Linking two text fields together.

I need to link to text fields together as if it were in word or notepad, you simply hit enter to go to the next line at the end of the text field.
Is it possible?

Set the first field to Limit Length to Visible Area and on the full event place this script:
xfa.host.setFocus(Field2Name);
where Field2Name is the name of the field you want the cursor to appear in after the first field is filled up. The user won't need to hit enter, the cursor will just move to the second field when the first one is full.

Word Processing templates have what is called a Document Body.
That is the area defined by the margins and holds a default text area which flows from page to page.
Examples of WP templates are the Letters, Reports, CVs etc.
Layout templates have that switched off and require you to add Textboxes or Shapes into which you can type text. Each page is an individual Section and no text flows from page to page.
Examples of Layout templates are the Brochures, Business Cards, Posters, Newsletters etc
In Pages '09 you can manually link Textboxes to flow in your own set order and across pages. Pages 5 has dropped this along with 100 other features.

Join two text field together.

I am making a form that supervisors will use to send to me when new employees are hired. I want to be able to take the two field that I have "First Name" and "Last Name" and join them together. The only thing is I only want the first letter of thier first name and whole last name. Example: Tom Jones will equal tjones. I was able to locate a Java Script to join the first letters of each field. Programming is not my forte so I was not able to change it to how I need it. That stript is below.

The script will adjust for null strings and can join up to 3 fields with adjustment for null values.

How to link two text boxes so that text flows from one to the other.

In Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, I have managed to link two text boxes with JavaScript.
I have deselected the "scroll long text" and selected auto text size.
I have entered the script into the "custom keystroke script"

Now my problem is this works for IE but I can't get it to work with adobe reader or pdf expert on iPad.
I need my forms to work with both, windows & ios.

iOS and android devices are not a powerful as your desktop of laptop computer and have limited support for JavaScript within PDF forms. This limitation for specific apps ranges from none to quite a bit but not all JavaScript.

Linking two video clips together

I cannot find the way, how to link two video clips together so, that when moving one, the linked clip follows.
Is there a way of doing that?
The manual gives nothing with words: "linking video clips".

You can't link video clips to each other. You can nest them. Put the two clips in a sequence the way you want them. Put the sequence with the two clips inside your master sequence. They will act as a single clip. That's the only way.

OBIEE: Link Two Separate Queries Together

Hi,
I am trying to link two separate queries together in BIEE.
I have a query that will give me the sales value in January 2012 (monthly query)
But I would need to use the sales value of January 2012 to help derive the weekly sales value in another query (weekly query).
How would you link up two queries together?
I tried using union but it doesnt seem to be working.

Sure, My pleasure. Here are the basic steps what you could go through.
1. Create an analysis with your Month (January) and Sales.
2. Save this analysis as Report1.
3. Create another analysis with Week and Sales.
4. Create a filter on column:Sales using the option 'Based on Another Analysis'. The analysis editor will provide you an option to browse your other analysis which you want this analysis to be based on and just click on this browse button, and navigate to and select Report1.
5. Once you have selected Report 1 through browse option, you get down in the same pop-up the relationship and use values in column.
So sample entries in this pop-up might look like
Column : Sales
Operator : is based on results of another analysis
Saved Analysis : /My Folder/Report1
Relationship : is equal than
Use values in Column : Sales
6. If you run this analysis, you could get all weekly sales figures which are equal to the january sales figures.

Hi Phill,
You could use floating fields, where the inputs are hidden and bound to your incoming XML. In the visible {} fields, you can set one of these to bold. The advantage would be that the two displayed floating fields will flow depending on the content.

Linking text fields together

Hello, I am using Adobe Acrobat X Pro, the latest version in Windows 7.
I had a quick question, I am trying to make a form for my business in PDF (Link to picture below, some parts are censored out)

I have this on Microsoft Word, on the left is the logo and business information (censored), top right business name (censored).
Now this is in Word and it works perfectly except I do not want anyone to be able to edit this file because we email them to clients and such.
Under Property Information I have fields where we can type the "Work Order number", a dropdown selection for "Client" and clicking the "Date & Due Date" opens a calendar which I can select the date (Picture below).

And the "Address" has 2 text boxes, one on top and another one in the bottom which are both linked (see picture below for outline of the 2 text boxes),
so I start typing on the top and it automatically continues to the bottom.

Now I want to move this to a PDF, can I do everything I do in Word in Adobe, and only make the form fields editable and nothing else?
We process hunderds of orders a day and I need all of these features, I would gladly appreciate it if someone could tell me yes/no and guide me if possible.
I gave it a shot today but could not figure it out.

There is no built-in date picker for a form that you create in Acrobat. There's is one available for date fields that you create in LiveCycle Designer, which comes with the WIndows version of Acrobat Pro. Some people use a collection of form fields to implement a date picker in Acrobat, as is available with the free Form ROuter Toolset: http://www.formrouter.com/tools/index.html
For the address field, fields can only be rectangles. If you use two separate fields, one for each line, there's not a really seamless way to link the two. For fields like this, I just design the form so the first and subsequent lines are the same width.

If you are using FormsCentral it is, the fields can be placed "side by side" in a row. There is a "+" sign on the right side of the field that brings up a toolbar to add a field adjacent. You can also right click on a field and select "Insert beside", or you can "drag and drop" fields next to one another or to a new row.

PS - One note, if you are using the "desktop" application of FormsCentral that comes with Acroat Pro XI make sure the application is up to date by either using the "Help" - "Check for updates" menu item or by signing into the application so that you have the latest features including the side by side layout.

How to combine two text fields from two lines to extend text.

I am working on a form to enter property descriptions sometimes it takes one and a half lines of text. Is there a way to force the first line of text to continue onto the next text field on the next line with out having to tab? I was wondering if there was something like a text overflow to the next field. An example is I might have two words in the middle of the second line and a field on both sides. I just want the top to connect to the first next line field. pcwp55

This must be the day after Christmas or something Crazy people like me are still working. Okay -- I figured it out. Add a table with a single row and two columns, then insert a text field in each one, making it side-by-side. The trick is to make sure it is within the subform, and you must select the row and make sure to check "Allow Page Breaks within Content" on that row, because it isn't a default. It works. Linking/Grouping Text Fields with a Check Box Field

Disclaimer: I know nothing about coding/scripting in Acrobat (or in any language, for that matter).
I have 4 sets of text fields, call them A, B, C, and D. All of the fields in set A will have a value entered. There are 10 fields in set A while sets B, C, and D may have as many as 104. Sets B, C, and D will always have a one-to-one-to-one correspondence with each other (B1 is associated with C1 and D1 only and so on). My dilemma/desire is two fold:
First:
I want to be able to group 3 to 4 of the fields in set C if I tick a check box/radio button/whatever field type works. When the fields are grouped, I want their values to be the same within the grouping. These fields should also be ungrouped when the marker field is unchecked/deactivated. No field will ever be in any more than one group.
Second:
I want values for set B to equal a value of set A if there is a value entered in that B's corresponding C field.
Please don't hesitate to point out where I can make any of this clearer.

Sorry, I referenced InDesign and this file was created in Illustrator. (I have been working with numerous files created in both InDesign and Illustrator, with numerous challenges). I do not have the native document nor Illustrator software, only Acrobat. When I previously loaded the InDesign-created pdf file(s) into Acrobat, I was unable to use the Text TouchUp Tool because I do not have the fonts on my system that were used to create the documents in InDesign, thus I am denied access to the text. With this file, created in Ilustrator; I assume because the text resides within the image created that encompasses the entire page, the Text TounchUp Tool and Object Tool have no response when I click on the page after activating the tools with a click, although the Tool Bar allows me to click on the icons to activate the functions.
I have read elsewhere that InDesign and Illustrator files are exported as images, thus requiring either Photoshop or Illustrator to fully edit outside of the originating software. However, I was hoping that I could create interactive forms by overlaying fields with Live Cycle Designer - I did not anticipate the default setting of the check box labels being unchangeable. Sounds like I am at a dead-end with this issue??

O.K, you do not link ".java" files together.
You compile them into class files and they can create new instances of each other and and access their variables and work together.
I recommend "Sam's Teach Yourself Java in 21 Days".
It will start you out with the basics.

Comparing data in two text fields

I have two text boxes which compares the value in one text box with other. Assume Text Box 1 has value as 1234 and Text Box 2 has value 12345,123,12346. Now I will be greying out the text box 1 by applying rule as If Text Box 2 contains Text Box 1 then do
conditional formatting of greying out. In this scenario Textbox 2 doesn't contain the value of Text Box 1 how ever the condition turns out to be true and then greys out. Its takes 123 which is present in text box 2 and as it finds
relative match with 123(neglecting 4) it is returning true.
Text Box 2 value is obtained by concatenating several text box values with commas. I want to perform exact match and grey out if it contains. Is there a way I can grey out the text box 1 by comparing the value in text box 2 before and after comma of each
value in textbox.

I recommend to set the Text Box 2 value by concatenating values with commas like this: “value1,value2,valu3,” (with a comma after each value).
Then we can set the rule like this(Text2 for Text Box 2 field, Text1 for Text Box 1 field):

Sapscript - displaying two text fields after truncating the spaces.

In a sapscript, I have to display the name of the vendor which is in two different fields each of length 40 chars. The first one may be filled to the maximum and the remaining goes into the second field and may occupy only 30 or 35 chars. I need to display the two side by side and the space available is 70 chars. I am using an existing script and I am not able to print the two side by side. It is going to the next line. How do I truncate the trailing spaces of either field. Please help. It is quite urgent.
