Linking solution manager projects with CHARM implementation project

Hi Guys,
Currently i am working in CHARM implementation project, i have created one CHARM implementation project with urgent correction and i am able to create the Transport request and release the transport request succesfully and i am able to move it to quality system successfully. But my customer is asking to link the solution manager project to CHARM implementation project.
Earlier before implementing CHARM they have implemented project managent in solution manager, during that project they have created so many projects which are currently running, now they want those projects to be linked CHARM implementation project.
When ever they create a transport request through CHARM they want the TP to be saved under a respective project which they are using currently. but according to my knowledge the TP can be saved under CHARM implementation project only.
Now i want to know whether the projects created in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN can be linked to CHARM implementation project. Pls give ur valuable inputs as it is very urgent.
Thanks&Regards
Raju

Hello,
We have implemented this with two systems landscape where in we have in place a Solution Manager Dev system and Solution manager Production system both are SOLMAN 4.0 with SP12. So the path for us to move the changes is from Development Systems to Production system.
We have ChaRM between the Dev and production. We reapplied the satellite system concept. For us the Solution manager Prod is a satellite systems all the changes that we move from Development system to Production systems is tracked with necessary documentation in the ChaRM process.
Yes, I agree with you that this is not any big magic. Working with two SOLMAN implementation, I strongly feel that SAP needs to have well rounded ChaRm processes. We have robust Change Management Process, but when we moved to ChaRM we were limited functionality of the ChaRM processes.
I had approached and did some research on how other companies are implementing the same process. Most of them have almost the same process for tracking SOLMAN changes. I am still look out for improved process to manage SOLMA changes.
Hope this helps!!! Thanks

  • Handling Solution Manager changes with ChaRM (ChaRM on SolMan PRD)

    Hi Experts,
Having deployed ChaRM to satellite system (three system landscape) we became interested in handling Solution Manager changes with ChaRM. We have operable ChaRM in SolMan 4.0 SP12.
We have DEV and PRD for SolMan so we are talking about two system landscape.
Has anyone of you done this? Does it go the same way as if SolMan was a real satellite system (rfc's=>tms=>ibase=>organization=>project=>MC=>CRs = order of configurations roughly).
I tried searching specific instructions for this deployment but it seems that configuration guides etc focus on satellite system handling. Our need is basically to document and control SolMan changes and with ChaRM we could.
Perhaps there is no magic to this and everything goes just like in satellite, but I would appreciate any experiences others may have had doing this.
    Kind regards,
    Auli

    thank you,
    devendran.

hi Nick thanx for you reply. i was trying your way and the pop-up  asking the System name, Product, Product version and the installation number. (is it the right screen which i am opening? if it is not then help me out).
my doubt is what to give in the system name. i had given ECC500 and it is not taking. is there any specific charater to enter i this field? if it is there then where we are maintaining it?
in the product field i entered SAP R/3 Enterprise and Product Version SAP R/3 Enterprise 47x200 from F4 option.
the next doubt is what is the Installation number and what to give in that.

  • Template project reference in Implementation Project

    Hi,
I have defined Template Project & created Business Blueprint hierarchy for the same.
Now I need to refer the Template Project in Implementation Project.
    1) How to refer Template Project in Implementaion Project ?
    2) Can I get the Template Project reference in Implementation Project automatically in Scope OR do I need to do some settings ? Currently I am not able to see the Template Project in Scope.
    Regards
    P Kumar

    Hi Kumar,
Refer below links. Should be useful and also I am assuming that you have created master template and you want to refer master in local implementation project.
    http://scn.sap.com/community/it-management/alm/solution-manager/blog/2013/05/21/template-management-part-i
    http://scn.sap.com/community/it-management/alm/solution-manager/blog/2013/05/21/template-management-part-ii
    http://scn.sap.com/community/it-management/alm/solution-manager/blog/2013/05/21/template-management-part-iii
Master template should be visible in local implementation project under scope automatically.
    Thanks

  • Is SAP Solution manager mandatory for SRM7 implementation?

    Dear experts,
I get to know that use of SAP solution manager is mandatory for SRM 7 implementation. is it true?
what is the best practice to manage a SAP SRM implementation project? should we manage the project in SAP SM or outside of it?
    Thanks and regards,
    Ranjan
    Ranjan Sutradhar

    Hi Ranjan,
Solution Manager is not mandatory for SRM 7 implementation.
Only thing is Solution Manager contains best pratices for Project implementation e.g AS is process , to be process, blue print etc.
It is just a guilde. All things might not be  required for your project.
We did it without solution Manager except that we used it for generating installation key & for maintainance opt.
    Best Wishes,

  • Is there a way of working collaboratively on a flex project with a small project group?

Is there a way of working collaboratively on a flex project with a small project group?
I am part of a small group of developers who wish to work on a single flex project together. Is there a way to set up flex so that the project can be developed by multiple people at the same time. I have seen one thread out on the internet about working locally and then uploading to SVn but this is not an option in this case.
    Any ideas.
    Many thanks in advance
    Dave

I would say that rushing into development without a source-control system will cost you more in the long-run. If your organisation is serious about developing software it then it needs to invest in the necesary infrastructure, so you should get that process kicked-off as soon as possible.
In the interim you could set-up a source control server on one developer's machine or commandeer a spare machine to use as a temporary source control server. Just make sure you have it backed-up regularly. Or you could use one of the online source control services; many will support private repositories for a small fee.

  • Solution Manager Service Desk & ChaRM Integration

    Hi All,
I have query on integration between Solution Manager Service Desk & ChaRM. As we know u2013 it is possible to create a change request from service desk if the incident requires a change in the satellite system. In this case even we can see the list of all change requests (if we raise more than one) as connected / reference documents.
But we observe that it is possible to close the Service Desk request even if the ChaRM request is not closed / abandoned.
Just want to know if there  is any configuration in Service desk, using which we can prevent the user from closing the incident in sevice desk till the time the ChaRM change request has not got closed.
Any pointers in this regard are welcome. Thanks a lot.
    Best regards,
    vithal

You can control using BADI development. Any Check or Save ( ORDER_SAVE ) badi you can write the condition based on the change document availablity.

  • Solution Manager sync with ARIS

I believe I have done all the configuration to sync solution manager content with aris.  I followed the instructions in the aris adminstration manual.  I think I'm connecting ok with JCo, but I get the following error: function 'Z_SOLAR_READ_INSTALLED_COMPS'not found on SAP-Server
I have completed the transport of the two .sol files mentioned in the manual.  Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
look in SAP Function Builder and search for Z_SOLAR_READ_INSTALLED_COMPS. I'm sure, that your import failed or the function did not have been activated.
Here I have made a function test by my own (but for SAP ERP ECC6 - which is not the standard use). At the end of the article you can find the test method -> [ARIS BS 7.1 - VPN Handout|http://www.aris-user.de/aris/viewtopic.php?p=4722#4722]

  • Ressource Problem: Export with graphical reports from projects with integrated sub-projects

    Hi all,
i have the following problem with the exported data of the graphical reports possibility.
    Expected output:
OLAP Cube with processes and ressources
    Setup:
Project Server 2010 with Enterprise ressource pool
One main project with 6 integrated sub-projects
Every ressource is assigned to just one sub-project or the main project
    Problem:
The data (work and cost) in the OLAP Cube exported from the main project is 7 times (some reports 49 times) higher than the data in the main project
    Tested scenarios:
Export just processes -> data is correct
Export just ressources -> data is 7 times higher
Generate another main project with 2 sub-projects and no ressources in the main project - Export of processes and ressources -> data is 2 times higher
Because of the tested scenarios I expect that this is a problem caused by ressources and integrated sub-projects.
I hope that this community is able to help me to solve this problem.
    Thanks & all the bests,
    Holger

Using the "Baseline work report", I can't reproduce your issue:
I have 1 task in each project (2 projects) with a resource assigned on each task (80hrs). The report correctly shows me 160 hrs.
Which Project 2010 SP and CU do you have? I'd suggest you to install the
latest version and see if it helps.

  • Implementation Project with ChaRM

    Hello,
I'm on Solution Manager 7 EHP1 SP 6 and  all configuration work for ChaRM has been completed.  I've been following the DEMOs from SDN and SOLMAN-RKT and with some exceptions (some steps/screens are either no longer required or assumed); which leads me to believe that up to this point everything is working as is it should.
I'm still a little fuzzy when it comes to Implementation Projects.  I have the following questions:
    1. How are Non-IMG changes (Workbench) assigned to a project.
         a.  solar_project_admin -> System Landscape -> IMG only create a Customizing Request
    2. In the Normal Corrections Demo, corrections are initiated through CRMD_ORDER, is this so during an Implementation Project?
    3. In the DEMO there appears to be a Workflow notification process between task, is this active by default?
I know that's a lot all at once, but I finally got some momentum behind this and I want to keep it going.  Thanks in advance for any information you can provide; points will be awarded.
    Jose

    Hi Jose,
    1. How are Non-IMG changes (Workbench) assigned to a project.
    a. solar_project_admin -> System Landscape -> IMG only create a Customizing Request
Once you have created a Change Request transaction (SDCR), you will be able to select the follow up change document, Normal correction (SDMJ) or U'gent Correction (SDHF) for example. Then you will create a transport request under this change document. This transport request will be available in the development system where you will perform your changes. For new objects the system will ask the transport request when you are creating the object, for changes in an existing object the system will ask for the transport request when save the change.
    2. In the Normal Corrections Demo, corrections are initiated through CRMD_ORDER, is this so during an Implementation Project?
Yes, you can use CRMD_ORDER to create new change requests (SDCR) and select the Normal correction (SDMJ) in the subject field. Once this change request has been approved the Normal Correction will be created automatically. However you can create a new change request from a support message (SLFN) for example.
    3. In the DEMO there appears to be a Workflow notification process between task, is this active by default?
I'm not sure if I have understood this last question, by default ChaRM doesn't have notifications. But you can setup this in the same way of support notification. Please take a look at the following link:

  • Linking Solution Manager Project Documentation - MS Sharepoint

    Hello,
When working on a project in Solman we upload documents as needed in each phase or scenario. This is well known to all... But we already also, have an MS Sharepoint portal sometimes with documents already stored there.
Is there a way to include the link to sharepoint ?
In other words.. Is there a way to utilize the folder structure provided by sharepoint in solution manager without replicating documents ?

    Hello,
I think we found a way... Just during uploading a file to Solman, choose the option "web link", then your documentation tile will jump to the sharepoint folders.
    Thanks,,

  • Managing the administration in implementation projects

    Hi all,
I have been using the Solution Manager in implementation projects for 2 years now. However, I'm having difficulty on managing the project schedule using the administration tab in transaction solar01 and solar02:
    1.     Unlike MS project, for example, you cannot define a connection/ link between the structure elements, which means that if you have to change the start time for a process in the administration tab, i.e.,  it has no effect on the other processes/ steps' start time, even when you know that there should be an effect.
    2.     You cannot put partial person days, for example 1.5 PD or 0.4 PD.
    3.     As far as I know, if you export the project structure to a MS Project file, it is not possible to import the changes made in the file back to the Solution Manager.
For that reasons, some customers and project managers prefer to export the project structure to MS Project and manage the project schedule and resources in that separated file.
I would appreciate it if you could give me an advise based on your experience, on how to better manage the times in an implementation project, using the Solution Manager.
    Thank you,
    Adi

    Hi Adi,
I have also been using SolMan since May 2004 (from 3.1 days). Unfortunately, in my view, the functionality of Admin Tab hasn't kept up in pace as with other features of SolMan.
My suggestion is not to use it for active day-to-day tracking for the limitations you have pointed out as also for it not being the best-of-breed to manage Project Plans of a multi-location, multi-stream project.
I have, at best, used Admin Tab for Keywords and Team members - for information sake.
Also, if you use a Template Project -> Implementation Project copy, Admin tab is not included as part of 'Compare and Adjust' functionality - which means that if the same Team Members and Keywords are required on Implementation Project, you cannot get them inherited.
I am sorry that my answer kind of confirms your findings and helplessness as  opposed to providing any solution. But, that's my honest sum-up as well.

    Srini

  • ChaRM: Implementation project vs. Maintenance project

    Hi!
What is the difference between an Implementation and Maintenance proejct in ChaRM?
For both of them I can create CR's. Is not?
    Thank you very much much!
    regards
    Thom

    Hi, Thom
I think the normal corrections in both cases are the same,
and the project workflow's look's similar.
    from Sap Library:
[Workflow for Maintenance Cycles|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/en/06/172e4208d06869e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm]  vs [Workflow for Implementation Projects|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/en/1a/c39742042fc86ae10000000a155106/frameset.htm]
In my opinion, we use each project type for concrete task's (Implementation Project for business process implementation, Maintenance project - for solution maintenance).

    Oleg.

  • How can I link 1 movie file with several logic projects?

    Hi all,
I've been  working on the music for a film with a colleague of mine and are sharing logic files via dropbox. 72 cues had to be altered for logisitical reason to work in someone else's studio for the final mix. Since I had a copy of the movie on my machine and my colleague had a copy on his we thought that if we put our movie into the root directory of our logic project's folder then the movie would automatically load up with the projects after we shared them via dropbox. We checked to make sure that both movies had the same filename. Unfortunately this did not work and we had to then reassociate 72 cues individually with each logic project. With such limited time to prepare the cues for the final mix this really took too much time.
Is there any way in logic (9.1.8) to associate 1 movie file with a number of logic projects quickly, without having to open up the project and select open movie?
    kind regards
    /mischa

Seems to me that if you both had the movie file in the same location on both of your drives (eg on Macintosh HD at root level, in no other folder) then all the project files would search for this common path and find the file.
The problem arises when there is even a small difference between path names.
Unfortunately, this won't help you at this point as all the project files already are associated with unique file paths for the movie. By now, you've probably already done it one by one - but maybe for next time....?
There's no bulk or quick way to do this.
