Linq to SharePoint WorkflowTaskList to ParentWorklow List

I am using Linq to SharePoint and it works fine.
I can join two SharePoint List and query. Here I need to link the Workflow task list with the Parent SPList having the workflow.
I have to query Workflow Task list based on the some criteria in Parent SP List having the workflow attached.
Any help is highly appreciable.

    Yes. I can create a list with the template using the UI.  I can also create list programmatically using the Microsoft.SharePoint library within a Windows Forms Application.  If I do create a provider-hosted app referencing Microsoft.SharePoint,
    it results in a 64bit / 32bit mismatch error.  I am running SharePoint 2013 on a 64 bit Windows 2012 Server.
    The problem is that with a provider-hosted SharePoint App, I am limited to only using the Microsoft.SharePoint.Client library which is very limited.

  • How to auto populate data from one list in SharePoint 2007 into another list based on a key value?

    Hi,
    As a part of new requirement in my project I am supposd to work on SharePoint 2007. I have one List (BCExtract - Main list) with all data related to an Application (like ID, name, app manager RTO etc).
    I have created another list which has form to be filled by a user (with details about his/her applications). My requirement is that when the user enters AIT ID then the page should refresh (probably after hitting enter) and other details like Application
    name, RTO etc which is present in another list gets auto populated depending on the AIT ID (unique column) entered so reduce the burden on the user.
    Please suggest me how this can be done. I do not have permission for obtaining SharePoint Designer and I do not know JQuery. Infopath is ok but if this can be done through SharePoint 2007 alone then it would be great.
    Thanks....

    Hello,
    You can either use jquery/jaavscript or infopath form to achieve this. There is no default way to do this.
    I would suggest jquery because you can put script in newform/editfor.aspx page using content editor webpart. Refer this link for jquery:
    To get value from list:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ac47fe2a-ccb6-4f5b-b274-703aecc6cb0a/get-list-items-in-sharepoint-2010-by-using-jquery
    http://www.robertkuzma.com/2010/08/read-list-items-using-sharepoint-web-services-and-jquery/
    To set value in column:
    http://paulgalvinsoldblog.wordpress.com/2009/06/13/quick-and-easy-use-jquery-to-set-a-text-field%E2%80%99s-value-on-a-sharepoint-form/
    http://spservices.codeplex.com/discussions/468729
    If you use infopath form, then you need to create two data connection to get data from both lists. Later you can set value in fields based on selection using rule. This can be possible without code.
    Hope it could help

  • Disappearing Sharepoint Foundation 2013 anonymous list submissions

    I have a custom Sharepoint Foundation 2013 list configured to allow anonymous submissions from a public facing website, but which requires admin permissions to view the full list content. Think like a contact form or an online application - anonymous users
    can submit a new item via the form, but get "permission denied" when attempting to access the list itself. I've customized the New Item .aspx in Sharepoint Designer, and I've also added a redirect page after submission for a "confirmation"
    page.
    This seems to work perfectly in all of my tests - but I have several dozen users who have reported correctly filling out the form, pressing "Submit," and being taken to the confirmation page, but the list item is nowhere to be found when I log in
    and look at the list. It appears that somehow Sharepoint is losing the new list item, while still redirecting users to the post-submission confirmation page.
    If it was a single user, I'd chalk it up to user error (not pressing Submit or something), but I have enough identical reports to verify that this is definitely happening and data is definitely being lost. I have similar reports from users of all 3 major browsers,
    both Mac and PC.
    Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this behavior on demand - the form works fine for me no matter what I throw at it. There's nothing in the recycle bin, no validation errors (I've turned off all validation for the form), and I have tried every browser/OS combination
    I can think of. In every single test I have done, the form submits flawlessly, and the new list item appears immediately - even for a blank form.
    Any ideas? Where do I even start trying to troubleshoot this if it happens seemingly at random?
    Thanks in advance for any thoughts...

    Hello,
    Without being able to reproduce the problem I can imagine this will be a difficult one to diagnose. I would start by getting some dates and times from users from when they did submit items that they are claiming did not appear in the list. I would then look
    in the ULS logs around these times and see if you can see the item being submitted / created.
    Regards.

  • SharePoint Designer workflow - update list item field without creating new version?

    Hello,
    I have a list that uses versioning.
    I have a workflow, designed in SharePoint Designer, that will track changes in some columns, and if there is a change it will send out an email.
    To track the changes eg in the Status column, I have a hidden "OldStatus" column so I can compare the current value with the previous value.
    If it's different it means it has been changed, and I send out an email, then update the OldStatus with the current value so they're in sync again.
    Problem I have now is that when I update the OldStatus column in my workflow it will create a new version of the listitem. I don't want that. This is a system value change and has no value at all to the end user.
    In C# I can do a systemupdate to avoid this, but how can I do this in SharePoint Designer?
    Please don't tell me I should write the entire workflow in code, only to get access to the systemupdate command....

    I created a Worfklow Activity class, called "UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode".
    I add the default context properties to work with:
    #region Context properties
    public static DependencyProperty __ContextProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("__Context", typeof(WorkflowContext), typeof(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode));
    [Category("My Workflow Actions")]
    [Browsable(true)]
    [DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Visible)]
    public WorkflowContext __Context
    get
    return ((WorkflowContext)(base.GetValue(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode.__ContextProperty)));
    set
    base.SetValue(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode.__ContextProperty, value);
    public static DependencyProperty __ListIdProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("__ListId", typeof(string), typeof(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode));
    [ValidationOption(ValidationOption.Required)]
    public string __ListId
    get
    return ((string)(base.GetValue(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode.__ListIdProperty)));
    set
    base.SetValue(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode.__ListIdProperty, value);
    public static DependencyProperty __ListItemProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("__ListItem", typeof(int), typeof(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode));
    [ValidationOption(ValidationOption.Required)]
    public int __ListItem
    get
    return ((int)(base.GetValue(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode.__ListItemProperty)));
    set
    base.SetValue(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode.__ListItemProperty, value);
    public static DependencyProperty __ActivationPropertiesProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("__ActivationProperties", typeof(SPWorkflowActivationProperties), typeof(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode));
    [ValidationOption(ValidationOption.Required)]
    public SPWorkflowActivationProperties __ActivationProperties
    get
    return (SPWorkflowActivationProperties)base.GetValue(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode.__ActivationPropertiesProperty);
    set
    base.SetValue(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode.__ActivationPropertiesProperty, value);
    #endregion
    Then I add my own input parameters to work with:
    public static DependencyProperty StaticFieldNameProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("StaticFieldName", typeof(string), typeof(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode));
    [Category("My Workflow Actions"), Browsable(true)]
    [DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Visible)]
    public string StaticFieldName
    get
    return Convert.ToString(base.GetValue(StaticFieldNameProperty));
    set
    base.SetValue(StaticFieldNameProperty, value);
    public static DependencyProperty FieldValueProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("FieldValue", typeof(string), typeof(UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode));
    [Category("My Workflow Actions"), Browsable(true)]
    [DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Visible)]
    public string FieldValue
    get
    return Convert.ToString(base.GetValue(FieldValueProperty));
    set
    base.SetValue(FieldValueProperty, value);
    Then the actual workflow action code:
    protected override ActivityExecutionStatus Execute(ActivityExecutionContext executionContext)
    try
    if (this.__Context == null)
    throw new Exception("__Context is NULL");
    if (this.__Context.Site == null)
    throw new Exception("__Context.Site is NULL");
    //reload the web using the SPSite object to work around any limitations on the objects
    //applied to the user running the workflow
    SPWeb tmpweb = __Context.Web;
    SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(delegate()
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite(tmpweb.Url))
    using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb())
    //load list
    SPList lst = web.Lists[new Guid(__ListId)];
    //load listitem
    SPListItem item = lst.GetItemById(__ListItem);
    //update field value
    item[this.StaticFieldName] = this.FieldValue;
    //commit changes
    item.SystemUpdate();
    //return success workflow status
    return ActivityExecutionStatus.Closed;
    catch (Exception exc)
    string sMsg = "Error in 'UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode':" + Environment.NewLine
    + exc.Message + Environment.NewLine + Environment.NewLine +
    "StaticFieldName: " + this.StaticFieldName + Environment.NewLine +
    "FieldValue: " + this.FieldValue;
    Common.WriteErrorToLog(sMsg);
    //return failed workflow status
    return ActivityExecutionStatus.Faulting;
    Note: the WriteErrorToLog function is a custom function that writes the error to the event log. It's located in another class. You can replace it with your own error handling approach.
    Then we need to specify the workflow action in the .actions file, so SharePoint Designer knows about it and which parameters are required:
    <Action Name="Set field in current item (silent mode)"
    ClassName="My.WorkflowActions.UpdateFieldInCurrentItemSilentMode"
    Assembly="My.WorkflowActions, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=0f8d2d9e2dfb2160"
    AppliesTo="all"
    Category="My Workflow Actions">
    <RuleDesigner Sentence="Set field %1 in current item to value %2 (silent mode)">
    <FieldBind Field="StaticFieldName" DesignerType="ParameterNames" Id="1" Text="StaticFieldName" />
    <FieldBind Field="FieldValue" DesignerType="ParameterNames" Id="2" Text="FieldValue" />
    </RuleDesigner>
    <Parameters>
    <Parameter Name="StaticFieldName" Type="System.String, mscorlib" DesignerType="ParameterNames" Direction="In" />
    <Parameter Name="FieldValue" Type="System.String, mscorlib" DesignerType="ParameterNames" Direction="In" />
    <Parameter Name="__Context" Type="Microsoft.SharePoint.WorkflowActions.WorkflowContext" Direction="In" />
    <Parameter Name="__ListId" Type="System.String, mscorlib" Direction="In" />
    <Parameter Name="__ListItem" Type="System.Int32, mscorlib" Direction="In" />
    <Parameter Name="__ActivationProperties" Type="Microsoft.SharePoint.Workflow.SPWorkflowActivationProperties, Microsoft.SharePoint" Direction="Out" />
    </Parameters>
    </Action>
    That is all you need for the specific code, the rest is common code to build custom workflow actions, which you can find on many blogposts or this forum.

  • Problems publishing a web-access on Sharepoint: Error when modifying list schemes

    Good afternoon.
    I have an application built with an access database with several forms and web macros which is published on Sharepoint 2010. Through this application - not too big not too complex (ca. 10 tables / less than 2000 records at most) - I receive updates
    that are loaded into external applications, mainly excel worksheets, ms project files and so on.
    I have been going through the cycle of developing and publishing new versions of the application on the same site for more than a year; suddenly, from severeal weeks ago on, I started receiving the following error affecting random tables (not always the
    same) which crashes the compilation and publishing:
    "Error when modifying lists schemes. Changing name to "ID" field on list XXXX failed"
    And each time the list is different. And of course I am no trying at all to change the name of any ID field !????
    Any clue of what might be happening?
    Thank you

  • SharePoint 2013 Community members list is not working properly.

    Hello All,
    We have a community site at our office. It is having a discussion list which has almost 2000 discussion. The problem is the members who have raised questions or discussions should get added in community members list. But its not happening. There was only
    11 members were added. The remaining members are not there. So It is showing the wrong top contributors. I really weird due to this issue.
    Please help me.

    Hi Gore,
    Please try to use the following code to get the members count, then check whether it corrects or not.
    SPWeb web = SPContext.Current.Web;
    SPList Members = web.Lists.TryGetList("Community Members"));
    try
    SPQuery query = new SPQuery();
    query.Query = "<Where><Eq><FieldRef Name="MemberStatusInt"/><Value Type="Integer">1</Value></Eq></Where>";
    SPListItemCollection colection = Members.GetItems(query);
    int membersJoined = colection.Count
    catch (Exception)
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/76973/number-of-memebers-inside-my-community-site-is-wrong
    Or try to reactivate the "community feature" feature and activate "Site Feed" feature at site level.
    If this issue still exists, you can also try to update the latest CU for SharePoint 2013.

  • Sharepoint Forms and Custom Lists and Workflows using Sharepoint Designer

     I created a Custom SharePoint List with a custom work flow. Basically the list does the following:
    Group A initiates the list, fills in all the information
    Group A will check a box based on a Y/N question, the driver of the work flow is if the Y/N question is answered with an Y, then Group B will get a task assigned and an email notification will go to Group B to continue the work flow.
    Group B will fill out information and check Y/N question, if answer is returned Y it will go to Group C via the same method as above.
    What I need is as the form goes from one group to the next how can I make sure that Group C doesn't see the responses from Group B? How do I write this into the workflow?

    I think now I can add screen shots to explain what I need to do better.
    I created a custom sharepoint list. Users click on Add new Item and Group A will answer generic questions until they get to Continue to Dispute to IQ (Yes/no) Checkbox.  If they answer Yes, the workflow will start and create a task for Group B
    (IQ Group). Group B will answer 4 questions (IQ Responses, IQ Notes, IQ Name and Date). Group B will check Yes or No to Continue Dispute to QA (Group C).
    See Screen shot.
    What we would like for the workflow to do is based on the Yes or No check boxes (Continue to IQ or QA). If Yes is checked then the workflow will generate a task in the task list. We don't want Group B and C to see each other's responses. I set up a workflow
    using impersonate steps, but am not sure if this is correct. Can you look at the workflow steps below and let me know if this is right?

  • Loading Sharepoint Web Services XML List into WPF DataGrid

     trying to populate my DataGrid with the returned list from a Sharepoint Web Services, all of the tutorials/guides I've found go about doing this with a XAML file.
    This is the code I'm using to pull the XML,
    private String GetListNode()
    webService.Lists siteClient = new webService.Lists();
    System.Net.NetworkCredential passCredentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential("username", "password", "domain");
    siteClient.Credentials = passCredentials;
    XmlNode getNode = siteClient.GetListItems("Tasks", string.Empty, null, null, string.Empty, null, null);
    return getNode.OuterXml;
    This returns the pages XML, within this page I'd like to grab these Items,
    ows_ID, ows_Client, ows_AssignedTo, ows_LinkTitle, ows_Status, ows_Priority, ows_DueDate
    I'd like to make these items Columns for the DataGrid, then having the data populate. All help will be appreciated, thank you in advanced.
    This is not the full XML, this is a small piece,

    The XML is in a friendly format to read into a DataSet, which can then be bound to your data grid control.
    You will need to clean up some of the data. Data from dropdowns, people pickers, etc. will have an "id" prefix. (31;#Heidy Valdes) You could cleanup the XML first, clean the data in the column of the data table or write an event handler on
    the load event of the grid.
    Load the XML to the grid something like:
    XmlTextReader reader = new XmlTextReader(yourXMLnode.OuterXml, XmlNodeType.Element, null);
    DataSet ds = new DataSet();
    ds.ReadXml(reader);
    yourGrid.DataSource = ds.Tables[1];
    Note: ds.Tables[0] contains the record count.

  • SharePoint 2013 Online : Custom List view xslt webpart UI vs List View WebPart UI with search ? How to create a xslt list view webpart same UI as list View webpart ???

    I have created a xslt list view webpart but I does not have UI as SharePoint 2013 list view UI.
    how I can have it.
    Ahsan Ranjha

    Hi Ahsan,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the UI is different between XSLT web part and List View web part.
    Per my knowledge, the List View web part is a kind of the XSLT list view web part which uses XSLT to display data on the page.
    http://sharepoint-videos.com/list-view-and-data-view-web-parts/
    How did you add the XSLT web part and the List View web part?
    Could you please provide a screenshot of the two web parts?
    Best regards.
    Thanks
