including your questions:
    Working with the Development Infrastructure
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/03/f6bc3d42f46c33e10000000a11405a/frameset.htm
This includes also some conceptual descriptions, tutorials, it describes among others the component model, and nwdi elements one by one like cms, dtr and cbs, etc, I believe it is a good start.
Still, let me briefly, but really only in a nutshell answer your questions.
The changes are only in inactive after checkin. You won't find in active, only if you activate (for details about actvation please refer to the above guide, since if I go into details, I am afraid the answer will be too long).
This was so far the dev/inactive and the dev/active part.
Then you release the changes and import into consolidation. Here it is indeed tricky, since a force activation takes place after a succesful import, so your changes will be visible in both cons/inactive and cons/active.
You also asked what to consider if you delete a DC:
#864515 - How To Delete a Development Component
You wanted to know where to monitor activities. For this go to the CBS webui and check the "Activities" page.
Here you can look up all the activations took place in the past,  you can check pending activations, etc, you can even use CBS webui to activate.
Release: You are completely right, there is no release feature in any webuis, as this feature was never implemented. While you can activate from NWDS and from the CBS webui, regarding release the only option is NWDS.
I hope this helps, let me know if you require more clarification.

    Hi Aman!
Take a look at these 2 reports: CN50N (Project Info System: Capacity Reqmts Initial Screen) and CMP9 (Workforce Planning - Reporting).
In CMP9, you can view the workforce planning in 3 different views: project, work center and personnel resource.
I think this might help you.
