Linking a PDF or document to an event in ical?

Is there a way that one can tie an event to a PDF or document in ical.
I could do it with mail tags 2.0 but I would first have to e-mail the document to myself then create the event from there.......
I tried doing a search but no luck.
I'm sure this can be done but I'm just trying to hard to find it.
Thanks in advance!

I find it simplest to drag the file and drop it on the "url" label. Clicking the lable then pops up "go to location" which will open the file.

  • Is there a way to create a pdf that preserves all links from the origional document?

    Hi,
I have a new, rather large, pdf document I need to create. After discovering that adobe will not reliably convert hyperlinks from an office document, I need a new strategy. Does anyone know of a program, other than office, that adobe will reliably convert the links in the origional document into links in the pdf? Or is there a different way to do this, other than adding links in adobe after I create the pdf?
    I have Windows 7, Office 2007, Acrobat Pro X, and IE 8 (I know... it's a work laptop)
    Thanks

In iTunes, File>Print. Then select your options.

  • Created a word doc with links to pdfs, is Adobe XI standard enough to merge as one pdf document

I am looking to create one flowing document, without the need to send customers lots of attachments.  I have a word document which has links to several other document types, usually pdf sometimes these have minimal volume other times these can be large in volume.  Currently I have to send all the documents as a folder, but I would like to send one tidy document, so if I convert to a pdf with Adobe XI standard will my linked documents be automatically inserted creating one document (I have not purchased yet, researching first)?

The linked documents will not be automatically converted to PDFs and merged
with your file, neither in Acrobat Standard nor in Acrobat Pro. You can do
it, but you'll need to do it manually by converting all the files to PDFs,
merging them and then adding the links between them.

  • Why do I not get the checkout option for a pdf type document when clicking on the document link in the SharePoint workflow task?

We are trying to use workflows to review and edit pdf files in sharepoint 2010. We are having a couple of issues and am hoping someone has the answer.....
    1)  When myself and coworkers click on the pdf document in the library, we get the check out option as expected.  However when we click on the document
link in a workflow task (on the sharepoint site), the pdf opens as a temporary file and we do not get the check out option.  Why does this happen?????
    2)  The same thing happens when we click on the document link in the workflow task email;   HOWEVER,  one of our co-workers does get the
check out option when clicking on the link in the email task.  Why would she get the checkout option using the email and not when clicking on the link in the task list on the sharepoint site ????  We have compared our internet settings and adobe
settings to ours and found no differences.
We are using Sharepoint 2010, Windows 7, IE8, Adobe Reader X or XI.  Some of us have Adobe Pro X and have the same issues.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you could not get the checkout option for a pdf type document when clicking on the document link in the SharePoint workflow task.
I try to reproduce the issue, however, no matter when I click the pdf type document in the library or click on the pdf document link in the workflow task email, it download the pdf doucment and then I can open it.
It will be better if you can descript how you
get the check out option as expected when you click on the pdf document in the library.
    Then I upload a
word type document to the library, no matter when I click the word type document in the library or click on the word document link in the workflow task email, I can open the word document directly and get the check out option as expected.
I recommend to use the other type docuemts to check whether the check out option works.
    Thank you for your understanding.

  • Linking a PDF document to URL in Smart forms

    Hi All,
Please anyone let me know how i can link a PDF document to a link in the smart form output.
I'm outputting Purchase order details on a smartform and I'm supposed to give an URL link for the user to click on it for Terms and Conditions.
Please note that I'm not using interactive forms in web dynpros nor developing with BSP.
I simply developed a smart form in SRM system and I'm able to display an URL but don't know how to link a PDF to that link.
Please some one let me know your ideas how i can attach a PDF to an URL in smart form.
    Thanks in Advance,

    Hi,
Follow the below blog and it is very useful achiving your requirement.
    in the blog:
    in the below  point,
    Code to send the email
Following code will transform the html content into displayable format and send email to all the recipients. Note: This form also handles the images (static) defined in the smartform, as well as the images defined with html IMG tag (eg: URL link to image on the network).
you have to convert your pDF output into displayable format. then add that link to your smartform.
    Thanks,
    Sree.

  • Links within PDF document open linked PDF documents, but seem to replace original document rather than as additional documents.

Hello good people of the Adobe Community!  I have a user of Adobe Reader XI that is having the following problem:
She is viewing, what we will call, the "main document," and this document has many links to other PDF documents.  When she clicks on one of the links, the main document gets replaced by the new document.  She then needs to re-open the main document to view it again.  This happens with every link she clicks.  I worked with the document in Reader XI and am able to open every link as an additional document, thus allowing me to immediately view both the main document and the new document.
    My questions are:
Is there some setting in her Reader that I do not have turned on/off, which is why she is having this issue and I am not?
If not, then why is the user experiencing this "replacement" of the main document?
How do I help her resolve this issue?
Thank you for your time and attention.
    Ben

I don't know if there is any way to configure this in the Reader preferences.
However, it can be decided in the document itself.  I just created a test document (using Acrobat DC) with two links:
one to open in the same window
on the open in a new window
Both links do what I selected:
one opened in the same Reader window (replacing the original document)
the other one opened a new Reader window
When creating the links there was actually a third option: Window set by user preferences.  However, I cannot seem to find such a user preference in Adobe Acrobat Reader.  The default (in my case) seems to be to open in the same Reader window.

  • Question about linking to pdf and doc documents

When I link to pdf or doc pages in my web page they always down load to the down load folder and then I have to go find them and then double click on them before they open. Is there anyway to get these type documents to open automatically when they are selected in my web page?
    thanks

Word documents should always download and.  There is no Mac option to just "Open" those files.  With regards to the PDF format that is a little different.
If you have a Mac with a Core Solo or if you are running Safari in 32-bit mode or Camino then then Acrobat should be set to open the files in a browser.  In the preferences for Acrobat make sure Fast Web View is selected and make sure you have Acrobat set to open up the PDFs.
If you are have a Core 2 Duo/Core ix Mac then you are by default in 64-bit mode with Safari.  If this is the case unfortunately Adobe has not released a patch to make the PDF reader plugin work in 64-bit mode.  Adobe's "fix" is to run Safari in 32-bit mode which isn't a fix and Acrobat is long overdue for an update.  But that aside, Preview should open up the PDF documents.  If that is not opening up the PDF in the browser I would have to look into it a little more.  Probably a corrupted plugin but I would even know where to replace it off the top of my head.

  • How do you link a pdf. document within a Keynote slide?

How do you link a pdf. document within a Keynote slide?

Gary, I'm trying to save a Keynote presentation that was created from a Powerpoint presenation using PDF files.
It imported beautifully, problem is it won't play. Keeps giving me a "Keynote cannot play your slideshow because an error occured" message.
I thought it was a Powerpoint/Keynote incompatibility thing, so I recreated the presentation - 1 pdf per slide just like you have here (I did this before finding your post) and it still wouldn't play. I even tried JPG - nothing; just horrible looking images.
    Is there something I'm missing?

  • New to PDF Portfolios - Need to Link between PDF, Word & Excel Docs

    Hello All,
Thanks in advance for your help.  I'm new to the Adobe X Pro & making portfolios.  I have figured out how to create a portfolio.  My portfolio has a main pdf document and several folders with pdf, word & excel files in them.  What I’m trying to do is link from my main document (pdf file) to the other files (word, excel & pdf) that I’ve added to the portfolio.  I’ve tried linking to a pdf file and a thumbnail of the word doc (because I did find that I can’t link to the actual word or excel doc).  When I create & test the link (for both the pdf file & the thumbnail of the word doc) it is there; I can click the link I created and it will go to the word doc.  If I close the portfolio & reopen it the link to the pdf file is there, but the link to the word doc isn’t there anymore.  That link now goes to the main pdf file and not the word thumbnail or even the folder where the word doc is saved.  Any ideas on what to do?  Thanks.

As Dave has noted you can not do this.
Acrobat/Reader would need to know what program to use to read the data in the document and since there can be many different programs that could read your document,  Acrobat/Reader would need to know exactly which program to use on one's system. You might only have MS Office but others might have both MS Office and OpenOffice.org and might prefer to use OpenOffice.org unless there is a feature that is only available to MS Office. Yes it is possible to create a program that can be configured to use specific helper programs, but it can have a real impact on system efficiency. It is easy enough to download or extract the non-PDF document and then use your program of choice. Just look to MS Outlook for a program that can not always open an attachment, especially PDF files.

  • Create links to other Pages documents

I am a singer and have been using a binder with all my lyrics in it for shows. I got an iPad for my birthday and want to use it in the binder's place. With each show the set list changes and I'd like to be able to create a setlist document in Pages with links to other Pages documents with the corresponding lyrics. The lyrics documents would be static; the setlist document would always be changing. The links in the setlist document would be like hyperlinks of sorts, except instead of taking you to the web, they would take you to other Pages documents in the My Documents folder in Pages.
I've searched all over the place for a solution. I've even tried using spotlight to search for the lyrics documents as a workaround, but spotlight doesn't find the Pages documents. Is this something I can set up on my MacBook and then transfer to my iPad? Is there other software besides Pages that can do this?
    Thank you in advance!

I think it would be much simpler to save your lyrics as pdfs and use one of the many dedicated music apps that allow you to create setlists. I use forScore (love it!), but you might also check out Unreal Book and Music Reader.
If you have a Mac, of course it's a cinch to print any file to PDF. For windows, possibly the free version of CutePDF would work for you.
EDIT I see you already have these printed out in binders. Just scan to PDF, then.

  • How do I remove a green background from a pdf text document?

I posted this question yesterday and received one reply.  I wanted to respond to the reply, but couldn't find a link or "button" to click on that would enable me to do that, so I'm doing it here.  As I'm new to this site, please advise me where the link is, if there is one.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that PDF was proprietary, with one "owner" and that PDF was PDF, so it didn't matter what program you had on your computer because PDF was universal.  Second, when I googled Nuance pdf, I was directed to this site, specifically the "Create, Edit and Export PDF's" section.  Third, I also have Adobe Acrobat with pdf and a bunch ofother Adobe products on my computer.  So, that brings me back to my original question,  how do I get rid of a green background on a pdf text document, so I don't use up all my ink when I print it.  Thanks for your patience and help.

I still use Office 2008 but have not encountered that issue. However, as Office is not an Apple product, I strongly recommend asking in the Microsoft Office:Mac forums here:
    Office for Mac
Everyone there is a Mac user AND an Office user, something you can't say about Apple's forums. You will get the fastest help there and I think you will find the contributors more than helpful.

  • Converting a document with multiple links to a word document

I am trying to convert a PDF file with multiple links to a word document.  When the conversion is complete and the document is saved as a word document I cannot access the links - I keep getting error messages or messages that say a program is not associated with the link.

    Hi laytonbarb,
    We would like to help!
Are they hyperlinks? If so - you will want to insert the links back in. If they are full links do they match the links on the pdf?
Looking forward to hearing back from you!

  • Dead links in PDF -- any further updates?

I started an lovely ebook in Pages and tested it to see how it would look in PDF, but to my dismay I found that the hyperlinks were no longer live. After searching these forums, I see this topic was discussed last September, and that Apple simply didn't put the capability of making live links in PDF exports into Pages.
Have there been an further updates on this issue? I would really hate to have to resort to using Acrobat. I've used it before and really, I'd much rather use something neat and clean such as Pages.
The iLife suite has this same problem across the board. Lovely to look at, makes beautiful documents, but severely handicapped in what you can do with it. I wish the documentation had said something in the "how to export to PDF" about this omission before I went to all that work.

You can indeed export a PDF file with hyperlinks and retain those active links in the PDF document.
I'm not sure how this does or even can answer your question, and all of your subsequent updates aren't adding much understanding or clarity to the mix. Instead of reporting repeated failures, could you try listing out:
    a. what exactly you are trying to do, and
    b. how exactly you are trying to do that, and
    c. what you expect to see happen when you do it that way, and finally
    d. what you see instead, including the text of any error messages.

  • AcrobatActiveXVB SDK Sample - Links in PDF Not working

    Hi,
I am trying to create an application in VS.net (similar to AcrobatActiveXVB SDK Sample) to display PDF files in my application.  PDF file opens fine.  But external links in PDF file are not working.  I trying to display a main index pdf file, which contains external links to 10 other PDF files.  All 10 PDF files are located in my local hard drive (main index pdf file is also located in the same folder).  If I open the main index file in Acrobat Reader then it the links are working fine.  It is not working only when it is opened inside the AcrobatActiveXVB SDK Sample.  Please help.
Please Note: Links are not grayed.  I get the hand mouse pointer, when I mouse over to the links.
    Windows OS - XP SP3
    Acrobat Reader - Tried it with 9.1.3 & 9.3.3.  Un-installed and re-installed multiple times
    Thanks in advance.

hello, the pdf viewer is still somewhat experimental and under very active development - you could try if the same error is occurring in the current development version, which you can download as an addon from http://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/extensions/firefox/pdf.js.xpi
in case it has the the same rendering problems, you could then file a bug report at https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/issues (a github account is necessary for it though) - please also provide a sample document where the error is apparent!
