List of discussions by category

The prior implementation had a list of discussions by category. Is this somewhere else? It was very nice. Pictures and all that. Now, there is an alpha list of discussions. It spans multiple pages. Would be nicer to be all on one page.
Crazy how Apple drops successful implementations around here.

I couldn't access Ralph Landry's list so I didn't know if i was sending you the same link. What I like most about turingtest's list is if you go to Using ipad you get a page very similar to the old Using iPad> discussions page. All it needs is to show who answered the question and if it's been updated since you visited it. When I find a useful page I bookmark it as favorite in Safari so i don't have go searching for it a second time.

I have assigned several folders to a category, which I have published as a portlet. When I display that category portlet on a page, the folders in that category are not listed in the portlet.

I have the first generation iPod touch and recently it has been putting all the songs into the "A" category so if I try to scroll to a song that starts with an "S" using the alphabetical sidebar it goes back to A. This is very annoying as I have to scroll all the way down the list of 3,000 songs. Please Help!

List of Alerts per category for Ironport?

Hello,
Does anyone know of a list of the what the different Alerts are per category that can get emailed to people?
I know how to sign up for System Administration\Alerts and the categories of System, hardward, Updater, VOF, Anti-v, anti-spam and Dir Harvest Attack.
My boss wants to know what alerts can come from each category...
Will the Ironport email an alert if one of my three C appliances stops working? etc. Is there a chart or table somewhere that defines what alerts get sent and when?
On a side note:
Will the Ironport tell me if a Queue is past a certain threshold?

Hi Elias,
you can find a list of alerts in a table in the Cisco IronPort AsyncOS Email Configuration Guide. Easily accessible via the online Help "GUI - Help and Support - Online Help". Search for chapter "Alerts".
The table tables list alerts by classification, including the alert name (internal descriptor used by IronPort), actual text of the alert, description, severity (critical, information, or warning) and the parameters (if any) included in the text of the message.
Coming to your side note:
The alerts will not send out a notifications if the work queue passes a certain value. For this you would need to configure a message filter like this:

For our Excise related requirement , we are required to prepare a Material Purchase Report . The report should display Material purchased from "Manufacturer" , "Trader" seprately .
Sir, my query is that from material purchase record say EKBE etc , how can we seggregate purchases based upon the Vendor category (category mean Manufacturer / Trader)

You can have more than one category - this page shows you how the tags are formed:

The Store will list only the first category and its sub-category at the top of the page. Like the first category, the others will in theory make your podcast available for searching by category. However searching just on the category in the iTunes Store is most unlikely to throw up your podcast. There are thousands of podcasts out there, and it would be quite impossible to display on one page the entire list for any category. What you see are 'featured' podcasts, chosen by Apple as being special; please see this Tech Note:

Note that there is no way you can influence the selection other than making your podcast really special.

How to find sum of Discussions Initiated by a user in Discussion Board List

I am working on SharePoint Online.
We have used Discussion Board List for discussions on our site. In that list permitted users can initiate as many discussions as they want.
My question is: In SP ONLINE, Can we come to know sum of how many discussions have been initiated by different users OOB or by using calculated column or by any other means without custom code.
For eg: User X has initiated :
DIscussion A
Discussion B
And User Y
Discussion C
So what I want is
UserName    Discussions Initiated
X                                       2
Y                                       1
Is this possible OOB. If not, Can you please help in implementing it by custom code on SP Online.

Hi vikrant,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to display the sum of the discussions that a user created in SharePoint Online.
There is an OOB view ‘Management’, it displays all discussions that all users created. You can group by the view using ‘Created By’, then it will display the sum of discussions that a user created.
You can do as: click List->Current View, switch current view to Management view, then click ‘Modify View’. Scroll to ‘Group By’ section and expand it, under ‘First group by the column’, select ‘Created By’, click OK.

Set Category for multiple IR's via Button in Taskbar

Hi!
I have been searching the net for this for some time now, but wasn't successful, so maybe here is somebody who could help me. Hope I did select the correct forum for this thread...
In SCSM 2012 - is it possible to set the category for multiple IRs in one step via button in the taskbar, same like being able to assign multiple IRs to Analysts or change Status via button in taskbar, without need to open each IR and set it in there?

Yes it's possible, but I'm unaware of any solution out there that you can just plug&play. (Somebody might know of one, though!)
If you're a developer (or know a developer), then you can create a custom console task in Visual Studio, bundle it with a management pack, and import that management pack.
From a high level, first you'll need to create a custom console task. The following blog posts give some insight into how to create one.

To solve your specific request, the console task code will (again, at a high level) present a window for the user to choose a classification category. Then, after clicking apply on that window, the console task code will iterate through all of the "nodes"
sent as a parameter to the console task. A "node" represents an incident selected by the user in the incident view. For each incident in the list, set the classification category to whatever value the user selected, then apply the changes to
that incident.
If you want to take a crack at building this solution yourself and this is your first custom extension for Service Manager, let me know, I'll help you through the gritty details :)
And, like I said, if someone knows of a solution you can just import, that'll make things a heck of a lot easier ;)

How to edit data using a LOV list AND textfield for one Field

I am trying to edit the templated edit from HTMLDB template when I create a new table. I implemented most of the fields with LOV list like yes/no, joe/bob/john etc. But some fields as many probably have seen have a LOV called "Other" where a person types a different value than the ones available. Can someone tell me how I can accomplish that? Do I need to insert "Other" into LOV and have it be set as the value in the textfield? I am not sure how i can create both LOV list and textfield per category/field i.e. Name.

Again, I urge you to use HTML DB nomenclature to describe what you've done. For example: "I ran the Form on a Table wizard to create a form" Rather than using the word "template" for everything you describe. "Template" has a specific meaning in HTML DB and it is not what you are referring to.
You really should invest the time required to accurately phrase your problem. Just like answering questions on this forum requires time, so does formulating your question. It is time well spent and it is effort on your part that the experts on this forum deserve. If you don't put in this effort and instead just post a stream of consciousness, that means the readers of this forum will gloss over your question and ignore it. As a result, you have to ask the question again...and again.
Having said that, if I understand your question correctly, you should use a popup LOV item. This will allow the user to select from a list but will also allow typing of a non existent option into a text field.

VOFM formula on output control based on item category(PSTYV)

Hi Gurus,
I created an Output Control requirement in VOFM.
In the requirement ABAP codes, may I know how can I access the list of item lines category (looking for vbap-pstyv in particular) while I am creating the sales order in VA01, because the sales order is not saved yet, so I cannot get from table VBAP ?
Any way to find the variables available ?

Hi there,
When the sales order is created, all data is stored in the internal tables 1st in USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE, MV45AV0V_VBAP-PSTYV_VALUES
in MV45AFZZ.
So you can refer the fields from there. Item catg is stored in XVBAP table.
But 1 doubt. Why do you want to trigger the O/p before the order is saved? Usually any O/p is triggered after saving the doc.
Once the document is saved, data is stored in data base tables & you can refer from them.

Loss of place in discussions- resets to most recent page

Using the forums I often browse through previous pages of discussion topics. Sometimes I will get many pages back. But when I choose to view a topic of discussion, and then go back to the topic list page I came from, the site resets my page to the section of most recent topics. Necessitating going back those many pages that I just been reviewing.
Is there a setting on the site or in Safari to allow me to stay at my place in the list of discussions when I go back from the topic? I did look for archived discussions but nothing had come up.

How to update selected list items in SharePoint 2010?

Hello All
I have a list containing field named "Category". I want to develope a solution which will take two inputs: Old Category and New Category. The expected result is: all the list items will be fetched which have Old Category input value in
their category field and the field is replaced with the input value New Category.
I have a limitation that I can not use Visual Studio. So I am thinking to create aspx page with content editor webpart. But I am new to all these things. Could you please suggest the development approach for this?

I don't think CEWP can help you because you won't be able to find old and new category when there is any change in list. However you can identify the latest modified item from list but how will you identify whether category is old or new. If you have any
other column in list which can tell you that category value has been updated then you can write ECMA or Jquery script to update other items.
If have any column in list then see below jquery code, where you will see how to query the list: (In my case it is Active)
