Linking an SWF inside an SWF

Hello eveyone. I am looking for an easy method of my .SWF
file having a button that opens up an external .SWF internally. Any
help would be appreciated.

Swf within SWF ? If so, than go to loadMovie action.

Changing url links in SWF

Hello,
I am restyling a website as a favour for someone. The person
has a swf file in the website in which there are two links to
specific pages in his website.
The swf file (and website) are rather old and the person does
not have the original flash for the swf anymore.
Is there a way in which i can change the url's in the SWF
file?

Okay, I got a hold of the original FLA file, so luckily i did
not have to mess with conversion software.
In the original FLA i cannot seem to find hardcoded URL's.
I have noticed on the server on which the site is currently
running a file called links.txt. Inside this file i read:
&text1=products&
&url1=products.php&
&text2=home&
&url2=index.html&
&text3=events&
&url3=events.php&
&ready=all done
-----eof links.txt----
these urls' events.php, products.php and index.html
correspond to where the SWF buttons link.
I have tried filling in other urls in this txtfile but to no
luck.
How can i tell if this is the original url file that is being
used by the SWF? Can i see this in Flash (i.e. in the FLA file)?
Sorry I havn't used Flash in over 9 years.

Link between swf files.

Hello. I need to find a way to link multiple .swf files, so I may have a menu and after clicking a button go from there to any swf file and back. But i need something that works in AS 2 and 3 because my files are in both ActionScripts. It shouldn't be a problem, right? Ive been looking for and trying different things but i can't do it.

Also I have this code that works in AS3 but only for one button, when I try to make another one flash marks error. I cant link another button with another file.

Images not linking from .swf within Dreamweaver

I am hoping someone can help...it's probably an easy fix.
I had this simialar probelm of my .swf being too large (http://forums.adobe.com/message/3705787#3705787) So I went and linked all of the images.
I am placing the flash catalyst .swf into dreamweaver, adding a simple footer (for ios users that flash doesn't work for) and the uploading to the site.
This is how my folders look:
I have place the full 'deploy to web' folder within the _assets folder and placed the main.swf from this location, however when I go to the site none of the linked images are there - www.coocoocreative.com
Does anyone know where I am going wrong? (I have checked my hosting server and all the folders are there).

Ok...it was really simple and I figured that problem out. I wasn't linking the .swf relative to the site root' (ok ok, I'm still learning, please be patient )

Cmd + Click not opening links in background inside gmail

When I attempt to open links on background inside gmail the Cmd + click is not working. It opens the link in the foreground.
Though "Open Link in New Tab" in the right click context menu does open it in background.
I am using Firefox 4 on mac book pro running 10.6.7

It has now been solved over on the thread linked above !!!
Open "about:config"
Search for 'browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground'
Then Toggle the value to TRUE !

Link for SWF popup

I have pages in a training module that I need to include a link to open a swf file as a separate popup window. The main SWF files are located in:
..\Course\Module_01_Activity_01
While the file I need to pop-up is located at:
..\Course\glossary\glossary.swf
I have a number of other folders similar to the one above that will use the same code to open the glossary file. Right now, I use AS2.
I can also display the swf inside a htm if needed, but would have to define the size of that window.

the relative path is from your main embedding html file to your popup file. if your main html is in the same directory as your main swf, you would use:
getURL("../glossary/glossary.swf");

EMail Link in SWF exported from InD CS5 does not work

I'm trying to find a definitive answer on this. I have designed an interactive document in InD CS5 that has buttons and hyperlinks. When exported to SWF everything works except my e-mail hyperlink. It works fine in InDesign's preview pane. I've uploaded the file to my webserver for testing, the problem still occurs.
I found one post in another forum that quoted an Adobe InD developer stating that as of CS4 email links were not exported. However, I've not been able to find any mention of whether this works in CS5 or not.
Does anybody know for sure whether or not email links work in SWF files exported from CS5?

Sorry, no offense was intended. I had found references to problems with CS4, but nothing about CS5, and said as much in my post -- was frustrated that I had spent a long time looking and hadn't found any responses yet.
You mentioned using buttons rather than hyperlinks, and that worked for me -- but it might have just been a problem with my browser not properly reloading the flash file, too -- as I mentioned in my response.
But in any case, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUGGESTION!

Problem with link in SWF file

my name is james and i want to see if i can find help here in the forum for my problem.
I'm building a site for my friend. (the site is in hebrew so sorry....)
for the site building I'm using the software iweb - on mac.
the site is almost complete but i have 1 big problem.

I'm using a head menu in flash
i have this flash from some template i downloaded from the internet and all i had to do is change the buttons names and to change the links of the buttons to point to my html pages.
and now to the problem :
to get to the problem in general - the flash head links don't work
if i press it in the site on godaddy nothing happens i just don't see the flash head and instead i dee a page that says something like "the page can not be found"
if i go to my desktop to my site directory and press the links the only thing that happened is that the button is changing the color like I'm in the right page but I'm still in the original page.
and the strange thing is that by if i only open up the SWF file and press the links are working
and it's open up my browser and to the right page

what i have is the master index.html and 2 directories : - the first one
called flash and have 1 flash file (this file is o.k with no problem)

2. like i said i got the original FLA file and all i did is changing the buttons
names and changing the links of the buttons
the links i changed in the actions menu - i just searched for the original
url and change the names to much my website html pages names

Hi. It looks like your code is not finding the mp3. At least,
I can reproduce your error code by removing the mp3 from the
directory, or renaming it.
Btw, if you test with FF instead of IE, you'd see the error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2032:
Stream Error.

Direct link to swf file in IE

I have a setup where i am trying to make a hyperlink on a page that is to a youtube swf video load in an iframe on the same page. It is working successfully in firefox, but in IE it just gives an option to download the file and doesn't load it in the iframe.....i am wondering if there is any quick fix to this...or is there a way to make it where the hyperlink i have on the page, instead of going directly to the swf file, loads the embed code that is listed on youtube in the iframe...basically can you hyperlink to a youtube embed code

Linking between swf's - file size problem

I"m building a presentation & have two separate swf's. One is about 80 mb, the other is 40 mb. When I tried to export the larger one, I got a warning that it exceeded 16k frames. I figured out how to work around that. But now I need to integrate both swf's. If I take the smaller one & import it into the larger one as a new scene, will that blow up my export ability again? Can I link between two separate swf's using some sort of gotoAndPlay function? What are my options here? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Linking between SWF files

I need to general advice while protyping my website. I'm
creating separate somewhat large swf files for each page of my
website. Therefore, each will need its own html file if I don't
want it take 3 years to go between pages. I'm confused how to link
between the each page using a button in flash. Is this an action
script thing? My links will be static text buttons. Thanks.

One SWF file inserted as my entire index.html page. Right now
I have a static text button in the SWF file home page that says
"About Us". I'm designing a new page that will also be its own SWF
file for "About Us". I have a new www.xxxxx.com/aboutus.html page
that I plan to put the file in when finished. In the text button on
the homepage, do I use AS3 URLRequest("

Url links in swf work in standalone, but not when opened in browser

I am currently using flash to create an electronic press kit.
In that, i have 2 links to youtube (since embedding the videos was
not an option, making the file too large), and one link to
yousendit for the viewer to be able to download a pdf file.
Now when i open the swf by double clicking on it (which i can
do, but when on another computer, that has flash player installed,
the swf will not open unless opened through a browser....not sure
if that is just something where you can open an swf strictly by
itself only if you actually have flash or what....that is another
issue), but anyways, when i open the swf by itself, the links work
correctly. once opened through a browser, the links do not work.

The reason the swf doesn't open up by itself on other
computers is that it needs a Stand Alone Flash Player to do so.
Most people have the Flash plug-in for their browsers, but not the
stand alone player. If you are sending it out as a self contained
file you need to make a Projector file. It contains the SA + swf in
one file, which adds weight. Also, you need to make a Windows one
and and a Mac one. If you are using CS3, I think you can make a
Abobe AIR app that is universal, granted you install the free AIR
plug-in controlls for Flash ( I THINK. My knowlege is not totally
up to date) .
As for the links not working in the browser, its seems like
they should work. Your posted link for the file is broken, so
couldn't see. What is your code for the buttons? Are you calling
JavaScript in your html page? I've had problem with that usually a
syntax error or IE.
