  • SAP REx 3.2 Predefined list of activities for visit type while creating visit on iPad

Colleagues, our customer wants to have a different predefined list of activities for different visit types while creating a visit on iPad. I have seen such functionality in SAP Demo for REx 3.2 on iPad. Could you tell me what I should do to have such functionality?

    Hello Viktor,
There are no REx customisation available to mainatin the set of activities that can be assigned to a visit.
In the REx iPAD & iPhone solution, all the surveys, journals and activities are shown together as activities.
For example in the first screenshot provided by you, for the newly created visit the activities shown plannogram check, trade assets, store sales performance and promotion compliance are the surveys and journals assigned to the CRM transaction type of the REx visit Business Review. We can assign activities which are customised in the SPRO path mentioned by me in the previous post. In the device when we go to the details of the visits and activities then we can see that the surveys and journals assigned to these activities are grouped seperatly.
So if want only specific activities (in iPAD & iPhone surveys and journals are activities) to be available for a visit then we should set the CRM customisation for surveys and journals accordingly.

  • LDAP configuration for HR Portal in dual stack EHP4 - Best Practice

    Hi Experts,
               Hello Experts,
We are trying to use the JAVA Stack of ECC server for HR Portal i.e Dual Stack and have applied EHP4 package for ESS/MSS Appraisal. When we are trying to configure the LDAP ADS datasource through portal , we are not able to do it since ABAP datasorce file is available by default. This we are doing for HR(ESS/MSS) Portal. This is for access to the object data stored in the Active Directory.
We have already checked note 718383.
Also, for the scenatrio ,LDAP <-> ABAP <-> J2EE
We have already checked sap help doc.here:
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/e6/0bfa3823e5d841e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
What should now be the best practice to follow for configuration ? Should we go for separate Portal server or is it possible to use Java Stack of ECC server for configuration ?
Also, LDAP <-> ABAP <-> J2EE scenario please suggest if it a best practice and we can follow the same .What are the limitations , risks and issues ? Please suggest if this has been implemented and running well in any live project .
Are the suggestions applicable for load balanced production servers as well?
    Thanks,
    Rakesh

    Hi,
the UME datasource must remain ABAP but you can sync the users between ABAP and LDAP using the LDAP connector:

  • Setting up a new SCOM Enviroment best practice pointers

    Hello
I currently have SCOM 2007 R2 and am looking to implement SCOM 2012 R2. We have decided to start a fresh and start with a new Management Group (rather than upgrade the existing SCOM 2007 R2 environment, as there is a lot of bed practice, lessons learnt we
do not want to bring over to the new environment).
I am looking for some practical advise please on how to avoid pitfalls down the line.
For example, in the past as was recommend when installing a new MP, I would create a new unsealed MP to store any overrides for the newly imported sealed MP. So lets say I imported a MP called "System XZY" I would then create an unsealed MP called
"Override SYSTEM XYZ" now on the surface that looks fine, but when you sort in the Console they do not end up next to each other due to the console sorting alphabetically on the first letter.
Therefore I should have called the MP "System XYZ Override" and the same for the others too, they way they would of all sorted next to one another sealed and its equivalent unsealed MP.
The above is a very simply example of where doing some thing one way although looks OK at the start would have been much better to do another way.
Also when it comes to Groups in used to create a group in an unsealed MP (e.g. the override MP) relevant to the rule/monitor application in question. The issue is as you know with unsealed MP you cannot reference the Group from another MP. Therefore
if I needed to reference the same group of computers again for another reason MP I could not without creating another Group and thereby duplication and more work for the RMS to do populating/maintaining these groups.
However I have also read that creating and MP for Groups then sealing and unsealing to add more groups etc. can be an issue on its own, not sure they this sealing/unsealing of a MP dedicated to Groups would be an issue, perhaps someone has experience of
    this and can explain?
I would be very grateful for any advise (URL to document etc.) which best practice tips, to help avoid things such as the above down the line.
    Thanks all in advance

  • Need a suggestion for setting up a reimbursement program with an annual cap

Can anyone recommend or have an idea on the best way to handle an employee program which provides for $250 in reimbursements for eligible expenses under the program? A few facts about the program:
1- There is an annual $250 cap per employee
2- The $250 does not need to be used all at once
3- Employee's pay for services themselves first and then submit receipts to HR on a quarterly basis for reimbursement
3- Because expenses do not need to be used all at once, the set up must be able to track expenses for the entire year through a cumulative balance
4- The $250 is subject to payroll taxes (though we are not using Oracle Payroll)
Currently, the entire program is being managed via an excel spreadsheet but we would like to automate the program in Oracle. Ideally, we would like for employees to enter their expenses via Oracle iExpense. However, the system would need to be be able to recognize when an employee is over the annual limit, throw a message to the employee letting them know they are over the annual cap, and only allow the remaining balance to be processed in the expense report.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Barbara

Hmm, if you are not using Oracle Payroll, what are you using for payroll? I am wondering why you could not use your payroll system, whatever it is, to handle this reimbursement program.
Well, you may want to talk to Oracle support about how to handle this in Oracle iExpense. You can certainly handle advances for Expense Reports. You would then apply the advance to the expense report items. The catch is I don't think you can stop expense item entry after the adavance is satisfied. You would have to set up a work flow process of some kind to have the expense reports reviewed and only approve expenses that are applied to the advance, is what I am thinking. Not your ideal solution, but something to think about. It could be the Oracle folks might know of a sneaky way to handle this. What you are trying to do is unusual. Employee advances are common, but the idea of not being able to exceed the advance amount is what unusual about this. Normally you will accept any expenses over the advance amount and reimburse the employee for those extra amounts not advanced.
    Good luck.

I've uploaded a simple workbook and clicked "Add to Power Q&A". The web page responds "Added to Q&A", but when I click the "Ask with Power Q&A" link at the top right, I just get the splash screen. I tried clicking

  • Setting up a general Dev Machine: best practices

    Hi
I would like to be less reliant on my local VMs for working with SharePoint and WordPress. So I would thought I would spin up new server fwith VS2015 Preview.  I guess it would  make smart choices  form the start so any advice

    Hi Daniel,
Since this forum is to discuss:
Visual Studio WPF/SL Designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System, and Visual Studio Editor.
And you know that actually one thread for one issue, if possible, you could post different questions in different threads, of course, it seems that some issues are not the VS General issues, so I will provide you the correct forums.
    >>Users which user to create - I just  created a random user which I think must be local or default domain since it is not in my AD . Is it easy to add more?
Do you mean that you want to know whether you could use the VS IDE if the current user is not the admin? I think it would be the VS setup issue, as far as I know, we would install the VS as the admin.
But you could post this issue to the VS setup forum for better response if I understanding this issue correctly.

If not, please feel free to let me know.
    >>VS2015 updates. - do these happen automatically.
The latest VS2015 is the VS2015 ctp 6, the RTM version is not released now. As far as I know, no update package for the VS2015 ctp 6 now.
    >>How easy is to migrate to another VM and take settings with me.
The "settings" means the VS settings, am I right? As far as I know, we could use the VS settings synchronized on different computers with the same user ID to log on VS from the VS2013 version, so as my understanding, the VS2015 would support
    this feature.

  • How to plan for size of Flashback Recovery Area? Best Practices?

    Hello all,
I've set up a 5 node RAC cluster, setting up ASM diskgroups for data, and one for FRA. (11Gr2 on RHEL5)
I'm wondering if there are any rules of thumb or guides to know how large to make your FRA? This FRA disk group will serve as the FRA storage area for about 4-5 instances.
What is a good way to figure how much storage I'll need to allocate to each instance...for say a 5 day retention window for each instance via RMAN?
Thanks in advance for any advice and/or links,
    cayenne

    Philippe Florent wrote:

    Best regards
    PhilThanks for the replies.
Yes, I want to use the flashback feature. I wasn't planning to used compressed backupsets....I run hourly RMAN jobs to backup and remove archive logs....daily incremental rman jobs to do level=1 backups...and weekly rman jobs for level=0 incremental.
Yes, I want to have a real FRA with archivelogs and use the rman backups.
Not sure the total size of the archivelog files it will generate. Is there a way to check to see on an existing instance elsewhere what it uses for an example? Not sure how to tell how much is being generated...
Right now, I've set aside about 230GB...as that these were all same sized disks on the ASM....so, starting with that, but I still have larger disks to add to this diskgroup if need be.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Parallels Server For Mac configuration (or any VM product), best practices

What is the recommended practice for configuring Parallels Server For Mac on an XServe?   The xserve has 3 hard drive bays.   What do most people do to maximize uptime, failover, disaster recovery, etc.  We do have 3 different physical xserves with PSfM also.
Is a software RAID recommended for the boot OS drive? for the drive storing the VMs if not the same drive?
How are your hard drives configured?
I'm concerned that mirroring two 1TB hard drives and using that for both the host OS and for the VMs will present problems:
When creating new VMs, copying large amounts of data, etc, I'd guess that moving 10-100 GB of data is tasking for the software raid and will noticeably affect performance for all VMs.
If one of the mirrored drives fails and the raid needs to be rebuilt, this probably would bring the entire system to a crawl, at best, and possibly be unusable while it works to repair the raid.  Thus it would have to be done during off peak hours.  This would prevent a complete outage though.
    are these correct assumptions?

    Hello there,
There is no upgrade path from Server 2012 Essentials to R2.  R2 is not an upgrade, it is a new build.  Essentials does not upgrade easily, you will want to perform a migration of the server.  This will require additional hardware.  You
can possibly backup the 2012 Essentials, build a temp server on workstation hardware just to do the migration from,  restore the backup to the new server and then perform the migration to R2.

  • Best practices for setting up projects

We recently adopted using Captivate for our WBT modules.
As a former Flash and Director user, I can say it’s
fast and does some great things. Doesn’t play so nice with
others on different occasions, but I’m learning. This forum
has been a great source for search and read on specific topics.
I’m trying to understand best practices for using this
product. We’ve had some problems with file size and
incorporating audio and video into our projects. Fortunately, the
forum has helped a lot with that. What I haven’t found a lot
of information on is good or better ways to set up individual
files, use multiple files and publish projects. We’ve decided
to go the route of putting standalones on our Intranet. My gut says
yuck, but for our situation I have yet to find a better way.
My question for discussion, then is: what are some best
practices for setting up individual files, using multiple files and
publishing projects? Any references or input on this would be
    appreciated.

    Hi,
Here are some of my suggestions:
    1) Set up a style guide for all your standard slides. Eg.
Title slide, Index slide, chapter slide, end slide, screen capture,
non-screen capture, quizzes etc. This makes life a lot easier.
    2) Create your own buttons and captions. The standard ones
are pretty ordinary, and it's hard to get a slick looking style
happening with the standard captions. They are pretty easy to
create (search for add print button to learn how to create
buttons). There should instructions on how to customise captions
somewhere on this forum. Customising means that you can also use
words, symbols, colours unique to your organisation.
    3) Google elearning providers. Most use captivate and will
allow you to open samples or temporarily view selected modules.
This will give you great insight on what not to do and some good
    ideas on what works well.
    4) Timings: Using the above research, I got others to
complete the sample modules to get a feel for timings. The results
were clear, 10 mins good, 15 mins okay, 20 mins kind of okay, 30
mins bad, bad, bad. It's truly better to have a learner complete
2-3 short modules in 30 mins than one big monster. The other
benefit is that shorter files equal smaller size.
    5) Narration: It's best to narrate each slide individually
(particularly for screen capture slides). You are more likely to
get it right on the first take, it's easier to edit and you don't
have to re-record the whole thing if you need to update it in
future. To get a slicker effect, use at least two voices: one male,
one female and use slightly different accents.
    6) Screen capture slides: If you are recording filling out
long window based databse pages where the compulsory fields are
marked (eg. with a red asterisk) - you don't need to show how to
fill out every field. It's much easier for the learner (and you) to
show how to fill out the first few fields, then fade the screen
capture out, fade the end of the form in with the instructions on
what to do next. This will reduce your file size. In one of my
forms, this meant the removal of about 18 slides!
    7) Auto captions: they are verbose (eg. 'Click on Print
Button' instead of 'Click Print'; 'Select the Print Preview item'
instead of 'Select Print Preview'). You have to edit them.
    8) PC training syntax: Buttons and hyperlinks should normally
be 'click'; selections from drop down boxes or file lists are
normally 'select': Captivate sometimes mixes them up. Instructions
should always be written in the correct order: eg. Good: Click
'File', Select 'Print Preview'; Bad: Select 'Print Preview' from
the 'File Menu'. Button names, hyperlinks, selections are normally
    written in bold
    9) Instruction syntax: should always be written in an active
voice: eg. 'Click Options to open the printer menu' instead of
'When the Options button is clicked on, the printer menu will open'
    10) Break all modules into chapters. Frame each chapter with
a chapter slide. It's also a good idea to show the Index page
before each chapter slide with a progress indicator (I use an
animated arrow to flash next to the name of the next chapter), I
use a start button rather a 'next' button for the start of each
chapter. You should always have a module overview with the purpose
of the course and a summary slide which states what was covered and
    they have complete the module.
    11) Put a transparent click button somewhere on each slide.
Set the properties of the click box to take the learner back to the
start of the current chapter by pressing F2. This allows them to
jump back to the start of their chapter at any time. You can also
do a similar thing on the index pages which jumps them to another
    chapter.
    12) Recording video capture: best to do it at normal speed
and be concious of where your mouse is. Minimise your clicks. Most
people (until they start working with captivate) are sloppy with
their mouse and you end up with lots of unnecessarily slides that
you have to delete out. The speed will default to how you recorded
it and this will reduce the amount of time you spend on changing
    timings.
    13) Captions: My rule of thumb is minimum of 4 seconds - and
longer depending on the amount of words. Eg. Click 'Print Preview'
is 4 seconds, a paragraph is longer. If you creating knowledge
based modules, make the timing long (eg. 2-3 minutes) and put in a
next button so that the learner can click when they are ready.
Also, narration means the slides will normally be slightly longer.
    14) Be creative: Capitvate is desk bound. There are some
learners that just don't respond no matter how interactive
Captivate can be. Incorporate non-captivate and desk free
activities. Eg. As part of our OHS module, there is an activity
where the learner has to print off the floor plan, and then wander
    around the floor marking on th emap key items such as: fire exits;
first aid kit, broom and mop cupboard, stationary cupboard, etc.
    Good luck!

  • AIX 5.3 best practices for oracle DB 10.2.0.4

customer is using AIX 5.3 (AIX PROD_aix 3 5 000CA2A2D900) and DB version is 10.2.0.4
DB is critical & Recently getting migrated to AIX from WIndows.
To make sure we don't face any probs after migration,we are implementing best practices at OS level .. so far we've implemented following.
    1)All dbf's are existing on JFS2 filesystem -- We've enabled CIO for mount points(dbf's,redo's)
    2)Changed the AIX_THREAD_SCOPE to S , previously AIX_thread_scope was set to P
    3)Changed minperm% to 5% and maxperm% to 20%
Do we need to change the memory page size to best fit DB needs? or do we need to use large pages?,Any Document available from IBM? what is default pagesize used(how to check)?
How to check NIC is 100mbps or 1gbps?what is the command.
    thanks in advance..

IBM whitepaper "Oracle Architechture and Tuning on AIX" might be a good starting point. Not just a list of "magic" settings, but some real content as well.
Some comments about the settings you've implemented so far:
    1) Be sure to use an allocation unit size of 512B for filesystems storing redo logs and control files, it's required for direct i/o to work correctly.
    3) Since you're using CIO, it might be a good idea to set VMM to steal only file pages (lru_file_repage).
As for the large pages, you have quite a few options. Smaller large pages can be handled more dynamically, whereas bigger ones can provide more performance gains, but can also cause problems if you over-allocate. But, if you didn't need to use large pages on Windows, chances are that you might not necessarily need them on AIX either.
And as always, be careful with "best practices" and "rules of thumb"; it's far better to test different configurations thoroughly than to blindly rely on generic recommendations based on Codd knows what.

  • Best practice for importing non-"Premiere-ready" video files

    Hello!
I work with internal clients that provide me with a variety of differnet video types (could be almost ANYTHYING, WMV, MP4, FLV).  I of course ask for AVIs when possible, but unfortunately, I have no control over the type of file I'm given.
And, naturally, Premiere (just upgraded to CS5) has a hard time dealing with these files.  Unpredictable, ranging from working fine to not working at all, and everything in between.  Naturally, it's become a huge issue for turnaround time.
Is there a best practice for preparing files for editing in Premiere?
I've tried almost everything I can think of:  converting the file(s) to .AVIs using a variety of programs/methods.  Most recently, I tried creating a Watch Folder in Adobe Media Encoder and setting it for AVI with the proper aspect ratio.  It makes sense to me that that should work:using an Adobe product to render the file into something Premiere can work with.
However, when I imported the resulting AVI into Premiere, it gave me the Red Line of Un-renderness (that is the technical term, right?), and had the same sync issue I experienced when I brought it in as a WMV.
Given our environment, I'm completely fine with adding render time to the front-end of projects, but it has to work.  I want files that Premiere likes.
THANK YOU in advance for any advice you can give!
    -- Dave

I use an older conversion program (my PrPro has a much older internal AME, unlike yours), DigitalMedia Converter 2.7. It is shareware, and has been replaced by Deskshare with newer versions, but my old one works fine. I have not tried the newer versions yet. One thing that I like about this converter is that it ONLY uses System CODEC's, and does not install its own, like a few others. This DOES mean that if I get footage with an oddball CODEC, I need to go get it, and install it on the System.
I can batch process AV files of most types/CODEC's, and convert to DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio and at 29.97 FPS (I am in NTSC land). So far, 99% of the resultant converted files have been perfect, whether from DivX, WMV, MPEG-2, or almost any other format/CODEC. If there is any OOS, my experience has been that it will be static, so I just have to adjust the sync offset by a few frames, and that takes care of things.
In a few instances, the PAR flag has been missed (Standard 4:3 vs Widescreen 16:9), but Interpret Footage has solved those few issues.
Only oddity that I have observed (mostly with DivX, or WMV's) is that occasionally, PrPro cannot get the file's Duration correct. I found that if I Import those problem files into PrElements, and then just do an Export, to the same exact specs., that resulting file (seems to be 100% identical, but something has to be different - maybe in the header info?) Imports perfectly into PrPro. This happens rarely, and I have the workaround, though it is one more step for those. I have yet to figure out why one very similar file will convert with the Duration info perfect, and then a companion file will not. Nor have I figured out exactly what is different, after running through PrE. Every theory that I have developed has been shot down by my experiences. A mystery still.
AME works well for most, as a converter, though there are just CODEC's, that Adobe programs do not like, such as DivX and Xvid. I doubt that any Adobe program will handle those suckers easily, if at all.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Best Practices for SAP, connections to use without BW

    Hello,
Could you help me to solve a problem with Best Practices 4.31?
SAP Integration Kit XI 3.1 SP3 has 4 options  :
    u2022     SAP Infosets
    u2022     SAP BW MDX Query
    u2022     SAP BW Query
    u2022     Table, cluster ou function
When I install SAP Integration Kit XI 3.1 SP3 for serveur, I have one additional service in my CCM,  BW Publisher 12. This service is from SAP BW.
From the article /people/glen.spalding/blog/2010/08/04/the-full-montypart-13bobj-integration-kit-sp3-install-configure and installation guide for IIntegration Kit XI 3.1 SP3 I've learned that I need SAP BW to use Infosets dans Crystal Reports.
    Dans notre installation nous avons
u2022     SAP ERP système without BW,
    u2022     BOBJ Server Setup,
u2022     BOBJ Edge Integration Kit for SAP XI 3.1 SP3 server
    u2022     BOBJ Client Setup,
u2022     BOBJ Edge Integration Kit for SAP XI 3.1 SP3 client
    u2022     Crystal Reports 2008
    u2022     Xcelsius 2008
I've got Best Practices reports via « Table, cluster ou fonction » connection. There is no problem with this type of connection !
I suppose that « SAP Infosets », « SAP BW MDX Query » et « SAP BW Query » connections should be used with SAP BW.
Could you give me your opinion about this question?
    Thanks beforehand,
    Malika

    Hi,
the InfoSets are a connection option for the classic InfoSets in an ERP system. Would suggest you take a look at the user guide for the SAP Integration Kit

  • Best practice for scripts in UCCX

    General Question
When I wrote scripts for Nortel Symposium , I always created a primary script for queuing calls to skill sets so that the press 1 , welcome prompts, check day of week etc were all in different scripts but the core function- Select Resource was in a single simple script by itself- which was pointed to by the initial menu scripts-
In UCCX , do people make use of a single script for each call flow - Welcome, Day of Week, Select Resource etc all in a single script to do you call sub - Scripts/ Flows for the actual  Select Resource - what this best practice , what do other people do
The reason I had subscripts in Nortel was so that when the call was offered to the SkillSet, the Admin. person who that there were no additional queue offerings so any time to answer etc was purely on the Q also any changes  in other scripts did not affect  other Q`s

Here's a few tips/best practices that may help you out:
