  • Linksys Wireless Adapter is killing me

Okay, I have a WUSB54G V2 Linksys Wireless Adapter that I used to use for my PC, but I have a G4 Tower, running 10.4.11 that I want to hook it up to. I've been searching for about 2 hours for a driver for it and have come up with nothing. I have learned some stuff about the RT2500 driver by Ralink to possibly help with it, and I followed some tutorials for it as well. Nothing seems to work though. If you could possibly help me I'd be forever grateful. thanks!

It's so hard to tell what chipset they actually use, but it does not appear to be the Ralink 2500, possibly the Ralink 2501 or (RT73 ?) chipsets..

  • Problems with Linksys Wireless-B Adapter

I was wondering if anyone had any problems setting up a wireless network using their MSI Neo2 Platinum. I currently have a linksys wireless adapter connected to mine, and there is no wireless signal being received by the adapter. The adapter is getting power, and is detected by XP, but there is no signal. I tried moving the computer closer to the router, but to no avail. I currently have the PCI card connected to the network PCI slot, but before I had it in one of the others. Made no difference really.
I called linksys and that didn't work. The same card works in a biostar board that my sister's computer has, and works perfectly there. I can't seem to find the problem so now I'm going to go ahead and blame it on this wonderous motherboard :P. System specs if you need it:
    Processor: FX-55
    Motherboard: MSI Neo2 Platinum
    Memory: Corsair TwinX1024 PC3200
Hard Drives: 2 Seagate Barracuda's 120 GB (each) SATA
What's wrong?! Thx in advance for the help.

My son hooked up a Linksys 2.4 GHz Broadband Router to my Yahoo DSL modem. My Mac computer operates on OS 10.2.8 and my son's computer is a PC laptop. Everything was working fine until I my desktop screen went blank. I reinstalled everything and attempted to install Yahoo DSL. While I could not operate DSL on my Mac, my son was able to use the internet on his PC laptop. I disconnected the router and reloaded Yahoo DSL software and it works, but my son can't use the internet now. Recently Microsoft discontinued support Internet Explorer (IE) for Mac computers. Do you think I need to re-install IE on my computer even though I don't use it? When I installed Yahoo DSL, the Yahoo DSL icon never reappeared. All I do now is click on Firefox, Netscape, or Safari to get on the internet.

  • 2g Shuffle crashes wireless adapter

    Hello,
I'm a dell machine with windows xp and whenever I plug in my new 2g shuffle I get an error message saying windows does not recognize my device and then it crashes my wireless internet connection. I am using a Linksys wireless adapter on my home machine. I moved my machine and hard wired and the shuffle worked like what you expect from all Apple products! I moved it back and reconnected to wireless plugged in the shuffle, same error message, wireless does not work and shuffle is not recognized by windows or itunes.
    Any ideas?

After looking at another post I decided to try a powered usb hub, the shuffle works fine, no problems at all with any other devices using the usb ports. The shuffle works like it should, I just don't understand why that makes a difference, do I have a defective shuffle, is it using too much power from the usb port, should I exchange it?

  • Dynex wireless not connecting to Linksys wireless

Help, I have a dynex wireless USB connector in my computer and my linksys wireless modem is running.  I see the wireless is available and has a very strong signal, but when I try to connect, it just keep trying and eventually fails.  Every once in a while if I unplus the usb connector and plug it back in it works, but then it drops off and I can't get back on.  This is making me crazy.  Any ideas?

if u can hardwire the computer to the router...then go to www.linksys.com/easy and run the Netcheck tool..this would automatically install the latest drivers for the adapter..
if not , then go to start >> programs >> linksys wireless adapter >> uninstall ... this should uninstall the adapter completely...insert the CD for the adapter..do not run it..restart the computer....and then follow the instructions on the "Found New Hardware Wizard "...

  • Linksys Wireless Network monitor overrides Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration

    Hello all,
I am currently using the wireless router Verizon sent me and it works fine when using the Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration tool. Previously I was using a Linksys wireless router and I have the Linksys Wireless Network monitor installed. About half the time when starting up the computer, the Linksys monitor starts up and I have to manually switch to the Windows XP Wireless Zero Configuration tool. This is very irritating and I would like to know if there is a way I can remove the Linksys Monitor and still be able to use the Linksys wireless adapter cards installed in the computer.

    I think I know.
    #1 http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/msconfig_xp.html
#2 Very carefully, look through the list in MSConfig.
#3 Disable the Linksys Wireless Network monitor.
Restart the computer as need be.

  • Choosing a wireless adapter

I'm connected to the internet via a Linksys WAG160N router. My PC doesn't have a wireless adapter (only my laptop has one). I'm moving around with the furniture in my office and a wireless connection would make things easier. Should I go for a Linksys wireless adapter, or are there better alternatives? I only have USB 1.0 slots, so I should get a PCI adapter.

    Hi fastmike,
yes, all devices of this type (aka. ethernet-to-wireless adapter or bridge) will work with your mini and your router. They just plug into the ethernet port of your mini. In a way they are not very different from your router as they take the wired signal and transform it to a radio signal. They are usally quite easy to set up and do not need a special software to do it. You just use Safari or any other browser to connect to it the first time and configure it for your network. The manual that comes with these adapters should be sufficient to manage this. As for the looks, well -- they are really ugly. But you can just put it under the desk and out of sight as they connect to your mini via an ethernet cable.

  • Connecting to Airport Express via Linksys Wireless-G adapter

I am trying to use a linksys compact adapter (WUSB600N) to connect a Windows XP PC to my Airport Express- The linksys monitor CAN detect the Airport Express, but "cannot associate with the access point" for a few seconds, then "can associate... but cannot find the Internet"
I haven't had any problems connecting my MBP and a Vista notebook to my AX, just this PC using this adapter.
    Can anyone help me?

To Connect your Computer to the Wireless Network you need to change some settings on your Router...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbors network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select TKIP...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone and remember the key.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

  • Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter w/Speedb or Linksys Wireless-G USB Network A

I am currently using a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband router on my G4. The PC in the house is using a Wireless-G PCI Adapter w/Speedbooster. Both machines connect to the internet without issue.
I am adding a new G5 to the mix. I plan on using the router on the G5. I plan on purchasing a wireless adapter/card for the G4. Will the Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter work on a Mac G4? How about the Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter? How about other manufacturers products?
Any assistance will be appreciated. I will need to move work files from the G4 to the G5 ASAP.
    Thanks.
    G5 2.3GHz & G4 355 MHz Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi there
Before thinking about wireless cards for the Mac (a minefield!) you can hook your G4 up to the G5 using Target Disk Mode. See this:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583
You can then transfer what you need from the G4 to the G5 even before the G4 is back on your network.
As for wireless cards, here is a list of supposedly compatible cards:
    http://home.earthlink.net/~metaphyzx/Wireless.htm
However, approach with caution as manufacturers change the chips on these cards without warning. If you can't get hold of an original airport card, then the safest bet would be to go for a Sonnet Aria Extreme, made by a company that specialises in Mac products (I have no affiliation by the way). It's not the cheapest wireless PCI card out there but it is one of the few guaranteed to work with a Mac. Hope this helps.

  • LinkSys Wireless-N USB Adapter

I just purchased a LinkSys Wireless-N USB Adapter (WUSB300N), and I was wondering how to get it to work with Mac OS X 10.4.10? I have searched the LinkSys site and Google for drivers for this product, but none have been made. I was also wondering, if my product does not work with Mac, if there is any other wireless USB adapter that is compatible with Mac OS X?

If it needs to be USDB, this is the only one I found...

  • Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter with SpeedBooster

Anyone get the Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter with SpeedBooster WPC54GS to work with their Mac?
      Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iLife 6

Yes. I have Linksys WPC54GS version 1.1 (with the Broadcom chipset) running OS 10.3.9. I believe version 2.0 also uses the Broadcom chipset, but I do not know if that is the same for version 2.1.
BTW: I originally used a Linksys wireless router but a year ago changed to the Belkin Pre-N Router F5D8230-4.

  • Linksys Wireless N Router w/ Belkin Wireless G Adapter Connection?

I recently bought a Linksys wireless n router to better serve my two new laptops with wireless n cards. They are now lightning fast and super reliable. However, my desktop, which has a Belkin wireless g card connects about a third as fast and last only about 5-10 minutes before needing to be reconnected, which can cometimes take a while itself. I changed the channel to 11 which helped a little and am running the router on 20 MHz only.
My previous router was a Belkin wireless G.
I'm looking for answers/explanations and possible solutions to speeding up my desktop's speed and increasing its reliability w/o jeopardizing my laptops' supreme performance.
    Thanks for your help,

Set the Channel Width to 40MHz only,Wide Channel to 9 and Standard Channel to 11-2.462GHz and click on save settings...Under the Advanced Wireless Settings...Change the Beacon Interval to 75,Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304,Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 and Click on Save Settings...Under the Security tab,uncheck.. dw(vs_internetfilter0);Filter Anonymous Internet Requests and click on save settings..Now,power cycle the router and check...

  • Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Device List Not Finding Windows 8 Wireless Adapter

I recently upgraded my Wi-Fi router to an EA3500 and am controlling it using Smart Wi-Fi running on a wired Windows 7 machine.
So far, I have been able to add devices to the network without issue and each of those connections works fine.  All, except my TV, have been Windows 7 based machines.  Smart Wi-Fi Device List has been able to "see" each device and I have been able to add them to that list as well.
I am attempting to add a Windows 8 desktop computer to the network which is using a external USB wireless adapter.  That computer can see and connect to the network through the EA3500 and the connection seems to work fine.  The only issue is that its adapter does not show up in the Device List.
    My questions:
    1)  Does the Device List do anything else besides showing a list of devices I chosen to add to my network?
    2) How do I get my Windows 8 wireless adapter to show up in the Device List?
    Thanks In Adance!

I would like to chime in here too. I also have the same issue as described on an older Mac desktop. The ethernet port has failed so it connects only via the AirPort wireless. My issue is IMPORTANT because until this devices shows up on the Device List I cannot apply the Parental Controls. Joining Orloldman for an answer... (Thanks!)
    Try the following:
    1.       Disconnect the computer from the wireless network
    2.       Remove wireless network profile on your computer
    3.       Reboot the computer and power cycle the router
    4.       Reconnect to the wireless network
    5.       Check if the computer shows up on the device list.
If it is still not showing, reset and reconfigure the wireless router.

  • WUSB54G - Wireless Adapter Causing BSOD

Here is one for the support team. I wanted to connect another PC iwas working on to the internet via my WUSB54G wireless adapter. This was a fresh install, but an old computer. At the point in the installation where the adapter is connected to the USB port, Windows keeps shutting down and giving me a blue screen. Any advice?

Did you try to install the adapter drivers and not the software ? If not you should try that...
Make sure you connect the adapter to a different USB Port(don't use the port to which it's already connected)...
Download the adapter drivers from here: http://home.cisco.com/en-us/wireless?referrer=www.linksysbycisco.com
Once you have downloaded the drivers you need to unzip the file...After you unzip the file you should un-install the adapter drivers/software from Programs menu...Connect the adapter to a different USB Port and reboot your computer...Once the computer is rebooted you should see a message "Found new Hardware"...Select the option Install it from a specific location and click Next, then select Include this location in Search and browse to the place where you have unzipped all the files and select the Driver folder and click O.k...Then click Next and it should install the adapter drivers...
NOTE : This installation doesn't install the software(Linksys Monitor)...
Once the Adapter is installed, Click on the Start button >>> Control Panel >>> Network Connections- Right click on the "Wireless Network Connection" icon and select "View Available Wireless Networks"- If you see your wireless network in the list, highlight it by 'single' clicking on it- Now click on the 'Connect' button below- If your wireless network is secured, it would ask you to provide the network key- Provide the wireless network key and confirm it again in the confirmation box and click "Connect". See if this corrects your problem...

  • Having Trouble Connecting To Xbox Live using my router and wireless adapter.

Okay, so this is kinda long but I'll try and speed through. Recently I moved from my old place to a newer place (larger) and before, my old spot worked perfectly, no troubles. Now, eversince i got my internet cable service re-hooked up I've had problems. My internet is fine, that's not the problem. It's my xbox live for my 360. My cable guy pretty much set up my living room with the main router and not my studio office which I keep my 360 in. Instead he told me it would be much easier to just go out and buy a wireless adapter for my PC to recieve the signal from my living room off the main family computer. Well, went out and bought a $80.00 wireless adapter top of the line and it works perfectly, I get the internet really fast. Problem is, my 360 will not connect now. It always says DNS failed. Well here's the problem. I have a Linksys router in my studio office that sits on top of my PC that i have connected to the ethernet of my PC, then in the 2nd or 1st port i have my 360ethernet wire connected to my xbox360. Still it says DNS failed. Shouldn't my router be getting the signal from my Wireless adapter that it's receiving from the living room? It's connected through the same computer yet it doesnt connect. It finds my I address, and it finds the network adapter yet it always fails my DNS. I've tried evern switching the xbox360 ethernet to the main ethernet port on my pc and that just makes me fail the IP address test. I need help guys. My wireless adapter for the pc is a Belkin but my router is a linksys and not sure if the 360 just doesnt recognize it or not. Is there settings I'm missing or something? Please help!!!
    The Burninator...

On your 360 if u getting an error msg DNS failed, you can login to your router setup page and go to status tab, not the Static DNS1 and DNS2 numbers and u can give a static dns to your 360. its will resolve ur issue.
