List manager (based on Popup LOV)

Hi !
I have a problem with my list manager. I'll explain the situation. I have users into my db and does users are associate to many groups. I have a user table, an association table and a group table.
I have that LOV query :
begin
:VALEUR_ACTIVE := 'A';
return 'Select NOM dispval, NOM retval From GROUPE WHERE STATUT = :VALEUR_ACTIVE';
end;
The query of my List manager is :
SELECT groupe.nom
FROM groupe,
ass_groupe_usager
WHERE asso_groupe_usager.code_groupe = groupe.code_groupe
with that request, I want to show in the list, every groups that are associate to the user. The problem is that even if the user is associate to 3-4 groups, only one group appears in the list.
Anyone can help me ?
AND asso_groupe_usager.PEIN = :TB_PEIN_2

I did a mistake in my last message. I put the rest of my message into my query ! The last line is the last line of my query.
Thank you.

  • List Manager based on LOV returning values with missing spaces

I am using a list manager based on a pop up lov, in this case it is a list of supplier names. When the pop-up list is shown the values are displayed as expected, with all spaces intact. When I click the supplier name, and then click Add to add to the list manager, all spaces in the supplier name are lost.
The field I'm pulling is a varchar2 in the db. Here's the sql behind the lov:
select '(All Suppliers)' d, '(All Suppliers)' r from rep_gy_spend
    union
    select distinct supplier_name d, supplier_name r
    from rep_gy_spend
    order by 1
Any ideas on why the spaces are lost?

DJ - There is a javascript function on the page that does that. View page source and you'll see it. You could override it with your own and change that behavior and you could prevent it from upper-casing the returned values as well by using different onclick javascript on the add button.

  • Set List Manager Values

I use a List Manager (based on Popup LOV) in a form. On submit, I insert the list manager values by creating a array using the wwv_flow_utilities.string_to_table function and inserting the values one by one in a loop.
I would need to be able to set the list manager values (not the Poplist values) with the query result values. Does someone can help me with that ?
    Thanks !

Actually I am trying to do the same exactly without success.

  • Javascript error on List Manager (Popup LOV)

    Hi all,
I have a problem with checkboxes and list managers (based on popup LOV).
I have a form containing several checkboxes and list managers; in a region of the form (the one before the last one) I have 10 checkboxes but just the first one work, the other ones give me this error when I tried to insert a record:
ORA-20001: Errore in DML: p_rowid=21, p_alt_rowid=ID, p_rowid2=, p_alt_rowid2=. ORA-20001: Valore numerico :1 non valido per la colonna EDUCATION (it's italian, the translation for the last part is "numerical value :1 not valid for the EDUCATION column).
Furthermoe, I have problems with list managers too: when I open the popup for some of them and choose the value from the popup window, I get a Javascript error: "Obejct doesn't support this property or method"; some (just some) of the list managers works.
The strange thing is that if I delete a list manager or a checkbox, another list manager or checkbox starts to work, as if it was a rule about the max total number of list manager/checkboxes.
I want to highlight that the total number of items in the form is less than 100.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.
    Cheers,
    Matteo

    Hi,
The issue is because Apex actually generates TWO items for each List Manager items and both of these count towards the maximum of 100 items per page. As an example - this is ONE list manager item from my test page:
    <fieldset id="P222_LM1" class="listmanager">

Given that the popup item does not really need to be submitted with the page, could this not use a different naming convention?

  • Popup list manager and dynamic LOV

I'm stumped, stuck and thought I was doing something simple. Here's what I have:
    1) Checkbox dynamically built (P3_CHECKBOX)
    2) A hidden field to store the checkbox values (P3_CHECKED)
    3) A popup list manager based on the hidden field.
I am using JavaScript to populate the P3_CHECKED whenever P3_CHECKBOX is changed. However, my dynamic LOV based on the hidden field always returns no rows. The SQL for the LOV is:
    select application_role, role
    from roles_view
    where '%'||application||'%' LIKE to_char(:P3_CHECKED) order by 1
Am I missing something simple? I know the hidden field is getting populated because if I change to field to text, I see the data change. There is also data in the table because executing the query using the data in P3_CHECKED returns the expected rows.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Mike

    Mike,
The lov query accesses the value of P3_CHECKED from session state. That isn't stored in session state until the page is submitted.

  • Select lists empty or POPup LOV needed with redirect

    Hi all,
I have a form where i need 6 select lists with redirect or 6 POPup LOV with redirects.
These select lists are separated in three groups
    like this
    group 1
    departments select list with redirect
employees popup lov (query based on the value of department)
    group2
    Order select list with redirect
OrderItem popup lov but needs a redirect here for employees (query based on the value of countries)
employees popup lov (query based on the value of department)
    group 3
some status select list with redirect
When I choose the first select list the popup LOV is populated with good values
when i select a value from the second select list the value in the first list disappears, including the value of the first popup lov. etc.
How is it possible to keep the values stored in the first selects list when selecting some value of the second list.
How is is possible to make a popup lov with redirect so that the values are in session
and can be used in another popup lov?
Is someone there who have experiences with this issue?
    thanks in advance,
    Hugo

    Hi Hugo,
I don't think that you need a redirect for that. Check out my AJAX cascading popup lov solution.

  • Pop-up list manager displaying "return value" instead of "display value"

    Hello,
I'm using a list manager based on pop-up LOV. When I click on an item on the pop-up window, the window is closed and the return value is displayed in the page list. I would like to have (as expected) the display value otherwise a user who accesses the detail of a record can just see codes (no meaning) and can't understand nothing. The return values should be used just for database storage as expected in a database application environment.
The behaviour should be like the one of "POPUP Key LOV (display descriptions, return key values)"...where in the textbox I can see the description but I send the key to the database.
I could use a multislect list too (which allows to display descriptions instead of codes) but in this case another problem arises: if I have lots of items the user has to scroll the list to see which items have been selected.
Any other solution to allow a user to see (and print) the content of "multiple" fields (descriptions, not codes)?
    I'm using Application Express 2.1.0.00.39
Thanks a lot for your help.

Anyone? Which is the best practice in these cases? Is it not possible to get the value selected displayed in a proper manner when using a "select multiple" fields?
    Thanks for your help.

  • List manager displaying view value and not return value

    Hello,
I'm using a list manager based on pop-up LOV. When I click on an item on the pop-up window, the window is closed and the return value is inserted in the page textbox. I would like to have (as expected) the view value, and have the return value used just as field value during form submit.
    I'm using Application Express 2.1.0.00.39
    Thanks.
    Eugenio

Unfortunately, you can't. The way to do it is to return the display value into the List Manger item and then use the APEX_UTIL.STRING_TO_TABLE function to loop through the values and fetch the IDs. You will need to make sure the LOV items are unique and don't contain any colons.
    I hope that helps

  • How to make Popup LOV Not Editable?

    Hello,
I started using a Select List (named LOV) as an element in a report. However, I go the error:
ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
So I switched to a Popup LOV (named LOV) which is working. However the Popup LOV is a list of part numbers that I donot want the user to change. I want him to select from the list I give him and only this list. After the Popup LOV closes the user can modify the text box that the part number the user selected from the Popup LOV appears in. So how do I make the text box next to the Popup LOV icon not editable??
    Thanks for the help...

Hello, not sure if you are using "Popup LOV(fetches first rowset)" or not, but switching to "Popup Key LOV(Displays description, returns key value)" might
    work for you.

  • LIST MANAGER - Replace popup lov - with stationary scrollable box

Sorry... I thought this was Oracle 10g XE form...could you direct me to right form.
LIST MANAGER - Replace popup lov - with stationary scrollable box...
The end result would be: 2 scrollable list boxes separated by the word ADD / REMOVE. One to select from and the other box to act as collection box
The popup LOV is quick and fast ..but is a little time consuming

    Hi user518110,
    1) please update your forum handler to a more friendlier name.
    2) I think your are looking for the Shuttle component in Oracle APEX, like on the following page http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=2672:2
If you are using Oracle XE you are probably using Oracle APEX 2.1, you have to upgrade this version to Oracle APEX 3.0 which contains this new control. See http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.0.1_and_xe.html for details.

  • Populating a report column(Popup lov) based on the other column.

I have a report where a column that is a Popup Lov(Query based LOV) needs to be populate based on another column in the same report.
For example, if the column1 has query based lov select statment "select a,b,c from tab where d= *<<col2>>* ".
I would like to have a sql query based on the values of second report column. Any ideas are appreciated.
    Regards,
    madhu

You can do that only if you use apex_item. See this example as a reference:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:176
In this example the second select list query depends on the first select list column value.

  • Character string buffer too small (select list query based LOV)

    Hi,
Using the select list query based LOV with a select witch is too big, you get this error.
    report error:
ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
When using the Popup LOV query based LOV) then it works nice.
    Can that be solved somehow?
With the Popup LOV the return value is displayed in stead of the description.

    Hi Andy,
How do I incorporate your suggestion on a report ?
    Example : I have
    select apex_item.display_and_save(1,column1,5) col1,
    apex_item.display_and_save(2,column2,5) col2 ,
    apex_item.popup_from_query(3, emp_name, 'select user_name, name  empname from table2) col3
Table 2 is a long list , and I'm getting string buffer too small due to this.
Your suggestion with HTP is good but I'm not sure how to implement it for reports as I'll like the user to change the values with the select_list.
I'm not using forms as they want mulit-record on the same page.
Hope to hear back from you soon.
    Thanks very much.

  • POPUP LOV'S BASED ON SQL QUERY

Help! I am a beginner with APEX and SQL in general, and I need help with an issue I am experiencing. I've created a POPUP LOV with the following SQL statement:
    SELECT CLOCK_NUMBER || ' ' ||LAST_NAME||', '||FIRST_NAME D, EMP_ID R
    FROM MASTER
The return value should populate the table, but instead it is returning to the report in APEX. If I choose a SELECT LIST based on a named LOV, it works. But unfortunately I cannot use a SELECT LIST, but I must use a POPUP based on a named LOV. Has anyone had these issues with POPUP LOV's? This is driving me crazy, and I'm sure I'm doing something stupid!
    Thanks!

I've researched this quite a bit and it seems that this is a huge problem with APEX 3.1. Basically, I've created a tabular form. I have a column based on a LOV. In a tabular form, you DO NOT have the option of creating a PopUP..KEY..LOV, which would work for me, since it writes the return value back to the table. The normal PopUP LOV that you have the option of implementing on a tabular form does not behave like a PopUP..KEY..LOV, but it brings the return value back to the report (which in my case would be an employee_id, which doesn't work), and writes the display value back to the table.
To add insult to injury, a regular SELECT LIST (based on named LOV) would work, however my LOV violates the buffer (which is 32k) and I get this error:
    report error:
ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
I've researched this error and there are about 10 to the 100 posts regarding it, especially when dealing with LOV's and select lists that violate the 32k limit.
    Any new fresh advice?
Thanks for your response as well. I appreciate your time and any help you may offer.

The simple approach is to create separate Select List and Pop-up LOV items and use conditions based on the number of available options to display the correct one. The items have to have different names, so if this is to be used for example to provide a value for a database column, create another hidden item based on the database column and transfer the values between the UI and DB items using computations.
