Links aren't opening properly

Hi everyone, in the past two months my iMac has started giving me a very annoying pop up window about half the time a click a link. Rather than simply opening the link I get a pop-up that asks me if I want to open in a new window, or open in a new tab, etc, instead of simply opening the link with one click like I've done forever with different computers. Any suggestions? Thanks

Oh dear, it's getting worse. Now I'm not confident that I did anything meaningful earlier - I've double-checked and it's not like an obvious box is/is not checked. I'll attach a screen shot of what is happening even if I'm trying to scroll through photos on a page - really crazy making. Note the pop up box that appeared when I was trying to advance through the photos using the blue arrow buttons. Mayday!

I run safari 1.3.2 on OS 10.3.9. Initially a pdf link in safari would open properly by using the adobe plugin or whatever. Now a pdf link opens up using the Quicktime plugin. How can I manage plugins and get pdfs to open properly in safari?

Barry, that sounds like your talking about choosing a opening application in the finder, thats not my problem, I want safari to use the correct plugin for pdf file links, how do i do that?

Links aren't working properly

Good morning. Hopefully I can explain this clearly. I've had my website for a few years and it has always worked fine. It isn't a site that I change often, so I do forget "how to do things."
In September I removed one dog page and added two dog pages. I removed "Leah." I added "Adam" and "Bella." At the time, I didn't have photo or info for "Bella" page, so I just kinda threw Adam page as sort of a placemarker. I did create a button in Photoshop that said Bella on it and placed it on the site.
Yesterday I got photo and decided to make "Bella" page. Here's the result, meaning here's how the buttons work right now, which is wrong:
Home = Home. Panya=Panya. Zafra=Zafra. Adam=Adam. Bella=Adam.
The final few buttons work okay and take you to the proper page.
If you are on Puppies page and click on Bella button, you actually will get to the Bella page.
If you are on Future page and click on Bella button, you get a page that shouldn't even be there, named Leah.

Of course I have done some site checks, and I pretty much don't understand what the results mean, because like I said, I kinda forget a lot of this program; not sure that I ever really "got it" to begin with, obviously. Thanks for help.
I forgot to mention, when I'm on the Adam page and click and drag that circle to link to proper file, even after saving, it changes back. It keeps changing back to Zafra, which is the button above on the site. If I change Bella button to link to Bella file, then Adam link changes back to Zafra.

Keep resetting firefox, it doesn't keep settings (I.E. to open on my home page), and when opening a tab the 3*3 links aren't there.

When I set my Firefox to open to my home page, the next day doesn't keep the settings, and when I open a new tab, the 9 click links aren't there. I have reset twice and have no toolbars, but it repeats.

Yoga 2 Pro: Google Chrome does not open properly

I have a Yoga Thinkpad 13.3 convertible which I recently upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 with no apparent problems. A few days later I tried to open Google Chrome - the screen wouldn't open properly and wouldn't respond. I tried to uninstall the progam and couldn't do that either, or download a new version. A computer technician friend has since managed to get Chrome to uninstall and cleared the registry and downloaded Chrome again but it still isn't working - the screen shot is what it's like at the moment and he is baffled, he's never come across this before. Is there a conflict between Chrome and Windows 8.1?
If anyone has a solution please explain in simple language I'm not particularly computer literate when it comes to technical speak.

Chrome works fine in 8.1
Try creating a new user account, then uninstall/reinstall chrome using the offline installer.

I have a graphic with a hyperlink in an Outlook email. When I open on it on my iPhone I get the option to email, save, tweet, FB, etc. The text hyerlinks in the email open properly. Can anyone help?

I am sending an email from Outlook. It has a graphic with a hyperlink and it has text with hyperlinks. When I open the email on my iphone, the text hyperlinks open properly. The graphic hyperlink gives the options to email, tweet, FB, print, copy, etc. Can anyone help me correct this so that the graphic links opens in the website it's linked to? Thank you.

Try checking the hyperlink for the image in MS Outlook.
Select image in signature, then click "Insert Hyperlink" image to the far right of Edit signature toolbar.
Click "Target Frame" button.
Select "New Window", then "OK".
After doing this, it solved my problem.

Clicking a link will not open a new tab

On a Win7 computer, Firefox 34.0.5 works fine for the administrator account. For the user account however, a new tab will not open when clicking on a link in a web page. The settings under options / tabs are all checked properly. I have uninstalled Firefox, removed all the files from the profile directory for the user, then reinstalled Firefox - got the same result. I even uninstalled Flash player per https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1032376 - still, a new tab will not open when clicking on a link in a web page. Have tried safe mode and restoring defaults without any luck. I suspect the answer is simple (Occam's razor) - just can't seem to find it though.

As John99 stated, that is the normal way that Firefox handles links. The setting in options refers to when links are coded to open in a new window, do you want a new window or do you prefer a new tab.
In addition to the methods John99 listed, Ctrl+click opens a link in a new tab (nearly always; links intercepted by scripts can evade it).
If you want ALL links to AUTOMATICALLY open in a new tab, you would need an add-on for that. I don't use it myself, but Tab Mix Plus has a very rich set of options for where to open links, bookmarks, etc. You can read more about it here:

As a footnote, Google has a search preference ([https://www.google.com/preferences here]) that codes results to open in a new window, so that's why I asked if you only noticed the difference on particular sites.

Web pages aren't loading properly

Since installing Mavericks Web pages aren't loading properly. Neither with safari nor chrome. I've added the Open DNS to the DNS pane but makes no difference. Many pages don't download images, and look like the CSS hasn't loaded either. Have emptied browser caches too.

So, I changed my DNS servers to Google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and all is well.

To open your domain file in Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with AppleScript Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.

You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain. Note: you may have to Control (right) - click on the app after uncompressing and select Open due to the Sandboxing feature of OS X. If you have problems with the app create your own with AppleScript Editor.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible in Lion or Mt. Lion enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

A 1.5 project that can't open properly in CS3!

I have a rather large 1.5 project that refuses to open properly in CS3. Changed the drive letters allready and still nothing. Says files are missing and should be found...but its hard as I have the same name on a COUPLE OF FILES so pls any help will be appreciated!

You will need to activate your trial version - Adobe Premiere doesn't install a bunch of its codecs (including the mpeg ones used for previews) until it is activated.
Then... try to open the project - it'll probably fail the first time after activation, but then Premiere shold notify you that it needs to download and install codecs that aren't installed with the trial.
Let it do its thing, then try reopening your original project.
Just happened to me 30 minutes ago... Just had to reinstall my system and had forgotten to activate Premiere Pro.
After the codec install, everything opened fine.

PDF-Portfolio: link doesn't open a document in a new window

i use Acrobat 9 Pro on Win XP SP3.
I will use a link from a maindocument into a PDF-portfolio to another Portfolio document in the same file.
But the (linked) document should be open in a new window.
I can customize the option: targetdocument open in a new window, but this option/function doesn't work.
The document will always open in the same portfolio-window.
(Create link with link tool>add action>go to a page view in another doc> set link> edit action> open targetdocument in: a new window)
sorry, for the description, but i have only the german GUI.
Is there a change to use a JavaScript in the link?

Safari 6.0 crash when right clicking a link and choosing open in new tab

Hi all, just a general question. I admit i did not search the forums yet. Hopefully this little annoyance can be resolved.
When using safari on say CNN.COM i'll right click on a link and choose Open in new tab. safari randomly disappears. no crash warnings, just gone. I can open it right up and be fine sometimes all day. This has happened to me about 5x since ML was released (i wiped my laptop the day it came out)
This has happened on a couple of different website at different times of the day. only safari was running. No other apple apps have this issue.
I have a MacBook Pro from earily '08 type 4,1
i have only apple software on this machine
i do have adobe flash installed v11.3 updated today.
i do have lastpass enabled
i do have ad-block disabled
While i'm waiting for help from you guys i'll disable all addon's and try to remove adobe to see if that is the issue. Is there any other steps i can try like delete .plist file or maybe even trying a new user profile. I am a IT professional and am not afraid to get my hands dirty trying to get this resovlved.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

Step 1
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". IMovie won't open properly

iMovie won't open properly. I tried reinstalling it and it still won't open. Any ideas? I attached a screenshot so you can see what I'm talking about.

This is what I get when I try to open iMovie. I also tried deleting the prefecences and it didn't change anything.

Open Acrobat. Use the click-path Edit - Preferences - select the Category "Email Accounts". In the dialog there is the "Add Account" drop-down. Select "Add Other". The "Add Webmail Account" dialog presents. You'll fill out the dialog's fields with Outlook.com settings. (don't forget the "Advance Settings" button)
From a look-see on the web it appears that the following are the needed settings. BUT, you'll be wanting to validate.
The Outlook.com SMTP server settings for sending outgoing messages from an email program on desktop, cell phone or mobile device are:
• Outlook.com SMTP server address: smtp.live.com
• Outlook.com SMTP user name: Your full Outlook.com email address (not an alias)
• Outlook.com SMTP password': Your Outlook.com password
• Outlook.com SMTP port: 587
• Outlook.com SMTP TLS/SSL encryption required: yes
For incoming messages from an Outlook.com account to an email program using POP, use the Windows Live Hotmail POP3 server settings.
