Lisence issue of RM jar files

Hi,
We are developing our own repository manager, which needs some APIs provided by sap like bc.rf.framework_api.jar. I got these jar files after installing NW04.
Now our question is, is there any lisence issue about using or distributing these jar files? SAP gals - please confirm.
Thanks,
Ray

Hi Detlev,
Thanks for reply.
Yes I know I needn't deploy these jar files - I just need them at compile time.
But for compile, I need put them in our version-control system (we use perforce). So we are wondering about this.
Maybe we are too careful - make it simpler: is there any restriction on using these SAP-provided jar files internally at compile time?
Thanks,
Ray

  • Authentication issue when downloading jar files

    Hi,
I am having a problem starting up my application when the application server, in this case WebSphere 5.0, requires the user to be authorized.
In our development environment the server uses basic authentication but once deployed in our test environment we are required to use form based authentication, which I've read that JWS cannot handle.
The current flow is as follows:-
    1. The user navigates to a protected page and is prompted to enter a user name and password.
    2. Once authenticated they are shown the page that contains a link to a JNLP file.
    3. The user clicks on the link, JWS processes the JNLP file and requests the first jar file.
    4. The application server sees that there is no 'authorization' header set on the request so asks for the credentials again.
    5. For basic authentication the user is prompted by JWS to enter the user name and password and the download succeeds.
    6. For form based authentication, JWS instead receives an HTML login page and, after a short period, reports that it received a corrupted jar file.
I was wondering if there is any way to pass key/value pairs within the JNLP file (or any other approach to pass this data) that JWS could then use to populate the 'authorization' header of the request to load the jar files?
If this is not possible, are there any other techniques I could use to get round this?
I am currently passing other data via the 'JSP as JNLP' approach with my own servlet so can make dynamic changes to the JNLP file as needed.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi ipooley,
I came upon your posting here after I've been searching for long for some "standard-conform" decision to this IMHO very popular problem and I was not able to find something so far apart of adding some jsessionid to the jar files in the href tag in order to hack the app server to believe the client is authenticated. In my case this doesn't help as well because the authentication is done separately through the company portal. Could you please give me some more details about your "hack"? I've tried to call the jnlp file from an applet (simply with showDocument(jsp generating jnlp) but this doesn't (and actually it can't) work too. And what about the jnlp file itself - if I set the href in the jnlp I have the same problems with the jnlp too?
thanks in advance for your reply,
    Ilko

  • BiPub 10.1.3.4 upgrade:What jar files do I need to include in a chart proj?

    JDev 10.1.3.4
    BIPub 10.1.3.4 Build 129 desktop
I have a series of reports with graphs which work by calling the xdo engine from a JDev designed web app. Worked fine with the previous version 562.
I just upgraded the desktop tool and rebuilt an old graph. The tables work, but the graphs/charts do not. I assume it is a jar / lib compatibility issue.
What jar files do I need to include in the project? What precedence do they need?
Also, what is the difference between setting a library reference and putting the jar files in the Web INF directory?
    Thanks.
    Steve

Just wanted to add to this ... I loaded BIPub Server 10.1.3.4 where I extracted the xdocore.jar from to put in my project. The report previews fine in there, both graphs and tables. Also works in Word.
When I use the following code (which worked fine in previous version) the pdf opens with the table and an empty chart.
    Any ideas??

  • How to add jar files to applet's classpath

    hi everyone,
i got an issue to add jar file's to applt's classpath,
i looked around accross many resources but getting no solution on this.
i have a commons-httpclient3.1.jar and i have to make it available it to a an applet class bundled in a jar file say myjar.jar
    how can i achieve it?
any help would be much appreciated
    thanks

That's a long time I haven't written applets, but if I remind well, we are able to set multilple jar in the classapth parameter, separated by semicolon.
    Look the page http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/applet/html.html

  • Executable jar files and manifest file

    Hi,
I have the following files in a folder named: Test
    a.jar
    b.jar
    c.jar
    Driver.class
    Driver.mf
Here, MainClass is the main executable class that uses a,band c.jar files. This is how my MainClass.mf file looks:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: Driver
    Class-Path: a.jar b.jar c.jar
Now I use the following command to make one executable jar file:
    jar cmf Driver.mf DriverMain.jar *
It creates an executable jar file named : DriverMain.jar
Now I copy the executable jar file (DriverMain.jar) into a different folder named: RunTest
and double click it, doesn't work.
    my question is:
what am I doing wrong? Any special characters needed in my Driver.mf file (space/newline/etc)?
What I am trying to get is: One execuatble jar file so I can just double click to run it, and that single executable jar file will have all the necessary jars in it (i.e. a.jar, b.jar, c.jar in this case)
    Anyone please help!
    Thanks
    -Ron

    Rony,
Sorry to disappoint, but you can not use embeded jar/zip files within an executable jar. The JDK sadly for some reason decided this was not a useful idea, so developers like me who want to distribute plugins with thier own dependencies have one of two choices. You either have to unzip the jar file that contains the embeded jars to a directory, then run your primary exectuable jar, OR you have to write a custom classloader that your "launcher" creates then loads the embeded jar files.
The best thing to do is either jar up a, b, c and driver into one jar, so that it works, if you can legally do this. A lot of 3rd party libraries may not allow this per their license. Otherwise, another choice is to use a free installer or buy an installer that allows you to distribute a single exectuable installer program that will properly create the dir structure you need.
As for the way it works, if you declare:
    Class-Path: a.jar b.jar c.jar
the JAR loader code in the JDK looks in the root dir where your application was started for a/b/c jar files. They have to be on disk.
If you want to place them in /lib, for example, you would havd a jar file like:
    Driver.class
    Driver.mf
    lib/a.jar
    lib/b.jar
    lib/c.jar
When unzipped, your "root" dir would look exactly like the above, and your manifest would have Class-Path using ./lib/a.jar ./lib/b.jar ./lib/c.jar
Anyway, there thus far isn't any way around this issue of embeding jar files in an executable jar file. You MIGHT be able to not specify any classpath, then in your Driver.class, create a new custom classloader that dervies from URLClassLoader, but in the findClass(), you get a ref to the .jar file that the classloader class is inside of, and from that use it to find the lib/*.jar files and add them to the classpath. For this to work, however, your Driver.class code should ALSO be contained in an embeded jar file that is loaded by this custom loader. The only thing Driver.class would contain (and I would rename it to something like Launcher) is the code to create the custom classloader.
It's fun stuff, but a little bit of work to make it work. You can infact make it work! I may yet one day take our plugin engine custom loader and create a way for this to work!

  • EJB 3.0: deployment/jar file generation issue

We have a web application project (ADF Faces) which depends on a model project (EJB 3.0 session/entity beans) that implements both business and persistence layers. This EJB project points to a utility jar file containing some classes we have built. When we run the web project from inside JDev, everything works perfectly, with no error. However, when generating EAR file (deploying web project to WAR) we experience an issue.
As expected, JDev generated the war file for the web app, the jar file for the EJB and finally the EAR file containing both war and jar files. After that, we managed to deploy the ear file to our OAS 10.1.3 test instance (not standalone OC4J) and an error occured. The error is due to the fact JDev did not create the /lib subdirectory inside ejb project jar file /META-INF directory with our utility jar file inside.
We tried to generate a separated jar file for the ejb project alone with the same results.
Is this an IDE bug which does not pack the application as it should? What could we be doing wrong? If yes, is there a work-around? Like I said, the application runs fine on embedded server. Also, when the EJB application does not depend on external libraries, the deployment to OAS 10.1.3 works perfectly. We have tested it!
    Could anyone help us?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Gustavo
PS: Sorry for my English. :)

Hi Shay! I follow what you said and it worked. However, we had to manually edit MANIFEST file for the EJB jar in order to add classpath clause to map our util jar. IMHO, JDev should do it for us. Anyway, we were able to deploy the app successfully.
    Best Regards,
    Gustavo

  • Classpath Issue - but JAR file is in the classpath

I'm having an issue getting a JAVA Application Client to run and would welcome any suggestions or input to resolve this problem. I'm not a developer, just the builder/deployer of the applications. There are two developers looking at this problem too, but they are stumped too.

All that script made my eyes glaze over, but it appears you are running your main class from an executable jar file. Is that correct? Executable jar files don't use the classpath. If you want them to refer to anything outside the executable jar, you have to put Class-Path entries in its manifest.

  • Oracle 11g application won't start sometimes(jar files issue)

    Hello,
The issue we experience is that now and then, our forms 11g application
    won't start.
So it can be the case that, for example, the application can be started
succesfully 5 times in a row, but the 6th and 7th time, it won't start
anymore. But when we relaunch it for the 8th time, it launches perfectly.
When the application isn't starting, a new window is opened having a yellow triangle
with an exclamation mark on the top right corner.
After a long period, we suddely discovered that it had something to do with ".jar" files.
Because when we clear the "java jar cache" on the client machine
(start -> control panel -> java -> "general" tab -> "view..." button -> select all the files and click on the
cross(remove selected sources) ), the application succesfully starts for about 10 times in a row.
But the first time we start the application(after clearing the cache), it takes much longer, because the application
is downloading the .jar files again. (java logo appears with a progress bar)
But clearing the cache every time before starting the application can't be a decent solution we think.
When we enable all java debugging info in the console, we received the error below 2 times when launching a application session that refused to start:

    Anyone having a clue ?
    thanks in advance !

Sorry, I meant WEB-INF\lib in the WAR file inside my EAR.
I put all the jar files in the WEB-INF\lib of the WAR file but it still does not work. I have to specify them in the classpaths and put the jar files in the domains\domain\lib directory
I thought if you put it in the WEB-INF\lib then you don't have to put them in the classpath.

After the security update here, http://sunsolve.sun.com/search/document.do?assetkey=1-26-103079-1 any users referencing our applets do not use the jar files stored in cache if the DNS has changed. We use an akamai hosted solution for jar distribution (though this would also occur in any DNS load balancing situation) thus the IP is rather dynamic though the content is identical. As the security issues states, any Plugin versions 1.5.0_13 and above or 1.6.0_03 and above treat a new DNS as compeltely new jar files.
Has anyone worked through similar situations? This renders the caching almost useless and we have a rather thick applet (3 Mb total jar files) which is quite an impact for a customer that is often low bandwidth to download daily.
    Thanks!

Recently I tried to used some robot tools to test our application for performance issue. During the robot testing, I acceidentally discover some difference for the jar downloading which cause the above mentioned problem.
At first, this http request has no problem and the jar file is NOT downloaded. Http server shows a response code of "304", meaning download not required.
    http_request
    "GET lib/posLookup.jar HTTP/1.1\r\n"
    "Accept: */*\r\n"
    "Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate\r\n"
    "If-Modified-Since: Thu, 05 Dec 2002 17:22:12 GMT\r\n"
    "User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 4.0; T31246"
    "1)\r\n"
    "Host: defaulthost\r\n"
    "Connection: Keep-Alive\r\n"
    "Cookie: sesessionid=0001UULRZPFLU5IBRNBVHWUUAFI\r\n"
    "\r\n";
Then after running for a while, the browser jumps into another page and finds that the same jar file "posLookup.jar" is required. It issue another http request to server as:
    http_request
    "GET lib/posLookup.jar HTTP/1.1\r\n"
    "cookie: sesessionid=0001UULRZPFLU5IBRNBVHWUUAFI\r\n"
    "User-Agent: Java1.3.1_02\r\n"
    "Host: defaulthost\r\n"
    "Accept: text/html, image/gif, image/jpeg, *; q=.2, */*; q=.2\r\n"
    "Connection: keep-alive\r\n"
    "\r\n";
But this time the user agent becomes Java1.3.1_02 and the accept type becomes text/html instead of original zip format. After this, I check the IE temporary file and found that the posLookup.jar is having a type of "HTML Document" instead of "Executable jar file".
Does anyone know whether this is a bug of the Internet Explorer or it is bug of the Java Plugin?
    Appreciate any opinions or comments.
    Thanks

  • Running jar files issue

On a Windows xp machine, I can run the jar file from command line. But unable to run by double clicking it
I did check ftype jarfile on command line and I did get the correct values. I did compare this value against the value on a machine where jar file works fine.
I did assoc .jar=jarfile on command line. Still it does not work. java6 is my environment.

The screen comes and goes so quick. The error is it can't find the main class. But the same jar file runs from command line
    without any issue.

  • Instant Client 10 Jar File Issue

I'm following the instructions to install Instant Client 10, but the Jar files won't run on Windows.
classes12 and ojdbc14 both give me "Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute....", and when I check the manifest file, this info is in fact missing, along with the classpath.
The instructions don't indicate anything about this. I'm wondering if I'm missing something here. I have the newest Java installed.

What exactly are you trying to do? Install Client or execute classes?
Once you instal your client it is so, if there were no problems on the installation there are no issues to solve.
Which client did you install? On the Oracle Universal Installer there are several kinds of clients, regular and instant client.
What do you need this client for?
Once you have installed, I figure out you are trying to do some java programming, aren't you? How are you trying to use those classes?

  • HELP!!! Could someone help me with a jar file issue and JRE 1.3 & 1.4

We had a problem with the last Oracle patch in that it tried to extract from a jar file using the "jar" executable. But the jar executable is not installed on the server where we have JRE 1.4
On one server, Jar.exe is installed where we have JRE 1.3. Is the jar.exe apart of JRE 1.4? If so, where do I find the jar.exe file? If it's not part of JRE 1.4, what do I need to do to get the jar.exe onto the server where JRE 1.4 is installed?
    Thanks, Carl

    Thanks for your replies.
I know that a jar file is like a zip file but I'm asking, "Can you download just the jar.exe without downloading the JDK?"
I keep reading everywhere that you can only get the jar.exe tool if you download the JDK but I can't use JDK(because it is a compiler) on our website here at work.
    Thanks,
    Carl

The jar tool isn't part of the jre but the jdk. You should find it on your server in %ORACLE_HOME%\jdk\bin (seems you use some kind of Windows).

  • Jar file issue. EXCEPTION: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError

    Hey all,
i'm writing an application that connects to Oracles SCM. I use a lot of the oracle SCM library. Anyway, my application running in oracles jDeveloper works just fine. However when i deploy it to an executable jar file i get the above exception. In the deployment settings i have tried both using the dependency analyzer and including all content. I have selected all libraries that are used in running it within jdeveloper for the deployment. I have posted to the SCM forumn but noone there has any ideas so just wondering if its a problem with jdeveloper or if its just something stupid i've done.
find the below the full exception im getting when i run the executable jar file. i'd appreciate any ideas/suggestions anyone may have
    cheers

I have tried putting my executable jar in the same folder as
this dll and including the dll in my path but both to no avail.Again: you mix binary code and JVM byte code. They are loaded
differently and located differently. classpath means nothing for the binary code.
"The Win32 VM uses a search path that includes the current directory for the process or one of the directories listed in the PATH environment variable"
The DLL may be either in the folder where the application (the JRE/JDK) runs, that is where java.exe is, or some other directory on the system PATH (according to the PATH system variable).
