Links/Graphics are editable

When exporting All Stories from InDesign to InCopy, you can still edit graphics in InCopy. Isn't that a bug?

In InCopy CS4 I couldn't edit in native application, but can now. Not good.
And I can't reposition the frames because I haven't exported those frames. Still good
But the whole idea (in my setup) is that the user is only allowed to work with the text.
Now they can change the graphics totally, which they couldn't do in CS4
Sorry, my mistake and thank you for deleting..

I check plug ins and most are up to date. However, not clear for window presentation foundation is and if it was necessary to have. The plug in state was unknown. Please advise on what to do? Thanks!

  • How do I export from PDF to PPT so that shapes created in Illustrator are editable

How do I export from PDF to PPT so that shapes created in Illustrator are editable, not just text on top of them? I used the Acrobat XL Pro technique described here (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/pdf-to-powerpoint-pptx-converter.html), to export a graphic I had created in Illustrator and saved as an Adobe PDF file, but shapes are not editable and are fuzzy too. Is there a way to export a complete Illustrator graphic to PowerPoint?

Thanks Bill. Of course I realize I can insert an Illustrator drawing into a PPT without making it a PDF first. What I’m trying to do is insert a drawing from Illustrator that is still editable in PPT (a client request). Using the Acrobat XL Pro capability shown in this video <http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/pdf-to-powerpoint-pptx-converter.html> , only the text is editable in PPT, not shapes created in Illustrator.

  • EPub graphics are not sized correctly

ePub graphics are not sized correctly after transfering ePub to my iPad using iTunes.
I am running indesign 6.0 on microsoft system 7 and transfering the ePub to my new iPad (32gb  2048 x 1536 resolution).
The graphic is set for "custom rasteration" with size set to "relative to page width".
The graphic displays correctly in Adobe Digital Editions but when I transfer the ePub to my iPad it appears full size.
If i set the cover to "Rasterize first page" the graphic on the cover is sized correctly but the graphic in the document is full size.
When i create the identical file using inDesign 5.5 everything works correctly.
What am i doing wrong or what setting am I not setting correctly?
    Thanks,
    Dennis

Welcome to the world of how different EPUB readers handle the same HTML and CSS code.
I just did a test with a picture which had the Relative to Page Size and Custom Rasterization settings from InDesign CS5.5  and CS6.
As far as I can tell each version of InDesign is writing the correct code but in a different way. ADE responds to it the same, but iBooks on your iPad does not.
Here are the details: I created a 45 pica wide text frame and anchored a 14 pica wide graphic frame.
InDesign CS5.5 exports the relative size as part of the image tag like this:
    <img width="31%" src="images/CMYK%20balloons_fmt.jpeg" alt="CMYK%20balloons.psd" />
InDesign CS6 creates a class for the <div> tag for the graphic frame and references it in the CSS it creates. Here's the HTML:
    <div class="frame-2">
    <img class="frame-1" src="image/CMYK%20balloons_fmt.jpeg" alt="CMYK%20balloons.psd"
                                             />
    </div>
    Here's the CSS for frame-1:
    img.frame-1 {
         width : 27%;
I would say that both of those are correct code. However, iBooks handles the CS6 version differently.
Here's how the CS5.5 version looks in iBooks:
And here's how the CS6 code looks:
It handles it differently. So I'd say, if it's important that on the iPad, that it be smaller, you should edit the code to insert the scaling attribute into the HTML tag instead of the CSS,

When I export an indesign document the graphics are missing from the eps file.

The why it isn't working can be a number of reasons. While I never have exported an EPS out of ID before, I just tried it and it worked fine.
What "graphics" are missing? I used bitmaps, native drawn ID vector, lines and a placed EPS file. Came into AI as an opened EPS fine.
Links up to date? For items not hitting the EPS, are they on a layer set to non-printing?

  • ICE links, clickable and editable

    Hi All,
I want to make my links clickable and editable. Much like you see when you are using ICE and you hover over menu items. You have the option to edit the name of the menu item and also click on the link to navigate to a different page. When hovering over the menu item a small arrow will appear allowing you to click.
I have nested accordions in my site. When they appear in ICE they need to be clicked to drop down and reveal the content which I have made editable for my client. I would also like the client to be able to edit the links names, however when making this editable it disables the click function and as a result disables the accordion.
Does any one know the code eg: <div ice:editable="html"> to make a link, editable and clickable?
    Cheers
    David

Not an expert at the ICE technique just yet, but I've tried a few things that might help.
    Wraping your a tags with:
    <div ice:editable="html" ice:options="bold,italic,|,link"><a href="/contact">This is a link</a></div>
this will allow you to follow the link or change the text/link
if you put the ice attributes on the a tag, which i think is how they want you to do it, you will only be able to follow the link and change the text. not the href.
so just wrap your accordions with the div above.

  • Graphics are Pixelated During a Rendered Playback

I am editing 720x480 DVCPro-NTSC footage in 720x480. I have an intro that is all graphics. When I play back, the graphics are noticeably pixelated...even after it is rendered. Is there a filter or setting I should apply to correct the problem?

I think I might have solved my own problem. I added a De-interlace filter to my logos and text and they look better. The De-interlace was set at "Flicker Filter Max".
Does anyone know why this problem happens?
I'm editing the video in 720x480 and a video in 1280x1080. They use the same logo that I built. I built the logo in a 1280x1080 sequence. The logo looks great in 1280x1080, but pixcelated in the 720x480 (mainly around the edges). Any answers to that?

  • Distortion of exported/linked graphics

We are using InDesign CS4 for documents relating to a printed test. This test consists of a book containing over 20 different documents. There is also a scoring key and that's where we are running into problems. We exported the book to a PDF file which we are using for printing the test book. For the scoring key, we created a new InDesign document and linked the PDF of the original test. Then we added a layer and created the scoring key indicators on top of the linked book graphics. To print the scoring key, we simply hid the layer with the original test and printed only the scoring key portion. This works great with one exception...the imported graphics are not the same size as the original InDesign documents. This causes the scoring key to be wrong resulting in obvious problems when using the scoring key on the printed tests.
We have tried sizing the imported graphics up, but it doesn't seem to be a plain sizing problem; the image is actually distorted. I'm not sure whether the distortion occurs when InDesign exports the PDF or when the PDF is linked in as a graphic.
I could copy the book and associated documents and then add the scoring key layers to that but I'm hoping to avoid having all those copies which leads to confusion when updates are made. Also, the test is in two different languages with two different scoring keys so, if we went that route, I would have four copies of each of the files.
Is there a way to resolve this challenge without using multiple copies of files? Or to export and then link a PDF file that more accurately follows the original InDesign files?

I would consider taking a step backwards right here and removing all the currently placed links pdf's. The process of selecting everyone with each tool to verify position is going to be cumbersome.
Assuming you have placed the scoring key on a unique layer, delete the placed document layer. Create a new replacement. Use one of three excellent scripts for placing multiple page pdf or InDesign documents.
Test one to a few pages in the script, to verify Place to Trim, than run it on all pages. IMO a quick fix.
Do you have, are you aware of Scott Zanneli's (?) Place Multiple Page script?
Peter will have quicker access to the link I expect.

  • Xorg graphics are all messed up and glitchy (screenshots) How to fix?

I've set up a new system, but the graphics are super glitchy!

  • 'Default Still' graphics are getting substituted on export - bug?

Much of my work is on TV commercials with multiple excecutions of on-sceen pricing/region-specific URLs etc. My usual workflow is to create the initial overly graphic for the first ad using Default Still. Once the client is happy with this I duplicate the initial Default Still in the Project window, then I edit the duplicate to create the text for the second ad and so forth - thus maintaining all the layout and formatting from the first implementation.
All the versions of the ads play correctly in the Program Viewer, i.e. correct graphic variations are married to the right ads. I use the Export command to create an individual .mov master of each version of the ad. I check the ad I'm exporting is correct by scrolling back and forth in the Export Settings preview pane, and again the correct graphics are still in place.
Now here's the problem... I've recently had several ads sent back to me with the wrong text on them. I've checked them on the sequence and they're correct, no screw-up on my part. What seems to be happening here is the Export process is (seemingly at random) using the text from my initial Default Still rather than the amended duplicates that I have placed in the sequence. Frustratingly, Premiere correctly displays the correct graphics at all stages until I've squeezed it all down to a master. This is a workflow I've been doing for a while, but this oddity has only reared it's head in the past month or so. The only workaround I've found is to watch every exported .mov start-to-finish and when I spot an error I restart Premiere and re-export with my fingers crossed!

Here's what has worked well for me, never any weird issues. Create your "default" still and place as needed on the timeline, add dissolves, etc.
Now one by one, double-click a title on timeline to open Titler, then hit button at upper left for "New Title Based on Current". Name it, update the "new" title text and exit. Now right-click that "default" still on the timeline and select " Replace > With Clip from Bin". This replaces the "default" title with the new one you'd just made, keeping any attributes already applied to "default".
An example for me is a dance recital with 40 acts. I create my first title, add to timeline and make it the right length, add the fade in/out on the ends. This is now a "template" for me with correct font, sizing, layout. I will then copy/paste that same title between every act (with correct length and transitions applied already). Will then go through and update/replace each "template" title into correct title for that spot in the program and formatting is consistent throughout the program on all titles.
    Hope this helps you

  • Which Illustrator CS3 files are editable in Microsoft Word?

    Dear all
I need to design something using InDesign and Illustrator CS3 (or just one of these depending on the responses I get).
Is is possible to save a particular file type out of either Illustrator or InDesign which can then be opened & edited in Microsoft Word (on a PC)? It would mainly just be text which would need to be edited in Word afterwards.
    Thanks in advance,
    Adam

    >Which Illustrator CS3 files are editable in Microsoft Word?
    None of them.
    >Is is possible to save a particular file type out of either Illustrator or InDesign which can then be opened & edited in Microsoft Word (on a PC)?
You can export text from InDesign and open/edit that text file in Word, but you will not get layout, page size, columns, margins, or graphics. You can export art from Illustrator as EMF or PNG (I much prefer PNG) them import those graphics normally and position as you want.
Making your Illustrator or InDesign file into an editable Word file means doing a lot of it over again in a much worst interface.

  • Linked graphic reverses to its original size in alternate layout

Hi, I'm using “Create Alternate Layout” function to export different orientations as well as sizes for my book. However, I’ve encountered problem keeping the graphic (size) inserted in the text frames as it is: the linked graphic in my second layout was resized to better fit the new layout, and I’ve checked every item in “preserve local edits while updating object links”; the graphic is, however, inserted in the threaded text frames (meaning it’s not a single object) in order to keep the text flow. My question is, every time I have updated the contents, the linked graphic in my second layout reverses to its original size. How can I fix this?

I have exactly the same problem. The main photo in my (14) alternate layouts resizes whenever I adjust the size of the photo on the original layout, despite my having checked off all and/or a combination of 'preserve local edits' options in the link options dialogue.
I could just place the photo (unlinked from the original layout) into all of my alternate layouts, but life would be easier if Indesign honored the 'preserve local edits' rules I established initially.
    What's up with that?

  • Embedding linked graphics?

Does anyone know if it is possible to use a script to embed all linked graphics into a doc? I've looked for 'embed' in the Applescript/Indesign library, but there are no entries for images. I want to add this functionality to a script that saves to multiple formats for a production workflow and embeds the graphics in order to create an archive version of the adverts.

It's not exactly intuitive -- you need to use the "unlink" command, for example:
unlink every link of document 1
