List View Threshold and using OR in list view

I've read the white papers, searched the blogs, but I don't quite understand why I am getting the 'only showing latest results...' yellow bar due to list threhshold with following scenario:
List has 9000 items (so above threshold).
ALL 4 columns below are indexed!
I have a view called 'My Items' such that:
Show all items when
UserColumn1 = [Me] OR
UserColumn2 = [Me] OR
UserColumn3 = [Me] OR
UserColumn4 = [Me]
All of the 4 user columns are indexed, but I'm thinking that since I have OR's in they query vs ANDs that it is causing the view to trip up and display the 'only giving you recent...' yellow filter bar.
Any thoughts?
Am i correct in my thinking that because of the OR's, SharePoint has to go back to the database and pull data 4 times.
There are only 20 items where UserColumn1 is me, 10 where UserColumn2 is me, and 3 where UserColumn3 is me and only 1 item where UserColumn4 is me, so there are only total of 34 items, so I know its not because the first indexed column is returning more
than 5000 items.
Any advice/links to using 'OR' in view is much appreciated, I couldn't find anything.

The problem is the "or" and the list view threshold.  When using an OR the query has to retrieve ALL the items to make sure it gets all the Or clauses.  Once it has all the items then it filters based on the "or".  If you
use an"and" you can be sure that all the results will be represented by the result set that is derived from the first column.  So the query can be limited to that and then trimmed of additional results after retrieval.  When using Ors there
is no way to limit the query Set.  What you want it to do is limit the results to 4 query sets that it then combines.  It doesn't work that way.  When using 'or' you will always try to retrieve ALL the results whether the columns are indexed
or not.

    As I understand, you encountered the issue after you created view filter.
    Every column type has the default number that can be created. You should go to check the number of your column created is less than the number by default.
    Per my test, I can achieve it without exceeding list view threshold.
    Check things below:
    1. You can increase the number of the list view threshold, and after that, you can try again to see the same situation will occur.
    2. Go to create another managed metadata column “year”, and create index on column "year", and create view filter in the same list to see the issue will occur.
    3. Check ULS log to see the details about the cause of the issue.

  • Missing Export and Use Drop Down Lists

    I cannot export my .mov files to any format other than .mov as the Export and Use drop down lists are missing. When I go to File > Export the text for Export and Use are there followed by blank gray space as if the drop down lists never existed.
    I just upgraded to Pro today and had infrequently used QuickTime Player previously. I have the most current version 7.6.5. The other functions appear to be working normally, but I am not a "familiar user" so I can't say for sure.
    Any ideas?

  • List View Threshold and Relevant Documents

    I have a Sharepoint Site that contains several libraries.  Some with infopath forms and others with pdf's.  On the site's main page I had added the relevant documents web part.  The relevant documents web part is used frequently by certain
    users to attach hyper links in infopath forms to pdf's stored in a library filled with pdf's.
    Recently one the sites users recieved the error message within the relevant documents web part saying: " The attempted operation is prohibited because it exceeds the list view threshold enforced by the administrator"
    Strange part was it was only affecting this user.  So I went to the central admin site and increased the list view threshold from 20,000 to 30,000 which solved the problem for now.  None of our libraries individually exceeded the 20,000 document
    view threshold limit.  However I believe all of them combined due which is what caused the relevant documents to stop working.  
    What I am wondering is if it is possible to filter which libraries the relevant documents list indexes/displays so that I can keep the lower view threshold limit to keep server load down?  I was not able to find any options in the web
    part settings for the relevant documents web part that would do this.  My backup option is to move certain libraries to a new site, which is not ideal.  Some pdf document libraries cannot be moved because the hyperlinks would all be broken.

    I instead used the greater than which looks like it worked in pulling only more recent documents.  The problem is most of the documents are in folders that were created years ago so if someone browses to the library certain folders will be hidden.
    I don't know if setting up private default views will fix this for them and allow me to drop the list view threshold back to 20,000.
    I will have to test this later today.

  • Can moving large sharepoint lists to database and using database table as an external list help performance?

    I have to maintain a huge SharePoint 2010 list with more than 700,000 items in it. The items are data records(not documents) and are distributed among a number of folders. There are also a number webparts that are currently using this list. As you can imagine
    the performance of queries on the list have degraded considerably. Even opening the folders with too many items in them takes quite some time. We are looking for a solution for this situation and some people suggested to move the list items to a SQL Server
    table and make an external list representing the original list. They think this way the changes that we have to make in the webparts source codes will be minimal.
    I am not sure if this is the best solution as I have heard about slow external lists. Do you think using the external list instead of our current list improves the performance? Do you think this is the right solution for us?
    I would be grateful if you tell me your ideas to solve this problem.

    "right solution for us" is hard to solve without more info.
    SharePoint list items can include things like version history, content approval, audit tracking, and more... such things are NOT built into SQL.
    BCS is an option, and generally changing a list CAN have a very minimal impact (making many assumptions about how it's used)...
    BCS also incurs an overhead of the lookup (since it's external). And there are record limits (defaults at a minimum).
    And more importantly, SharePoint *can* handle large lists... if done appropriately... but can also be mis-handled.
    The limits imposed on large lists by SharePoint, are largely attributable DIRECTLY BACK TO SQL (specifically, the number of records that can be obtained with ROW locks before switching to PAGE locks or TABLE locks, which have LARGER impacts).
    So again, BCS is an option, but whether it's the "right solution for us" is more dependent. Plus, you would probably also benefit by spending some time investigating the other uses (web parts/etc) for opportunities to improve their performance,
    user experience, etc.

    Tapping the icloud arrow should get it to download to your bookshelf and it should then get 'downloaded' against it in Purchased instead of the arrow. See if any of the following fix it :
    - close the iBooks app via the device's taskbar and then re-open the app and re-try downloading it : iOS: Force an app to close.
    - soft-reset of the device : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.
    - log out and back into your account : select the Featured tab in the app, scroll to the bottom of it, tap on your id and log out, and then log back in

  • How to create and use tabs for WD views

    I have created two views. A button click  from onw view leads to the second view and vice versa.
    I would like to add tabs to the two views, in a way that when pressing the button on the first view - the second one will open, and the tabs of both views will be seen, in a way that will enable me to navigate between the views using the tabs.
    Is this possible to do? or must I implement one view with a tab strips? (whcih means - rewriting the secod view into the first...)

    There is no need to use inbound outbound plugs and navigation links when you use Tab Strip
    You have a tab strip control in which you inserted two tabs
    each tab contains transparent container which intern contains ViewContainerUIElement, so your Outline looks like this
    TabStrip[TabStrip - Child]
    --Tab[Tab - Child]
    Tab_Content[TransparentContainer - Child]
    viewContainerUIElement[ViewContainerUIElement - Child ]
    Tab_header
    --Tab1[Tab - Child]
    Tab1_Content[TransaparentContainer - Child]
    viewContainerUIElement[ViewContainerUIElement - Child]
    Tab1_header
    So you have two ViewContainerUIElements in Two Tabs, you need not write any code to navigate if you select second tab second view is displayed and if you select first tab first view is displayed.

    We have a situation for a given catalog item(s), multiple suppliers can be used to supply the item.
    We have implemented CCM 2.0 in an SRM 4 classic environment with an ECC 5 backend system.
    We want to a requistioner to be able to search a source of supply for a given text item from maybe a vendor list or something similar. The item can be produred via contracts
    How can we enable this? Do we have to create a vendor list in SRM if so , how can one do this?

    I had similar requirement from public sector customer. They had same 5 items for product A from 5 suppliers in CCM. Requisitioner can sort by price and preferred vendor. We had created the custom characteristics "Preferred Vendor" like A,B,C rank.
    This was in-direct procurement scenario with no product master.
    If customer has product master they can assign source of supply section in the item level of Shopping Cart.

  • HT201401 My IPhone4 is in a coma.  Will not reboot even when fully charged and using reboot techniques listed in forum.  Any suggestions?  I have some pics and contacts I need.  I did not backup!

    I would appreciate any suggestions you might have.  I did not back up my IPhone4 - stupid on my part.  It just quit the other day.  It is in a coma.  I have tried recharging and rebooting to no avail.  My greatest concern are several pictures that I cannot replace.  Is their an internal sim card that perhaps could be recovered.  I need to return the phone to Verizon as they mailed me a replacement due to the fact that no one at the local Verizon store could awaken the phone.  Please help if you have ANY suggestions!  Of course, i will backup everything in the future - just hoping for a chance with these pics and contacts.

    I ceaned the fan, the computer shuts down when I hit ENTER after logging in (again, i have a password set)
    I did manage to do a a start-up repair w/out the comp shutting down half way through. This was in the detailed diagnosis and repair:

  • Ipod Touch 4 device not listed - cannot sync, and have tried everything listed!

    Help! I pulled my IPod out to take on a trip, and I cannot get it to sync. It has been a couple months since I used it, and have gotten a new computer in the meantime. I installed the latest Itunes version to the computer (windows 7). The Ipod Touch 4 is charged. I have tried changing cords, changing hubs, uninstalling/reinstalling itunes. My computer and another home computer WILL NOT recognize the device. It does not give me an error message - it gives me nothing. I have rebooted both computer and Ipod. I went into msconfig as listed on the hlp page. Nothing. I probably need to update the Ipod too, but is there a way to do this other than connecting to Itunes through the PC? Any suggestions?

    Does your Touch charge? When you plug it into the wall does it charge? If so, that's good because it means mechanically it's fine.
    When you plug it into the computer does it recognize the ipod at all? Often you can get the photo import wizard opening up, which is a confirmation that the hardware works and that your issue is likely a software one.
    You can try resetting your ipod by holding down the home and sleep key, past the red slider, and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
    You may also want to research into Windows 7 and the Apple Mobile Device Driver because I think that's the root of your problem. No driver, the computer has no instructions what to do with this thing plugged into it.
    You've probably already done this, but make sure it's plugged directly into the box and not into a hub.
    There's usually no singular silver bullet fix, rather a combo that just happens to trigger things right, which only makes it more frustrating.
    I know that I've seen that windows 7 comes with its own set of challenges (they work so hard to make it 'user friendly' that I find it's so automatic that it lacks the control to make it do what you want it to do rather than what they think you want to do)
    Unfortunately, unless you have iOS5.0+ you can't update it without a computer.

    I asked an example for ComboBox. may be another type of menu.
    I'm trying to do this for a long time but just could list the titles in combobox.

    Are it's amazing what going to the apple classes can do for you, lol the problem was air play has turned off no doubt when the upgrades were done, but thanks to the training apple gave me I was able to reason the problem out yah! I love my apple.
