Hi can any one help me out for the following doubts: ( Please relate the requirements to oracle apps.)
1. How to close one screen using 'x' button in the right corner for which I have written close_form('form_name') in the on_exit trigger but I am not able to achieve it. Is there any property setting.
2. When to use parameters.
3. What is text-parameter and data-parameter (specified while adding parameters to parameter list)
4. Can we provide access key to editors, if so, how to add access key
5. How to update the values in a screen from another screen
6. How to pass multiple parameters to a form
7. How to read the value of parameters
8. While saving the data in the first screen (database block) I want to store the data from the second screen also which is transaction details related to the first master screen.

1. Use key-exit trigger, not on_exit.
2. Parameters are good for passing values from one form to another, or when starting a form from Windows or the browser. They are also useful sometimes as bind variables used in where clauses, or to hold the result from an LOV selection.
6. What environment are you asking about?
8. Issue a Post; in the details (second screen) before returning to the first screen.

The problem I am facing is when list gets populate it keep the cursor at last element of list with null value. I want cursor to go at first item in the list. Is this thing is possible. The list item I am using is pop-list. In combo its showing list perfectly but I have to use pop-list only. Please help to come out of this problem.

I have a question related to this post...what if you want the first item on the list to be the null record - but have it at the top of the list - like all other drop downs I've seen? I'm running on forms 9i

List item display in Oracle forms 10g

hi,
I have created the list item with pop-list in forms.When i retrieve the data using record group in the list item ,i need to display two column data in single list item i.e emp id , emp name .
select emp_id,emp_name from emp where mgr_id = 100;
i tried this query in record group but its coming emp id only, not name .

In List Item, the First column will show in the list, and the Second column will be stored. To show both columns in list, u have to concatenate both fields and make it as first column. And i think you have to save the EMP_CODE, not EMP_NAME in database.
So the record group will be
SELECT EMP_ID || ' - ' || EMP_NAME EMP_NAME, EMP_ID FROM EMP WHERE MGR_ID = 100; Or you can use LOV to display multiple columns.

I've 10 test filed, in-front of each text field there are 10 list item (separate list item)
for each list item element list is given below

Customer name
Delivery date
Delivery Time
Delivery Session
Expected received
Actual Received
Fresh Received
Rate per liter
Debit Amount
On text fields I am fetching records from another file. User will map the list item with text item.
What i want to check is, list item should not get repeated. i.e suppose I've run time display like this

Should I design a button for validation, if yes then what should be the code? or should i go with WHEN-LIST-CHANGE? if so, then what should be the code?

THe most user-friendly way would be to remove elements from all other lists when they are chosen once. You would have to have a WHEN-LIST-CHANGED-trigger on all listitem and populate the the listitems accordingly.

List item problem in oracle form

i have list item that is populate from table. e.g list item contain issued,received,forward to finance,cancelled,
if i insert in the issued in table thats values will be shown in list item but not selected means disabled which means that this value once inserted in the table for that record.
after that when recieved is inserted for that particular record this means that issued and received is disabled in list item....
i want such dynamic list item which that is shown all values in list item but that values once insert in table these value is disabled in list item not selected by user for particular record...

Hi all,
Does anybody know, how to simulate "Validate from List" functionality from the oracle forms with JDeveloper 10.1.3.
The case is for example (Empl, Dept), I want to create a table for the empl showing the empl info plus department name and allow the user assign the empl to a given department using only the name and not the department id.

List Item in Oracle forms

Hello, I am using oracle weblogic 10.3.5 with oracle forms 11g at windows 7 platform.I have an oracle form with a list item(database item). Now I have attached a record group from another database table to populate list item.My list item is by default set at null value but I want to show a particular value in list item as when new instance of list item is occurred:

Problem with List Item in oracle forms

                     I am new in oracle forms and i am using oracle forms 11g with weblogic 10.3.5 at windows 7.
I have 3 database tables say(tbl_city,tbl_state,tbl_address).

Now I have made an oracle form having data block tbl_address with base table name tbl_address. In the form there are two list: one(list_state) for State_Name & State_ID and another(list_city) for City Name & C_ID display.
Here I want when I set State_name to ASD then List item list_city should be populated with the values having State_NAME=ASD not of State_Name=XY or None.I have tried it to make but not succeeded.I have made a procedure to populate list_city list item as:

On my previous post I have mentioned record group as follows:

Import Java Classes - How manipulate Java List in Oracle Form

I call a Web Service from Oracle Application Server 10g Forms Services but the object returned by the method is a java list. I created a stub/skeleton with JDeveloper and the communication between WebService and Oracle form works fine. The problem is how to desencapsulate the list within ORA_JAVA. I imported java.util.List it does not solve my problem.
Method called: public List DecryptToken(Context context, String token) throws Exception
This list will have in List.get(0) -> Context object
List.get(1) -> String
List get(2) -> String
List get(3) -> Param []

try java stored procedure loop ur java list and get data in "type table" of requried data type
and use it as u desired.

Oracle Forms: getting currently selected item in List

I've noticed that the method isItemSelected in the oracle.oats.scripting.modules.formsFT.common.api.elements.List class doesn't appear to work. In the drop down lists that I've tested, it always returns true for any item that is in the list (ie the same as isItemInList returns).
Is there any way to figure out what item is selected in a drop down list in Oracle Forms?

I am also trying the same for a Select field in a Web application. .selectOptionByText works for input but to get a value from a select box. .getSelectedValue() is not working and also .getSelectedText() is also not working. Not able to get a value at runtime from a select field. Also how to retrive all the options present in a select field in a web application.

Oracle Forms 10G(tabbed canvasses not working the same as in Forms 6i)

Hi everyone,
I have a form which gets called from another form through a list of value. The called form(second form) has a group of tabbed canvases which get displayed depending on the parameters passed from the first form.
The Form is working prefectly fine in Forms 6i but when I converted the same form in to forms 10G it does not seem to work the same way. The tabbed canvasses are not getting displayed. I am manually having to press the execute query to get data displayed in the tabbed canvasses. I checked the parameters that are being passed and they are the same as that in Forms 6i.
Please let me know where my 10G Form is going wrong. Appreciate your help, please send me an email on [email protected]

Oracle Spatial and Oracle Forms

Hi,
Does anyone have experience with Oracle Spatial and Oracle Forms?
I have generated a form, which is based on a view. The view uses the mdsys.sdo_relate operator. Somehow I am unable to get the form to perform (to get one record it takes over 20 minutes). While useing sql-navigator to process the same statement it seems no problem. The query that also uses the view, is then processed in 10 seconds.
I also noticed that when text-functions like ' lower' of ' upper' are used to query the view, the query is processed within 15 seconds. If I don't use ' lower' or ' upper' it takes a long time (> 20 minutes) to process the query. Is it possible that this causes the bad performance of the form?
On metalink I have found that forms and spatial do not cooperate because of the pl/sql version that
forms6 uses. There is no solution presented, does anyone know of a work around?
My configuration is:
Oracle 8.1.7 on WIN2K @ PIII-800Mhz 256 Mb memory.
Formsbuilder 6

3. This oracle spatial forum, once you understand these concepts.
In the future consider Certification on Oracle Spatial 11g Certified Implementation Specialist.
