Little glitch in mac os x

i have a little glitch in mac os x: all the application i execute (wheter i compile them, or simply download on the internet) with a swing interface has a litlle "white block" on the left of buttons and vertical scrollbars. is this a known bug? i have 1.5.0_05 JRE.

I also develop in with a Mac (OS X) using Eclispe and I haven't ever had this problem. Post some code if you think it may help. Do you use a GUI builder? I'm using Java 1.4.2 Mac OS X default.

  • Little Glitch while repairing permissions.

I have been experiencing a little glitch when repairing permissions, and it has been a while now.
The problem appears with all utilities, from Disk Utility to Applejack and so on.
The type of error is the following:
: for architecture i386 object: ./Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes malformed object (unknown flavor for flavor number 0 in LC_UNIXTHREAD command 27 can't byte swap it)
: for architecture i386 object: ./Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/iTunesHelper.app/Contents/MacOS/iT unesHelper malformed object (unknown flavor for flavor number 0 in LC_UNIXTHREAD command 13 can't byte swap it)
After this, the repair keeps going and glides till the end.
Maybe it is not very important, but it is definitely annoying to know that something in your system is not 100% right....
    thanks

    Andrew:
The Blue and White G3 will support the latest release OS X. I suspect you mistook it for a Beige G3, like I did at first, which does not natively support OS X, and will need XPostFacto.
    Good luck.

  • Little glitch in annotation syntax?

a very good thing with the Java syntax was that you were allowed to declare an array like this:
String[] arr = {"one", "two",} ; // notice the last ","having written code generators for other language I thought this was a welcome idea
(you didn't have to bother any more with the last "," in your loop)
unfortunately is not true with annotations:
@MyAnnotation (this=1, that=2,) //syntax error!sinec many annotations may be generated by programs (UML generators for example)
I think this is a little syntactic glitch.... what do you think?

This requires about 1 more line of code to fix in your
code generator. I don't think it's an issue at all.unfortunately that's not true
on some situation of code generation knowing that you are handling
the "last" item might be cumbersome
and you have to postpone the handling of the ","
that's the very reason why the array syntax is different from other languages
    and tolerates a trailing comma

  • Possible little glitch with the Nano(second generation)

It may just be my iPod i'm not sure, but if I select a song by author then go to my songs directly it dosn't show that that song is playing with the "<))" icon. This leads to other smaller glitches with song selection. Again, this is only minor so it's nothing to freak out about. Just wanted to put it out there. Has anyone noticed this besides me??<br>

  • The reason for very little viruses on MACs

As far as I know, there are very few viruses that are spread through the internet that cause harm to a mac. I'm going to purchase an macbook within a couple months and was just curious what it has in terms of virus protection, if any. Are there just not many viruses made to attack OSX or does the OS have that high quality of virus protection? Any other details would be appreciated. Thanks

    I disagree with that assessment.
Consider hackers who write viruses to be thieves. A thief is not going to try stealing $1000 from a bank safe deposit box if he/she knows there is $1000 in a padlocked gym locker.
It is very difficult to do anything valuable with a Mac OS X exploit, even when a vulnerability is discovered. You can't take over the overall system and turn the Mac into the hacker's robot. You can't create malware that self-replicates to other Macs. You can't modify the system without Mac OS X requesting admin user authentication. You can't even trick the user into running a trojan without Mac OS X flashing up a warning about running program "abc," which was downloaded from the Internet, for the first time. It's just not worth the effort...
Windows is the low-hanging fruit; that's why it's the target of hackers. It's not because of market share, so the threat of Mac OS X viruses will not suddenly increase because Mac OS X market share is increasing.

  • Little glitches

Since installing Snow Leopard I'd say my life has gotten a little more annoying.
    1. 3-finger swipe (on my MB touch pad) to page back and forth on Safari no longer works. It's set up this way in System Preferences - what gives????
    2. I'm frequently asked to enter my password in Mail when sending outgoing mail, because there's a SMTP failure of some kind.
    3. My computer doesn't default to my home wireless network as it used to, even though it's set to do so on Network Prefs. It defaults to someone else's in my building and I have to manually set it to mine every time I wake my computer.
Thanks Apple - are you doing your best Vista impression?? *Great job!*
    Andrew

Hi Rodney and thanks for your reply:
    1. Error message: Enter the password for user “[email protected]” on SMTP server “smtp.gmail.com” - I enter my pw and it goes through. But what's the deal, the pw is loaded into my Account info...do I need to delete and start over...
The other stuff - still trying the Network thing. Hopefully someone knows what's up with the swiping.

  • One Little Glitch on Newly Uploaded Site

I just created a new site for our business and uploaded it to Powweb via FTP. Everything seems fine, with two minor but annoying glitches... actually it's one glitch that has manifested itself in two different spots:
On the home/index page (www.mariothemagician.com) it should read:
"Welcome to the topsy-turvy world of..."
Instead, it just says "the topsy-turvy..."
I don't know where the other text went! I have tried deleting/recreating it and re-uploading it, to no avail. There's always the same problem.
A similar problem occurs on another page of the site:
    http://mariothemagician.com/Grown-up%20Parties.html
In the upper left hand corner of the page, there should be a text box that says "Grown-up Parties," in a style similar to the other pages on the site. It's not where it should be.
If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you'll notice a portion of the text box visible down there. It's shifted itself, and I cannot for the life of me get it to stay in the right spot once it's published.
Does anyone have any idea what the heck happened here, and how I can fix it?
    Thank you!

    A couple of observations:
1 - your background image is 1.4 MB in size. That's enormous by web site standards. I was able to reduce it to 111 KBs with an 3rd party image editor. Exporting it out of iPhoto with the lowest quality setting but full size dimension wise it was 70KB. I strongly suggest you reduce it's size as it takes a very, very long time to load on my connection which is a fast cable. You will see an enormous increase in page loading speed.
2 - There's a image that has the text "Welcome to" that doesn't display.
3 - There's a image that has the text "The world of" that doesn't display.
The two image files may be behind the background file. Select the background file and send it to the back via the Arranged->Send to Back menu option.
You might try adding the background file as the page background via the Inspector/Page/Layout pane and select Original size as the option rather than tile or scale or any of the others. See if that will make all of the other image files visible. You will have to remove the background image from the page and then add it via the Inspector.

  • I need help with a little glitch

I can't figure out why, but one of the menus I made keeps
getting stuck while animating in. I have two menus that use the
exact same code, but with different handlers and names, but for
some reason the second one alway gets stuck on it's initial run. So
when I play my swf, the movie plays and then I hit "menu", and the
first menu slides in perfectly, but when I hit the button to open
"directions" (havent made the rest of my buttons link to anything
yet), the menu attempts to slide in, but gets stuck, does so in a
really jerky movement, or doesnt come in at all. But when you try
it the second time around, it works flawlessly.
take a look for yourself and tell me what you think please,

  • Little glitch in the Apple Pro Training Series - Motion 4

    Specifically for Mark Spencer!
Mark, I am learning a lot from your book and you may already know about this one but I wanted to pass it on anyway. I could not get your steps on page 125 or pages 150 to work correctly. I just couldn't get the titles to line up properly with the video clips using the shortcuts shift - I and I or Shift -O and O. Then I realized you had us set the Default Layer Duration for Still Images and Layers in the Preferences for 1 second on page 78. Yes, I know you warned us to check this as the setting would be saved for future projects but I of course forgot about it and I am willing to bet so did a lot of people. I changed this setting back to the "Use Project Duration" and now all works well. Hopefully I didn't miss a page where you instructed us to set this preference but I don't think I did. By the way, is there a better forum for posting this types of things?
    Thnks

You need to change your default keyboard setup so that the function keys drive software option. In System Preference, under Keyboard & Mouse, under Keyboard. This default behavior is new with this new keyboard that was not out when the book was published.

  • My music app has a little glitch in it. needs to be fixed!!

When i want to peacefully hear music, I click on a song. then, it skips two songs and immediatly go to the playlist. i try ALL the other songs but the same things happen!! please help!!

I can think of a few things which might be causing this.  The first might be the "shake to shuffle" feature, which used to cause my iPod Touch to skip to a new song if I hit a bump when driving, even if I didn't think the bump was that big.  The second thing that might be causing your problem is if the music you loaded was purchsed with an AppleID which is not authorized on the computer which you synch your iPod Touch from.  This occassionally happens to me, because we have some items which were purchased under my wife's AppleID, and some under mine.  When I have to re-install on my PC, if I forget to authenicate her AppleID, anything which she purchased is not playable on my device until I re-authenticate with her AppleID too.  This could also happen if a friend copies music to your computer, or gives you an iPod with music already on it...

  • Little functionality for Mac OS X

    Hello guys,
I wish Finder has a gesture like Chrome or Safari has. I mean, when you surfing on the internet you swipe two of your fingers left or right to reach to the last page or next page on the browser. I hope one day Finder has it too. Everytime I use Finder I'm thinking why Apple did not put this gesture for Finder. What do you think about it ?
    Thanks.

  • MY MAC JUST DID SOMETHING REALLY WEIRD, AND IM A LITTLE WORRIED...

Hi, i left my computer on, its set to sort of, shut the display screen down when im away from it for more than 10 minutes, but not to put itself to sleep or shut down.
However, when i got back from downstairs, about an hour or two later, i looked at my screen and my login window was there with my name and picture, just like i had restarted my mac. But i hadn't. it was as though my mac had restarted itself. I'm a little worried my mac is spazzing out, or am i just being paranoid?

Thank you to all who are trying to help me. I'm sorry that in my aggitated state that I did not explain my situation in more detail. Don't feel that you might insult me.......I am a novice.
I was working on my PowerBook G4, MAC OS X version 10.4.6 1.67 GHz Power PC G4 1 GB DDR SDRAM when I accidently pulled out the power cord from the laptop itself. Immediately the screen flickered to black and then the power went completely off. I was not able to get the laptop to turn on again. When I pushed the battery button all the lights went on showing that the battery was fully charged. I tried starting with the power cord in and then with it removed but nothing.........aboslutely nothing........no sound, no nothing. I could not get the laptop to start up by doing ctrl, apple, power button....or with any other combination of keystrokes. I was trying to insert the DVD to use the disk utility.
I then found info telling me to unplug the power cord, remove the battery, push and hold the start button for 5+ seconds, re-insert the battery and then push the start button. The laptop now springs to life but any time I close the lid or retart it, it again goes dead and won't start again unless I do the things mentioned in this paragraph. I was smart enough this time to burn copies of my projects so I'm not in as much of a panic now. However I do need to fix the laptop from going dead on me everytime I close the lid or restart the machine.
Someone recommended on another forum that I reset the power manager but there is a major warning saying to only do that as a last resort and that I would lose my RAM card or something like that. I'll look up the warning info again and post it here. What are your thoughts on resetting the power manager.
Thanks so much for all your help. It really is so very nice of you.

  • Trackpad glitch fixed its self? That shouldn't happen.

I'm not the most adept Mac user, so bear with me. I own a Macbook Pro, I bought it brand new in May 2011. I'm running the first OS X Lion. I've never had a problem with it before until last weekend. Basically, I was on my computer and I took a drink of water. Goes down the wrong tube, I coughed, and a little bit of water ended up on the trackpad. About 15 minutes later the trackpad started to act up. The symptoms were:
-Cursor moves on its own. Kinda like someone else is controlling it.
-Desktops change randomly, even if I'm not actually touching the trackpad at the moment.
-The more complex trackpad shortcuts activate on their own.
-All two-, three-, and four-finger shortcuts would not work
So it seemed like obvious water damage. But, one thing I couldn't figure out was that these glitches wouldn't start right away. It would usually take about 5-10 minutes after starting to use the computer before the glitches would start showing up. And they'd come in gradually. First the cursor starts moving on its own a little bit... a few minutes later the cursor is going wild, the desktops are shuffling, yadda yadda yadda. Two days ago that "5-10 minutes after starting" part regressed down to right away.
That happened on Friday, and at that point I knew I was going to have to take my computer to a repair shop, so I turned it off completely and didn't use it for all of Saturday. Today, I turned on the computer just so I could check my e-mail and whatnot, expecting to have to fight through all those pains in the a** glitches all the while...... and nothing has happened. The cursor is a little glitchy, but that's about it. In fact, the more I type the more minor symptoms I'm seeing appear right now. But nothing major... just little glitches that could easily be caused by having all my memory occupied.
Clearly, I'm going to take it to a shop to at least make sure. But ultimately what I'm getting at is.. I want to hear any one's input on what they think the problem might be, because I'm at my wit's end. Is this water damage? Are the trackpad functions slowly coming back because the water is like, I don't know... evaporating? Is there a chance that there's a much bigger problem that I'm going to have to deal with?
    Thanks in advance!

No hair dryer ... that focuses heat which is very bad.
No rice ... that lets dust inside the system.
Leave it turned off and unplugged from the wall.
Water can corrode and short-circuit electronics.  Until a qualified repair person looks inside, the truth cannot be known.  And I at least choose to not guess and mislead you.
As to repair cost, I again choose not to set what is likely an incorrect expectation.
    Good luck.

  • I & O in and out point selection glitch...

    Hi,
Having a bit of a nightmare with a weird little glitch that has only just started happening with Premiere CS6.
(I don't know if it's relevant, I've now got Pr CC - but still using CS6 on some client projects. And this has only started happening afer CC install)
Anyway... Every time I'm selecting an 'in / out' point in the source monitor - the grey slider bar underneath is cropping in on the source footage. To be clear, I'm talking about when you select the source monitor and press + or - to zoom in on just a part of your source footage and the grey bar reduces in size.
So, when I'm trying to grab bits of footage from a take, it keeps zooming in on that slider bar. It's driving me nuts as I have to keep zooming back out after every time I make a selection!
Incidently, it happens when I click on the in out selection buttons in the source monitor and not just when using the I & O shortcut keys.
Can anyone please tell me what is going on, as it's making my edit a nightmare!
    Thanks in advance!
