Portconfig error for http listen port

I know that this has been posted alot, I tried to do whatever following all the suggestion in other threads, still no luck.
I installed 10gas (10.1.2) infrastructure 10.1.2 on Solaris 9, and everything was running well. When I tried to change the http listen port from 7777 to 80 following the instruction in the administrator's guide (ch4 Manage port),
log in as root, execute the following command
# cd $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin
# chown root:root .apachectl
# chmod 6750 .apachectl
log in as the installation user (oracle) and execute the following command to configure ...
bash-2.05$ $ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin/java oracle.sysman.ias.sta.tools.PortConfigCmdLine -oracleHome OARCLE_HOME -oldPort 7777 -newPort 80 -sso -url http://tmsoracle6.tms-hq.com -user root
Error: Invalid newPort value: 80
Changing the HTTP Server Listen port to a value < 1024 on Unix systems requires that the HTTP Server be changed to run as root. As specified in the the Managing Ports chapter of the Oracle Application Server Adminstrator's Guide, this can be done as follows:
cd $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin
chown root .apachectl
chmod 6750 .apachectl
Can anybod help me please? Thanks.
Jeff

There is only one port for listening, the listen port.
The Port entry is what OHS returns to the browser.
Example:
Webcache runs on port 80, OHS runs on 7778.
Then Listen is set to 7778, and Port is set to 80.
This will ensure that all URLs constructed for the browser are not pointing to port 7778 even though OHS is internally listening on 7778.

  • Custom PL/SQL servlet for HTTP Listener like HTMLDB

We would like to migrate our applications from apache that use a custom perl application server to the xdb http listener and would need to be able to write a custom pl/sql servlet for the listener
    eg
    <servlet xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb/xdbconfig.xsd">
    <servlet-name>Custom</servlet-name>
    <servlet-language>PL/SQL</servlet-language>
Can this be done? (Well obviously, HTMLDB did it.)
Is information available to do this?
Information on the request (url/headers/content) and response (headers/content) objects
of the http listener would be needed.
    Our pl/sql applications look like
    create package my_app as
    procedure my_job (request xmltype);
    end;
This is why we need to do the servlet ourselves and why dbms_epg is not suitable.

    Currently
we don't plan to allow large input to be passed as a
CLOB parameter to the procedure. Is there a use-case
for this?YES ;). I have seen this coming up quite a few times in this forum.
    1) we cannot edit sql scripts in Apex directly (>32KB), this is quite inconvenient to download, edit and upload again. If we are talking about sql scripts, they are often larger than 32KB.
    2) building an application where the user can directly edit or copy/paste spreadsheet data or xml data. It is quite a restriction to only have 32KB at your hand.
    3) the common workaround would be to split the data in 32KB chunks and then reassemble them in the backend. Quite tedious.
    4) editing larger HTML texts for a portal application for example.
    5) editing larger HTML texts for a forum application for example.
... the list goes on ...
Another argument is that all other major technologies like servlets, jsps, perl, php, python they are all capable of handling this kind of data. I often feel it is too much of a restriction.
What do others in the forum think? Feedback is welcome!!!
    Thanks,
    ~Dietmar.

    Hello,
All this indicates a failed install.
The best way to fix this is to clean out the install, make sure the OS complies 100% with Note 761566.1 : "Oracle E-Business Suite Installation and Upgrade Notes Release 12 (12.1.1) for Linux x86-64", and then install again.
If this runs in error create a Service Request with Oracle Support.

  • Can't 'turn off' HTTP listening port?

    Hi,
Below is an exert from our config.xml file.
Currently our app, receives messages on port 7002 (HTTPS) and web browser requests
    on port 7001 (HTTP).
But now we want all comms to be via HTTPS.
I can't seem to 'turn-off' the HTTP port.
    Thanks
    Brett

WebLogic unfortunately does not allow you to turn off the HTTP port. It's not
possible. What you should probably do is just make the HTTP port something so
ridiculous (like 23998 or something) that the chance of anyone ever figuring out what
it is, is slim to none.
    Cheers,
    Joe Jerry

  • Issue with the configuration of http xml port for sending the idoc

    Hello,
I am planning to send multiple idocs in a single file using http xml port.
Presently I am trying to send a single idoc, but am having the issue.
I am trying to create a RFC for HTTP XML port of type H i.e. HTTP Connection to ABAP System
In the how to guide for - How Tou2026 Send Multiple IDocs Within One XI Message
    ( https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/30ea2fdf-f047-2a10-d3a2-955a634bde6b )
the following parameters are defined for the path prefix -
RFC destination of type H (HTTP Connection to R/3 System).
Specify the path prefix as follows:
    /sap/xi/adapter_plain/
    ?namespace=< your namespace>
    &interface=<IDoc_Type>
    &service=<Sender System>
    &qos=EO (or EOIO).
I am trying to use the following prefix -
    /sap/xi/adapter_plain/
?namespace=urn:sap-com:document:sap:idoc:messages ( this is the standard namespace of SAP for all the idocs)
    &interface=DEBMAS05 (Idoc type )
    &service=SNDLS100 ( ECC system name )
    &qos=EOIO
On testing the RFC connection, I am getting the error of page not found.
Can anyone please give me pointers for the issue.
    Regards,
    Mayank

    Thanks Barry!!!
Now I am getting a different message.
In RFC...it is giving me the following message ->
    Status HTTP Response     204
    Status Text     Body is empty
In case of Idoc, the status is till 02...
the error description for the idoc is --
"When transferring the IDoc by HTTP, the return code with the message '500<SAP:Error><SAP:Category>XIServer</SAP:Category><S' has occurred.
    The target address was: http://emgeccsnd1:8001/sap/xi/adapter_plain/?namespace=urn:sap-com:document:sap:idoc:messages&interf
Check whether the IDoc can be sent again.
It is unfortunately not possible to determine automatically whether the IDoc has in fact arrived in the target system and the error occurred afterwards"
I am still not able to resolve the issue.

    Mayank

  • How do I configure a deployed webapp (war) for access without port numbers

    Using WLS 11g.
Have created a managed server called "DeplymentServer". This managed server is listening on port 9005.
I have deployed a war, webapp, and selected the DeploymentServer as its "target".
The war file was originally on our 10g OAS and deployed as OC4J and I made no changes to prior to deploying to our 11g Weblogic installation.
On 10g we used to be able to call the webapp directly from one of our webpage like this:
    https://cxxxxx.nswc.navy.mil/wizardapp/wizard?REQUEST=Change_Request_Form
Now on 11g I have to remove the "s" from https and include the port. So now my url looks like this
    http://cxxxxx.nswc.navy.mil:9005/wizardapp/wizard?REQUEST=Change_Request_Form
I am currently testing this behind a firewall so http will work here as will the port, but when we go live these won't.
    My questions are:
    1) Is there a way to configure the webapp deployment or the managed server, so I don't have to include the port number to access my deployment?
    2) How to I configure so I don't have to remove the s from https.
At the moment question 1 is more pressing.
I think If I can get question 1 squared away question 2 may get corrected as well.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Steve.

    Hi Steve,
Port 443 is the default HTTPS listen port for Servers...so to access an application using : https://cxxxxx.nswc.navy.mil/wizardapp/wizard?REQUEST=Change_Request_Form .... You were not needed to provide the 443 protocol in the URL because ur Server (Or the frontend proxy) was also listening on 443 SSL port.
Now as u want to use HTTP Protocol...(Port 80 is the default HTTP listen port so it will not be visible in the URL)... So you have 2 options now:
Option-1). Either u change the Server Port to 80 (Server in which ur Application is deployed) so that the Port will not be visible on the URL.
Option 2). Install a WebProxy (on Port 80 infront of the WebLogic Server)...and by pass the requests to the WLS through the Proxy. like: http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2010/05/13/apache-proxy-as-static-content-repository/
    Thanks

    Regards,
    Divya

Thanks Sinkar for your interest in this issue.
We have tested with the Timestamp Configuration what you have suggested but still the issue is existing.
Infact we tried without Minimum Age as well then also B2B is unable to pick the File from remote through FTP Listening channel.
We are having 7 FTP Listening channel and 1 SFTP listening channels for 8 TP's and out of that 2 are working as expected. it is strange that how come other Listening channels are working with the same configuration.
Though we are able to FTP through putty to all the remote channels but strangely only two listening channels are working from B2B and rest not.
Below is the log we tried with Minimum age option and the Timestamp configuration you have provided:
    Dirty:true

  • Disabling Weblogic's http server port - Using an external web server

    Hi,
We are using Weblogic 8.1 as application server and IWS as web server. We have
siteminder web agent configured on the web server for implementing authentication
    and authorization.
All our requests first go to the web server which redirects them to the application
    server.
Since Weblogic itself has a http listen port, user can still send requests directly
to the application server(which does not have any siteminder configuration on
it). Is it possible to ensure that all http requests made directly to the application
server are not processed so that the user is forced to hit the web server first.
    Thanks,
    Akash

When you say redirect, do you mean you use an HTTP redirect to send it to your
WLS servers URL? Or do you mean you proxy the requests from the webserver to
the WLS instance? In the former case, you must expose WLS's HTTP server to the
clients in order to redirect them to the address and you will not be able to
stop them from going directly there. In the case of the latter, you can put
your WLS instance behind the firewall so external users can't get to it. If you
also need to protect it from internal users you should probably not use
siteminder as your authentication mechanism. You may be able to configure
siteminder so that it has to authenticate itself to send requests to weblogic
and then protect all weblogic resources with that role requirement.

I just deployed a couple 11050's the other day so my experience is limited, but I'd guess your problem is that, when using the Primary Sorry Server, you end up with clients sending HTTPS requests to an HTTP port. Having HTTPS requests redirected to HTTP ports is one thing because the client then makes an HTTP request to that port, but the way you have it above, it appears to me that the client will be talking HTTPS to port 81 on the Sorry Server, which is listening for HTTP.

  • Select Listener Port Number from which_table?

I'm writing a SQL script that, among other things, disconnects from Oracle and then reconnects to the same instance as a different user. I'm able to query v$database and v$instance to get most of the information I need (host, service name, etc) for the reconnect part. The only part I'm missing is the listener port number. I could hard code it to 1521, but that isn't very flexible. Currently, I'm prompting the user (which is normally me) for the listener port number in the SQL script, but that just seems a little bit lame. So my question is this: is there a view or table somewhere in the sys schema that I could use to view the listener configuration? I'm mostly working with 10gR2+ databases.

    cleavitt wrote:
That is possible, but it needs to be a standard Oracle configuration if the script is to remain generic and portable. The script is actually working fine as-is. I was just trying to go the extra mile and determine the port number automatically. I could also prompt for a TNSNames entry as suggested by others, but I don't always have an entry defined for all of the Oracle instances in my company on every workstation that I work from.
Here is the script for anyone that is interested. It started out as a script that I found online, but the original did not work with 11g case-sensitive passwords and it only worked for local connections on the server.
    Description:
Allows a DBA user to impersonate another user (without knowing the user's password).
Similar in function to using the SU command in Unix/Linux.
    Note:
This script temporarily changes the impersonated user's password and may cause other
connection attempts by that user to fail during the moment that the temporary password is in effect.

-- Use the temporary password to connect to the database as the user.
    CONNECT &username/TempPass@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=&hostname)(PORT=&listenerport))(CONNECT_DATA=(UR=A)(SID=&servicename)));

    UNDEFINE listenerport
    WHENEVER SQLERROR CONTINUE
SET VERIFY ONAnd by so doing you just kicked the user's password expiration on down the road, negating the benefit of havng a password expiration.
Also, you locked out the legitimate user of this account, until such time as you reset it back to the original. And in the mean time, if this happens to be an account used by some automated process, that process doesn't know the new "temporary" password and runs a risk of locking the account from too many invalid connection attempts. Try to become SYSMAN or DBSNMP from this, and you will very quickly kill OEM.
This has "bad idea" written all over it. What problem is it supposed to be be solving?

  • What is default database listener port number

Running emca script requested for database listener port number. Where do I get this information from.

If the port number is not specified in listener.ora,
you may get different values with 10gR1 such as 1509,
    1525, 1525 or 1531 (on Windows XP SP2).
I guess this depends also on whether the TCP/IP port
1521 is really released or notI have seen what you have described above when port 1521 was in use by another process. If the port is not in use, I have not seen any thing other then 1521 assigned when the listener was created either during installation or afterwards using Net Assistant.

  • Changing the aaa_server listening port

I need to change the port from 6021 to 6121 on my existing OAM infrastructure, I have modified the ois server from 6022 to 6122 with no issues, but I can not find the config files to change the access servers. Anyone have any luck with this?

Thanks for the help, but I have tried that and there is no option during the reconfiguration for the listening port for the access server. I looked in the sample silent mode xml file and there is no named value pair for listening port either.
Below is the reconfiguration steps. Maybe there is another option that needs to be added after the reconfig to get the port configuration.

  • Making PI listen on a new/different port for http

    Hi,
I have a requirement where we are exposing PI to the internet for some webservice calls. We have firewalls/dmz/gateway etc in the picture.
One part of the problem is that, for requests coming into PI, we need PI to listen on a different port for https, say 446.
How do I go about setting this up in PI?
    Thanks,

Changing of the web port for https can be done in the general server/port configuration of your PI System.
You can look at the port configuration with transaction SMICM on your ABAP Stack .
