Listener prob

hi all.
i have a database on linux maxhine and i am connecting to my database from another system using software called putty.when i try to connect with sqlplus like scott@track2 and password it says that RE: ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
but if i connect like connect scott
and password it gets connected.
i am not able to satrt the listener.
please help in this problem
Regards
Nitin

Hi Nitin,
You are getting the error because your tnsnames.ora file (assuming that you use local naming) does not have the right host name or ip address for the service name. e.g. In my tnsnames.ora, I have defined a service name called test.
TEST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = austin2)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SERVICE_NAME = test)
But the problem is that the host austin2 is not a valid host on my network. When I try to connect to service "test" I get the same error as you
SQL> connect raj@test
Enter password:
ERROR:
ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
So fix your tnsnames.ora and it will work. Good luck.

  • SC3.2 oracle listener times out

I have an issue where at random times, solaris cluster is restarting one groups listener resource. I can see in the log that the monitor is timing out after 180 seconds. After 3 times that the monitor probe times out, it cycles the listener. Can someone please explain what the monitor does or what it's trying to do that doesn't succeed after 180 seconds? Can I run the monitor by hand for testing purposes, or will that confuse the cluster?
Also, when the monitor fails 3 times, and it tries to cycle the listener, the stop process is also failing. Does the stop process simply run "lsnrctl stop" for the SID in question, or are their additional steps performed for the shutdown?

Thanks Tim, I figured that is what the probe would do, I just didn't see it. I'm not sure I fully understand the monitor and monitor_check scripts. Does the monitor_check call on the monitor script based off the parameters provided? Is this interaction documented so I can RTFM instead, all info on the scripts I found on docs was very brief but maybe I need to keep looking. I currently have the resource unmonitored until we can figure out the issue with the delay, I understand I can simply run lsnrctl commands to test things, but I was hoping to simulate as close as possible what the cluster is doing if at all possible.
Can I simply run the below script and get stats back on this:
    /opt/SUNWscor/oracle_listener/bin/oracle_listener_monitor_check -R reportprdls -T SUNW.oracle_listener -G reportprd

  • Link to audio clip showing my GB crackle probs. Please listen/help.

    hi all,
this is an ongoing prob and I wanted people to listen to the crackle Im getting in nearly all of my GB songs.
Fast forward the song to 4.00 and you will hear it and then again at around 4.20.
It is random and no matter how many fx or tracks I delete or mixes I try in various ways I cannot eliminate this noise. It seems to be at the end of songs mostly but not always and is usually when most tracks have stopped and just a few are runnning which is odd.
Someone gave me a theory that having the same soft synth (Ie- Alchemy or Podolski) on multiple tracks in the same song could be the reason but why would anyone buy these great products if you couldnt use them as much as you wanted in a song?
I am now out of ideas and am literally sat with a 17 track album that no one can hear. Any advice, tips welcomed.
Does anyone recognize this sound? Have you suffered with it and how did you kill it?
    Many thanks
    Paul

hi, yes there are 3 real Instrument tracks
1- drum sample sourced from a track via my itunes library- this track has fx such as echoe and Zebrify added to it
2-second drum as above- this track has Reaktor Aerobics Fx added
3 my vocal recorded with condenser mic into maudio fast track interface into imac- this track has an FX from Guitar rig on my vocal
    all other tracks are software
    thanks Paul

  • Probs listening to itunes samples before downloading

I hope someone can answer my question and as its probably easy to solve.
Have been listening to and choosing songs over the last week no probs however tonight when listening to the 30second sample of the tracks it keeps on stalling and saying rebufferring stream and you only hear 2 secs of song, the url connection starts off normal. Is there anything to stop this from happening, ps i hope its not my notebook its brand new.
    Look forward to reading reply
    Ciao

Usually when a preview starts buffering during play it means something slowing down you connection. I think there is a setting to make it load all of the preview before starting play. Don't remember where it is though.

  • Music interrupts while listening to wireless speakers via Airport Express

I live in an apartment building with many wi-fi connections all around me. When I listen to music via iTunes, I am regularly prompted with the following message: An error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker “Home”, that’s the name of my Airport Express attached to my speakers. An unknown error occurred (- 3256).
This message usually appears twice in a row with a 1-3-second interval. For the song to resume I need to click Play. After play resumes, another message may appear that says: Your remote speakers cannot be found on your network. Check Airtunes configuration and network settings or choose another speaker.
Again I have to click on Play for music to resume. This scenario keeps going on every 30-45 seconds. And yet, the light is Green on Airport Express and the network ha a check mark in front of it.
What my network name does not have in front of it is a padlock.
Today when all this happened, I lost contact with “Home” and could not regain it. So I decided to reset the AE and, in the process, noticed that the WEP key code which is 26 characters was represented by only 5-6 black dots. I replaced the code and got the network back. But still no padlock.
Is my connection secure? Will it all happen again? Why no padlock?
Sure enough, within 10 minutes the sam problem reappears. What to do?

The trouble you are reporting sounds like WiFi connection probs. Signal quality and strength is just not sufficient to ensure a constant and high enough data transfer. I would recommend to do some test with AP and computer being rather close to each other. Its may a good idea to switch from WEb to WPA encryption.

  • Issue with regexes in http health probes on ACE 4710

    Folks,
We're currently experiencing fairly bizarre behavior when attempting to set up http probes that expect a regexp.  Namely, if we specify a regexp, the probe *always* passes, regardless of status code and regardless of whether or not the message actually matches the pattern.  Doing 'no expect regexp' fixes this behavior (by which I mean that the 'expect status' rules work again).
We haven't noticed until now because this is the first time we've tried to set up a probe that does this.  Are we missing something?  Is this a known issue with our current firmware version?
    Sincerely,
    Patrick T. Ramsey

I also went through a similar issue in which we need to probe the real server PESERVER01 and if the real server replies with the keyword "PE Server" in the HTTP content then the probe should be passed successful.
In my case the real server was listening on port 32776 for HTTP service so we configured the serverfarm as below,
    serverfarm host SF-TEST-32776
      description SF-TEST-32776
      failaction purge
      probe PE-SERVER-STRING
      rserver PESERVER01 32776
        inservice
And the TCP probe as below,
    probe tcp PE-SERVER-STRING
      port 32776
send-data GET /IOR/ping HTTP/1.1      <<== command should not be in inverted  commas
      expect regex "PE Server"
The above probe worked really well and when we checked the probe status it was marking as success. I also tried changing the regex from "PE Server" to "Vishal12345" and it was failing as expected because there was no such keyword in the HTTP content.

I was struggling with this issue from long time. Even raised couple of Cisco TAC cases with no luck. The most important thing here is to identify the exact command to be send to real server like GET /IOR/ping HTTP/1.1 that we used here.
To collect this command I did packet capture on one of the client machine and then tried to open the URL from real server which can return the string "PE Server". Then analyzed the captures in Wireshark and checked the HTTP data with follow the TCP stream option in which I seen the below data, which gives the command to be send in probe as well as the string we should expect.
    ==================================================================================
    GET /IOR/ping HTTP/1.1

Extract the Cisco-supplied LDAP script from the tar.gz or zip file. Rename it to something unique. Update it to use the

Import the script into the LDAP contexts on both ACEs. Remember, scripts are not replicated and having mismatched scripts will cause replication to fail.

If you look at (for example) packet 651 in the capture in wireshark you'll see a
successful bind response. You will need to tell wireshark to decode the packet as LDAP.
    The payload is:
    30 84 00 00 00 10 02 01 01 61 84 00 00 00 07 0a 01 00 04 00 04 00
You need to have a basic understanding of ASN.1 and something called Basic Encoding Rules (BER) - whicj comes down to TLV format structures.
The key to understanding this output is that there are three ways of specifying a length in ASN.1. The first way we have already seen in the Cisco script is to use a single byte. This known as the "definite" form and can be used for lengths of 127 bytes or less. Otherwise if the high bit is set to one, the low seven bits define the length of length. The length is then encoded in that many bytes. This is the "length of the length field" form. It looks like Microsoft Active Directory uses the indefinite form for all length encoding. The third form (for completeness is "indefinite" where the length is coded as x'80' and the end of the content is marked by x'0000'. Deconstructing the data:
0x30    The start of a universal constructed sequence
0x84    The length of the sequence in "length of the length" format. The next 4 bytes give the length.
0x00000010    sequence length of 16 bytes
    0x02    Integer
0x01    The length of the next field (1 byte)
0x01    Value (this is the message ID which agrees with the ID in the BIND Request)
0x61    Application, number 0, use RFC2251 to decode. This is a Bind Response
0x84    The length of the sequence in "length of the length" format. The next 4 bytes give the length.
0x00000007    bind response length of 7 bytes
    0x0a    Enumeration
    0x01    Length 1
    0x03    0 - Success
    0x04    String
    0x00    Length 0 (null string)
    0x04    String
    0x00    Length 0 (null string)
The patch given takes in 20 bytes from the bitstream, converts it into a hexadecimal string  and finds the 6 hexadecimal characters from the 16th byte onwards   (Tcl uses zero-based arrays). This is the response code.
    Kind Regards
    Cathy

  • Not able to connect to AlwaysOn Availability listener

    Hi,
I have configured alwaysOn Availability SQL in Azure environment with multiple data centers. Upon configuring listener and accessing from SSMS through port I am ending up with below error,
A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the pre-login handshake. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 10054)
Also, I can see that IP Address of different subnet is able to come online. Can this be reason for this failure?

The Availability Group listener on Azure is exposed on a public IP address that you get when you configure your Azure virtual network. Because you've created a load balanced set name (I assumed this because you've mentioned probe port,) the public IP address
will be routed to different virtual machines via the probe port. The public IP with the public port needs to be mapped to the Availability Group listener public IP and private port, respectively. If your public port is the same as your private port on the
Azure VM endpoint, then, the probe port on the Azure VM endpoint has to be the probe port on the Availability Group listener IP resource name. It's a bit confusing to understand the probe port in the context of Availability Groups because the concept is used
for load balancing workload across virtual machines whereas Availability Groups do not necessarily perform load balancing.

  • ACE - Probe

I am trying to determine the best way to monitor the health of my servers. I have multiple Web Server instances running on different ports on the same physical server. So I have configured 1 RSERVER. In my Server Farm configuration I specify the RSERVER then the port number for each Web Server instance.
How can I monitor each Instance individualy?
I dont want to take the entire RSERVER out of service if just one of the instances fail. I just want to take the one instance out of service if that one instance has failed.
    probe http EP-57100
    port 57100
    interval 2
    faildetect 2
    passdetect interval 2
    request method get url /index.html
    expect status 200 200
    probe http EP-57300
    port 57300
    interval 2
    faildetect 2
    passdetect interval 2
    request method get url /index.html
    expect status 200 200
    rserver host EP1
    ip address 10.10.10.10
    inservice
    serverfarm host EP
    rserver EP1 57100
    inservice
    rserver EP1 57300
    inservice
    Thanks for the help!

You cannot create multiple rservers with same IP address. Similarly there is no way to define a port under rserver definition. You can define probes under rserver configuration but not ports.
Are the different instances (listening on diff ports) are serving the same application? If yes then you can try
    serverfarm host EP
    rserver EP1 57100
    probe EP-57100
    inservice
    rserver EP1 57300
    probe EP-57300
    inservice

  • LUMIA 800 MESSENGER PROB.

I purchased the lumia 800 about 11 months back. Since then I was facing problems with the messenger in the >Messaging>Online
I am not able to connect online most of the times. But when I put the phone for charging and then try connecting online it gets connected instantly. I don't understand if it's a problem with the WiFi or the phone.
When I use the camera with the flash light, the images are sometimes green or yellow or blue. Don't know the reason. Is this a prob. or just normal.
And my lumia 800 charging lasts only for about 10-12 hrs. with normal use and for about 5 hrs. with WiFi.
One major problem is when I listen to music and browse the net the phone gets stuck. This has happened to me everytime I use music and browse the net. And always I have to restart my device.
Please suggest me if these are problems with my device or they are just normal. And if I should approach the Nokia care center for these problems.
    Thank you

Sounds like problems with your phone. You could try a reset first and if that doesn't work, then try your local Nokia Care Point. Remember to backup your data before resetting. You can locate your local care point using the link below.

  • ZEN v plus FM adaptor prob

hello all, I have a zen v plus (obviously) and am very happy with it. it has more than enough memory for my uses and is ideal for me. Im not into the whys and wherefors of every detail of the thing as I only want to listen to music with it.
the one prob I have is that I got an FM adpaptor in order to play my music in the car, the adaptor was a chaep and cheerful thing which worked like a dream...for about 20 seconds before shutting down! this hapened repeatedly. I thought it must be dodgy and bought another make, only to find the same problem, it is my conclusion that the prob lies with the Zen and not the additional gear. has anyone else had this problem and if so, is there a remedy?
    cheers

Which FM Adapter? I had one of the litttle belkin ones (the one that seems to get recommended alot here) and always had problems with it. It seems that to save power it "checks" to see if the unit was connected by monitoring the volume of the music comming into to it.
On my Zen Vision M the only way I could keep the belkin fm transmitter? from going to sleep was to max the volume on the Zen Vision M.
Off course doing that eats battery life and also is a little hard on the ears when you forget to reset the volume after unplugging the fm transmitter and plugging in some headphones. So first suggestion would be try turning the volume all the way up on the Zen V plus and see if that keeps the FM transmitter on. I have a feeling the auto sleep function of the FM transmitter is what is causing the problem.

  • How to properly setup LB probe for ADFS 3.0 servers

We are facing a problem during ADFS 3.0 (Windows Server 2012 R2), because we do not find a suitable URL for hardware Load Balancer probe to test ADFS nodes.
When tried with IE browser, the URL
https://sts.adfs1.ad/adfs/ls/IdpInitiatedSignon.aspx properly results in ADFS login page but, when tried the same URL with HW LB probe, the probe gets no answer from ADFS server at all.
We compared incoming traffic with network monitor in that ADFS server node (https temporary changed to http to see the traffic), a somewhat similar HTTP GET query did exist:
    GET /adfs/ls/IdpInitiatedSignon.aspx HTTP/1.1..Accept: image/jpeg, image/gif, image/pjpeg, application/x-ms-application, application/xaml+xml, application/x-ms-xbap, */*..Accept-Language: fi-FI..User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows

Please note that using dns name in the url opens the metadata OK, but using IP address fails, not opposite as you mentioned.
