Linking button to a file I have

Hi again. Here's my new question: What code I have to input in a button file in Flash, for that when I click it opens a site I've made, in a browser?
I'm doing my website in Flash, and the other website I want to put the link was made in Dreamweaver. It's not hosted, it's in my pen, that's why I'm having problems with the code.

i'm no pro in flash, and i'm using mac. However, on my side, it worked:

but i think yiou should save your file in the folder your swf is. And check your flash security. maybe you didnt allow it to open ( it happens when dealing with local files). Other than that would be beyond my knowledge.

I've been using Captivate 1 for years. I have always linked
buttons to PDF files. The only thing I really ever had to remember
was to take away the local directory address so where as only the
filename was left. When I burned to CD I would just leave
everything top-level.
Well, for some reason now Captivate won't launch my pdf file
(and yes I put the ".pdf"). It launches my web browser looking for
a web address. Here's what I do. I create a new text or image
button, next I select "open url or file". Finally I select the file
through the browse window. I immediately take off the local
directory before the filename because everything is located
top-level on the CD's I produce.
Please help, anyone. BTW I am experiencing the same thing on
Captivate 2. I'm afraid I'm doing something silly wrong since it's
been awhile. Thanks in advance .

Does by any chance you have upgraded your Flash Player
recently? Flash Player 8 and above have restriction on not
accessing the local files directly?

Link button to audio file

I have an interactive slide with four PLAYBACK buttons that I want linked to four separate audio files. If the user clicks on PLAYBACK BUTTON A, keynote will play AUDIO FILE A. Click on PLAYBACK BUTTON B, keynote will play AUDIO FILE B. Is this possible? Thanks.

Nope, there's no "trigger" for audio playback function in Keynote. Usually people end up making one slide per sound and then putting a return button on each of those slides. Click the button on your main slide and it goes to the sound slide and the sound plays, then click the return button to go back. You can actually do it pretty seamlessly if you make the other slides look just like the first one, and you stick a transparent button over the ENTIRE sound slide so that anywhere you click returns you to slide 1...but it's a lot of work. At least in your case you'd only have 5 total slides to do this though.

Are you using a mouse, or a trackpad on a laptop? Either way, your cursor is usually an arrow, right? And presumably it's working/moving MOST of the time, otherwise you wouldn't be able to do anything?
For example, can you move the cursor arrow to the "Annotate" tool to click on it and go into Annotate mode? If so, can you click on the text tool? If so, does the cursor change to a crosshairs? At what point can you NOT move the cursor around the screen?

Is there anyway to stop this from happening?

Hi Pusman,
While setting up the links, if you choose to open the file in a new window then you won't face this issue, then you can simply switch to the previous file and bookmark view will remain as it is.

Show link/button after all pages have been visited

I want to make a course that branches out, so you can pick in which order you can learn about the different subjects, and at the end of each you will get the option to go back to "main screen"(this is also where you pick which subject to learn about). There are 4 subjects that have 1 slide with 6 slides under there again.
What I want is to have a link/button on the "main screen" that allows you to go to the closing slide (just a plain thank you for your time etc), but I only want it to be visible after you've visited all the learning pages (4+(4*6)=28).
I looked at advanced actions and conditional actions, but I didn't really find anything. Anyone have any ideas or work around? Thanks!

Why Doesn't the Acrobat File Toolbar Have a "Save As" Button?

One of the most frequently used functions in Acrobat is located under the File menu where you can select "Save As" to select from a number of different file formats and then save the file in a specified folder. The File Toolbar includes a "Save" icon/button that saves only a pdf formatted file to your Documents folder (or whichever folder you specify in Preferences) instead of to whatever specific folder you might want to file that particular document. Another problem is that when you receive a pdf document by email or download it from the internet, it usually comes with a file name that you wouldn't want to use for the file. Once the file is open, you'll want to rename it and save it somewhere. However, if you have not changed the document in any way like editing or commenting, the only applicable icon on the File Toolbar, the Save button, is greyed out and can't be used until you alter the document.
As such, the easy access to the "Save" button on the File Toolbar is wasted in that it will rarely be used when it's not greyed out, and when it might be used before any editing or commenting, it remains greyed out and inaccessible. My request is to make an Icon or even just the label for "Save As" available for selection to go on the File Toolbar where it could be easily accessed. Also, let the user decide if he wants to do a save before altering a document, skip the greying out of the buttons, make them always available for use.

Unfortunately it's not a realistic possibility, because the Save As menu has two sub-levels across several nodes. A drop-down button can't handle that.

If this is a "splash page" and has a dancing company logo and
a throbbing
drumbeat- reconsider. Just make the homepage of the website
the homepage.
Don't make people wait to see some content.

Hello I am an student in holland.
I am working on a project but can't find a code to make a button what links to an html file practicly just a link
I got a html where i need to implent the applet to the applet only needs 10 buttons who can link to another html file or site.
its not realy difficult i geus but i just cant find the right codes and because i only got 1 day left im asking for help on this forum.

It's hard to tell what you're asking, but you should probably take a look at java.applet.AppletContext.showDocument.

Consider using the report generation tools. If I remember correctly they're available, in limited form, in all LabVIEW editions; the optional add-on makes it possible to generate reports in Office, but since you don't have Office installed that's irrelevant to you. It makes it easy to generate a printable report.
Also, there's no need for the sequence structure in your block diagram.

Linking button from one flash file to a different flash file

Hi All,
Wondering if anyone knows how to link buttons in one flash
file to open a specific scene of an entirely different flash file?
If it isn't possible to choose a specific scene, is there a way to
just open a flash file...in the same browser window, but not within
the flash file...if that makes sense?
I'm putting this on a website, so additionally, I will need
to know which file to link it to, the swf, html, or fla.

I would advise against using scenes for your website. You
would need to create a separate html which would load the second
swf file within the same browser window.

How to Identify titles that have lost the link to the music file/folder..

Is there a way of listing all the Music titles that no longer have a valid link to the source file and deleting them. I am afraid in my previous inexperience i inadvertently messed things up while trying to organise... ehum... Anyway, trying to organise again hopefully with more success now. I will keep in touch with the current Applications Engineer who will be assisting you with this issue and update the forum with the status of the problem. I personally think that your best option would be to create a link that opens DIAdem and then runs a script to load the data from a predetermined file (Rather than a link to the file itself).

Initially i wanted to use a combobox for the name and display

When I click a link to a pdf file, I'm only presented with a save box,not a choice to just view the file. I have been able to view linked files in the past, but not anymore. I have to save the file to downloads then go to downloads and open it.

That depends on how the server sends the file.
If this is a MIME (content) type that is supported by other software then you can open the file automatically.
If the file is send with a generic content type like application/octet-stream or as Content-Disposition:attachment then you can only save the file.
